I met with Annabeth on Half-Blood hill the next day near the Golden Fleece. She looked like she didn't sleep either.

"You ready, Seaweed Brain?" she asked warily,

"Sure, as ready as I'll ever be, I guess."

We walked through the camp and arrived at Zeus's Fist. If you didn't know, Zeus's Fist is actually an entrance to the Labrinth, a set of tunnels and passages arranged like a maze. Annabeth tells me that the Labrinth has become less of a problem since the death of its creator, Daedalus (long story).

We entered the Labyrinth and Annabeth lead the way, "Be careful, Percy, I am going where the mist is the strongest, and that's where we are most easily fooled."

"Great," I muttered,

We went through the Labyrinth for hours (although Annabeth insisted that we only walked for about 15 minutes), when we reached a dead end and found stairs leading up, out of the maze. Outside, was the woods south of camp, across the highway.

We hiked through the woods, Annabeth leading the way with a compass. The birds chirped happily in the trees and the sound of flowing water splashed in the distance. Grover would have loved it. Thinking about Grover brought back painful memories, he is out in the mortal world, recruiting demigods to join Camp Half-Blood.

"Hey," Annabeth sympathetically looked me in the eye, she seems to know exactly what I am thinking.

"Grover will be fine, he is a strong satyr."

Suddenly we heard hissing, like two snakes trying to talk to each other. That usually means something bad is going to happen. We froze, Annabeth put her finger over her mouth and signaled for me to get down.

We crouched carefully behind a shrub, and watched as a two-headed snake, with one head on each end, slithered towards us. It's an Amphisbaena, she mouthed, excellent hearing, killed only with vine-branch.

Wait, vine-branch? I thought,

Where is your cap? I mouthed back,

She did not have time to respond, because just then, a squirrel ran past us squeaking in horror. The two heads turned in our direction and advanced.

I pulled out my trusty sword, Riptide, and uncapped it. You take left, I take right. I mouthed, she tried to protest but was cut off by the sound of the Amphisbaena roaring, it sounded so horrible that every instinct in my body screamed, RUNNN! But I kept my cool. I raised my hand,

Three,

Two,

One,

I jumped out from behind the bush and the two heads turned to look at me and hissed. I swung my sword at the closest head and the head fell right off, Well that was easy, but I wished I had not thought that. As if on cue, the head started to grow back. I saw the same thing that happened with Annabeth who shouted, "Percy, pray to Dionysus!"

What? I thought, Why in Hades would I do that! But I didn't have time to think, I ran to the middle of the snake and raised my sword. Please don't grow back, please don't grow back.

Of course, it grew back.

Somewhere to the right, I heard Annabeth scream, "Annabeth!" I yelled.

The two heads turned towards me and I did the natural thing: I prayed to Dionysus.

I know, the chances of that happening are even lower than voluntarily listening to Chiron's collection.

For a second, nothing happened. The snake slithered closer, droplets of venom splattered my face.

Then another surprising thing happened:

A gigantic grape branch fell out of the sky and crushed the Amphisbaena with a mighty thump.
