"How could you do this to me?!" Kuroko yelled over the phone, tears streaming down his face.
"Babe, I'm sorry."
The blue haired boy shriveled to the ground, "You're cancelling our engagement and vacation to France because you went to a club and fell in love with another man and now you're taking him there instead of me, your fiance?!"
"Yes, that's correct. Tetsu, I'm sorry. I won't be coming back to our apartment, I'm going to be staying with him."
"Don't you 'Tetsu' me. And what, you think that letting me keep the ticket to France is going to make everything okay?! You know what, fuck you, have fun with your boyfriend. You're a fucking trash bag."
Kuroko hung up, he was furious but he was equally as upset. Aomine and him have been dating for six years and now those six years had all gone to waste.
The blue haired boy sobbed in the bedroom which was now too big for one and he curled into the blankets to find some comfort. But being able to smell Aomine's scent on the blankets made him feel more disgusted and sad.
A few days before the trip to France, Kuroko picked himself up and decided to go on the trip. He couldn't let that ticket go to waste.
"I'm going to find him and win him back. He's going to regret ever leaving me." The blue haired boy muttered as he packed his bags. Kuroko didn't have much, and he didn't really know how to speak French...or English. But he was confident that he would be able to persevere through this adventure.
Language was going to be a challenge but the very first challenge was getting on a plane for the very first time. Kuroko wasn't a fan of heights to begin with and flying was never an option for him because he was always working; there was no time for traveling. As the blue haired boy sat down in his seat, he began to panic when he realized how crowded he felt and that sooner or later, this plane was going to move and take off.
He took deep breaths and tried desperately to calm himself down. But the more desperate he got, the more he panicked. Kuroko was prepared to start crying a little or maybe even faint when a warm hand over his.
A red haired man gripped his hand gently yet firmly and whispered, "Shh, it's alright. It's okay. We haven't started moving yet. Don't worry. Just listen to my voice. It's alright."
Kuroko tried his best to focus on the stranger and was internally grateful that he was making an effort to help him.
When they finally got into the air, after the blue haired boy almost screamed. The redhead slowly let go of his hand.
"Stewardess, please, can you get me some alcohol? Something strong." The red-haired man said calmly.
When the alcohol arrived in their tiny bottles, the stranger opened one and handed it to Kuroko.
"It'll calm your nerves, drink one."
The blue haired hastily grabbed the drink and downed it in less than a second. After the seventh drink, Kuroko passed out and slept soundly on the stranger's shoulder.
Akashi was a thief. He needed the money, desperately. So he did what he did best. He used his charm and wit to steal. The redhead had stolen a beautiful and priceless lace choker encrusted with rubies and diamonds. The necklace itself would sell for almost 225,000 dollars due to its one of a kind beauty. The problem was getting the necklace to his home town: Paris. It was hard to get through the airport when the city was looking for the stolen necklace. Especially since the redhead was a fugitive in Paris unless he owned a piece of land. He would surely get caught the moment he got off the plane. So, Akashi picked a vulnerable target. A blue haired young man who had swollen eyes, most likely from crying, and a stressed expression on his face.
The redhead sat down next to him and waited for the right moment to jump in. When the stranger passed out, he slipped the necklace into one of his carry-ons. Akashi spent the rest of the plane ride observing his sleeping target.
The blue haired boy looked soft and kind hearted, however at the moment he looked broken hearted as well. Akashi was able to tell that the stranger didn't smile much based on the creases of his forehead.
Kuroko woke up halfway there. His head hurt and he groaned from how stiff his body felt from sitting in one seat for so long. The blue haired boy pinched the bridge of his nose to will the headache away. Luckily, the stranger beside him handed him some water.
"Thanks." Kuroko muttered.
"You're welcome." The red-haired boy said, a French accent slightly audible.
"Um, sorry this must have been an awkward way to meet someone. My name's Kuroko Tetsuya. Thanks for helping me so far." The blue haired boy said while reaching his hand out.
Akashi chuckled, "It was my pleasure. I'm Akashi Seijuro."
The redhead shook the other's hand and then they started talking. Kuroko started babbling about how his mother abandoned him at the age of 6 and how his father was an alcoholic and Akashi talked about his "glorious" life living in Paris (he avoided mentioning that he was a thief).
"And so, now I'm here," Kuroko sighed, "because my fiance broke up with me and I'm going to find him and get him back."
"Wouldn't it be best to start a new life without him instead of chasing him around?" The redhead said with a slight smile.
The blue haired boy shook his head, "I'm not chasing him around. I'm going to show him that I was worth the six years that I gave him and more and then I'm going to charm him into falling back in love with me."
Akashi raised an eyebrow and looked Kuroko up and down, "You and what charm?"
Kuroko pouted and hit the redhead's arm, "Hey, I'll have you know I can be amazing even if I look shabby and drunk now."
The redhead chuckled, maybe I'll see that charm some time, he thought to himself.
When they arrived at Paris, Kuroko and Akashi parted ways and the blue haired boy was left to find his way in a foreign area. The redhead tried his best to sneak around many workers within the airport but he was immediately caught by the one person who always catches him, Midorima Shintarou.
"Ah, Shintaro, it's good to see you again." Akashi said with a smile, his hands restrained behind his back with a pair of handcuffs.
Midorima sighed, "Where is the necklace?"
The redhead's smile grew wider and he shrugged, "I don't know."
"Cut the crap, Akashi. You're facing at least ten years in prison for repeated theft and for trespassing in France."
"Yeah? Ten years for a crime I 'committed'. You don't even have proof. Also, what if I'm just passing through? Maybe I'm just transferring planes." Akashi said, his smile still wide on his lips.
The green haired boy groaned, "Take this seriously. I don't want to see you go to prison again, only to have you escape...again. Make my job easier and find something good in your life."
The redhead's smile faltered, "I'm trying."
After a minute of silence, Akashi spoke up again, "I know where the necklace is. I can get it back if you let me go to pursue it."
"How do I know I can trust you?" Midorima asked suspiciously, knowing that the redhead was too witty to trust.
"You don't. But just know that I am a man who is trying hard to follow my dreams and I will not let anyone step in between me and that dream. If that necklace can get me my dream, I will find it." The redhead said, his eyes glowing.
The green haired officer reluctantly let him go, "You have two weeks and then I'm going to fetch you."
As Akashi walked away, he couldn't help but let out a small laugh. I can't believe I fooled him. Time to find that blue haired beauty. He couldn't have gotten far.
During that time, Kuroko was having the time of his life. He had no idea where he was going and there were no taxis available for him. And when he stood at the airport, trying to find a taxi, some douche bag stole his luggage, but he still had his carry on. So, he resorted to old fashioned method: walking. All he had to do was find that hotel that he was looking for and then he would be safe to lie down, rest, and maybe even begin regretting his decision to come to Paris on a whim. As he walked and walked, he admired the scenery and the new environment. Frustrated and tired, Kuroko sat down on a bench, closed his eyes, and prayed for a miracle to occur.
"Tetsuya?"
Is Daiki calling for me? The blue haired boy thought. Kuroko slowly opened his eyes and saw Akashi standing before him. Oh, it's him.
"Akashi-kun, I got my bag stolen." Kuroko said bitterly.
The redhead seemed to panic, his eyes going wide, "What do you mean? How could you let yourself get...thieved!"
The blue haired boy sat up straight, "I don't see why you're more upset than I am that my suitcase was stolen. I'm the one who lost half my clothes."
Akashi's fingers ran through his fiery red hair as he let out a frustrated noise, "You only lost your suitcase? Where's your bag?"
Kuroko sighed, "Are you an idiot, I'm sitting on it. My butt is sore."
The redhead reached for the blue haired boy's bag but Kuroko held it tightly,
"Now who am I to trust you. You're still technically a stranger. For all I know you could be trying to steal my bag." Kuroko said.
Akashi sighed, "Okay, where do you need to go? I'll take you there as a personal escort."
The blue haired boy smiled, "Why thank you, kind gentleman."
The redhead scoffed and then they began walking together. They slowly headed for the glorious hotel which Kuroko was supposed to stay at with his ex fiance. When they got there, bad news hit him like a truck.
"You're saying there are no rooms for me in this hotel?"
"Yes, you do not have a reservation."
"What about under the name Daiki?"
The receptionist sighed, "There is a reservation under the name Daiki however he and his partner have already checked in. You cannot stay here."
Kuroko took a deep breath and then left with the redhead trailing close behind.
"Well, that was a disaster." Akashi said with a slight smile.
"Don't remind me of how bad I am at trips."
The redhead's expression softened and he grabbed Kuroko's hand, "Hey, I want to show you something."
The two ran through the town and hopped on a bus. Whenever the blue haired boy asked where they were going, Akashi simple shook his head and said it was a surprise. Kuroko patiently waited and followed the redhead until they finally made it to a beautiful farm. As they entered the farm, a young woman with red hair ran out with her arms spread wide.
"Sei-chan! You're back! How was your business trip?"
Akashi hid his sad expression knowing that he was definitely not on a business trip, "It was great, mom."
"Oh! And who is this lovely man with you? A friend? A boyfriend?! Are you engaged, Sei-chan?! My dear, are you his fiance?! Dear, our son is married!" Akashi's mom said with glee.
The redhead sighed, "No, mom...this is my friend."
"Oh... I see. Well, a friend! That's better than nothing!"
Akashi blushed, "Sorry Tetsuya, my mom's just really excited. I don't bring people over ever."
Kuroko smiled, finding the blushing redhead adorable, "It's alright. My mom gets like this too. So, why did you bring me here, Sei-chan."
The redhead's face was burning at the sound of his nickname. He lightly grabbed the blue haired boy's hand and dragged him over to a large field with an abandoned farm that overlooked the city in the distance.
"It's beautiful here." Kuroko muttered in awe.
"I know right?" Akashi looked at the field with pride, "One day, I'm going to buy this land and turn it into a vineyard. But until then, it's hard to see my family. Once I own this piece of land, I can do whatever I want."
The blue haired boy ate dinner with Akashi's loving family. He even sat around and played with the shepherd dogs after dinner. Kuroko giggled as the dogs sat on him and licked his face.
Akashi stared at the blue haired boy with wonder. He had to admit, Kuroko was charming and beautiful. The redhead felt his cold heart soften as the blue haired boy dozed off with the dogs. Akashi carried the blue haired boy to the couch and wrapped him in a blanket before sitting at the table with his parents to talk about his trip.
"My trip was decent. I got to meet many people. I'm hoping to buy the farm by the end of the year." The redhead said.
Akashi's dad shook his head, "Forget about the trip. Where did you find Kuroko-kun? He's an absolute angel."
Akashi chuckled, "I actually met him on the plane trip here. He's never been on a plane; can you believe that? He loves adventure but right now he's pretty heartbroken about his fiance leaving him and running off to Paris. He came here to get revenge and try and steal him back."
The redhead's mom smiled lightly, "Are you alright with that?"
"What do you mean? Of course I am, he's so strong and brave for coming here without even knowing what he's doing. A little reckless but brave nonetheless."
"Sei-chan, you know, when your father met me he couldn't take his eyes off me because I was so wonderful. He would talk about me with this light in his eyes and always make me feel like the center of the room. You love this boy. I've never seen you happier than how you are now with Kuroko-kun." The redhead's mother said.
Akashi seemed stunned and he quickly excused himself to the washroom. The redhead stared at his reflection in the mirror, one red eye burning like a flame and the other eye a piercing gold.
Love? No. I'm here to do a job. I'm going to get that necklace back from Tetsuya's bag and then leave him.
Akashi frowned and he stormed out of the washroom, determined to finish his job. When he found Kuroko's bag, the redhead searched it yet found nothing. Akashi let out a frustrated noise as he searched every single pocket and even went as far as to flip the bag upside down and shake it, in hopes of finding the necklace. The redhead sat down and buried his head in his hands.
What do I do? He thought, Where is it?
"Looking for this?"
Akashi quickly looked up at the sound of a familiar voice. The voice which he first heard as soft and nervous was now teasing and filled with hurt.
Kuroko stood before the redhead with the necklace dangling from his fingers.
"How... Tetsuya...what?" The confusion spread on Akashi's face.
The blue haired boy gave a small, sad, smile, "You didn't think I would be suspicious if a handsome man like you started talking to someone like me? The moment I got off the plane, I checked my bag to see if you had stolen anything but to my surprise, you actually gave me a nice little gift. Tell me, who are you and what are you doing with the stolen necklace, Akashi-kun."
Akashi sighed and got to his feet, "You really are full of surprises, Tetsuya. You're right, I'm not who you think I am. I'd prefer if we talked about this away from my family though."
The blue haired boy nodded and followed the redhead to his room. Kuroko and Akashi sat down on the latter's bed. The redhead fiddled with his hands before taking a deep breath,
"When I was younger, I came to the realization that my family had a lot of financial debt. I felt like dead weight on my family and I wanted to help out in some way so I tried to get a job. Let's just say I was a difficult child and not very sociable either. So I ended up resorting to stealing and learning more wit. Then...well, as I stole and stole more valuable things, I got caught by this annoying green haired officer. He really stuck out for me, I could've had life in prison but instead I was banned from entering the country unless I owned a piece of land. So...this land is the only thing that's keeping me going and I need that necklace to buy that land."
Kuroko sighed, "I'm sorry to hear about your struggle but I can't give you this necklace back. Akashi-kun, you literally stole a national treasure. There has to be another way to get the money."
"Tetsuya, please."
The blue haired boy pursed his lips, he wanted to do the right thing and he couldn't tell whether he should pity the other or abide by the law. So in the end, he muttered, "I'll think about it. In the mean time, I have to go to the hotel restaurant cause Daiki is there."
The redhead knew there was no use trying to make Kuroko change his mind. He sighed,
"I'll go with you. You'll get lost on your own. I...I'm sorry."
Kuroko thanked the redhead's parents for the hospitality and then left towards the city. They explored the city together for a few days. Ten days into the trip, the blue haired boy walked into the hotel and headed for the dining room where his "fiance" was supposed to have brunch with him.
However, when the blue haired boy saw Aomine sitting beside a beautiful blond boy and his family, Kuroko hid behind a plant.
"What are you doing? I thought you said you were going to win him back?" Akashi teased while peeking at who held the blue haired boy's heart before. The redhead noticed the attractive blond and whistled, "Oh wow, Tetsuya, you have it rough."
"I'm scared, I can't compete against that. He's looks like a model." Kuroko whispered.
"What are you talking about? You totally can. Go out there and say hi." Akashi said as he lightly pushed the blue haired boy out into the open.
"Akashi-kun, no. No no, don't push me out there." Kuroko whispered a bit too loudly.
Aomine looked up at the sound of a familiar voice and thought he saw tuffs of light blue hair.
"Umm," Aomine started, "I'm sorry Kise. Excuse me for a moment, your family is wonderful, I just need to use the restroom."
The tan boy walked into the hallway and didn't see anyone there.
That's strange, I thought I heard Tetsu's voice...
Akashi had a hand lightly over Kuroko's mouth and the redhead held the smaller man close. They squeezed against one of the pillars in the hallway to make sure the ex-fiance didn't find them. When Aomine went back to the table, Akashi and Kuroko relaxed against each other.
"Your fiance doesn't look that great. You could do better." The redhead said.
The blue haired boy lightly slapped Akashi's arm, "He's a great person! He's handsome and smart and funny!"
"Yes, yes. So you say. Come on, every guy can seem handsome, smart, and funny. We're masters at faking love." The redhead said.
Kuroko frowned, "You're really pessimistic, aren't you? Have you ever been in love, Akashi-kun?'
Akashi looked at the blue haired boy's face. Intense pools of water stared back at him, clashing with his own eyes.
"Yes, I have." The redhead muttered.
"Tetsu?"
Kuroko and Akashi spun around to see Aomine and Kise standing together. Kuroko gaped like a fish and was utterly speechless.
"Tetsu? What are you doing here?"
"Daikicchi, who's this?" The blond demanded.
Akashi swooped in and lightly kissed the blond's hand,
"Hello, my name is Akashi Seijuro. I've been travelling with my friend, Tetsuya. Showing him around the city and stuff."
The blond giggled, "Oh, I see. Do you speak French?"
The redhead grinned, "I was born and raised here, I sure hope I can speak French."
Kise smiled wide, "Daikicchi, we should invite these two to dinner! You and your friend could catch up together and I'll talk with Akashicchi!"
"Uh dear...I don't know if-" Aomine started.
"No," Kuroko interrupted, "that sounds like a great idea. How about we meet in the lobby at 7?"
The blue haired boy flashed a natural smile. Akashi couldn't help but stare in awe, Kuroko's smile was so beautiful.
Kise took Aomine's arm and bid the two farewell. When they left, the blue haired boy's smile fell and he pulled at his hair in frustration,
"Why did I do that? Why? Oh no, Kise-kun is absolutely stunning. What do I do? Ah, stupid stupid."
Akashi gently look Kuroko's hand and said, "Now, we don't have time to distress. We have to get you ready."
"Get me ready?"
The redhead smiled mischievously, "Yeah, let's go shopping for some nice clothes. It's going to be a formal dinner."
Akashi tightened his grip on the blue haired boy's hand and dragged him out. Kuroko looked at the redhead's back as they walked out of the hotel and he let himself be swept away.
They went to multiple stores, Akashi only took him to the best and bought him a beautiful white suit. The blue haired boy protested since the redhead was supposed to use the money to save up for the land but Akashi bought it for him anyway.
They ate together and went into fun little gift stores as well. When with Akashi, Kuroko completely forgot about his worries and he loved the feeling of warmth he got from the redhead's smile. After a few hours of shopping, Akashi booked a room in the hotel where Aomine was staying so they could put their stuff down.
Then they went to the beach side to take a walk. Unfortunately, the mood turned sour when they saw Aomine and Kise on the beach as well.
"Ah! We meet again, mysterious red-haired man." The blond said with a playful smile.
The redhead to politely smiled back and they sat down to talk. Kuroko became awfully quiet. But Aomine kept talking as if everything was fine. It made Akashi frustrated. It felt like Aomine was rubbing it into Kuroko's face.
Kise dragged the blue haired boy off to buy some drinks and Kuroko honestly didn't mind Kise's friendship. The blond was just full of energy and a ball of sunshine, it made sense why Aomine loved him. There was no way Kuroko could blame the blond, he didn't seem to have a clue that Kuroko was actually Aomine's ex-fiance.
While the two were getting drinks, Akashi let his smile fall and he stopped acting. The redhead leaned back, crossed his legs, and stared directly at Aomine with dark eyes.
"Tetsuya is mine." Akashi stated.
Aomine seemed taken aback and he felt a pang of jealousy hit him in the chest, "What do you mean? Tetsuya and I have history together, he would never fall for someone like you."
The redhead scoffed, "History or no history. Tetsuya is not going to have himself chained to someone like you."
Aomine laughed, "Say what you want. I'm done with Tetsu. I broke up with him so it really doesn't matter to me."
"Really? Are you sure you mean that? You can't have both." The redhead said while standing up.
Just as he stood up, the other two returned with drinks. Kuroko passed Akashi his drink and then the redhead pulled him close by the waist.
The redhead kissed the blue haired boy's forehead and thanked him. Aomine stared, strangely seething with anger.
Akashi held Kuroko's hand as they walked away and Aomine stormed off with Kise.
When the redhead and the blue haired boy returned to their room, they got ready for dinner. After Kuroko took a shower, he slowly got dressed into his suit and absentmindedly touched his forehead where the redhead had kissed him. The kiss lingered on his skin.
The blue haired boy was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice Akashi get out of the bathroom. When Kuroko turned around, he yelped at the sight of Akashi sitting on the bed shirtless, drying his hair.
"What? Never seen a body this beautiful?" The redhead smirked.
Kuroko picked up a pillow and threw it at the redhead. The blue haired boy's face flushed pink and he didn't know what to say.
"Akashi-kun, I have something to give you." Kuroko brought his bag out and took out the necklace, "I want to give this back to you. I'm not saying you're doing the right thing, but...here."
The redhead grabbed the necklace and stared down at it. It was the only thing connecting the two together. Without the necklace, Akashi and Kuroko would part ways. The redhead shook his head and then slowly put the necklace around Kuroko's neck.
"I think this will look beautiful on you tonight."
"Akashi-kun, I can't wear a stolen necklace."
"Please," the redhead said, "it's just one night. You'll never be able to wear it again after that. Indulge in it for a bit."
The blue haired boy smiled and he let Akashi tie the rubies and diamonds around his neck.
The redhead offered his arm and waited for the other to take it. Kuroko stared at himself in the mirror. After a deep breath, the blue haired boy smiled and took Akashi's arm.
Kise and Aomine were talking in the lobby when Akashi and Kuroko walked down the stairs. Aomine felt like he was looking at the blue haired boy for the first time again and his breath was taken away.
"Wow...Tetsu, you look beautiful." Aomine said as they approached.
Kuroko flashed a confident smile, "Thank you."
During dinner, Akashi talked with Kise to give the blue haired boy a chance to win back his fiance. But Kuroko didn't know what to say.
"So..." Aomine started, "Are you enjoying your vacation in Paris?"
The blue haired boy laughed, "More or less. It could've been better but I think Akashi-kun made it worth the trip."
"Who is he anyway?" The tanned boy asked with a hint of jealousy.
"A great man." Kuroko muttered while looking at the redhead effortlessly keep Kise company.
Aomine grabbed the blue haired boy's hand. It wasn't gentle like when Akashi grabbed his hand. It was more rough and Kuroko realized how much he hated it.
"Tetsu, I've been thinking about you so much. Can we talk out in the hallway?"
The blue haired boy nodded and then they both excused themselves from the table. Akashi tensed up when Kuroko left but he tried to continue talking with the blond. That is, until the blond said,
"You love him, don't you? The bright eyed boy?"
The redhead smiled sadly, "Yes. Perhaps I do."
"Daiki, you're hurting me." The blue haired boy said as he tried to pull away from the other's grip.
"Tetsu, why'd you have to come to Paris? Why are you making my heart race? What is it with you?" Aomine said.
Kuroko melted at Aomine's words and smiled, "Because I loved you."
Aomine cupped the blue haired boy's cheek and slowly leaned in to kiss him. Before their lips met, Kuroko felt nauseous and he lightly pushed Aomine away.
"I'm sorry, Aomine-kun...I can't do this. Like I said, I loved you. I'm going up to my room, please excuse me."
Kuroko walked into his hotel room and took off his nice clothes. He packed his bags and got ready to leave tomorrow in the evening. The blue haired boy then sat on the bed and sighed. He was shaking all over. His fingers were trembling as he thought about his jumble of emotions.
When Aomine returned to the table, the redhead instantly stood up, "Where's Tetsuya?"
Aomine sighed, sat down at the table and said, "He went back to his room."
Akashi bid Kise farewell and then he ran to the elevator. The redhead was intensely impatient on the elevator. He tapped his foot and checked his watch about seventeen times before getting off and rushing to the hotel room.
Akashi swiped the key card to open the door and entered the room. He just wanted to hold the blue haired boy.
Kuroko turned to face the redhead, his hands still trembling slightly and sighed, "I'm sorry, Akashi-kun. I have something to confess. It seems I've fallen for you."
The redhead felt the warmth in his chest spread throughout his body and he quickly closed the distance between them.
The kiss was unexpected but perfect. Kuroko had his arms wrapped around Akashi's neck as he played with the strands of red hair at the nape of his neck and Akashi wrapped his arms around the blue haired boy's back to bring their bodies closer together.
The blue haired boy sighed softly into the kiss. It was absolutely breathtaking. Akashi parted their lips for a moment only to pick Kuroko up and toss him on the bed. They moved in a graceful dance, unsure of each other's boundaries yet feeling that everything was okay. Kuroko gripped the redhead's shirt and lightly tugged on it, wanting it to come off. Akashi chuckled when he noticed and quickly made work with the buttons of their shirts. Their night was spent making love to each other and it ended with Kuroko sleeping against the redhead's bare chest and Akashi whispering,
"Stay with me."
Kuroko and Akashi woke up early the next day to take the necklace to an appraiser. They decided that the blue haired boy would sell it since he looked more innocent.
"Two weeks went by pretty quickly." Kuroko said as he faced the redhead.
Akashi took a long look at the beautiful boy before him and nodded, "It did. Next time, you should come here to see me."
The blue haired boy smiled, "Maybe I will."
Kuroko walked into the store and saw a police officer with green hair at the front desk.
"Hello, my name is Midorima Shintarou. I'm the detective who will be collecting the necklace and then take Akashi Seijuro to jail." The man said.
"What?" The blue haired boy questioned, a little confused.
The detective sighed, "I gave Akashi two weeks to return the necklace to me and I would let him walk. Yet here you are, trying to sell it."
Kuroko racked his brain for ideas and then he said, "I'll return this necklace to you and then pretend I sold it, would that be alright? I'll give you 200,000 dollars. Can you write that up on a fancy cheque from this store so it's more believable?"
Midorima signaled to the store owner to do as told and then the detective asked the blue haired boy, "Why go through the trouble of saving a thief?"
Kuroko took the cheque and smiled at the detective, "Because he's human and he's trying his best too. Maybe I love him."
When the blue haired boy left the store, he ran to Akashi and showed him the cheque.
"Sorry I couldn't get more, they only gave me 200,000 for the necklace." Kuroko said.
The redhead's eyes were glowing, "This is more than enough. Oh my gosh, thank you. Thank you, Tetsuya. Thank you so much."
The blue haired boy smiled, "I've got to run to the airport. I'll see you around though."
Akashi embraced Kuroko one last time and held his hands. They stood face to face, accepting the comforting silence. And then, the blue haired boy moved back, letting his hands fall from Akashi's grip.
They didn't say goodbye. Just smiled. A few minutes after Kuroko had left, Midorima exited the store and stood beside the redhead.
Akashi looked straight forward, "You can arrest me. I think I've gotten all I wanted in my life. A beautiful family, beautiful money, beautiful land, and a beautiful love."
"You're off the hook." Midorima said.
The redhead looked stunned, "What do you mean?"
"Think about it, that necklace was worth way more than 200,000. That boy walked into the store and walked out. Somewhere in this world, there is a boy who is 200,000 dollars short because he loves you." The detective said calmly.
Akashi's eyes met the detective's. The redhead's eyes shimmered with hope but he was nervous. He was scared to present his worthless self to someone as angelic as Kuroko.
Midorima nodded, "It's okay to hope, Akashi. It's okay to love. Go."
At those words, Akashi ran. He called for a taxi and headed for the airport.
Kuroko stood in the line to board the plane. He felt like he was leaving a big part of himself behind, but he knew it was for the best.
When the redhead arrived at the airport a few minutes later, he ran to look for the plane which the blue haired boy was boarding.
Kuroko sat closest to the window and the world dulled around him. He started to feel his nerves acting up from his fear of flying. He closed his eyes tightly and hoped that the plane would take off soon.
Akashi pushed through the airport security and ran into the plane hoping to get a glimpse of that blue hair once again and feel it tickling his neck as they slept together.
Kuroko took deep breaths, his hands trembling. Flying was terrifying.
"Shh, it's alright. It's okay. We haven't started moving yet. Don't worry. Just listen to my voice. It's alright." A voice said and the warmth of someone's hand covered his own.
Kuroko opened his eyes and he felt like he was staring at the sunset. He was staring at rubies and diamonds.
Akashi felt like he was staring at the way the sun glistened on the surface of the ocean. He felt like he was staring at the sky on a perfect spring day.
When their eyes met, their memories rushed back.
"Tetsuya, stay with me."
"Okay." Kuroko said without a single care in the world.
The blue haired boy eventually moved to Paris to live with Akashi on the newly bought land where their vineyard was successful. They got their tattoos after settling into their new home and they spent their lives happily together.
"Sei-chan, you never really talked to me in French even though you've grown up here all your life." Kuroko said as they lay together on the bed.
"Ah, well...that's a little embarrassing. What do you want to hear?" The redhead said as he lightly brushed his lover's blue hair away from his face.
Kuroko giggled and said, "Can you sing for me?"
Akashi burst out laughing, "Tetsuya, you know I can't sing."
"Try for me, my little duckling." The blue haired boy said as he kissed the redhead's neck softly.
"Quand il me prend dans ses bras, qu'il me parle tous bas. Je vois la vie en rose. Il me dit des mots d'amour, des mots de tous les jours et ca m'fait quelque chose." Akashi sang quietly.
Kuroko hummed in happiness as he listened to the redhead continue singing. "I love you so much, Sei-chan."
"Mm, je t'aime aussi."
They spent years and year together. Grew old together and retired together. They traveled the world and even stayed friends with Aomine and Kise. After many years of happiness, Kuroko passed away followed by Akashi seven years later.
