A/N: Hey, guys. In the previous chapter, Little Mac faced Bald Bull, but lost, and later explained his sad story to Doc Louis, who decided to stay by his side. Mac now has ideas for training. Let's see what it is.

Chapter 10: Special Training

''So, Mac, how do you see defeat?'' asked Doc Louis.

''Normally I don't mind losing, but because of the way my former coach treated me, I started to see defeat in a more negative way. It must be his influence.'' replied Little Mac.

''You don't need to worry about defeat.'' said Doc. ''Do you still see your small size as a weakness?'' he asked.

''A bit. Being small, I am not very resistant, and I am not physically strong like Bald Bull and the others above him. Throughout my life, my short stature has been the reason for my problems.''

"Stature doesn't make you who you really are, Mac. Remember that being small, you are hard to hit, and this makes you more agile, since you are light. What's more, you are not short. Your height is just slightly below average, but in sports, it is very common to find tall men, and since you are seventeen, your body is still growing: the body of an adult male stops growing towards twenty years of age.''

Mac was perplexed and felt that Doc was right. ''You are right. I have a few ideas for training.''

''Let's hear it.'' said Doc.

''Today, we will do a workout to improve my speed, then tomorrow resistance and finally strength the day after tomorrow.'' explained the boy.

''Good idea. It is currently raining, so it might be a good opportunity to increase your speed and endurance at the same time: if you run on wet floors, it is more difficult to maintain control than to run on dry floors.'' agreed Doc.

The first day of training began. After putting on his pants and hoodie, Mac started running down the wet road and following Doc, who was on his bike. Constantly drinking water and eating chocolate bars to keep his energy constant, he managed to keep up with his coach and even to speed him up, and ten minutes later, he took him to two houses. ''Take a look at this.'' he said.

The boy jumped to the wall and climbed briefly, then gave himself a boost with his feet, reaching the top in less than a minute.(1) Afterwards, he jumped down to return to where he was before, placing his hands and feet against the walls to slow down the fall so that he could safely land. ''What do you think about that?'' he asked.

Doc was speechless. ''Wow! Your agility seems to have improved a lot!'' he exclaimed.

Later, the two reached a bridge, and Mac, located on the edge, began to do crunches to strengthen his abs, with Doc holding him by the legs to prevent him from falling into the water.

''Mac, I appreciate your desire to train, I want you to do it too, but are you sure it's not dangerous?'' asked the man, a bit worried. He appreciated Mac's efforts, but didn't want him to push himself beyond his limits.

''Don't worry. If I manage to win, it will be worth it.'' replied the boy, continuing to do crunches.

The next day, Mac began an exercise to improve his reflexes: Doc would throw small balls at him and he had to move sideways or move his head and arms to prevent them from touching him. Out of 100 balls, he managed to avoid 96.

''Great job, Mac! Keep it up!'' cried Doc.

Afterwards, there was a small training match between the two, in which Mac had to intercept or dodge the blows of his coach and fight back as always.

''Don't stop, kid!''

After that, Mac went to rest to continue training tomorrow.

On the third day, Doc took Mac to the nearest gym. ''Now it's time to increase your strength. By lifting the dumbbells and barbells, you will gain more muscle. If you want, you can lift the weights on the flat bench or do crunches while holding a dumbbell with your feet. '' he said.

The young man then started to lift weights, and everything went well, but after half an hour, when he lifted two dumbbells, both of 25 kg, he almost tripped, but managed to stand up. Instead, when he lifted a barbell of 70 kg, he lost his balance and fell to the ground, and the barbell fell on his neck. ''Ack! Right in the trachea!'' he exclaimed, and began to cough.

''Are you all right, son?'' asked Doc worriedly.

''I'm fine. I must keep going.'' Mac replied. He tried again, and this time he was able to lift the barbell successfully, then he did the same with the flat bench for some time and did some crunches while holding a 10 kg dumbbell with the fingers of the feet. After about a couple of hours, he stopped, all sweaty and with his hair disheveled.

''You look tired. Let's go back to the WVBA headquarters and take a shower, then you can rest for a while.'' said the coach.

The two returned to the dressing room and Mac took a shower. He looked in the mirror and saw that his biceps were now more muscular than before, as well as his legs. Looking at his chest, he noticed that his abs were also more developed. ''It will be worth it, Doc. If you see Bald Bull or someone else, tell them that the day after tomorrow I will face him in a rematch.'' he said.

''All right. How are you feeling?'' asked Doc.

''I feel in great shape.'' said the boy. Suddenly, he yawned and saw that the sun was slowly starting to set. ''I'm exhausted, I need to rest. Mum is probably making dinner.''

''I do not doubt it. You have spent three whole days training, and the results are visible, but without taking some rest, you will not go far. You deserve some rest, so you'll be ready for the day after tomorrow.'' said the coach.

''Okay. See ya, Doc.''

''See you tomorrow, son.''

A/N: Little Mac has finished his special training, and the rematch is in two days. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and see you next time. Keep following me and my stories, including this one. Bye!
