The next day she leaves David's apartment before he does. She leaves a note for him.

She showers and gets changed and is about to leave for work when her phone rings. "Lieutenant Benson."

"Liv go get yourself some coffee. You are going to need it." Fin says with a sigh.

"Your in early." She says with a laugh. "Why?" She asks. It's not turned 8:30AM yet and she really doesn't want to face Rafael or anyone else for that matter.

"Seminar at 1PP."

She looks at her phone calendar and curses under her breath. How this shit all started? She thinks. "Okay. I haven't left yet so I'll get changed into my uniform and head to the office. Get me some notes on what this could be about and hand them to me when i get in."

"Already done. Good or bad news?"

"Bad. Get it done."

"Carisi has the flu so he won't be coming in today or tomorrow."

"And the good?" She sighs.

"I'll buy you lunch before your delight at 1PP."

She laughs out a "hero" before saying that she would see him later and ends the call.

"Come on Benson. You've got this." She whispers to herself after she puts on the uniform.

She goes to the office at 11:30AM. Fin hands her the stuff and as she is about to leave he puts a look on his face. "What?" She says worried. "Also where's Rollins?"

"Shes had to take her dog to the vet. Also sticky note on top." He whispers.

She reads the sticky note. Barba is in there. You may want to skip lunch.

She sighs. She takes her stuff to her office and sees Rafael barba stood in her office. She shuts he door.

"I've got a meeting with 1PP in 2 hours. What's?" She stops talking as he turns around to face her. "What the fuck happened to you?" She says going to him praying he doesn't say David.

His face is cut. His left eye is black and his shirt is ripped. He's holding ice to his jaw. "You know the major cases we've got back to back?"

"Yes." She says.

"Well... Reck got a beating and is in intensive care and won't be awake until after the date for the trial."

"And the second?"

He just circles his face with his finger. "Oh and whoever did it threatened to kill me. I think it was Diaz's men."

"Fucking hell. Do you remember..." She doesn't finish the sentence because Rafael nodds.

"Yes..." He takes a breath. "I was outside of my buliding this morning. Got dragged into an alley. I heard them talking about killing me in Spanish. Then the guy holding me said listen barba... you get killed if Diaz doesn't get off. They held a broken bottle to my neck. Beat me up and left. I got up and got a cab home. Cleaned up the best i could and came here. Seen Fin who helped me upstairs and cleaned some off the blood off my face."

"Okay. I want to get you some protection. Is there somewhere you can go? Have any friends out of state?"

"Out of state. Liv... I've still got my job."

"Raf... your life has just been fucking threatened."

"I know. I'll ring my mother and see if she wants to go visit family. The DA will need to appoint a new attorney. Maybe someone higher."

"Okay. Call her here. I'll have Rollins go and pick her up and take her here whilst i send fin with you to get some stuff from your place."

"Okay. Thankyou."

Rafael calls Lucia who agrees to go with him and books a flight to go see their family in Cuba. Rollins gets back and Fin fills her in and Amanda picks up Lucia and they meet Fin and Rafael at the cafe near the airport.

When Olivia looks at her notes its 1PM and the meeting is at 2PM. She sighs and as she is about to go out of her office Fin comes back with food. "Rollins is with Barba and his mother. She will stay with them until his flight at 4pm. Brought you some sandwiches."

"What a morning." Olivia says taking her sandwich. "Diaz's boys threatened Rafael with a broken bottle in the alley next to the courthouse. Reck got beat up in prison and in ICU."

"Reck got wrecked." Fin says with a laugh and Olivia chuckles too.

"We need to go see Diaz. After my meeting with 1PP I'll call you and we can go see him see if he will give up his boys for a deal. I'll speak to the DA myself."

"Okay. I'll drive you to 1PP."

Olivia nodds. They finish their food and go to 1PP. The meeting, luckily for Olivia is only a couple of hours and by 3:25PM she is out. She gets out her phone and sees a message from David from earlier on in the day.

12:20PM: Good morning. You need to call me as soon as you can. We've got an issue.

3:32PM: Sorry. I've been super busy all day. Rafael got beat up by Enrique Diaz's boys, he is a 3 time rapist and one of those is a 12 year old girl. I've been in a meeting with 1PP for the past 2 and a bit hours and now I'm going to go see Diaz with Fin.

She hits send and as she is about to call Fin, David calls her first.

"Hey. I'm just about to call Fin." She says.

"Liv you can't. I've just got off the phone with the DA. I need to meet you."

"Why?"

"I'm the one doing Diaz's case. You need to get here."
