May 27 - 2019
"See you later?" Peter planted a kiss on Gwen's forehead. They stood in front of the Daily Bugle's main entrance.
Gwen nodded with a tiny yet lovely smile. "Very likely." She fixed the collar of Peter's coat while his arms remained wrapped around her waist.
"I'm going to miss you know? I've grown used to being around you most of the day."
"Don't worry." Gwen kissed his lips. "You don't want to be late, right?"
"And you, Gwendy..." Peter brushed his lips against hers, before softly kissing it for one last time. "... don't get yourself into any trouble."
"I won't." She hugged him closely for a few seconds, before releasing her now-husband and walking away from him. She made her way towards Empire State University.
Peter observed Gwen distancing herself from him before finally disappearing within the crowd on the sidewalk. He shrugged his shoulders and sighed. "Alright, time rob Jameson once again." He entered the building and pressed the elevator's button.
He patiently waited for its arrival.
The doors opened with the workers stepping outside. Peter quickly stood aside and away from their paths. Once empty, he entered the elevator and pressed the respective button of his office.
As the doors slowly closed, someone called urgently, "Hey, Peter!" Eddie hurried inside the elevator. He wore a proper suit and suitcase.
"Mr. Brock." Peter smiled.
"Hey, man. How are you doing?" Eddie asked as they greeted each other.
"Still alive. You?"
Eddie exhaled sharply. "Rather nervous, but excited." He affirmed. "By the way, did you hear about that accident involving one of Oscorp's heads?"
"No, I didn't." Peter raised an eyebrow. I just got back from my honeymoon. What happened?"
"Alistair Smythe. His car wasn't moving, and suddenly... it exploded with him inside... nasty stuff. There was nothing left of him. At least that's what I read."
Peter widened his eyes. "That's… crazy."
"I know, right?"
Peter cleared his throat. "Ready to meet your illustrious new boss?"
Eddie chuckled lightly. "That bad, uh?"
Peter watched the floor count change. "Worse."
Empire State University
"So, this is your job...?" MJ sat on the chair set against Gwen's desk. She looked at the already opened files and tried to make some sense of them.
"That's right." Gwen drank the water from the bottle she held in her right hand. "What do you think? I decorated it myself." She leaned her bottom against her desk.
The room had a dark yellow painting theme with some brow lines in the middle of the walls. Her desk was set in front of the window. Her laptop was found next to the picture Aunt May had taken of her and Peter during graduation. On the wall, a bookshelf could be seen.
"I would love to work somewhere like this." She looked at the portrait. "You guys look so good here."
Gwen nodded. "Thank you. That's from our graduation, it feels like ages."
MJ smiled and placed the picture back into its original place. "How were things in France?"
"It was… great, like - you have no idea. It's so beautiful, cozy, and welcoming..." She exhaled deeply and smiled happily. "... just fantastic."
"I can only guess. There was this year when I went to England because of an acting class my agent had me subscribed to."
Gwen was surprised. "You went to England? I was there too. We could have met."
MJ teased, "You're such a little genius, aren't you?"
Gwen shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I do enjoy what I do for a living."
"I understand. It wasn't easy to dedicate my life towards acting since my family never supported me."
"Hey, you are one of the finest actresses on Broadway, you should be proud of yourself and your accomplishments."
"You are... exaggerating." MJ blushed, lightly.
"No, I'm not." Gwen shook her head and spoke reassuringly, "Don't let your past ruin your future."
MJ paused at her friend's kind words. "... thank you, I'm really glad to have you here." She smiled.
"So do I." Gwen smiled back.
MJ was probably the closest friend she ever had for a couple of years. Someone always willing to listen or lend a shoulder if needed. She wouldn't let that friendship ever end, not if she had a say on it.
Gwen broke the silence, "I suppose this is the part when we get married?" She joked.
MJ chuckled ."You're already married so that's not possible anymore."
"True." Gwen smiled back. "Come now, I'm going to show you the labs." She took MJ by the hand and led her towards the door.
New York - D Station
Peter arrived in the dark tunnel of the station his father's secret lab was located in. He crawled on the ceiling and towards the location where the train was hidden. He then landed in the train's tracks and brought the train to his sight after inserting one of the coins in the gates.
The whole location remained pretty much the same since the last time he saw it before going after Gwen. A couple of extra dust and webbing could be seen. Peter scanned the place with his eyes and searched for something that could help him to understand what was currently covering his Spider-Man suit
He didn't mind the change, far from it. But Gwen had been pressuring him to check on it.
"Alright… time to understand what you really are."
Now inside the train, Peter opened his backpack and retrieved the black spandex. He unzipped a single glove from the suit and placed it underneath the lens of the old microscope. It was working just fine.
"That's… um, a little weird."
Peter watched the living black molecules. They were stirring rather nervously. Gwen was right after all.
"Not weird, but… different, I guess." He continued, "Connors should probably know more about this." He shut down the microscope. "But then again... what could go wrong?"
Peter sighed. He turned the microscope off and packed his things again. He went to one last look around and headed for the door. He stood still.
"Goodbye, Richard…"
Half an hour later...
Spider-Man swung through the city and tightly held himself onto the webbing in his right hand. The webbing eventually brought him close to the side of the building. He ran against the wall while still holding the webline in his hand. He then jumped off the wall and allowed gravity to push him near the ground before he fired another webline at the last possible moment.
May had requested his presence for something she didn't feel like telling him on the phone.
Many sirens could be heard back at ground level. He landed on some wall to observe the stir coming from his left side. There were two fire trucks and four police cars avoiding the traffic so that they could reach their objective.
"... they don't need me," Spider-Man sighed. He wasn't over the day when the police force tried to arrest him.
He made his way up the wall, but the sirens were only getting louder.
"Argh…!" He slammed his fist against the wall, the concrete shattered at his touch. He jumped backward as he opened his arms, before firing a web-line and tagging along with the task force back on the ground.
"Hold on...!" Spider-Man shouted as he avoided the debris falling from the ceiling. He held in his arms an injured woman while he hurried towards the only exit available. A shattered window.
The woman realized what his plan was. She held him tightly.
Spider-Man leaped towards the window and broke the glass with his shoulder. He shot a webline to slow down their descent as they landed on the crowded street. He quickly walked to the nearest ambulance and laid the woman down on the medical stretcher.
He assured her, "You are going to be fine, ma'am."
"T-Thank you..." She replied, still recovering her long-lost breath.
Spider-Man turned on his back and informed the paramedic team that recently arrived and were now standing behind him, "She was the last one."
"Thank you, Spider-Man." The leader nodded thankfully, for living such a unique day of meeting New York's favorite hero. "We are glad for always being able to count on your help."
"Yeah..." Spider-Man rubbed the back of his neck. "Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood -"
"Hey!" A police officer accompanied by others, called from behind the medical team as they quickly hurried towards them. "You have to come with me, Spider-Man, now." He ordered as they slowly cornered the Web-Slinger.
He sighed heavily. "Couldn't you just let me finish...ugh, why...?"
"Orders, you are wanted for obstruction of justice." The officer explained.
"And you think you can simply arrest me, cop-boy?" Spider-Man challenged. "You think the Avengers are going to handle situations like these if I'm not present? You're a fool then."
"Don't make this go harder than it already is..."
He snarled, "You gotta be kidding me..."
"Unfortunately, no...I disagree with them, but orders are orders..." He retrieved a handcuff from his pant's pocket and went to grab Spider-Man's hands. "I'm sorry-"
Spider-Man quickly webbed the incoming hand to the asphalt as the other cops around the hero tried to grab him but he quickly jumped over the stuck cop, making them crash against each other in the process as he started to swing towards the building where he left his backpack with all his stuff so that he could later catch the train to Queens.
Queens
Peter quickly climbed the steps on May's porch and opened the door to her house. He was immediately greeted by the welcoming party. They all spoke together, "Happy Birthday!"
May and Gwen were accompanied by Flash and MJ. A cake was set over a coffee table in the middle of the living room. The whole area was well decorated for him.
"Um…" Peter smiled, confused. He had forgotten about his birthday. "Thanks, guys." He dropped his backpack onto the couch and approached May so that he could hug her first.
"Twenty-five years old." May hugged him back. "You're getting old, mister."
He chuckled and spoke as they parted, "I know… my knee is already creaky." He planted a kiss on her forehead and then moved to Flash. The latter held a red box in his hands.
"It's your day, Puny Parker."
Peter smiled. "Thanks for being here." He patted him on the shoulder.
"Come here now," Flash pulled Peter into a tight hug. "There's no Thompson without Parker. "Here's your gift." He handed the box to Peter.
He unwrapped the box and spotted the white shirt with a black spider set in the middle of it.
"Thanks, buddy. This is great." Peter smiled. He wore the shirt down his current one and moved to face Mary Jane.
They hugged. She handed him another box and said, "Happy birthday, Pete. I heard you like to listen to some music while working out."
He smiled and gave her a nod. He found the wireless earphones within the box. "These will be great. Thanks again."
"You're welcome." She smiled.
Peter carried the two boxes in his left hand and approached the couch. His wife was sitting in it.
"Hey," Gwen stood on her feet and embraced him.
"Happy Birthday." She broke the kiss and whispered back in his ear.
Peter was handed a grey and smaller box. "What 's this?"
She teased, "Open it, duh."
Peter unpacked his gift and analyzed the grey locket that contained a small picture of them in their wedding. He had been hugging Gwen from behind.
"Did you… like it?"
"I love it… it's perfect. Thank you." He gave her a quick peck on the lips and moved the locket inside the box once again.
Gwen snaked her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He kissed her arm and enjoyed the endless hug for a few more couple seconds. They later parted while Peter headed for the cake and picked the knife in his right hand. He smiled, "Who wants the first slice?"
Harry's Apartment
"There are no setbacks as of now," Fiers spoke. He stood beside Harry. They were both found on the rooftop of the building Harry was staying on.
"That's… um, good." Harry took a sip of his martini. He held the glass in his left hand.
"They do wonder why you're missing lately. I had to put some chains on Max, he killed Smithe."
"... I've been quite busy lately."
Fiers looked over his shoulder and towards Harry. "So it seems. May I know why?"
Harry raised an eyebrow. "Personal stuff." He questioned, "Did you know my father much?"
"I knew him, yes. Is there anything you want to know in particular?"
Harry sighed, "I've been wondering why you truly wanted to help me. It was very sudden."
"Your father and I had much business together, you accepted my help."
Harry nodded. "... sure." He moved his sight to Fiers' figure. "So, you must know why Oscorp had been spying on Peter."
"Probably because of his connection to Richard, and they were right after all."
"Still, spying on a kid…"
"And Richard stole their research. Take it as a precaution." Fiers turned on his feet and began to walk towards the entrance of the rooftop. "I should go now. I wanted to let you know that your absence is felt. We've come a long way so far, there's no time for hesitance."
Harry looked over the city and took a sip of his drink. "... right."
He wondered what he should do next.
Queens - May's House
Peter adjusted the chicken sausage in the grill that was set in the backyard of May's house. He had been chatting with Flash for the last couple of minutes. The ladies were sitting in the chairs further in the backyard, they were all laughing at something.
Flash spoke, "The Australian heat… our training there was quite an experience."
Peter smiled. "You've been all over the world, ain't you?"
"Hey, that's one of the few perks of the navy." He added, "Then there's the accent… coming from a woman it's the hottest thing there is. Trust me."
"Oh, I trust you alright." Peter sliced one of the sausages in many pieces and offered one to Flash with his fork.
"Thank you." He moved the piece of meat to his mouth and savored its taste. "Did you hear that the cops are again after Spider-Man? "
"That seems to happen at least once every week."
"They have no idea of what they're doing. Spider-Man can't do any wrong. It wouldn't make sense."
Peter chuckled. "I guess."
"You take pictures for him, you would know."
"He doesn't say many things to me. You would be surprised."
Flash laughed, shortly. "Sure thing." He continued, "Hey… it's been crazy, eh? I mean, years ago when we were in high school, I treated you harshly for a while, and now here we are… somehow."
Peter took two bears from the cooler box set next to the grill. He handed one to Flash and took out the cap with his teeth. "Everything happens for a reason… we were young and that was then, here's to now."
Flash smiled and took the cap off his bottle. "Here's to us."
Later in the night, most guests had already left Peter's birthday party. He felt exhausted as he entered the living room, finding Gwen curled on the couch. slept peacefully against a pillow, a blue sheet covered most of her body.
The lightened fireplace made the couch even more inviting. He sat beside his wife and planted a kiss on her cheek.
"Careful to not wake her up." Aunt May entered the room and sat in a chair so that she could face her. "MJ just left."
Peter smiled. "Can we stay here for the night?"
"Of course," May gave him a nod. "You two can sleep in your old room."
"Thank you, Aunt May."
"Before I forget… this man was looking for you when you were away."
"Really?"
May frowned. "Yeah… I couldn't see much of his face. He seemed to have these… green marks on his neck. He couldn't be much older than you."
Peter cleared his throat. "That's… unexpected, but thanks for letting me know. I'll check on some acquaintances of mine, maybe it's one of them."
"Okay, honey. I'm going to catch some sleep now, okay?" Peter nodded. May rose from the chair and approached Peter so that she could plant a kiss on his forehead. She then placed something cold and metallic on his free hand. It was Ben's watch. "Happy Birthday."
May left the couple alone and headed upstairs.
Peter smiled and wore the watch around his left wrist. He couldn't be happier. Ben carried the watch around quite frequently. He sighed and looked at his wife. He gently slipped his arms underneath Gwen and brought her closer to his chest.
Peter carried Gwen upstairs and headed for his old bedroom. His bed was already arranged with pillows and covers. It wasn't the size they were now used to, but the couple could fit on it by snuggling closely. They had spent nights together in it when they first started dating.
Peter gently laid Gwen down on the bed. He carefully started to remove her jeans and later unbuttoned her blouse so that she could sleep more comfortably. He took off his jeans and shirt, placing them over the computer's chair. He laid down next to his wife and embraced her from behind, keeping her warm and safe.
He planted a kiss on the back of her neck. "You are everything to me. I love you."
The next morning...
Gwen lazily stirred under the sheets and opened her eyes. She felt pressed against something in the little space available. She looked over her shoulder and found Peter holding her close against him. They were inside his former bedroom. She smiled, contently.
She eventually managed to move off the bed and then made her way to the bathroom. She opened the mirror and found her old toothbrush that remained well preserved. After brushing her teeth, she combed her hair and later closed the mirror. She looked at herself through it. It made her think about what happened in the last couple of years, from dating a cute and handsome vigilante to losing her father who helped her, in the time, boyfriend to save the whole city from Connors and then breaking up with Peter more than once. She also almost lost her life too.
A lot has taken place so far.
After splashing some cold water on her face and getting herself ready for the day, she stepped outside the bathroom and wore her clothes that were set on the ground. She pulled the sheets up to his neck and headed downstairs. Aunt May was already found in the kitchen arranging their morning meal.
"Good morning." Gwen felt the scent of fresh coffee within the room.
"Hello, sweetie." May placed the homemade bread over the table and looked up at her. "Did you sleep well?"
"Of course." Gwen approached May and helped her by setting up the table. "I'm sorry for spending the night here out without asking for your permission in advance."
"You don't need to apologize." She replied, gently. "The door is always open for you two. It's fine."
"Thank you."
May turned to the stove. "Do you want some coffee?"
Gwen nodded, "Oh, please."
"How's your work going?" She handed the warm cup to Gwen who thanked her in return.
"It's great, I really couldn't wish for a better job right now. She added, "Sure, the pressure is always up there, but I like the people around me and what I do as well."
"I'm glad you think that way. We should enjoy what we do for a living."
Gwen nodded and took a sip of her coffee. "And Peter is always helping me with some work stuff too."
May chuckled and retrieved the box of eggs from the fridge. She would make them some omelets.
"I guess he's still waking up late."
"Usually, but sometimes he just… goes to sleep late at night."
Peter jumped over the rail of the stairwell and entered the kitchen. "What are you two ladies talking about?"
Gwen looked over her shoulder, "Good morning. It's girl talk."
"Hungry, Peter?" Aunt May asked, finishing his infamous eggs.
Peter nodded. "My stomach is hurting so bad." He then sat down on the chair beside Gwen. "What's on the menu?"
A couple of years ago...
Harry Osborn slowly descended the glider towards the windowed gate in the destroyed lobby of the Oscorp Building. Many employees were running towards the entrance of the building, stumbling on the debris spread all over the ground. They were terrified at what had just happened inside the building. The CEO of Oscorp had completely obliterated the SWAT team that once waited for him near the elevator to Special Projects. They were all stabbed and bombed, one after the other.
Menken was the sole survivor. His right leg was injured, keeping him from moving himself away. He was on the ground, gasping harshly. He watched Harry stare at his reflection in the shielded gate.
Felicia Hardy stopped in her tracks once she spotted Harry wearing the power armor at the closed and transparent gate. Some green smoke began to come from his glider and slowly fill the room he was in. She was shocked by the terrible sight.
Felicia carefully walked in his direction. She stopped in front of him. The gate kept them apart. "Harry?"
Harry was brought back to the present. His eyes landed on her. It was too late. He began, "Get out..." She didn't move at first. "Get out..!'
Felicia flinched for a brief moment. She took one last glance at Harry and turned on her shoulder as she headed out for the exit.
Harry turned the glider on his shoulder and slowly headed towards Menken's direction, the latter had his back set against the wall. Harry let out the sharp blades of the glider and had them near Menken's face.
Menken raised his chin and stared back at Harry. The former CEO of Oscorp smiled at him.
Harry grabbed Menken by the collar and quickly flew toward the highest point within the building.
Menken begged, "Please...!"
"You were right!" Harry held Menken's by his cheek. "... the fall is fast and steep." He released Menken from his grip and watched gravity pull him towards ground level. Harry laughed as he watched the executive fall to his death.
Harry's Apartment - Present Time
Harry abruptly slipped off the couch and fell onto the cold floor. His shirt was sweaty. He sighed heavily and stared at the fancy ceiling of his living room. He once again dreamt of past events in his life.
The door to the balcony was open and allowed the fresh wind to enter the room and try to clear his thoughts. Harry struggled to decide which path he wanted to trace in his life. He somehow began questioning himself in the last couple of days. They had gotten so far, Fiers helped pull him from the ground.
Harry got off the floor and took his phone from the TV stand. He scrolled down the list of contacts and stopped on Peter's. He held the phone tightly in his hands, struggling with his self-consciousness.
He had to make a choice.
"I was thinking," Gwen began. The couple sat on the gargoyle. Peter hugged his wife from behind and had his legs around her. "It's kinda crazy how much we've been through. It's been what? About seven years...?
"We had a good ride."
"It hasn't stopped just yet." Gwen rested the back of her head against his shoulders. " I don't regret a thing. Do you wonder how things are going to be in the future?"
"Maybe a couple of cats and dogs, a proper grill." He teased, "...and maybe a child or two, maybe three."
Gwen was surprised. "Three?"
"Who knows?"
"I'm not sure you would have the energy for that."
Peter chuckled. He leaned into her neck and planted a soft kiss there, leaving Gwen with goosebumps. "There's something I do regret, though."
"I regret landing on your fire escape. I didn't know what I was doing, you would have figured out who I was even if you were not caught in my web later on."
Her eyes were rolling shortly after he finished talking. "Oh, come on. You don't regret that at all."
Peter smiled. "It did get you to marry me, eventually." He planted another kiss on her cheek. "I need to go back to the Bugle for a moment. I think you'd rather me drop you at home, right?"
She asked back, "What are you going to do there?"
"I need to give Jameson some new photos and wrap up the new design for the homepage." He explained.
"Okay, sure. You can drop me at home, honey."
They got on their feet. Peter wrapped his right arm around his wife and brought her closer to his body.
She looked at his darker costume and questioned, "Did you try to check what happened with this suit?"
He nodded, "It's… some kind of symbiote." Peter moved the mask down his face.
"Symbiote? Like a… parasite?"
"Something like that, but a benign one. I'm alright."
She saw her reflection through the lenses of his mask. "Are you certain about that?"
"I feel good… more than good." He added, "Connors should know something about it. I'll talk to him."
"Just… be careful, okay?"
"I will." Spider-Man fired a biocable to the opposite building while Gwen wrapped her arms around his neck. She exhaled deeply.
Hours later...
Gwen stepped out of her bedroom while she dried her hair with a towel. She entered the kitchen and spotted a maskless Peter Parker upside down with his feet set against the ceiling. He had his arms crossed. She questioned, "What are you doing...?"
He opened his eyes and turned on his feet without ever landing on the ground. "Just gathering my thoughts."
"Why don't you take the suit off? You look like a bat."
"I gotta be ready for anything." He replied, before landing back on the ground and stretching his shoulders.
Gwen cocked her head at him. "I think you need to take a break from it, Peter. Otherwise, it will glue itself to your skin, you're wearing it all the time."
Peter sighed in discontentment. He was about to land on the ground were it not for the phone vibrating in the pocket of his suit. The device emerged through the fabric as he took it in his hands. He looked at the screen. "... private call?"
Gwen shrugged her shoulders.
Peter brought the phone to his ears. "Yes?"
"Peter, it's Harry."
"... Harry?"
Gwen's eyes widened.
"I… I mean no harm."
"Where are you?" He landed back on the ground and stood on his feet. "What do you want?!"
"Peter...?" Gwen tried to calm him by placing her left hand on his shoulder.
"I need to talk to you… it's important."
Peter walked away from his wife. "Just like that?!" He closed his fist. "Where are you, Harry?"
"My father's penthouse, the one where we first played chess. I don't want to cause harm to any of you."
He's lying...
"Cut the crap, Harry!" Peter ended the call and immediately strolled towards the balcony's direction. Gwen joined him.
"Was that Harry?" She received a nod from her husband.
"What… what does he want?"
"I don't know." He looked over his shoulder and towards her. "But you're not coming with me."
"Peter… Peter, please stop!" She grabbed his arm and forced him to look at her. "It's probably a trap."
"I don't care!" He argued back. "I'm going to finish this once and for all, and you're just going to stay here." The suit covered his head with a self-made mask.
Gwen was shocked at what she had just seen. She shook her head. "So are you just going to kill him?"
Spider-Man stepped over the guardrail of the balcony and leaped off the apartment. He swung his way towards Harry.
Gwen followed him with her eyes. "What's going on with you, Peter?"
Harry had been pacing around the living room for the last couple of minutes. He eventually sat down on the couch and waited for Peter Parker. He had the warning to give, and he had to do it in person. Peter needed to know that he was being sincere.
"Harry!"
Harry looked over his shoulder and found Spider-Man between the open doors that led to the balcony. He wore the symbiote over his skin. "I know what you are thinking…" He moved off the couch and faced Peter. "If there's anything I regret the most… is that night. "
Spider-Man whispered, "... shut up."
"I'm trying to… fix this, somehow. I mean it." He took another couple of steps towards Peter.
"We don't believe you."
Harry tilted his head slightly to the side. He was confused at the pronoun Peter used for himself. He wondered who else he could be talking about. "I'm tired of… all of this, Peter. All of this bullshit. I'm becoming what I despised the most. I don't want to be my father, I realize this now."
He wants to kill Gwen… The voice again spoke in Peter's head.
"No, not now." Peter closed his fist and slowly walked towards him.
"The suit, it's not what you think it is." He was now much closer to Peter than he ever did in the last years.
He wants us away from each other...
"No… !" Spider-Man shot a biocable at Harry's chest and pulled him closer to his position. He then punched Harry in the face and sent him flying against the coffee table found on the left side of the large living room they were in.
I knew this would be hard...
Harry gasped in pain and eventually wiped the trace of blood coming from his lips. He realized Peter had gotten much stronger.
Spider-Man jumped from his position and tried to land his fist over Harry. The latter spun against the ground and avoided his attack while the fist of his former friend was buried on the ground.
Harry got back on his feet. "Look, you need to listen to me."
"You tried to kill Gwen!" Spider-Man got his hand off the floor and took a large shattered plank in his hand, before throwing the piece of wood at Harry. The plank shattered in half when it smashed against Harry's arms. He looked up and found Spider-Man running towards him.
Harry took a hit in his cheek and had him bounce to the side, ripping a small part of the skin in his cheek open. Harry cleared his throat and evaded the kick that was about to reach his left ear but missed the punch in his stomach.
Spider-Man grabbed Harry by the collar of his shirt and pinned him against the wall, smashing the concrete behind him. Spider-Man smashed his head against Harry's nose and later threw him back to the ground just to land another punch across his face.
Harry gasped blood. He watched Spider-Man stand on top of him while he was punched over and over again. Spider-Man's fists were now covered in blood. "... I-I'm… sorry."
He isn't!
"Not enough!" Spider-Man landed another punch. He pulled Harry towards him by the collar of his shirt and then positioned himself behind the Osborn. He wrapped his arms around his neck, ready to snap it.
Kill him!
Spider-Man tightened the grip, cutting the air off Harry's lungs. That was it. "No..!" He let go of Harry and immediately jumped to the ceiling. He had to stay away. Harry fell on his knees and gathered his breath once again.
Spider-Man brought his hands close to the lenses of his mask and later punched the ceiling, trying to regain control of himself. Harry finally raised his chin and stared at his past friend.
"... Fiers and that whole team… they aren't going to stop until they see you dead beside their feet."
"What are you… talking about?"
"I… I don't even know the whole picture. Fiers… he's dangerous. My father had you, your aunt, and your uncle under surveillance for years. They both somehow planned this for years."
"You're lying!"
"Fiers is going to kill you! That suit is making you weaker, then they will strike. If that's not another lie by Fiers."
"And you're telling me this… why?!"
Harry felt a dislocated rib that started to cause him some extra pain. "... you know why." He continued, "I wanted to… kill you, Peter. I did. There was nothing left in me, just pure… hatred. I've been used by Fiers. My knowledge of Oscorp, he now knows everything. He wants something. I'm trying to… fix things."
"There's nothing you can fix, Harry."
Harry cleared his throat. "... yes, I know."
"Where do I find them?"
"They usually meet at Oscorp. Outside, they are off the grid. Regardless, you won't be able to find them, and it's five against one."
"I don't plan to do that… they are the ones coming after me." Spider-Man crawled his way towards the entrance to the balcony and left the building.
Harry touched his forehead against the ground. "I'm sorry… for everything."
Gwen was curled on the bed with the sheets over her body. She rested her head on Peter's pillow, feeling his natural scent. She had been waiting for him to arrive home and hopefully, to be free of any kind of injuries or bruises. He had completely changed after Harry called.
Please be alright... Gwen brought the pillow closer to her chest.
The sound of the window in the bedroom being open had Gwen slowly sit on the bed. She switched on the lamp beside the bed as Peter appeared at the window's edge. He was maskless. He was staring at the ground as if in deep thought.
"Peter?" He didn't say anything. "Hey…"
Gwen finally got off the bed and approached him. She stood beside him and moved his head closer against her chest, comforting him. He closed his eyes as he fell to her embrace while hugging her back.
He broke the silence, "I'm so… sorry. Please forgive me."
She placed her thumb on his chin and made him look up to her. "We can talk later, okay?"
"I-I… almost killed him."
"Tomorrow, Peter. Please." She planted a kiss on top of his head. "It's okay now."
Some things required a change. Gwen wondered if his suit was part of that.
A/N: While the Harry/Peter friendship wasn't explored properly in the movies, I enjoyed most of it. I'll get deeper on that because I see two kids who share a similar life story and it's much more complicated than what the movie tried to tell.
