Here's Chapter 3 of Assassins playing Sword Art Online. Last time, on Assassination plays SAO, Nagisa and Kirito met Hotaru. The three entered a dungeon to fight the boss and earn an ore for some upgrades. On the way down, Nagisa told Kirito and Hotaru the origin of Korosensei. Now, they're about to battle the mid level boss in the dungeon. Will the three survive? And will Nagisa reveal that it was he who killed the greatest teacher he had ever known? Find out on this Chapter of Assassins play SAO!

"Yeah, we're here. Let's finish this later." Kirito said. Nagisa and Hotaru nodded in agreement. Together, the three rushed into the room. In the middle, there was a small cage. In the cage was a snow white rabbit, shivering. Hotaru walked closer cautiously as Kirito and Nagisa walked next to her carefully.

"The rabbit's here, but where is the boss?" she asked in confusion.

"The boss is a dive bomber, so we have to keep our guard up." Kirito replied, looking around carefully.

"What are we dealing with here?" Nagisa asked the beta tester.

"This guy's name is Bucksith the Fanged. When he's flying, he either attacks with a headbutt, or he blasts you with a fiery breath attack. When he's on the ground, he instead attacks with razor sharp claws. And a fiery breath attack." Kirito answered.

"What-? He has a breath attack? He has claws? He flies? Are we fighting a dragon?" Nagisa sweatdropped.

A sudden screech made them look up, just in time for a giant creature to slam into the ground between the three, sending them all flying. Nagisa bounced back onto his feet immediately after the attack. Kirito rolled and scrambled back to his feet. Hotaru yelped, but managed to stand up from the surprise attack.

"Is that the boss!?" Nagisa yelled to Kirito.

"Yeah, get ready!" he called back.

The beast blew away the dust, revealing a snarling bat. It was at least 8 feet tall, with metal claws. Hotaru yelped and hid behind the cage.

"Kirito! Why didn't you tell me it was a bat!?" she screamed at the startled swordsman. Nagisa charged at the bat and leapt at it, blocking its slash with his own.

"Why is that important!?" he yelled back. Nagisa grabbed onto the bat's fur, and was currently going on a wild ride.

"I'm afraid of bats!" she yelled back.

"Well I'm sorry! I-" Kirito was interrupted by Nagisa driving the bat into the wall. It fell to the ground, Nagisa riding it's back as it did.

"Are you done!?" he yelled at the two. The bat threw him off, but he landed on his feet easily.

"Yeah, sorry." Kirito ran next to the assassin. The bat snarled at the two and blasted them with a fire blast. Nagisa dove to the side, but Kirito was blasted. Nagisa rushed to his side and gave him a health potion.

"Why did you just stand there?" Nagisa deadpanned.

"I couldn't dodge, it was too fast." Kirito groaned.

"What are you talking about? That was like 10 miles an hour."

"Well I'm sorry that I'm not some over freaking powered samurai who can react to a bolt of lighting!" Kirito retorted.

"Look out!" Hotaru called. The two looked up as the bat smashed into the two, sending them flying.

"Ugh, Kirito, crouch!" Nagisa said. Kirito looked confused, but crouched down. As Bucksith flew down again, Nagisa leapt onto Kirito's back and jumped off him, sending the beta tester rolling back, yelping. Nagisa flew toward the bat and grabbed onto its ears.

Busksith shrieked as Nagisa repeatedly drove his blade into its spine. As it fell, Kirito activated his sword skill and slashed the beast. Nagisa jumped off, and as it slammed into the ground, he attacked it with his Lupus Dash.

"Okay, how much closer are we to winning?" Nagisa asked himself. He looked at the health bars, and sweatdropped as he saw that they had only managed to reach the end of the first bar. The first of four bars.

"This is going to take a while." he groaned.

"Well, that went well!" Kirito said sarcastically.

"Don't even try. I was the one who did practically everything!" Nagisa grumbled. The fight had taken almost an hour, and most of it was Nagisa getting thrown around and Kirito getting blasted as Hotaru shouted words of encouragement. Said girl was carrying the rabbit.

"Seriously, what were those moves? Are you part cat? How did you always land on your feet?" Kirito questioned.

"Wasn't Mr Octopus an assassin? Did he teach you to be one too?" Hotaru cut in.

"Sort of. When he became our teacher, the Japanese Ministry of Defense told us to kill him by becoming assassins." Nagisa explained.

"To what!?"

"They what!? What are my parents paying their taxes for?" Kirito wondered in disbelief.

"Airguns and rubber knives. They were specially made to be deadly to Korosensei. He taught us the basics, but they sent over a specialist named Tadaomi Karasuma to give us further instruction. He taught us parkour and balance, hand-to-hand combat, as well as usage of firearms and knives." Nagisa explained.

"Wait, you had to kill him?" Hotaru asked in concern. She knew that Mr Octopus had assassins going after him, but for even his own students? And he talked about them so fondly.

"Yeah, but it wasn't easy. We'd throw everything we had at him, but it was impossible to kill him. Not only did he move at Mach 20, but he also had superhuman senses. Not to mention that he was a former assassin. Hence the name, Korosensei." Nagisa explained.

"Ah, like 'korosenai,' the japanese kanji for 'unkillable,' and 'sensei,' the japanese word for teacher." Kirito realized.

"What was the classroom like?" Hotaru asked. She had only seen Mr Octopus for about 2 weeks, and she wanted to know as much as she could about the man who helped her and her mother. Nagisa smiled in nostalgia.

"It was awesome. Korosensei was both the weirdest and most caring teacher in the world. On one hand, he was a giant yellow octopus who could move and fly at Mach 20 speeds."

"What!?" Kirito exclaimed in disbelief.

"But on the other hand, he really enjoyed his job, and he worked very hard for us. He personalized tests to enhance our strengths and reduce our weaknesses. He did what he could to make us grow as people. And he legitimately cared about what we thought of him, and whether or not we were able to succeed."

"That does sound like Mr Octopus." Hotaru said, smiling.

"Sounds like you had quite the teacher. Kinda wished I had him as mine." Kirito admitted. "Little effy on the idea of being taught by yellow, Mach 20 flying octopus though."

"Yeah, he was pretty weird. But he loved us. And we loved him." Nagisa smiled. "But I digress. let's get out of here before-"

"Look out! Vipers!"

"Thank you! Oh thank you all so much!" the old man thanked them over and over again. He hugged the rabbit gently. The three had managed to make it out of the dungeon before the mobs attacked them again, and gave the rabbit back to the old man. After thanking them, he gave them each a shiny ore. The three waved goodbye before heading back to the village with their prizes. The sun was painting the entire field with an orange gold color.

"What are you guys gonna do with your ores?" Hotaru asked the two in front of her.

"I'm gonna trade it in for a new katana. I need a better one if I want to fight the floor boss." Nagisa answered.

"I'm just going to sell it for some extra Col." Kirito yawned.

"Wait, you guys are going to fight the floor boss?" Hotaru looked at them in surprise. "Won't that be dangerous?"

"Well, yeah. But if people said 'let someone else do it,' then humanity wouldn't be able to advance." Nagisa answered over his shoulder.

"Preach it bro." Kirito clapped slowly. Hotaru was silent for a while, until she looked up after making her mind.

"I see. Then I'll do it too!" Hotaru said determinedly. Nagisa and Kirito turned to the girl in concern.

"You don't have to. There are plenty of players who aren't fighting at all. No one will blame you if you just want to stay behind." Nagisa told his look-alike.

"I will though. It was fine when I didn't know anyone, but when I know someone who's fighting, then I won't be able to sleep at night out of worry and guilt. Besides, I'm level 12. I'm sure that if I work hard, I'd be able to get to a high enough level to fight the boss with everyone else." she insisted. Thanks to the boss that Nagisa beat, the party had all leveled up by a few levels. Nagisa and Kirito were level 16. Nagisa looked at her worryingly, but Kirito looked at her, impressed.

"Can't really argue with that, can you?" he said. "Alright, I'll point you in the direction of a place with a great selection of daggers and knives for you to choose from."

"Well, if you insist. I guess I can teach you how to use your knives more efficiently. That way you can be an excellent beast in battle." Nagisa conceded. Hotaru smiled at the two as she thanked them.

"Can we stay as a party? I can really use your help." she asked.

"Sure! We can use another friend. And one that could cook." Nagisa said jokingly. Hotaru had given both him and Kirito a taste of her food in the form of several sandwiches.

"Yeah, Shisa and I can't cook for-" Kirito was interrupted by a foot to the face, courtesy of Nagisa.

"Language fool!" Nagisa reprimanded. "And I can cook. The game just makes it so that I can't because I don't have the cooking skill."

"Speaking of meals," Hotaru interrupted before the two started fighting. "How about I make us a meal when we get back? I found a neat ingredient a little while ago."

"Sure! I bet it'd be delicious!" Kirito sighed as he rubbed his stomach.

"Well, let's get the gear upgrade first. Then we can eat." Nagisa decided. The other two nodded, Kirito rather reluctantly. They walked as the sun set lower over the horizon. As the night fell, the three looked up. The sky above them was splattered in a blanket of stars, covering the entire field in a soft light.

"You have to hand it to Kayaba. He really knows how to make a good graphic design. It's like it's the real world, but better." Nagisa mumbled, loud enough for the other two to hear.

"Yeah. But we still have to get out. I need to help my mom." Hotaru said quietly.

"And I need to help Sakura get into college." Nagisa added.

"Sakura?" Kirito asked.

"She's my student. I've been tutoring her for about three years now. I promised to get her into an excellent college." Nagisa replied.

"Taking after Mr Octopus, huh?" Hotaru smiled.

"Well, yeah. He is my role model after all." Nagisa smiled back. He turned to Kirito. "What do you have waiting for you Kirito?"

"Not much really. I mostly play games in my room. I don't really talk to anyone, so I don't have very many friends. I guess my sister and mom?" Kirito said with uncertainty. Kirito spent most of his time playing games by himself. He was considered to be the loner of both his school and family, so he doesn't have much to go back to. Nagisa scanned the swordsman next to him.

"Hey Kirito." Kirito looked up at Nagisa. "What's your real name?"

"Huh? Kazuto Kirigaya. Why?" he replied.

"My real name is Nagisa Shiota. When we leave this game, let's celebrate together. You, me, Klein, Karma, Kayano, and Hotaru." he gestured to the look alike. Kirito paused, and then smiled at the teal head.

"That sounds nice, but I live further North in Japan. It's unlikely that I'd be able to meet up with you guys." Hotaru said sadly. "Besides, I'll need to catch up with my school work if I want to pass middle school."

"Wait, middle school?" Nagisa stopped. He turned to Hotaru. "Hotaru, how old are you?"

"Eleven. Why?" she replied. Kirito also stopped and looked at her. As the two stared at the confused girl, they realized that she did look rather small, and young.

'She is way too young to die in this crappy game.' they thought simultaneously, mentally swearing to protect the little girl, as said little girl tilted her head in confusion.

And that's Chapter 3. Now, when I saw on the wiki that Hotaru was in elementary school, I decided that I wanted to make her the little sister of the group of characters. So you can expect big bro bear Nagisa to appear every now and then. I won't be pairing her with anyone. The only pair I did already decide on is NagiKae. That's it, nothing else. I may decide on making a triangle with Nagisa, Karma and Kayano, but that's something I have to think carefully about.

Last chance to decide. Asuna or Sinon. Whichever one will be the one Kirito will end up with. If you don't vote now, I'll just plug it into the randomizer. And also leave a review about what you think went wrong with Sword Art Online. That way, in this rewrite, it could be better, or more satisfactory in certain cases. I mean seriously, after two years, 'I forgot' is the answer that Kayaba gave them!?

Anyways, as per the usual, leave a review letting me know what you think of this series. Azure out!
