Chapter 40: freedom at last
Atteritta's POV
When I woke up I was in a bright room, Much brighter than the room in Alleia's house. The curtains were moving because of an open window.
But the windows must always stayed closed
I thought as I got up and walked to the window, careful to not be seen. Only when I stood near the open window and looked outside I realized I wasn't in Songpan anymore. Someone had moved me to another place.
They did it! They actually managed to get me out of there!
I thought with a smile as I started to walk around to look for my dress but it was nowhere to be found. On a chair laid a brand new dress, red with golden stripes in the middle and around the waist that looked amazing.
I have to thank the person who got me this dress
I thought with a smile on my face as I got out of the nightgown I wore and put on the new dress, after which I almost ran out of my room, feeling the amazing sensation of freedom because no one held me back. No one pushed me back in my room. It was all over.
"Good morning." I waved at a guard passing by, who looked at me, surprised.
"Good morning." He said a little taken aback by my cheer.
I snatched an apple from a nearby basket and took a bite from it as I let myself slide down the rail to a beautiful ballroom.
What a beautiful place
I thought with a smile as I looked around. The floor was freshly polished and there were tables standing at either side of the room.
Aleia used to tell my they hold parties a lot at rich people places
I thought as I closed my eyes and started to hum a tune in my head as I started to dance around in the same motion Aleia had once taught me when we were kids.
Who knows now that it's all over it's possible for me to dream of a happily ever after just like in those fairy tales
I thought until I suddenly heard clapping behind me.
"You're pretty good for someone who has been isolated for so long." A voice called as which made me look up shocked at a woman with a brownish skin and short brown hair wearing water tribe clothing.
"I had some time to practice when I was living in the house of my only friend…. When I was a child." I replied a little shyly at the sight of a new face.
"She taught you well." The brunette smiled
"Thanks. I'm Atteritta." I smiled.
"My name is Korra. I'm the Avatar." The girl smiled as I looked at her with widened eyes.
"Oh." I said, feeling a little nervous. With what my great grandfather did to the past Avatar, was she here for revenge?
"Don't be afraid. I'm not going to hurt you." Korra smiled as she took a step towards me. "We met before, remember? In Songpan?"
"How can I know?" I asked, scared.
"I'm not mad at you for what someone else did." Korra replied calmly before smiling. "Besides, we all know why he did it." Her eyes moved to the tattoo on my forehead. I quickly covered it.
"But he almost murdered your past life." I stammered, taken aback by her kindness.
"He did it because he wanted respect, something that wasn't a common thing for Combustion Benders to get at that time." Korra smiled as she sat down on the stairs, motioning for me to do the same. I did so a little hesitant. "He is your grandfather right?"
"Yes." I replied nervously, not getting why she asked this.
"Did you know him?" Korra asked a little insecure. Why did she want to know that?
"Not really. He left Songpan long before I was born. All I know is from stories my parents and grandmother used to tell me." I replied with a sad look.
"Why did he leave? " Korra asked.
"My grandmother said it was because of the accident that made him lose his arm and leg." I replied after having thought about that for a moment. "He stopped speaking after that as well. Grandma used to tell us he left because of shame but dad told us he always felt like grandpa didn't want to be a burden to us."
"It must be hard to lose two limbs in one blow." Korra replied.
"I think he just wanted to become a bounty hunter to stay useful to his family." I replied as I put my head on my knees and wrapped my arms around them. "That mission Zuko gave him got him killed. I would have loved to meet him."
'He would be very proud of you holding it out for so long." Korra smiled, looking up as Ming Hua walked towards us, wearing a simple blue dress.
"The others are out of danger and waking up." She said before walking up to us.
"What does she mean?" I asked with a shocked look.
"Femke and Zaheer have gotten quite the beating we almost taught they didn't make it. Sounds like they're going to be fine. " Korra answered with a look of relief.
"Can I go see them? I want to thank them for getting me out." I asked with a small smile.
"I don't know if visitors are allowed but we could go and see if they're awake." Korra smiled before she took my hand and guided me to the room they were resting. "Many people helped."
"Oh, right." I realized before smiling at her a little. "Thank you as well, Avatar korra."
"It was glad I did. No one should suffer the way you suffered." Korra smiled as she knocked on the door of the Red Lotus room, soon followed by a 'come in' after which we entered the room.
Normal POV
Femke and Zaheer had woken up with a lot of doctors standing around them as well as the remainder of their team, all of them looking pretty banged up and looking down at them quite relieved.
"I'm fine. I just used up all my energy." Femke replied to all the worry around her as two doctors started to do tests to make sure she was okay.
"What happened? I remember passing out. How did we get here?" Zaheer asked.
"Mister Chang, Lord zuko and the Avatar got us out after Femke used some strange scream to beat the mayor." Master Xai Bau smiled as Atteritta and Korra entered the room as well. Atteritta was beaming and looking a lot healthier.
"How are you feeling?" Korra asked to break the tense silence that hung in the room.
"Better. I think I might have crushed a rib or two but hey, it happens." Femke shrugged casually.
"You're not in pain?" Atteritta asked with a shocked look.
"A little. If you take as many hits as I do during missions you get used to it." Femke shrugged.
"How did you manage to destroy that mayor monster?" King Wu asked.
"On your own as well." Bolin added with a smirk on his face.
"Who said I did it alone?" Femke asked with a surprised look, not wanting to brag.
"We saw you use some odd power on the Mayor, making him explode. What was that?" Mako asked. "We saw you use it before against the lieutenant."
"It's called the Ghost Wail. It's an extremely powerful move but I can only use it when I need it." Femke told now as she looked at the wall sadly. "it only reacts when I run out of all other options."
"Ghosts? Of who?" Bolin asked.
"People that belonged with the Voorfieldians long ago." Femke explained, remembering Daniel had been a ghost and he had been from Voorfield as well. He had told her there had been many more who like him had stayed in the Ghost Zone and stick around in hopes of seeing the prophecy being fulfilled. Darkar beaten and Voorfield restored together with the peace and balance in the world.
"Amazing." King Wu said.
"Not for the people of the cities portals to their realm exist in. The non-Voorfieldian ghosts tend to attack people." Femke said, remembering Danny Fenton alias Danny Phantom had his hands full fighting ghosts along with his friends, Sam and Tucker.
"What should we do now?" zaheer asked, grunting softly as he sat up.
"You two are under Doctor's orders to rest." Lord Zuko replied as he walked in.
"We can still have some fun, right?" Femke asked. "I don't want to stay in bed the entire time."
"That's quite a different tune from when I was sick." Zaheer said with a teasing smirk.
"Sick is different from injured, dear" Femke smiled back teasingly as well.
"If you really want to go somewhere, do you remember the Ember Island Players?" Zuko asked Femke with a smirk on his face. "They give a show tonight."
"NO!Anythingbut that!"Femke replied with widened eyes as Zuko held up the poster. "Oncewas enough."
"Come on, Femke. I have been to a play once with my dad and they weren't thatbad." Zaheer smirked as he looked at his girlfriend, who was currently looking horrified at the idea of going back to Ember Island. "Even if it is, it's worth it for the comedy alone."
"You could always throw fire at them." Ghazan added.
"I would love to go see it. I have never been to a play before." Atteritta chimed in.
"Then you can go without me." Femke said with a dramatic voice.
"Drama queen." Korra huffed.
"If you remember, last time you were there you would act up about going there again as well." Femke replied with her head between her knees.
"Was it really that bad?" King Wu asked.
"It was. Aang was portrayed like a naïve child, Toph was a big buffoon, Sokka was acting like a moron and they had Zuko's scar wrong. How they messed up that one is beyond me!" Femke groaned. "It was just frustrating to watch"
"Sokka at least gave his actor some advice. That improved things." Toph remarked.
"True." Femke answered with a shrug.
"Come on!We're all going to have a fun night out." Toph smiled as she took Femke by hand and helped her on her feet. "I even managed to get Katara to come over and suffer with us."
"At least that's something to look forward too." Femke smiled as she helped Zaheer stand up before they got ready to go see the Ember Island players.
Femke's POV
That night I was standing before the all too familiar theater with a bored look in my eyes. The others were standing next to me, all dressed up for a night out.
Why did I let them talk me into this again?
I thought as I looked at my watch. It was five minutes before time all that was missing was Katara, who was running late.
She would probably rather be anywhere but here
I thought, smiling at Bataar Jr. standing by the door and looking at everyone with a smile on his face. Opal smiled back at him every now and then but for the rest, his siblings still ignored him.
Seems Opal listened to me and talked it out
I thought as I walked to the balcony to look out over the island.
What a view! It's still as amazing as I remember
I thought with a smile.
"Grandma, Katara arrived. You coming?" I looked up and saw Lin was standing in the entrance and she had just called me Grandma. Something that had never happened before.
"You called me Grandma." I stammered with a look of disbelief on my face.
"That's what you are, right?" Lin asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You never called me that before." I stammered.
"Yeah well… " Lin started with an uneasy look before she came next to me and looked at the view as well. "You never gave me reason to believe it."
"I know." I admitted as I looked down with guilt. "I messed up big time."
"You sure did but… " Lin smiled a little as she placed a hand on mine.
"What you did; jumping in to save me… " Lin said, closing her eyes. "That proved to me you're family. Family will stand up for each other no matter what."
"On Laghima's peak I did the same. Even if you didn't see it." I said as i looked down sadly.
"You didn't." Lin huffed as she looked away.
"I did. If i had just wanted to save P'li I would have bended the metal off her head. Then there had been no need for me to get hurt." I told her.
"But you didn"t." She answered, looking away.
"I leapt in and bended the metal off while she faced my shoulder, as her blast hit me." I said as I looked at the stars, smiling. "I got hurt but my best friend and my granddaughter survived."
"I know I was a fool back then but I never abandon my family."
With this I walked inside and sat down next to Zaheer, who was just laughing at Korra's actor; a man who was facing off against a weird looking man that looked a little like Noatak.
"Eat air, you punk!" The man called as he flashed white ribbons at noatak signaling airbending.
"No! Not my brother! Please, Avatar."A girl wearing her hair in Feria's old hairstyle and yellow clothes called with a desperate voice as she held to the Tarrlok actor, who was looking the most accurate off them.
"You have betrayed your Avatar! Your friends!" 'Korra' called before she flashed the ribbon at 'Noatak', causing him to fall out of the window. Soon after which he appeared again on a swirl of water.
"You will never beat me, Avatar! I will be back and when I do you will be..." He started, but stopped as Tarrlok grabbed on to him and made a fake explosive tied to his waist go off.
"Is that what happened?" Ghazan asked softly.
"I actually tried to tell noatak this wasn't the way and Korra got angry at me for that." I whispered back as the play continued. "Also, the explosion was on a boat."
"I wonder how they portray us." Ghazan whispered as the Unalaq arc came to its ending with 'Korra' fighting Unavaatu and me, Noatak and Tarrlok being separated again with a lot of back and forth screaming that I didn't remember.
"I have to remember to scream more to get my point across." Korra whispered in my ear with a teasing smirk.
"Let's hope it never has to go that way." I whispered back as the lights dimmed and Zaheer appeared on stage, looking really melodramatic.
"Let go of your Earthly tethers. Enter the void. Empty and become wind."
"They got one thing right." I whispered as the remainder of the team appeared behind him, also chanting the poem. "Never mind."
"We look like a bunch of weirdos." Ming Hua whispered, sounding rather offended.
"My hair doesn't even look close to that." P'li remarked as they showed the battle of Zhaofu only with me actually switching sides and betraying Team Avatar instead of Zaheer lying to me after I tried to save Korra.
"If someone was there to see it they'd get that right." I mumbled with an offended look as my character willingly went with the Red Lotus while making a few flirty remarks to Zaheer.
"And I definitely didn't flirt with Zaheer back then."
"You wouldn't have dared." P'li whispered in my ear, which made me look up at her and smirk.
"You're surprised?" Zuko whispered to me, while Atteritta next to him was laughing cheerfully at the play.
"At least Atteritta is enjoying herself." I smiled at Atteritta who was laughing at the play. But it turned serious when the throne room appeared, which made me gulp and look at Wu nervously. Hoping this wouldn't be too traumatizing.
"Your tirranny is at an end, Your Highness." The zaheer player called as he stood on the throne with his arms spread.
"Zaheer, you can't do this. She is the Queen." The Femke player called as she ran towards Zaheer with her hand stretched out.
"I don't believe in Queens." Zaheer smirked. "I have been lying to you all along. And soon both the Avatar and all monarchs of the world will fall."
"Not at all what you said back then." I whispered to Zaheer.
"What did you tell her?" Wu asked.
"You think freedom is something you can give or take on a whim but to your people freedom is just as essential as air and without it, there is no light. There is only darkness." I recalled with a stern face, while Zaheer looked at me with a smirk on his.
"You were actually paying attention to what I said that?" Zaheer asked with a grin.
"I did. It was kind of haunting." I admitted with a sheepish smile.
"She might have listened to you… You didn't have to kill her." Wu said as he looked up sadly.
"We'll never know. But looking back I should have tried to make her listen." Zaheer admitted while looking down. Back on stage the scene at Laghima's Peak started to play off a lot like how it had in real life.
"We're going to take them down, P'li! And then I'll be a true Red Lotus!"The Femke on stage called, fighting against Lin and Su standing back to back with P'li, which made me gasp.
"Femke! Please turn back! We're your family! Don't do this!"Su called from behind a stone while desperately reaching for her. This was close enough to the truth to make tears appear in my eyes.
"You should have been there for me! I made my choice."Femke called after which she shot towards Su, making her stumble backwards out in the open, after which P'li flashed a ribbon at her and Su disappeared in a red glow.
"I would have been a death woman walking had I done that." P'li commented with a smirk as she looked at me, making me nod.
"No one touches my family but me." I smirked as the Laghima's Peak scene played on after which a scene in the hospital played that wasn't very correct either. Korra hadn't been there. How did they even get that idea?
"Before we go our separate ways, there is something you need to know." The Femke on stage said, her arm in a sling like mine had been, with a sad look on her face while Zaheer and her stood on the dock together.
"What is it?" Zaheer on stage asked as he stepped closer to Femke on stage, his eyes filled with something I didn't recognize from that moment: passion.
"I have loved you from the day we met and I always will." This Femke admitted, making me look at her with horror. That's not at all how it went nor would I have told him that. Not even if it had been what I had felt at that moment. I was married to Grovyle at that point.
"I have the same feeling, but I didn't dare to speak up because I was with P'li." The Zaheer on stage smiled as he bended closer to me. "But now she is dead I can say what my hear told me all this time."
With that Zaheer pressed his lips against mine. Instead of holding back, I gasped when I saw the Femke actress embrace the Zaheer actress and hold him in a loving embrace as they kept up the kiss for a long time.
"This is not even close to what happened." I whispered to my best friend, who was looking at the stage with anger.
"Yeah! That kiss lasted for like 5 seconds." Bolin and Zuko nodded.
"These plays always distort reality to make things more entertaining." Lord Zuko brought in.
"That's cheap if you ask me." Allerys commented.
"Tell me about it. This is so not what I paid for." Ilene whispered as Selvia nodded firmly.
"Compared to this even Floxy's jokes are funny." Rex commented, looking at the Ember Island's version of Kuvira's rise to power.
"I'm flying right here." Floxy whispered back firmly.
"It's true." Lenny shrugged as Yucca hesitantly nodded.
"I'm done here." This one came from Bataar Jr., who had been sitting in the back silently but got up and walked out.
"What's with him?" Ghazan asked as he bent towards Opal and me as we both shrugged.
"I think this is still a sore spot." I looked at the stage with a frown as just then Kuvira's actress told Bataar's actor she never loved him before she started to shoot at him while launching like a maniac."Even if it was far more complicated than people think."
"People often simplify true facts for entertainment. Stereotypes are easier to digest then real people." Ming Hua remarked.
"But you two did fight a Platypusbear and won?" Wu asked.
"Zaheer bended the air out of it's lungs. It was the only way." Femke admitted as she looked down.
"Couldn't you just use the same sort of bending from when you saved me during that rock slide? That was pretty amazing." Wu chimed in.
"It's a miracle he came out in one piece." Katara, who had been sitting in the back quietly until now commented with an amused smirk.
"Thanks to my airbending, I was fast enough." Zaheer nodded with a stern look. "But I needed a lot of training to get there. Not to mention I needed to learn that you don't immediately go in for the kill."
"You're getting better. Like when we saved Atteritta from Songpan." Ghazan smirked as he looked at Atteritta, who nodded in agreement. "I'm sure people would love to hear that story."
"I didn't expect them to be truthful, but this is taking it too far." Atteritta agreed as she looked at the play sternly.
"That's why I didn't want to come." I smiled before I got up and followed after Bataar to a balcony, were he was standing to look at the full moon with a longing look in his eyes.
"You okay?" I asked with a small smile as I stood next to him, noting how his features became wolf-like in the light off the moon.
I was wondering if anyone else in my family had those genes
shot threw me with a smile on my face as I looked at the moon as well, feeling the wolf inside wishing it could come out. I knew now was not a good time not in front of Bataar.
"I'm fine. I just had enough of watching this play." Bataar smiled, his eyes widening when he looked at me; my features were a lot more wolf-like now.
"Don't be afraid." I told him with a small smile while trying to hide my sharp teeth. "It has been part of who I am for a long time."
"What is it?" Bataar asked me while Opal, who joined us, smiled at me from the door opening since she already knew what I was.
"The full moon holds many secrets." I said as I eyed the full moon with a smile on my face. "Bloodbending is one of them but there are many more. Most off them are believed to be only stories."
"The children of the night exist?" Bataar asked me as he looked at me.
"Yes. When I was sixteen I was bitten by one of them." I told him with a sad look as I showed him the markings on my chest were the werewolf had bitten my so long ago. "Making me one of them."
"I always thought they were nothing but a myth." Bataar remarked with a raised eyebrow.
"Do you never read the newspapers? Sometimes mysterious things happen after a full moon and no one knows why. Well, I do."
"Did you kill those people?" Opal asked with a shocked look.
"No. I'm in control of myself due to the Wolfroot potion and when I am not I stay away from humans as best I can." I smiled. "There are more like me, though. And they are not in control of their powers."
"I wanted to ask when you told me; can werewolf genes be passed over by blood?" Opal asked.
"Yes." I answered.
"Does that mean Bataar and I have the same powers as you?" Opal asked, which made me look up at her with horror as something occurred to me; I transferred my blood to zaheer to save his life.
"Possibly. Speaking of which, I have to warn Zaheer!" I told her before I dashed past her and towards the area we had been sitting where I grabbed a small vial off wolfroot potion from my bag and handed it to Zaheer.
"Drink." I instructed him.
"Okay." Zaheer shrugged before he gulped the entire thing down before starting to cough violently.
"What was that?." Zaheer asked me with a disgusted look, which made me smirk a little.
"It's called 'wolfroot potion'. It keeps the woll inside you in check." I explained as I took a vial myself, squeezing my nose shut before I drank it as well.
"I was never bitten. why would I be in need of it?" Zaheer asked as he looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Sweetheart." I sighted now before I sat down next to him and placed a hand on his knee. "Being a werewolf is something that can be transferred by blood."
"You transferred your blood over to him." Xai bau realized with a shocked look. "That means…"
"I carried the curse over to him." I finished his sentence with a sad nod. "I never meant for that to happen but I was so focused on saving your life that I just."
I stammered, tears of shame and horror flowing over my cheeks. I looked up as Zaheer cupped up my head, making me look him in his eyes.
"If you didn't give me your blood I might have died. It was the only option you had." He told me with a stern look before he smiled as he looked at his hands, which had a little bit of white fur on them, just like me.
"It's not like he's the only one you passed it over to." Toph commented. "Or did you already forgot your family again?"
"You're the same as her?" Wu asked with a shocked look.
"Yes but Femke asked the leader of our kind to block me from being able to fully change because I won't be able to earthbend in my werewolf form but I did, unfortunately, pass it on." as she said the last part Toph turned her head to Su and Lin standing behind her, who gasped.
"That's why you forbade us from going outside during a full moon and told us to do the same with our kids." Lin realized.
"It was for your own good to keep you from transforming in a monster." Toph said, balling her fists.
"It's not too bad." I said as I gave my daughter a playful pat on the back of her head which resulted in a firm prod back, causing me to stumble.
"Anyway." Lin said. "Shouldn't we take that potion?"
"You don't want that." Zaheer smiled while I got some more vials of wolfroot potion and handed them to the Bei Fongs.
"That's a good idea." I said as I handed each of them a vial. Su, Wei and Wen took it at once without hesitating while Huan sniffed it first.
"Smells like Bataar's ego." He commanded before he gulped it down. "Tastes like it, too."
"That's not very nice to say about your brother." I said firmly, causing Huan to huff.
"It's true." Huan said.
"Maybe but really regrets what he has done." I said as I looked up at Bataar with a small smile. "If you hate him for what he did, you should hate me as well."
"Why?" Huan asked.
"He tried to take over Zhaofu" Wei said as Wen nodded.
"I attacked your mom and aunt and went along with people that killed many others for a twisted ideology." I said, looking down with regret.
"But you stopped in time and in the end, saved mom and Aunt Lin twice." Huan commented.
"I did so because even after all the things I had done and all the harm I caused, my family stuck with me.." I said, repeating what i had told opal only a day ago. "That can really make the difference between falling back in the same circle of violence or getting out of it."
"That's…. Actually kind of reasonable." Huan commented while Su smiled.
"Can I taste that wolfroot potion as well? You got me curious." Wu asked, holding out his hand.
"Here, you guys can share the last one. I'll take one to Bataar and Opal." I smiled, giving Huan a final firm look before I headed to where Bataar and Opal were. Opal held Bataar in her embrace.
"Here, take this. You'll feel better afterwards." I said as I handed them the potion.
"What is it?" Bataar asked me as he sniffed it.
"Wolfroot potion. Keeps the wolf inside you in check." I answered smiling. With this Bataar and Opal drank the potion as well.
"What's in this?" Bataar asked.
"Wolfroot, oakroot, the bark of an old willow and concentrated moonlight." I said as I got a few ingredients out of my bag and showed them to my great grandchildren, who looked at it in awe.
"If we have the power, why did we never change before?" Opal asked as she looked at me with widened eyes.
"You're kept out of the moonlight so it might be you just never triggered a transformation. Or you did transform but you can't remember." I said, looking down as I said the last part. I didn't quite remember my first transformation, either.
"Could it be we're the ones attacking people around Zhaofu?" Opal asked with a shocked look.
"Maybe. Werewolves tend to attack people on instinct." I answered truthfully.
"Like relatives?" Bataar asked, turning pale at the idea of having hurt his family before.
"It's possible. A werewolf doesn't see the difference between friend and foe. All they see is prey." I said as I looked down.
"Grandma." Opal whispered and before I knew it, Opal and Bataar hugged me tightly.
"Does it hurt to change?" Bataar asked after a moment of just hugging each other.
"The first few times but you get used to the feeling after a while." I Answered with a small smile as we stood leaning over the balcony again.
"Are there many werewolves?" Opal asked after a while.
"I don't know. We all agreed never to reveal others around us. I'm pretty sure there's more then our family." I said with a mysterious smile.
"Was it hard to hide it from your loved ones." This question coming from Bataar surprised me a little.
"Well with the Red Lotus I never hid it because we all slept outside and otherwise they would be in danger of being attacked but yeah, hiding it from your grandmother at first and the new Team Avatar later on was hard." I admitted with a sad look.
"The old Team Avatar knew?" Opal asked.
"Same as with the red lotus. We slept outside and it would be too dangerous to not tell them." I smiled a little as I remembered the looks on their faces when I told them about my werewolf powers. "Could you imagine what could have happened?"
"That could have ended with Aang being killed." Bataar said, looking at me with widened eyes.
"Something else I always wanted to know; what was your first reaction when you came back and heard people had passed away?" Opal asked me sadly.
"At first I thought it was a joke but when I realized eighty five years had passed here, I was devastated." I admitted, looking down. "I thought I lost everyone I ever cared about."
"That must have been an awful feeling." Bataar nodded in agreement.
"It got less over time. When I met my half brothers, you guys and my friends from the former Red Lotus." I smiled, hugging my two great grandchildren as I looked up at the night sky. Zaheer came to stand next to me.
"Did I miss anything?"
"Not really." I answered with a small smile as I wrapped my arms around him.
"Still more interesting than that play." Zaheer said. His eyes were glowing a soft ochre yellow as he did so.
It looks good on him
I thought as I looked him in the eyes, zaheer smiling back at me as he bent closer.
"Good thing I skipped it." I replied, gently giving him a small kiss before motioning to Bataar looking uncomfortable.
"Indeed" Zaheer smiled as he nodded and just came to stand next to me to admire the view as well.
"What really happened in the throne room?" Bataar asked out of the blue.
"There was a lot less talking, for one." I admitted with a sad look.
"Why don't you play it out?" Atteritta chimed as she looked at us from the doorway with a happy face.
"This time with what really happened" Lord Zuko smiled as he nodded and the two of us.
"I'm not much of an actor." I said with a blush on my face.
"None of us can, it's just for fun." Bolin said as he patted my boyfriend on the back, who grunted in pain.
"Tomorrow, okay?" I said as I looked up at the moon with a small smile on my face. "I have something else I have to do tonight."
"What might that be?" King Wu asked as he looked at her with a small smile.
"The moon calls me." I smiled, feeling my entire body calling to go out there and be a wolf for one night.
"Why?" King Wu asked.
"Would you guys care to explain to him?" I asked my friends as I sat on the balcony's railing.
"We'll try and explain, go on." Korra smiled as she waved her hand at me while Atteritta looked at me in confusion.
"You're hurt. You sure you want to do this?" Zaheer asked as I saw his jaw started to stretch out.
"Like we ever had a choice." I smiled, before looking at Bataar and the rest of my family with a smile on my face as I felt my jaw grow while hair started to grow all over my body.
"Who wants to can come with me? It can be fun if you're in control of your body." I told them with a small smile.
No reaction at first. All of them scared at the idea. However, after a moment, Bataar walked up to me and looked at the moon as well. His features becoming more wolf like.
"Calm your mind and let it come over you. It hurts less that way" I kindly told him while helping him on the railing as well.
"It actually feels good." Bataar smiled.
"It tickles a little but nothing to..." Zaheer started, grunting as his muscles started to bend to the wolf inside him
"Nevermind." He grunted, sounding like a wolf.
"Ready?" I asked Bataar as I shifted on all fours and ripped off my clothes, my body fully covered in fur.
"Yeah." He smiled as he did the same, his yellow eyes glowing with an amount of joy I hadn't seen in them for a long while. We jumped from the railing onto the ground below us as we disappeared from sight.
Normal POV
"What just happened?" Atteritta asked after a moment of watching the three werewolves disappear into the distance.
"They're werewolves. Humans that change into wolves at nights with a full moon." Zuko explained as he stood next to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Who knew?" Wu commented with a small, wavering smile.
"I did." Korra commented as she looked after Femke.
"It looked painful. How can they deal with that?" Allerys asked.
"Werewolves have a high resistance against pain." Master Xai Bau answered, looking after the three of them go with a small smile.
"Some people are used to pain." Katara said.
"We better get back inside now unless we want to change as well" Toph called as she turned and walked to the door. "They can handle themselves."
"That they can." Lin nodded after which all off them headed back inside except Su, who looked back at the moon once more.
Please watch over my little boy femke. I wouldn't survive losing him again
Su thought to femke, smiling as she heard the wolves howl in the distance before she went home with the others.

And with that I end the chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing this. I wanted to include a chapter with the Ember Island players since I started this story.
A/N:
Paranoidgirl told me that being a werewolf can very well be carried over by blood.
That was all for now! I hope you all enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for reading and thanks to paranoidgirl for her work as Beta Reader and translator
