It was a cold winter day, a small boy, Kokichi, and a taller boy, Shuichi, met at a local park.
Kokichi was sitting alone on a bench before shuichi noticed the purple haired boy,
"H-Hey..."
Shuichi spoke softly, his parents no where to be seen
Kokichi looked up at Shuichi, and hesitantly spoke with confidence
"Hi! What's your name?"
Shuichi was a bit startled by this response as the short boy seemed so timid but now he was so bubbly
"S-Shuichi Saihara..."
Kokichi smiled
"Im Kokichi Ouma!"
Shuichi looked to the side and smiled,
"Why are you alone, Kokichi?"
He asked wanting an answer, however Kokichi ignored his question and started asking several strange questions to Shuichi,
"Have you ever been friends with a robot? O-Oh! Hoowwwww about a duck!?"
Kokichi started rambling on about ducks and robots until Shuichi interrupted him
"Kokichi?"
Kokichi stopped and looked at Shuichi with innocent eyes,
"Have you ever felt sad?"
Kokichi stopped and looked around before looking back at Shuichi,
"What makes you ask that Saihara-Chan?"
Shuichi looked at Kokichi and fell back a little,
"S-Saihara...-Chan?"
Kokichi looked away and blushed slightly
"What? It's perfectly normal."
They were both silent, only the sounds of other children playing with eachother broke their silence,
"Shuichi, I... I have felt sad before... but... what makes you ask?"
"Its just... It's nothing... nevermind,"
Kokichi looked at Shuichi before getting off of the bench and grabbing his arm, the boy pulled Shuichi to a nearby tree,
"Wanna play a game?"
Shuichi looked at the tall tree,
"Ummm... Why here... That tree is really tall-"
Kokichi sighed
"But im borrreeeddd...!"
he moaned,
"Oh- i'm sorry if im boring you... I will just leave-"
Shuichi turned away but before he knew it Kokichi grabbed his hand
"No! its not that!"
Saihara turned back towards Kokichi,
"I-It's not?"
"No!! I think your quite intresting Shuichi!"
Shuichi blushes as Kokichi's grip losens, the young detective's neutral face slowly morphed into a smile,
"Kokichi, come, i wanna show you my friends!"
Kokichi looked at him before taking in what he had just said
"W-wait... i'm not sure thats a good idea Shuichi...!" His voice was frantic
"What do you mean? I think its a great idea! Do you not want to have more friends?"
Kokichi looked at the ground,
"It's... It's not like that Shuichi... People don't like me-"
"Huh?"
Kokichi went silent, he hesitated,
"If it makes you happy..."
Shuichi looked at Kokichi, He was curious on how Kokichi's mind worked, and what had happened to make people hate him so much,
"Are you sure...? You seem nervous Kokichi."
Kokichi looked up at the tall child,
"Yeah..."
After a few minutes of Shuichi asking if Kokichi was sure and comforting him, he walked him over towards Maki, Kaito and Kaede,
"Hi Shuichi! Who's this? A new friend?" Kaito asked eagerly
"Yeah, This is Kokichi,"
Kokichi waved slightly,
"Hey Kokichi! Im Kaede, that's Kaito and that one over there is Maki! Nice to meet you!"
Kokichi stared at them for a few seconds,
"Hi guys!"
It was like all of his fear had disappeared, it wasnt long before Shuichi was wondering if he felt nervous before he walked up to him,
"Hi..." Maki spoke coldly and it made Kokichi's face change slightly,
They all had a good time until Maki asked where Kokichi's parents are, most of their parents were talking on a picnic table,
"I- I can't answer that question..."
Kokichi spoke quietly,
Shuichi looked at him worringly,
"Kokichi are you okay?"
Saihara put his hand on Kokichi's shoulder, Kokichi flinched,
"T-They are just...-"
"Kokichi?"
Kokichi looked at the boy's yellowish eyes,
"Shopping."
"What?" Maki Asked
"They are shopping,"
Kokichi took a submissive stance before taking a step back,
"I dont get why that was a hard question,"
"Calm down Maki, Kokichi is probavly nervous around new people." Kaede stated,
"Hmmmm... Hey guys! wanna make a snowman?" Kaito said trying to lighten up the mood
"Sure!"
Kokichi wanted to get off of the topic of his parents, he didn't care if the game would bore him,
Kokichi walked towards Kaito when he notices someone walking towards him, he recognised who it was, they had come to give him his scarf, cape and hat,
"Oh- I will be right back!"
Kokichi ran towards the man dressed in white and a checkered scarf,
"Huh? Who's that?" Kaito asked the others,
"Ah- D.I.C.E?"
Saihara knew almost instantly because of the uniform,
"Wait... is...-
Nevermind..."
Shuichi looked away from Kokichi and the other man,
"Is something wrong, Shuichi?"
Shuichi looked up at them, "No, its fine, im just being a little bit dumb thats all," He laughs a bit
"I'm back!" Kokichi snuggled with his cape,
"Wow, that looks cozy!" Kaito pointed out,
"Mhm!"
They all walked over and started to make snowmen,
"Nishishi! Mine looks like a real leader!"
Shuichi looked at Kokichis snowman,
"Woah! it looks like a superhero! Great work Kokichi!"
Kokichi made a big grin and looked at Shuichi, before getting hit with a snowball,
"Huh?!"
They all looked at eachother, until they hear a shout from the distance,
"KOKICHI!"
"HUH?!"
Shuichi looked at him and then the woman who threw the snowball,
"Is that your mother Kokichi?"
"I-" His voice was shakey,
The woman seemed extremely agitated,
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO HANG OUT WITH THOSE... THOSE... DELINQUENTS!!" She started running towards Kokichi, Kaede and Kaito got up and backed away, Shuichi slid himself away from the woman, Kokichi immediately got up with tears in his eyes, he started to run away from the girl,
"Stop!!" Kokichi cried
The commotion had made everyone in the park go silent, the parents were concerned. Eventually the woman caught up to Kokichi, she hit him.
"Aah-!"
"KOKICHI!!" Shuichi was genuinely scared for Kokichi,Kokichi fell onto the snow, the parents of the other children, stood up as the women continued to hit Kokichi,
"Is he okay?!" Kaede asked before Kaito shouted,"HOLD ON KOKICHI! YOU WILL BE OKAY!"
Kokichi was begining to loose conciousness before one of the parents stepped in and tried to pull the woman away, she kept trying to swing at Kokichi, eventually 2 of the D.I.C.E members intervened and started helping the parent, Saihara rushed over to pull Kokichi away from her,
"Kokichi?! Are you okay?!"
The others rushed over after Shuichi.
