Chapter 2

So far, everything was going to plan. Evie made two more dresses and makeup to help with the disguises. Jay got ahold of the keys to the limo. Hadley and Carlos managed to 'borrow' an earpiece off a guard and 'borrow' a driver's hat. Well… Hadley took them. Carlos used his 3D printer to make a fake earpiece so Hadley could return the one she took. Which the other fifteen-year-old definitely did. She did not spend an hour messing with the guards by sending them on false emergencies. Like a snake getting stuck in a tree. Or a bunch of crickets escaping the science lab. Okay so she did do those things. She just has to make sure that the guards don't find out it was her. Quite an easy feat since she wore gloves to make sure her fingerprints wouldn't be found. Not that it prevented Elyse from figuring out that the daughter of Hades was up to trouble again.

"What did you do? The guards are running around like crazy looking for crickets," the fair-haired princess asks as she sits next to Hadley on her bed. Over the months that passed, her white hair has grown to her hips. Being kept in a loose braid to keep it out of the way. The teen had grown used to the random mischief her girlfriend tends to cause. "Did you actually release crickets?"

"No… but I should!" Hadley laughs as she leans against her girl. Putting an arm around the older fair-skinned teen. Her messing with guards isn't exactly… uncommon. Just the week before, Hadley had gotten caught releasing a chicken into the security office.

"If I'm going to make you my Lady of the Court, you'll have to stop the pranks at some point," Elyse chuckles before shaking her head. Fully laughing as the fiery teen leans back until they were laying on the bed. The snow princess on top of the princess of the Underworld. "You trying to protect me from something?" she teases as Hadley's arms tighten around her. When the blue-haired teen remained silent, the princess got her answer. "There's a threat. Isn't there?"

Hadley sighs under her breath before kissing Elyse's pale cheek. "Evil Queen, Jafar, and dad are missing. Ben doesn't know. We're going to the Isle to investigate after the dance. Mal didn't want me to tell you," she says after a few seconds of hesitation. Keeping this secret from Elyse had been killing her ever since Mal demanded silence. Despite Hadley thinking that backup would be a good idea. Would the gang leader ever listen to hired muscle though? No.

"To proud to ask for help? Sounds like Mal," Elyse comments as she shifts to lay down and face Hadley. Nose to nose. "That will get her killed one day. She does know that right?"

Hadley just gives Elyse a sad grin before resting her forehead against her girlfriend's forehead. "She may think that she's protecting me, but I'm protecting her. She's my sister, I need to look after her," she says before kissing Elyse. Knowing that it may be her last chance if things go south.

The following night, the VKs are back on the Isle. Going off on their own to find their parents. Jay went to Jafar's shop, Mal went to the Bargain Castle, Evie went to her castle, Carlos went to Hell Manor, and Hadley made her way to Facilier's Voodoo Fair. Having left her key to the Underworld with Celia. Someone had to bring her father food after all, and Hadie is terrible with directions. "Well if it isn't little Hadley. You sure have grown, girl," Doctor Facilier states as he walks over to the blue-haired teen. Skeleton key in hand. "Missed us?" the villain teases as he holds the key out to Hadley.

"Maybe," Hadley teases back as she takes the key from him. Growing up, she spent most of her time above ground with Celia. Helping her find customers for tarot readings. "How's the business been?"

"As busy as always. Tell your old man bonjour for me," the voodoo doctor says before walking off, humming a song about having friends on the other side under his breath.

Hadley smirks as she turns to the skull shaped door. The dark eyes reflecting the amount of light on the other side. None whatsoever. "Home sweet home," the teen grins as she raises her black-lensed aviators onto her head. Due to growing up in the dark, Hadley discovered that her eyes are very sensitive to the light. She started to wear extremely dark sunglasses after a particularly blinding day in Arendale. She unlocks the door and pushes it open, the metal creaking as it moves. "Guess Hadie hasn't been oiling it." The demi-goddess sighs as she enters the tunnel. Emerald eyes quickly adjusting to the dark. She walks through to a throne room filled with empty candlesticks, blue fabric, with a single chair in the center. "Dad! You here?" she calls out as she walks through the room. Making her way towards the bedrooms when she didn't hear an answer. "Ma? Hadie?" she calls out. Trying to see if her step-mother or half-brother were home.

"Hadley? I wasn't expecting you!" a voice says through the darkness. The torch at the end of the tunnel being lit. Exposing the flickering image of a tall woman with pink skin and flowers braided into her pink hair. "You've gotten so tall!" she smiles as she walks over to the teen.

"Hey mom. I missed you," Hadley grins, hugging the woman once she got close. Despite Persephone only being her step-mother, Hadley had always seen her as a mom. After all, Maleficent wanted nothing to do with her. The goddess always treated the teen like her own flesh and blood.

The scent of flowers fill the air, enveloping them in that calming aroma. "We missed you, too. How long are you staying? Your father and Hadie are out," the spring goddess asks as she smiles down at the blue-haired girl. Brushing her child's hair out of her face. "We would all love to hear about this girlfriend of yours. It was all over the news a month ago after you were seen wearing her signet ring."

"So everyone knows?" Hadley gulps, fidgeting her feet around out of nervousness. She never thought that she would return to the Isle when she came out. Returning is a death sentence for her.

Persephone nods before patting Hadley's cheek. "Hadie found a group that doesn't care. They call themselves the Anti-Hero Club. You should go meet them! Hadie told me that they're meeting at midnight in the Evil Queen's basement!" She smiles as she pulls away from the hug. "Pain and Panic will take you! Oh and Hadie forgot his jacket and he tends to get a bit of a chill." The goddess says as she pulls Hadley into the small bedroom that the two kids had shared. Not much has changed in the past months, the single rock bed was still there. Clothes all over the floor. Along with old textbooks about nature and astronomy. After picking through some shirts on the floor, the goddess finds the black hoodie and hands it to her stepdaughter. "Come visit more often, little flower," she smiles as she walks the teen back to the entrance.

"I will. Bye mom," Hadley grins before walking back into the noise of the voodoo arcade.
