Closed Fist
A/N: Yes, I always write Static and Sandy as childhood friends that used to date up until they realized, "hm, this isn't working out and we're better as friends" but that doesn't mean they love each other any less.
Static waited for Sandy to walk through the front door, her lunch covered even though it had already gone cold.
What was taking her so long?
"Eli, I swear if ya even breath wrong in front of Rufus—."
Oh. Right, he had almost forgotten Sandy's younger cousin moved up here before he went off to college. He bit the inside of his lip at the mention of Rufus. They used to know each other back when Static was involved with the wrong crowd in his teenage years.
Sandy walked through the door, Eli following like a child would while being scolded by their parent.
"How else am I supposed to get 'em off my back if I don't pay 'em back?" Eli asked, setting a bag of Chinese food on the table.
Sandy sighed, grabbing a water bottle out of the fridge. "I got it, you jus' figure out which college yer goin' to. How in the world does an eighteen-year-old get involved with—." She stopped, tapping her foot for a moment.
"You're not actually going back, are you?" Static finally asked, glancing at Eli before turning his attention back to Sandy.
Sandy frowned, pinching the bridge of her nose. "If I even have a choice in the matter, probably not," she mumbled, running a hand over her face.
She was supposed to be out of this whole illegal boxing thing, not getting back in. Especially with her current position in Strikeforce. Sandy sighed, heading to her room. She needed to rest anyway per the doc's orders.
Hopper cleared his throat as he flicked through the fighters' profiles, stopping as he got towards the end. He sat forward in his seat, the office he was in lit only by two lamps and the fading sunlight.
"Well," he said looking at Sandy's former profile. "looks like our champ is coming back after all, Val." He slid the profile over to his boss, leaning back into the chair.
Valen looked at the profile and grinned. Good. He was getting bored with their current roster anyway.
