I'm not entirely sure what's going on here but I like it
Disclaimer: Gravity Falls ain't mine
There's a bench by the bus stop in Gravity Falls, Oregon that only one person ever sits on
There's a bench by a bus station in Piedmont, California that makes people uneasy
A little boy sits on the one in Gravity Falls
A little girl sits on the one in Piedmont
He's waiting for someone
So is she
The denizens of Gravity Falls know not to sit next to the little boy
But if someone sits next to the little girl in Piedmont they feel as though their heart is breaking and being stretched like taffy, waiting waiting waiting for something that's never coming, and they want to go go go somewhere but they have to wait.
The little boy is a legend at this point, a sad story about heartbreak and family and loss with hazy origins
No one knows anything about the little girl
The little boy doesn't speak
The little girl will talk if you sit by her, but it seems like it was meant for someone else
She's staring right through you with glassy eyes and saying things that make no sense
The bench in Gravity Falls has an acronym scratched into the wood behind the little boy "M.T."
No one remembers what it stands for
The bench in Piedmont always seems to have little doodles on it, two children holding hands or hugging.
And as the world moves around them, the two little children sit there, stagnant and waiting for something that no one else knows
As the buildings fall around them and nature grows and more buildings are built, the benches don't decay, the benches don't fall apart. They wait with their occupants
Waiting
Waiting
Waiting
Maybe one day one of the children will stand up and board a bus
Maybe one day they will stop waiting
But that day is a long way away
