Lovino's POV

"Fratellone? fratellone wake up!" Feliciano screamed in my ear. It was the first day back from a three day weekend and I wasn't thrilled with the cold March air. I opened my eyes to see sunlight falling through my dark blue curtains. In this stupid place in the United States of America they got snow until May. I pulled the navy fleece covers around me and tried to ignore my optimistic brother. He jumped on the soft, warm bed; I exploded out of the covers. I zoomed towards the bathroom before he could give me his "hug therapy" which I don't need idiota! I was lucky to have outrun him. He's faster than una zanzara. I brushed my teeth and took a shower before getting dressed. While I was getting ready for hel- school, I remembered some students had a schedule change. I also recalled some were getting new homerooms. From what I heard The bad touch trio and the so called Awesome trio ripped some kids apart and got in big trouble. All of them except for Antonio Carriedo who was oblivious to most things. Except my crush on him when we were younger. I doubt he would remember now.

I flew downstairs with my Hetalia High uniform on. It was a plain royal blue shirt with the school's logo on it and black skinny jeans. I stole a glance at the clock and cursed under my breath. I grabbed my black and red back pack and my thermos of espresso. More espresso less depresso. Dragging Feli out the door with a piece of buttered toast in his mouth, we vamoosed to the bus stop. We were there in the nick of time as the appalling toxic yellow bus turned down our street to pick us up. "You bastardo! We almost missed the bus!" I yelled at my brother as the stupid yellow thing stopped in front of us. "But, you-" Feli began looking deflated. I gave him a small pat on his shoulder as I apologized and made my way to the back of the bus in my usual seat. I sat with a boy I knew who had a polar bear in his hand. My stupid fratello sat with his friend Ludwig, again. "H-happy birthday Lovino." The boy next to me congratulated shyly. I smiled as I thanked him, but internally I was screaming. That must have been why Feli was so bouncy this morning. I tried to think of something to say to the shy boy next to me. My social skills aren't anything less than undesirable. "Hey, where did you get that cute polar bear?" I asked him while he smiled at me while looking up with his brilliant purple eyes. "I got her when I was little and now she's one of my only friends. By the way my name is Mathew in case you forgot, like everyone else." He clarified. For some reason I didn't want to call him a bastard. Its not like I enjoy someones' company who is not my fratellino and his stupid friends! I wondered where Matthew was from, our school took in many international students. He didn't seem quite American. He rummaged through his backpack and handed me a thing shaped like a leaf. That's when I saw the Canadian flag key chain on his red back pack and realized something. Of course he's Canadian! It all clicked together, his kindness, polar bear, cold tolerance, and the thing he prepared to give me. "L-Lovino?" He questioned me with concern lacing his voice. I snapped out of it and looked at him and actually smiled a little. "Yes?" I looked at the maple leaf thing waiting for an explanation of some sort. "I- well I thought you should get at least one gift for your birthday. I had some extra candy in my bag-" I interrupted him with a bro hug."Thank you so much Mathew. Have you turned 15 yet?" I inquired. I popped open the wrapper of the candy. It tasted so good, things this good could only come from heaven. "Yeah, last year I did. I was born after the cut off in June; look at my wrist!" He beamed as the letters GB shimmered in golden cursive."Wow, do you know who they are?" I asked him. He gazed into the distance with a dreamy look while he thought about it. I knew the letters could be a girl or a boy. I could only hope mine was a boy, because I'm low-key gay."Yeah, so. I believe its' Gilbert." He smiled as the bus slid to a stop. Everyone got off the bus and I waved to Mathew and headed off to my homeroom. I thought it was going to be an ordinary day at school but boy was I wrong. It was all because of what was going to be written in gold and Antonio Carriedo .
