You could start by saying, "It started off as one sunny Friday in a small town" and nothing would seem out of the ordinary, primarily because nothing of any interest happened in this lame town. But no, it was storming. Not the kind of storms that made you think, 'Oh how pleasant this is! I'll just go ahead and sit on the porch and watch as it trickles down!" Nope. It was more like "Oh Larry, get yer tubes and come on down! We're drinking beers!" Yep, we have those kinds of people here.

Welcome to Allendale.

The bell rang and we all filed out of the class, most people getting shoved over as others rushed by. Scanning the crowds, I began looking for the small brunette who'd usually come waddling over with some sort of snack tucked away in her arms. Quickly spotting her, I dodged the other people as I crossed the hall making sure to avoid the cringy couple leaning against the lockers near me. "Em!" She glanced over; a large grin splayed across her face.

"EEK!" She jumped from excitement, the bag of chips under her right arm shaking. "Are you as pumped for tonight as I am?" Tonight would be the weekly movie nights we'd have over at our house, where she and Becka would pig out on all junk food imaginable while tucked under a pile of blankets with pillows surrounding them. I very rarely partook in the ritual, instead preferring to hide away with a book in a corner and ignore the horrid singing coming from the room nearby. They would usually pick between a stereotypical old horror film, a Disney classic, or quite recently deciding on an anime.

Bekah met up with us at the exit and shot a guilty look towards Emily through her copper bangs. "There's a slight dilemma with tonight... Mum determined last minute that we're heading out of town for the weekend for the lake, so we'll have to postpone."

Emily sighed and looked up at me, fluttering her eyelashes slightly and pouted while I looked at her with a deadpanned stare, not budging. We continued our way forward, making it to the car where we said our goodbyes, "Text me when you get a chance!" Emily hugged her and watched her walk over to where her mom parked. Hopping into the dark grey Explorer, I started it up and pulled out of the lot, continuing the drive home.

Emily persisted with begging again, "How about one episode? They're about 25 minutes and it'll be over before you know it!"

I glanced at her, my mind mainly focused on the road ahead, "I don't quite know, kid. Homework has been a bit hefty lately and I've got cramming to do for the finals coming up." She pushed her head onto the glass to her right letting out a groan, her hands crossing over her chest. "But," Ashley continued, "I think I can set aside some time tonight to spend with you."

"Woo! This'll be awesome, just you wait!"

"This is definitely NOT awesome!" Emily cried, watching as the screen remained black.

I continued messing with the cords in the back while pressing the buttons on the remote in an attempt to get the screen working again. "Maybe the storm did something to mess it up? I don't really know what else could've happened."

Emily ended up picking out an anime that she had taken a recent fascination for, Fullmetal Alchemist, which she insisted that I would "definitely most certainly" enjoy. We made it a few minutes into the episode when the screen suddenly turned off, while all the remaining lights around us stayed on. An idea popped into my head, "Ah! Maybe it short-circuited itself!"

Emily looked at me frowning. "Of all the times it could have happened, why does it have to be now." I turned to her and shrugged, rising off the floor and heading back over to the couch grabbing the bowl of popcorn that sat next to her. Tossing a piece in my mouth I plopped down, setting the bowl onto my lap and snatching my bag that rested against the couch, grabbing my chem book that hid inside and opened it up.

Emily huffed and got up, disappearing into the room next door. Hearing the faucet turn on I continued my focus on the project before me. I began mumbling to myself "Molecular orbital theory… Quantum mechanics… Electrons…"

The tv suddenly flickered on and I looked up, furrowing my brows. An all-white screen was present, a strange-looking doorway of sorts in the center. My eyes widened and I closed the book in front of me, placing slowly to the side. "Em?" I muttered, glancing behind to see if she heard me. I spoke louder, "Emily!" Footsteps began heading in my direction, stopping in the doorframe.

"Holy bananas! What's happening?!" I heard her whisper. Looking over, I saw her standing still; eyes focused on the terrifying image before us.

I let out a nervous chuckle, "I was hoping you knew…"

A figure appeared in front of the gateway on the screen, not quite a body but a black outline of one filled in with slight imprints of a mouth, nose, and eyes. The figure was all white, with a slightly creepy grin placed on its face. "Hello humans, you must know who I am, however, I will let you know again. I am called by many names, I'm the world, I'm the universe, I'm God, I'm Truth, I am all. I am one, and I am also you."

I blinked in confusion, "I don't understand…"

"You will soon enough." It continued, as Emily came over and stood next to me, "I want to mix things up a little, put some spice in, and I am thinking you two are the perfect candidates for the job at hand."

I stared in awe at the creature before us and Emily took my hand gripping it tightly. "Don't worry, this won't hurt a bit!" My eyesight faded and darkness overtook me as I collapsed to the ground, hearing the muffled thud of my sister falling beside me.
