Territorial, part 2:

Farrah hummed to herself as she kicked her feet under her chair. She was still on cloud nine from her date last night. Despite the fiasco with the punks at the arcade, she and Benedict had thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They'd even made it back home on time, much to Laxus' surprise (and maybe slight disappointment now that he didn't have an excuse to disapprove of Benedict).

"Farrah?"

Farrah turned at the sound of her voice and saw Mirajane walking towards her. She stood to her feet and went to meet her mother.

"Yes, Mama?"

"I'm missing a few ingredients for the picnic this afternoon," Mirajane said as she held a list out to Farrah. "You mind running to the market and grabbing them for me?"

"Sure!" Farrah smiled, taking the list and skipping towards the door.

Mirajane just grinned as she watched her go before heading back to the kitchen.

"She sure is in a good mood," Cana commented as she took another swig of her drink.

"Yeah, what's gotten into her?" Lucy asked from where she had been helping Mirajane make lemonade for the guild-wide picnic that afternoon.

"Oh, nothing," Mirajane smiled. "She just had her first official date with Benedict last night is all."

"Oh, ho, ho," Cana chuckled. "Alright, Farrah, we see you. Little Miss Heartthrob!"

"Did it go well?" Lucy asked.

"Would the girl be skipping through here like she's on cloud nine if it hadn't?" Cana replied snarkily as she took another swig of her drink.

"I guess that's true," Lucy smiled, adding sugar to a pitcher and stirring it. "Gosh, her first date already? Seems like only yesterday she was a tiny little thing that always stayed in Laxus' shadow."

"I know," Mirajane sighed. "Our kids are growing too fast! I don't like it!"

"You're telling me," Cana said. "I'm the one who had to give Koree that entrance-into-womanhood pep talk. That was awkward."

"Tell me about it," Lucy sighed.

Cana's eyebrows raised. "Wait, did Nashi-"

"Yup, this morning," Lucy nodded, eyes growing a little teary. "You're right, Mira, these kids are growing up too fast!"

Just then a group of men walked by, Laxus among them, clearly looking for something.

"Hey, Mira, have you seen the kids?"

"Cato's probably out back with his friends," Mirajane answered. "July's taking a nap in one of the spare bedrooms, and I just sent Farrah to the market to get some stuff for me."

"Yeah, saw her headed that way with Benedict," Wakaba said as he walked by.

"With-Wait! No one said she could take him with her!" Laxus protested.

"No one said she couldn't either," Cana pointed out, a smirk on her face.

"Cana, are you actually trying to help my daughter cause mischief behind my back?" Laxus asked, eyes narrow.

"I'm the cool aunt of Fairy Tail, it's my job!" Cana shrugged before taking another swig of her drink.

Mirajane just shook her head. "Oh, Laxus…"

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

"Okay, so the first thing we need are cucumbers…" Farrah said as she and Benedict entered the marketplace, hand in hand, happy for an excuse to get away, even if it was to go run errands.

"...white bread, butter, roast chicken, and about a dozen different types of fruit."

"Hm," Benedict thought as he read over his girlfriend's shoulder. "How about I start getting the fruit while you get the cucumbers. Then you can meet me and we'll get the rest together."

"Sounds like a plan to me," Farrah shrugged.

"Alright, see you in a minute," Benedict said, pecking Farrah on the cheek before grabbing a basket and heading towards the fruit section.

He started with the apples, tested a few for firmness before finding some to his liking and placing them in his basket. He'd just moved onto grapes when he heard someone call "hey!"

He turned to find a rather well dressed, rich looking young girl, around his age, walking towards him.

"Uh…" Benedict looked around. Was she talking to him?

"Hey, you!" the girl called again.

"Me?" Benedict asked, pointing to himself.

"Yeah, you," the girls said, stepping right up to him. "Aren't you that boy who destroyed that machine at the arcade last night."

"Oh, uh, hee-hee," Benedict rubbed at the back of his neck. "Yeah...that was an accident. I didn't mean to break anything, well, except for maybe a few noses and eardrums. Guess I overdid it...sorry."

"Wow," the girl gasped in a surprised voice. "You must be pretty powerful if you can destroy a machine in an accident."

"Eh, not really," Benedict shrugged as he began looking through bags of grapes for a pack to his liking.

"Aw, you're so humble," the girl said drawing closer, before noticing something on his neck. "Wow, you're in Fairy Tail, huh?"

"Yeah," Benedict answered, not looking up from his shopping.

"So you're not just someone who dabbles in magic from time-to-time, you're a full fledged wizard."

Benedict shrugged. "I guess," he tossed the grapes into his basket and moved onto the oranges.

"You must be really brave," the girl batted her eyelashes at him, but Benedict didn't notice because he wasn't looking at her, he was too busy getting groceries.

"Eh," he shrugged, picking up an orange. "I guess. Only when I have to be."

"Well, you were pretty brave last night."

"Not really."

"Not just anyone would attack four people all by themselves. And you won by a landslide."

The girl frowned when Benedict still didn't pay attention to her. She slid in between him and the orange stand, sitting on the edge of it and leaning towards him.

"It was so impressive!" she said in a low voice.

"Uh, could you move, please?" Benedict asked, looking a bit confused as to what the heck this girl was doing. "I kinda need to get that," he pointed to the oranges behind him.

"What?" the girl asked, taking an orange in her hands and tossing it between her palms. "Are the oranges just more attractive than me?"

"What?" Benedict asked.

"Are the oranges just super interesting that you would rather pay attention to them than me?" the girl asked in a flirty voice, batting her eyelashes.

Benedict finally caught on to what was happening. Deciding he could go back and get oranges later he decided to move onto the bananas. Before he left, though, he said:

"I think you have the wrong idea."

"Oh, so I am interesting and attractive after all," the girl said, standing up to follow him.

"No," Benedict answered, quickly realizing what he said. "No! I didn't mean that! I just...you just...look, I don't know you, but you seem nice enough. It's just that-"

"If I seem so nice then what's the problem?" the girl asked, batting her eyelashes again and stepping close to him. Benedict took a step back, holding his arm out to stop her from getting closer.

"Look, I already have a girlfriend, so...yeah…"

"Well, I don't see her," the girl insisted, trying to step close to him again.

"That's not the point," Benedict said.

"But she's not here," the girl further insisted. "What she doesn't know won't kill her right."

"Seriously?" Benedict arched an eyebrow, thoroughly unimpressed.

"Yeah. After All, I'm quite the catch, aren't I? You can't tell me a wizard girl is better than a socialite heiress like me, can you?"

"Actually, I can. Because she is. And I love her. So please go away," Benedict deadpanned.

"Oh, come on, why you gotta be like-"

"Hi, babe!"

Benedict turned as Farrah came skipping towards him. She passed the socialite, threw her arms around Benedict's neck and kissed him. Not just a little peck like he was used to, either. A long, passionate kiss. Benedict's eyes went wide at first, and he dropped his shopping basket. His eyelids had just fluttered closed when Farrah pulled away, still keeping her arms around his neck as she turned towards the very stunned socialite.

"Oh, and who are you?" Farrah asked in a smug voice.

The socialite's surprise faded, being replaced by disgust as she crossed her arms. "You mean you DON'T know who I am?"

"Afraid not," Farrah answered, still smug, arms still around Benedict's neck.

The girl sniffed and turned to Benedict. "And you'd rather have an uncultured swine like her over me?"

"Excuse me?" Benedict warned, gently guiding Farrah behind him. "What did you just call her?"

The girl took a step back, surprised. She'd gotten the impression thus far that Benedict was a no-anger, laid back person, supported by the fact that he had shown no interest in her what-so-ever. Now, however, a switch had seemingly gone off, and he was very, very angry.

Farrah wrapped her arms around Benedict from behind, setting her hands on his chest as she leaned over his shoulder and kissed his cheek.

"Oh, leave her alone, Babe," she said. "She's not worth it."

"Hmph," Benedict sniffed, setting one hand over her's, which was still resting on his chest.

The socialite finally took the hint, or several hundred hints, and made her exit.

"What a brat," Farrah sniffed as she watched the girl slump away.

"So…" Benedict said as he intertwined his fingers with Farrah's. "Who's the jealous one now?"

"I'm not jealous, I'm territorial," Farrah insisted, letting go of her boyfriend and pulling the list out of her pocket.

"So now you're using my own words against me?" Benedict's eyes narrowed.

"Hey, we're a couple," Farrah shrugged. "What's yours is mine. And what's mine is yours."

"Uh-huh, sure," Benedict rolled his eyes, intertwining his fingers with hers once again as they continued shopping for groceries.
