Chapter 16

Chief Dodds comes and within two hours he's going. When Olivia thinks she's now able to to go home, Rafael turns up.

"ADA Barba. It's good to see you." Olivia hears chief Dodds say. Shit... she really didn't think he'd be back so soon. She gets up from her chair and goes to the door.

"Counsellor. I didn't realise you'd be back."

"Lieutenant I thought you would have left. No plans for the evening?" He says. He sounds pissed off and he's making it obvious.

"The evening hasn't even began yet. Hey if we have nothing to do here you can go. I'm going to stay with paperwork for an hour before my ride gets here."

"Enjoy your evening Lieutenant." Carisi and Rollins say before leaving.

"Bye Liv. Enjoy your night you too." Fin says with a smile.

Barba ignores it and walks into her office. Olivia follows him after saying goodbye to her team.

"Your ride?"

"Yes. I'm not walking home tonight."

"He picking you up?"

"He?"

"Haden."

"No. He isn't my personal taxi service. I assume you coming back means you've quit whatever drug you were taking when you thought of the idea of me wanting to have sex just after being fucking shot." Olivia snaps at him.

"Calm down Lieutenant."

"Calm down? Maybe you shouldn't say such bullshit to me." She's even angrier now.

"I bet you met him today after seeing me."

"Yes. I did. David told me what happened about your girlfriend. Oh and he laughed at your allegation. If you actually think that low of me maybe I should go and see David. See if he feels the way you obvious think he does. He might at least not think that low of me."

"Go for it. Me and you are done talking."

Rafael walks to the door. He stops and looks at Olivia. "Lieutenant, he can take my job too. After these cases I'm moving to a new unit. Unless you tell him to leave you alone I'll leave you without a boyfriend and SVU without an ADA."

"You wouldn't do it."

"I've got nothing to stay for if I don't have you." He says before walking out the door.

It hits 9pm and half the paperwork done the automatic 9PM light switches off outside her office and Olivia is packing up. After contemplating whether it would be a good idea to call David or not. She was about to make her decision when as she is about to turn from the window her door opens. An arm wraps around her waist pulling her closer and a hand goes to her mouth.

"Shhh." A voice says in her ear. She thinks she recognises the voice and some how feels okay her gun is near her desk so she can grab it quickly if anything does happen. However she starts to realise that she is completely fine when the hand moves from her mouth to move her hair from her neck. Someone kisses her neck softly before whispering to her ear "I happened to be in the area of your house. You are working late tonight Lieutenant." The person moves away and Olivia turns around.

"David. What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Well... I came by to see you this evening at your place. You have a case of a nosy neighbour apparently you hadn't come home yet so I thought I'd check here."

"Yeah well... I thought i may as well get some paperwork done."

"Have you been crying?"

Olivia just nods and they walk over to her sofa and sit on it.

David puts arm around the lower of her back "come here."

Lieutenant benson doesnt have to be told twice. She leans into him and feels the stress and the worries leave her. "Talk to me. Liv. Let me in." He whispers.

"Rafael came back after Dodds left. Told me that if I chose you i wouldn't just lose him as my partner I'd lose him as our ADA too. I didn't think he'd actually do it. Called him out on it he told me that I'm the only thing stopping him from going already."

"Why did he come back?"

"I don't know. He heard me say to my team that i would be going back to paperwork before my ride got here. I was thinking about getting a cab. Barba thought I was talking about you. Told him you are not my personal taxi service."

"I wouldn't mind that." David laughs.

"I told him that maybe I should go to you if he can really think that low of me maybe I would be better off with you. He told me to go for it. He told me to offer you his job before he walked to the door and said about leaving SVU without an ADA." Olivia sighs and leans from him. "I'm not upset. I'm just angry. But maybe this is what I deserve for cheating on him."

David rubs her back before caressing her cheek. "Liv... nobody deserves what he said to you. I'm so sorry. Do you want me to go?"

"No. Stay with me. I need to get out of this office tonight. Lets go."

"Okay. Do you want me to come to yours or do you want to come back to my place?"

"Yours."

"Come on then." David says getting up he takes her hand to help her up before he lets go of her he puts his hand to her cheek and kisses her softly. "Sorry forgot about no public intermacy."

Olivia just laughs and kisses him a little harder before leaving the office with him. They get in his car and go to his place. "What shall we get for food tonight?"

"I don't mind. Don't cook though its too late." She says.

"I'll ring Carlo and see if Duke can bring us some pizza."

Olivia just hums in agreement before saying "thank you."

"What for?"

"Making my evening bearable."
