I didn't get much love on the last chapter, so please R&R. I know there are better writers out there but I don't think my stories are too bad. Love to all and thanks! Love - Carebearmaxi.

Point Me In The Direction of Albuquerque

Chapter 7 – Mouse is Trapped!

11:00 AM

Albuquerque

Donna sat on the exam table waiting for Dr. Belsarius to examine her. She was not alone, however, Holmgren was there with her. As he was her 'husband' he insisted that he accompany his wife as she wanted him to be there. The older, dark haired, nurse whose name was Stella signaled to Donna that she had seen Mr. Holmgren's "wives" before. She attempted to speak with Donna alone, but Elliott came between them every time either by stepping between them or just standing behind Donna with his hand on her shoulder able to lend an ear should he really desire it.

Dr. Belsarius was an older man with dark wavy hair and kind eyes. He was shorter than the tall debonair Elliott Holmgren, so at once Donna felt a little better. If you have to suffer an internal examination with one total stranger in the room and a rough careless doctor to boot, it would have been stressful and hurt much more than sometimes these exams can.

Dr. Stavros Belsarius breezed in the room and washed his hands and told Donna to lie back on the table.

"Now just relax Mrs. Holmgren," Belsarius said respectfully. "I know this isn't your first exam, but I am a stranger to you. I'm not going to hurt you in any way."

"Yeah, everybody keeps telling me that, but I don't believe them," Donna retorted cheekily.

"Now, darling, what do you think the doctor will think when you say something like that. You stab me with that remark. I would never let anything happen to you. Don't you know you're precious in my eyes?" Elliott oozed.

Donna rolled her eyes. "Ok, Elliott, since you like being 'honest' how about we just stop all this double talk and state why I'm really here. I know Dr. Belsarius here must know because Robin said he knew all about your baby market!" Donna raised her voice on that last word hoping that someone would hear and inquire as to what was happening.

"Whatever could you mean, my dear?" Elliott hedged. "Dr. Belsarius delivered Robin's children and many of the women on the reservation. He's been a doctor for a very long time. That's all Robin meant."

Donna refused to open her legs when the doctor brought the speculum between them.

"Spread your knees. This might be a little uncomfortable, but you'll be fine," Dr. Belsarius stated eyeing Mr. Holmgren.

Elliott came over and tried to soothe Donna by placing his hand on her forehead smoothing her hair back. Donna flinched and moved away….

Stella called Doug King of the FBI.

"Mr. King, can I speak to your wife?"

"My wife can't come to the phone right now. May I give her a message?"

"Tell her the doctor had a cancellation and can see her immediately."

"I will tell my wife. Did she mention she was in any pain or danger of losing the baby?"

"No, she just was a bit uncomfortable and wanted to confirm all was well."

"We'll be there in ten minutes. Do not let the doctor take any more patients."

"Of course not, Mr. King, we are waiting for your wife."

Doug, Harvey, and Banter hurriedly boarded Doug's car. It was the usual four door brown sedan used in covert operations. The kind of car that no one would suspect was on the way to bust a major Black Market baby dealer and reproductive abuser among other illicit operations.

Doug started the car

"Get in! Time's wasting," King said.

Harvey and Banter both reached for the front passenger door. Harvey gave Banter a look and said, "No, I'm riding shotgun. Get in the back, counselor."

Joshua only stared a moment at Harvey and was not quite affronted by that statement but looked at him just the same. Then he quietly jumped in the smallish backseat.

"Here's the deal," Doug said loudly to Harvey and Joshua. "Stella is my plant in the gyno's office. She's been there for three years taking notes and giving us evidence of Holmgren's various nefarious operations. This is his M.O. He confirms that the women are healthy and are able to have children. The last two times did not go well at all."

Harvey swiped his head at that remark and arched. "What the hell does that mean?"

The women were said to be able to bear children but when it came time their implants did not take, and Holmgren set them free but not without harming them to be sure they did not remember too much."

Harvey decided not to ask for details. He just said, "Move faster you son of a bitch!"

Meanwhile back in the office of Dr. Belsarius

Donna had had her exam. She decided that since she knew they were not going to damage her in anyway because of their purpose she would allow the doctor to examine her. His touch was gentle, and he was kind to her. It did not seem like it was out of fear to her, so she assumed this doctor must be high on Holmgren's payroll. Donna did not want to but liked the doctor because survival and being alert put her on edge which also gives credence to the saying "any port in a storm". However, knowing what these two had practiced on other women made Donna's blood boil making it difficult to find something redeemable in either one.

Now they all sat in Dr. Belsarius' office forming a plan for when Donna ovulated which led to talk of the insemination process culminating in a desired pregnancy.

Donna thought: They have got to be kidding. I know I won't be here too much longer. I know Harvey would know what to do to get me out of here. He is my best friend. Hopefully he still feels something for me. No Harvey would take care of it. He always does. I am so glad that I talked to Doug. I know he wasn't able to help too much, but it was good to talk to someone..

Suddenly a rush of air spread over the office when the shut door crashed open alarming all three inhabitants.

Donna swiftly rose to her feet and pivoted to see Doug King, mild mannered and not hunky, holding a Glock 17 9mm handgunwhich Donna knew had a fair amount of kick having fired one at a gun range when she went with Louis not too long ago. One way of working out her frustrations with the whole Hardman and being let go incident.

"Elliott Holmgren you're under arrest for human trafficking, baby black market trading, and whole bunch of other crimes," Doug said as he and two other agents came into the room and made not only Holmgren stand and be handcuff but also Dr. Belsarius who was considered an accomplice because had condoned the crimes and profited by it.

Donna stood there in shock as Doug and another tall blonde man entered into the room witnessing the agents giving two of their assailants their Miranda rights. Donna stood so mesmerized surrounded by such surrealism she did not hear the familiar footfall behind her. At the soft whisper of his voice beneath her ear, Donna pivoted again, and her face lit up with joy.

"Harvey!" Donna exclaimed and jumped unexpectedly into his arms.

Time suddenly stood still. It was just the two of them. Donna clung to Harvey loving the physical presence of someone-she loved-and if she was not mistaken he was clinging to her just as tightly. She felt his head close to hers and felt the warmth of his arms holding her tight. He sighed heavily in her ear.

The commotion and noise in the room cascaded over and around them leaving them a calm oasis in the middle of a desert sandstorm.

Donna pulled back a little to look up at Harvey. His expression was sublime with tears welled in his big beautiful brown eyes and his shy welcoming smile. Her faith in Harvey had never been shaken yet. She knew he would find a way to get to her, but she had not expected him to come himself. She was so glad he did. By the smile on Harvey's face and the tears that he willed not to fall, Donna could tell he was glad she was safe now as well.

They softly looked at one another and smiled. Harvey surprised her and pulled her to him again. He buried his head in Donna's neck and a few grateful tears escaped his eyes, against his will, and trickled down Donna's neck causing her to clutch him tighter. He could never deny her anything. He was better for her being in his life and after all he had put her through to save his own ass he knew Donna did not deserve this to happen to her. Yes, he loved her, but he could never tell her how or how much because then he knew he would truly lose her.

The commotion faded as local cops and other agents walked in and out of the offices gathering evidence. Doug had patted Stella on the back and accepted her latest bunch of evidence kept on a CD which was pulled from her computer. After dismissing Stella and telling the other law enforcement there was nothing left, Doug returned to his charges to appraise them of their position in the current situation..

As they watched Doug approach them Donna and Harvey swiftly pulled apart embarrassed at themselves for having fallen into that emotional trap of needing to feel the physical presence of another human being when just escaped from a harrowing life experience. Ever since that one time when they had spent a beautiful night together between the sheets their routine had been bereft of touching even the casual bumping into one another or brush of fingers was practically non-existent so full on embraces were something extraordinary. They both looked a tad embarrassed since their relationship status that of platonic friends and co-workers.

"Donna," Doug said. "I would like to apologize for keeping a secret from you about who I really am."

Harvey interjected and said, "Yes, he introduced himself on the phone to me as an FBI agent. Then I met him, and I have to say he was not what I expected but damn he was worth it!"

Donna hugged Doug. "Thank you. I accept your apology by the way for not telling me about what and who you really are."

"I apologize for using you as bait. Jack, who was actually my ear to Holmgren, had spotted you as you came into the casino. He then told me he had just hit the jackpot. You were exactly the type that Holmgren specified for his next child carrier."

After a moment all three smiled at one another and rocked on the balls of their feet laughing at the coincidence.

"By the way, Jack gave me all your personal affects that were taken from you. I have them back in your room at the hotel. No one has been in there by the way. I made sure of it. Hotel management knew their establishment was the basis for an FBI cous.

Donna looked at him and said, "Thank you Doug and Harvey for rescuing me in my needful hour but what about my "marriage" to Elliott Holmgren? I don't remember it because I was drugged. Am I still legally bound?"

She turned her head first to Doug who smiled and then to Harvey who also smiled. "Shall we tell her?" Harvey asked.

"What is it?" Donna wondered and then she knew. "I was never really married in the first place was I?"

"Nope. Not legally in the State of Nevada anyway," Harvey said. "Before I reported out here earlier in the morning, I had called Louis…"

"Louis!"

"It's all good, Donna," placated Harvey. "He had a friend who had moved from New York and had set up his law practice here. It turns out that he was the only lawful liaison that Holmgren had. Let's put it his way. With Jack's help, the marriage certificate the chapel produced was found to be illegal. So, you were never married to that criminal."

Donna exhaled heavily feeling such relief that there would be no binding legal issues haunting and following her back home to New York.

Harvey had not realized that his eyes had never left her face even when he was done telling her about her new freed circumstances. When Donna turned her head to look at both Doug and the other tall blonde man who had returned to the room, Harvey moved his eyes away and swallowed hard licking his lips to wipe away any remnants of moisture which may have escaped from his eyes.

The other tall blonde man came over to the little group and took Donna's hand in his.

"I'm Joshua Banter, Louis' friend," Joshua introduced himself. "When Louis called me and told me who was holding you captive, I only had to do some short research to realize that this man had been my client and that some of his transactions seemed legal but weren't. I then knew Doug from another case we had been working and told him everything. Talk about your coincidences!'

"Thank God for it," Donna said. "Thank you so much for your part, Joshua."

"Better thank Louis, too. He really thinks the world of you. He challenged me to a duel if I refused to help," Joshua laughed.

Turning to Harvey, Joshua said, "This guy. You have a good one in him. Don't throw him away."

Harvey and Donna shared some embarrassment and started talking together simultaneously.

"No…we're not.." Harvey said moving his hand in a quick back and forth manner between he and Donna.

"Oh, you think….we're not" Donna said with the same arm motion waving between them.

"TOGETHER", Donna and Harvey said in unison.

Joshua winked and released, "Sure. If you're not now, you will be in the future. I can tell."

Donna and Harvey resumed looking at each other and then smiled.

"So, why did you come all the way out here?" Donna wondered aloud to Harvey the bright early afternoon streaming down warming them.

Harvey did not answer immediately and took a moment to gaze at the deep blue sky above. He shrugged his shoulders with his hands in pockets as they continued to walk to Doug's car. Doug would take them back to the hotel, so Donna could pack and ready herself for home.

They arrived at the car and Harvey waited for Donna to scoot into the backseat. He then got in himself. They were alone for a few minutes as it seemed Banter and King had a few legal items to work out. Harvey looked out the window and away from Donna. I can't tell her how worried I was about her or how much I… All I know is that I don't think I would last long if I knew she was never coming back.

"Harvey?"

Harvey turned back around when Donna softly called his name.

Donna looked at him and smiled. "That's ok. I know why you came all the way out here."

"Ok, I'll bite. Why do you think I came all the way out here?" Harvey's voice took on its playful tone and his eyes took on that mischievous gleam.

"You simply can't live without me. When I called you at midnight I hadn't expected you to come way out west to get me. I just thought you would pull a few strings and a compatriot of yours would tell me when it was safe to come home."

"Well, for once in your life, you thought wrong. I thought I would just do this myself. Besides Doug called me and asked me to hop on a plane this morning. Jessica asked where I was going, and I told her I had to get to Boston because Marcus had an emergency."

"You lied to Jessica for me?

"Jessica doesn't need to know my every move," Harvey said affronted.

Donna just sat back in her seat and smiled.

It was quiet for a bit then as then Banter and Doug got into the front seats and the car started to travel. Harvey turned to Donna and asked, "So how did you like your ride in a hot air balloon?"

Many, many years later…

Albuquerque, NM 8:00 AM

There would be only four passengers, a host, and a pilot in the large red white, and blue hot air balloon. The young female host was also the owner of the balloon production and amusement company. Normally, she could hold upwards of 15 people in the larger balloons, but this was a special occasion and the basket's capacity would only hold about half that amount. She smiled at the also young male pilot while he checked all the heating and directional tools he used to successfully direct the hot air vehicle where it was to go. She gave him a kiss as they had just been married a year ago and still loved working together daily.

"Bryan, hurry, they just arrived!"

"Marily, remember it's a good long walk from the parking lot to the balloon."

"I know, but I haven't seen Donna in such a long time, and she's bringing her family with her. I want to make sure she has a good experience this time."

"Because of all that rottenness you told me about when you met her growing up on the reservation?"

"Yes," Marily replied solemnly.

Marily became animated again as she watched The Specters approach.

"Donna!" Marily squealed as she deboarded the balloon and ran into Donna's arms squeezing her tightly. As Donna was expecting her third child Marily was careful of not hurting the little bump.

"Marily!" Donna exclaimed hugging her. They had remained in contact over the years, so each new the events in each other's lives except for the surprise that Donna now carried.

"How far along?" Marily asked. "No, let me guess. I got good at this on the reservation."

"I know when you were a child yourself," Donna responded. Meanwhile in the background Harvey had introduced himself to Marily's husband who had alighted from the balloon and hurriedly introduced himself to his wife's friend's husband and twin three-year-old daughters.

"You're about five months, right?" Marily guessed seeing and hearing the introductions happening around her.

"Yes, that's right."

"Boy or girl?"

"We wanted to be surprised this time. Harvey couldn't wait the last time, so the doctor told us. However, this time we swore her to secrecy. We can't read an ultrasound either, so it was even better," laughed Donna.

"What about you? Still enjoying being a newlywed?" Donna asked as she put an arm around Marily who in the ensuing years had grown another couple of inches. She was not as tall as Donna but about average height fitting perfectly underneath Donna's arm. Donna turned her head and signaled to Harvey that they should start walking toward the balloon. Harvey smiled back and grasped one daughter's hand in each of his as they began.

"I'm so excited to be the one to give you this ride. Now, I don't know what you have planned on this vacation, Donna, but we have our home in Nevada. My mom lives in an adjoining home. We will be having our weekly family dinner. Bryan's parents live right outside our little town, so they will be joining us, too. You'll like his parents. They are a hoot!"

"It's a good thing I'm prepared for any eventuality then. With twin girls one never knows," Donna said.

Harvey boarded and came over to where his wife and her friend were chattering. He brought both girls with him.

Donna had taken a chair on the gondola as Marily stood up and shook Harvey's hand.

"Marily, my husband, Harvey Specter," Donna introduced.

"Please to meet you, Marily. Donna has not stopped talking about this trip since you sent us the invitation. These two little red-haired munchkins are our daughters, Mimi and Lily."

"Nice to meet you two as well. How does your mommy and daddy tell you apart?" Marily asked in despair. "I don't think I could tell you're both so adorable."

Donna responded as she and Harvey witnessed how shy their daughters could be around strangers. Normally not reticent at all the both of them would barrel over any of their parents' friends or their parents' friends' children like James Ross or Lucy Litt.

"Don't let these two fool you, Marily," Harvey said bending a little to proudly gaze at each of his daughters. "These two are very noisy on a normal day. Aren't you girls?"

"Daddy!" Lily argued putting her hands on her hips and giving her father the evil eye.

"Well, it's the truth my darling," Harvey said tweaking her nose and then pulling her close to his side.

Donna laughed. "It took us a bit, but we know they are different people. When in doubt, though, we try to make sure they don't wear the same color or clothing. When we're really tired and can't tell their voices apart, Mimi has a birthmark on her shoulder. Lily doesn't."

Marily thought that was amusing. She looked at both girls and decided that she would start to learn their names. She crouched down to be on eye level with the first little red haired daughter holding Harvey's left hand.

"You are?"

"Mimi."

"Please to meet you Mimi," Marily said giving her a little hug. "So that means you are…"

"Lily!"

"Please to meet you, too, Lily," Marily said and Lily gave her a hug without provocation. This behavior was indicative of Lily which her parents had realized almost from birth. Lily was always easily affectionate and very trusting. Her younger sister by seven minutes, Mimi was a tad more reserve giving everyone the eye before deciding if they were friend or foe.

Bryan soon walked over and stated that everyone needed to take a seat and belt in while he gave full heat to the balloon which would lift them off the ground and on their short journey to Nevada.

Marily excused herself then leaving Harvey, Donna, and their two little mites alone to enjoy the view of lift off.

Harvey held Mimi on his lap while Lily decided to sit in the seat next to Donna. It was becoming harder and harder for Donna to take one or both of the girls on her lap as not only did they grow bigger but Donna's baby bump was getting bigger each day as well.

Harvey placed a hand over Donna's bump and asked, "Can he feel what's going on?"

Donna looked down and placed her hand over Harvey's. "Once in a while I can feel him moving. He's small yet but it's about time from what I knew from the first time. By the way, you keep insisting that this one is a boy."

"Last time I insisted the twins were girls before we found out, so I was right about these two and I know I have to be right this time," Harvey said smugly.

"Do you know something I don't because that would really be strange given our history," Donna said. "I'm not sure I could live with that." Donna stroked her chin thoughtfully.

Harvey chuckled at his wife's remark owning the truth of it.

Silence came between them for a few minutes as Marily had said it was safe for them to walk over to the wall of the gondola and look over or out if they wanted.

"Mimi, Lily, come see," Donna coaxed as she unbuckled Lily from her seat and Mimi was hesitant to go anywhere.

When they got to the wall of the gondola, Donna picked up Lily and pointed to the large birds flying in the air and softly talked to her about the mountains.

Marily came over to both Donna and Harvey, they both turned as she told Donna, "You shouldn't be holding Lily and standing up, Donna, in your condition. I can hold Lily and let her look over."

"Lily?" Donna questioned her daughter.

Lily silently nodded her acquiescence and transported herself into Marily's waiting arms.

It was not long before Mimi became jealous and decided she wanted down. Harvey placed her on her feet but hung onto her hand until Marily put down Lily and retrieved her sister to give her a turn. Marily walked the twins over to where her husband was flying the balloon. They stood far enough back not to be burned by the heater which drove the balloon in the sky over the terrain.

Harvey sat down on the seat next to his wife. His dark sunglasses reflected the sun's ball of fire and the wispy clouds overhead. His gaze fell on his beautiful pregnant wife. He took her hands in his, once again.

"Did you ever think that you would come back here ten years later with your children and husband or should I say me?"

Donna bit her lip and with her own lens-covered eyes simply stated. "Yes, I did."

She kissed him then as their two rambunctious three-year-olds reclaimed their parents.
