"How are you feeling?" Peter looked at his wife lying next to him while supporting his head with his hand over their bed and softly massaging Gwen's belly.
He could now see a tiny bump in the center.
"I'm getting better," Gwen sighed heavily. She had awakened early with morning sickness. Peter had helped her and after she got better, they decided to return to bed and rest for a couple of minutes.
The sensation of Peter's soft touches in her belly was incredibly relaxing. She was glad to have him in her life.
They had told Helen and May about the pregnancy, causing them both to get extremely happy for the new addition to the family.
"I think… it's a girl." Peter moved his gaze off her belly and towards his wife's eyes. She looked back at him with her huge green eyes which without a doubt, would pass along to the baby.
Gwen smiled. "Why do you think that?" She placed her hand over his as they intertwined fingers.
"I don't know... I just have this feeling."
"What if... we have twins? Or more?"
A house full of Gwens and Peters would be something to see.
"Oh well, that would be fun." He laughed, accompanied by his wife. "But I think you would be a little bigger."
"Peter…! That's rude!" She gave him a cold stare which he found incredibly cute.
"I'm so sorry, that's not what I meant." He leaned closer and connected his lips with hers. She happily reciprocated the gesture.
Gwen broke the kiss and cupped his cheek. She asked, "Could you get me some water?"
"Of course, anything." Peter gave her a tiny peck in the lips, before turning to his side of the bed and grabbing the bottle of water that was set on the counter next to the bed.
He handed the bottle to Gwen who adjusted her pillow behind her back as she sat over the bed.
"Thank you, love." Gwen moved the bottle close to her lips and took a sip.
She turned her head back towards him and smiled. "You should prepare breakfast for us three while I take a shower."
"Won't you need any help, though?" He genuinely asked, moving a trace of her golden hair behind her ear.
Gwen sighed. "Peter, I'm not helpless… but I appreciate it."
"Sorry, I just don't want to screw anything up."
"You're not… you're doing great, you're a proper spider-dad."
"Well, after that, I'm relieved. It's not every day you come with the same bad jokes that I do." He teased.
She narrowed her eyebrows at him, "My jokes aren't bad! Just go make me something to eat…"
He laughed and leaned in for another kiss.
She knew how overprotective he could be with her, and that it would be no different with their baby.
At first, back in high school, she never imagined she would have all of what they had now with Peter. He would turn out to be her future husband and also the father of her baby, only later into their relationship that such thoughts started to appear in her mind.
"Love you," Peter said after breaking the kiss. He looked to Gwen's stomach and softly kissed the delicate skin. "Love you as well."
Gwen giggled, shortly.
He rose from their bed and wore blue shorts along with a shirt he picked from the wardrobe. He turned back to Gwen and asked, "Cereal and orange juice?"
"Yup." She nodded as Peter smiled at her and later stepped into the hallway. "Don't forget the strawberries too…!"

Peter drove the car towards Adam's clinic while Gwen talked animatedly, mainly about the baby. Eventually, though, Gwen stopped talking long enough for Peter to get a word in.
"So, will we find out the sex of the baby today?" He asked.
"Definitely," She glanced at him. "Do you want to know now? I was wondering that."
"Well-"
Gwen cut across him rather cheerfully. "I mean- it would be easier for us to know, so we can buy the right stuff in advance, paint the room the right color, and other things like that."
"Yes, but..."
She interrupted him again, "It would be kinda a surprise for us."
"I think..."
Peter rolled his eyes as Gwen stopped him a third time. "But I won't mind if we find now, I mean - I'm very excited to know if our baby is a boy or girl but if you don't want -"
"Gwendy!" Peter finally interrupted her, placing his right hand over her thigh.
"I wanted your opinion, didn't I?" She gave him a sheepish look. "Sorry."
"Nah... you're quite amusing when you get like this," He smiled. "I don't mind getting to know the sex now, it's your decision though."
"Right." She nodded, offering him no more than that.
Peter chuckled, handling the wheel as he entered the clinic parking lot. "You don't just have to give one-word answers now. I know you're practically exploding with excitement these days."
"I suppose you're right, yeah." She smiled.
Peter calmly parked the car close to the main entrance and took the key off the ignition. "Ready?"
"Ready as I will ever be."
They held each other's hands and entered the building, only having to wait for a few minutes in the reception before being called by the receptionist who seemed to be rather bored.
She quickly scanned Peter with her eyes, impressed by his toned build. Gwen wasn't having any of that as she got extremely annoyed by that behavior once she realized what the woman was doing.
She could never get used to the harassment towards him, even when he was wearing his Spider-Man suit.
"Ms. Stacy, right?" The receptionist asked from her chair.
"The one and only... and it's Mrs. Parker." Gwen pointed out, giving her a cold stare.
Peter had already noticed her annoyance which he thought was a little exaggerated.
"Okay… Dr. Adam's office is down that hallway." She pointed in the direction with her pen.
"Thank you." Gwen faked a smile as they proceeded to walk towards the hallway, excited to know their baby's sex, but at the same time annoyed that some women couldn't stop drooling over Peter.
"I'll put this possessiveness down to hormones," He kissed her on the cheek. "You're not usually bothered by that kind of thing."
"Oh trust me, I am… you're just… mine and no one else's."
"You're correct, Gwendy."
They entered the examination room together, Gwen appearing to conjure up a smile out of nowhere as they greeted the trustworthy young man.
She said, "Doctor, great to see you."
"Likewise." He gave them a wide smile. "And congratulations to you both."
Peter smiled. "Thank you, doctor."
"So, today is just a normal scan, could you please lie here?"
He gestured to the bed, Gwen nodding and lying down on it. Without being asked she rolled up the bottom of her T-shirt, exposing her stomach.
Peter took a seat next to her as Adams maneuvered a video-screen next to the bed while sitting in the chair beside the bed.
"This will feel a bit cold."
"It's okay." She nodded.
Peter watched him squeeze the bottle, the shiny, gel-like substance drizzling onto Gwen's stomach. Her smooth skin had become shiny and oily. She noticed his stare, giving him a grin and a wink.
"You okay?" Gwen softly asked, receiving a nod and a comforting smile from her husband.
An image appeared on the screen, in black and white and rather grainy at first. It became clearer and more pronounced though, the shape of Gwen's womb becoming visible. In the center was a small mass, looking like a misshapen oval to him at a first glance.
"And there... she is," Adams revealed after quickly analyzing the screen with his experienced eye. "That's her tiny arms and legs, her fingers are quite developed." He guided the pair by pointing to certain areas on the vid-screen "She's doing very well."
"She…" Gwen said to herself. "She's beautiful," She spoke in a hushed tone and smiled.
Their baby girl, one that would be raised with all the love that they could give her.
"Oh boy, oh boy..." Peter covered his face with his right hand and wiped the incoming happy tears from his eyes.
He had seen a lot throughout his life, fought the worst, and went through hell. But seeing the first images of the baby he made with Gwen, and hearing her heartbeat, was like nothing else mattered, there was no stronger sensation in comparison to what he felt in that current moment.
Gwen turned her head to his side as tears started to come from her green eyes by seeing her husband's reaction to the revelation.
Peter looked up, exposing his own eyes that were rather red before holding Gwen's hand and intertwining his fingers with hers. "I love you."
"I love you more."
He kissed her delicate hand. "We need to give her a name…"
Gwen smiled got wider, remembering the name he had mentioned during their honeymoon. They had that planned already.
She began gently, "Elizabeth… Elizabeth Stacy Parker."
"That's… perfect." He affirmed, "Liz."
Adams continued to scan her stomach with the device for an extra couple of minutes as the new parents excitedly talked about their daughter.
The rest of the examination was rather quick, a check of Gwen's vitals and a short conversation about how she had been feeling recently. Then the two of them began to talk about other, unrelated conditions and scientific projects since they shared some knowledge from such an area. Peter didn't know that much about it. He was as brilliant as Gwen, but in this particular area of pregnancy, he was somewhat lost, but the smile formed on Gwen's lips was worth it.
While snuggling in each other's arms, Peter and Gwen watched a movie together on their couch. Gwen herself had her attention towards the book she was reading about parenting.
She felt protected by Peter's arm that was snaked around her shoulders as she had her back laid against his chest. He could feel his hand playing with her ponytail.
They were covered by a blue sheet they stole from their bed. Ren slept over the rug, the sound of rain going on outside and the drops of water brushing against the windows gave everything a cozier sensation.
Peter moved his eyes away from the TV and down to her book. He slowly kissed her neck to gain some attention, but she kept herself focused on the book instead of him.
He brushed his cheek against her, kissing her freckles. "What are you reading?"
"Hmm...?" Gwen slowly moved her eyes off the book and at him. "Well, how do you educate your child? Something like that."
"You don't sound too thrilled."
"It's just that… well, I'm not so sure I can be a decent mother, you know? What if I fail at that?" She confessed. "Maybe this will help."
Peter gently took the book from her with the hand that once played with her ponytail and dropped the piece of literature into the other side of the couch.
He began, "Hey, you don't need... a book to learn that, it's a natural process and I'm pretty sure you're going to be the best mother ever."
"But what if…"
"You are just going to be, just the fact that you worry so much about this shows how dedicated you are, you two are connected and will always be, trust me on this one, okay?"
"You think so?" Gwen asked, tenderly.
"I don't think so… I am sure." He gave her a genuine smile. He cupped her cheek as she snaked one hand around his neck so that she could caress the back of his hair.
"What would I do without you…" She asked herself.
"You wouldn't have as much fun as you have with me, for sure."
She giggled, leaning him to capture his lips on hers.
As she thought of something that would most likely be true, Gwen broke the brief kiss and spoke, "She will be such daddy's girl."
"You do know that I have my way with my girls."
"You do?"
"Yes..." Peter leaned down again just to be interrupted by the tip of Gwen's finger against his lower lip. He leaned back, "What?"
"Could you… make us some popcorn?" Gwen asked, delicately.
"But you just ate that chocolate bar in what? Ten minutes ago?"
"But I'm hungry again!" She exclaimed before laughing. "I'm eating for two, me and your daughter! It's not just my sex drive that is going off the charts, you dork."
"Hey don't speak of that with our daughter around," She laughed. "Okay, but just promise you're going to watch the movie with me then."
"I… promise."
Peter sighed and groaned. "On my way then." He gave her a peck in the lips and went after her wishes.
"You're the best, honey!" Gwen stated to Peter who was found inside the kitchen. "Don't forget the cheddar!"
"I better be!"
She smiled in happiness and placed both hands over her stomach, already feeling some moves from Elizabeth who seemed to be awake.
The future never looked so bright before, she would do her best to give her little girl the best life that she could have, and with Peter at her side, Gwen was sure that she would achieve that.
"See? That's your dorky… the adorable spider-daddy."
