Chapter 10.
It's been two weeks since Rafael came home. She's seen David once in the park and spoken more or less every evening. Now it's a Friday and Rafael is in court for most of the day and she hasn't spoken to David yet.
Fin walks into the office with a quick knock on the door. "Liv... you got a sec?"
"Yeah. Sure what's wrong?"
"There's a phone call for you. They didn't tell me a name. Apparently you'll know what it's about. You are not leaving are you?"
"No."
"I'll put it through then."
Fin puts the phone call through to Olivia.
"Lieutenant Benson's phone."
"Hey Gorgeous. Or should i say Lieutenant?"
"Hang a second."
She puts the phone on the desk and heads to the team. "Listen up. I got to take this call. If you have any updates for me bring them to Fin. Fin if you think they need my approval text or email me and I'll come off the phone."
"You got it boss." Fin says.
She goes back to the phone, shutting her door with a slam on the way. "Hey..."
"You didn't mind did you?"
"I mean considering we are hiding this... I should but no I didn't. Just don't do it too often."
"I'm suprised Fin didn't recognise me."
"He did. He just won't say. Especially not infront of an office."
"Did he know last time?"
"About us... No not as far as I know."
"Okay. So... I was wondering if I could take you out at some point?" David asks.
Olivia is just about to answer when Rafael can be heard outside. Shit...
"... I'll have to check my calendar."
"Rafael there.
"Yeah. He's outside. Looks like Fin is talking to him."
"Ugh... I was starting to like this conversation."
"You know that is a problem for me too. I will text you later. I gotta deal with this. Thanks for the call."
"Hopefully that won't be too long. Lieutenant."
Olivia puts the phone down. "Hey." She says getting up to see Rafael.
"Sorry if I disturbed your call. Fin said it was a friend you hadn't seen in a while."
"Yeah. He just got back into the city after a few years away for work and family reasons i think. We didn't get to talk to much about it."
She turns to Fin. "Did anything come up?"
"No. After your meeting with Barba can we talk about something more personal alone?"
"Sure."
Barba looks at Fin. "If you want to do it now i can wait?"
"Nah man. You go see Liv. You two haven't seen each other for a few days."
It's true. They have barely spoken. "Okay. Thanks." Rafael says.
Olivia and Rafael spend some time together and when Carisi brings them donuts, Rafael leaves with two donuts and a refill of coffee.
Fin walks into Olivias office with her after they say goodbye to Rafael, who has to be back in court. They shut the door and Olivia takes one look at Fin. He knows. He 100% knows. "He doesn't know about Haden being back. Does he?"
Here goes. She thinks.
"No. I need to keep it that way. Haden said that they have a history. David said that Rafael punched him after David screwed a job up so he could get it instead of Rafael."
"Okay. There's nothing going on is there Liv?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well... there was always a buzz between you and Haden back then. You know I'd have your back."
"Do you remember that meeting at 1PP that i had no idea about and went home early?"
"Yeah."
"David showed up whilst I was doing my speech. He found out i was there and wanted to see me. We walked out of the meeting together. We left via the stairs and I fell. David caught me..."
"And it was the same feelings as last time."
"Fin... I shouldn't want it."
"Dam right you shouldn't. But Olivia. I remember when you were talking about when Rafael and you were first together. You lit up then. But now... you could light up the rest of Manhattan."
Olivia sighs. "What do I do Fin?"
"You tell me the rest of your meeting with Mr Lover."
Olivia has to laugh at that. "He caught me. I spent a few seconds too long in his arms. We came out of the building. We were laughing and close to each other. It just felt so..."
"Normal?" Fin tries to guess where she was going.
"Yeah. So then he asks me to dinner. My brain is screaming No and that I'm with Rafael but we go anyway. For some reason before I had even listened to my brain we were walking into this little italian place. We talked. Then he gave me his number and for the next few nights we chatted constantly and we ended up agreeing to dinner. That ends up just being at his."
"Did you sleep with him?"
"We argued. He kissed me. We finished the pizza and then... We kissed again and we went to bed. The next day, he takes me out again. Oh he bought my dress too.."
"Is there anything this guy hasn't done?"
"Given up being an E.A.D.A."
"He's still an attorney?"
"Yes."
"Alright Liv. If you need my advice you need to make a choice soon."
"I will. I'm just nervous."
"Well. You know I'll be here for you whatever happens."
"Thank you."
