Chapter 2 She's Not Real, Nightmares Can't Hurt You
"Danny… what happened" Kenickie asked their leader."I had a bad dream" was all Danny could say."But it's just a dream, right. Nightmares can't hurt you" Doody told him. Danny shrugged."Yeah, but… she returned" Danny added."Who returned" Sonny wondered. Danny looked up at Kenickie."Guys… I think Danny and I need to be alone" Kenickie told them."Alright, but I wanna know who returned" Putzie said."Yeah Zuko, don't leave us hanging" Doody added."Guys please" Kenickie pleaded. The rest of the T-Birds left the room, leaving Danny and Kenickie alone.
"Danny… what is going on?" Kenickie asked. Danny sighed."Remember that lady I told you about a few months ago that I dream about? The lady who thinks she's my mother" Danny started. Kenickie nodded."Yeah, that's one terrifying dream" Kenickie said."Well… she came back. She told me she's gonna change my dreams up and she'll always show up" Danny explained."She came back! But, Danny, you know nightmare's aren't real. It's just like Doody said" Kenickie reminded him."I know, but, I feel like this lady is more than just a dream. Kenickie… she told me she terrorized other cute children in their dreams before she takes over their life" Danny added.
"Zuko, Zuko, Zuko, Zuko" Kenickie sighed as he shook his head.
"She's just part of a dream, she isn't real".
"How do you know, Kenick's?" Danny asked."Have you ever dreamed about the same person over and over again ever since you were in a crib?".
"No. But, you can conquer her. You just have to believe in yourself" Kenickie informed him.
"I might be a tough leader in the real world, but I'm small and helpless in her world" Danny said.
"You are not helpless, Danny" Kenickie told him.
"Don't worry about her. You can conquer her by telling her she's not real".
Danny sighed."I don't know if it will work, but… I'll try" Danny said.
"Good. Before you know it, she'll just be a distant memory" Kenickie added."I really hope so" Danny said."Would you like me to stay with you for a while" Kenickie asked. Danny nodded."Yeah, if you don't mind"."Not at all" Kencickie said. Kenickie got off got off the couch."Guys, you can come back in now" Kencickie called. Doody, Putzie and Sonny came back in to the living room."Who's back?" Sonny asked."That is none of your concern, Sonny. Now, come on let's all go to bed. It's late" Kenickie said and turned off the tv. The T-Birds all turned in for the night.
Dream
Danny was standing in a dark hallway. The walls were wet and cold. Their was red light shining under a door at the end of the hallway. Danny forced himself to walk towards the door. But, as he got closer and closer, he heard humming. He knew this song. Someone was humming 'You Are My Sunshine'. Danny started to quietly sing along.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away".
Danny finally made it to the door as he stopped singing. But, the humming continued. Danny opened the door ever so slowly to reveal the lady. She was standing in this red lighten room by a crib. She turned to see Danny. She smiled."Danny, so glad you could make it. Come in, make yourself comfortable" she said. Danny walked in the room."What's this all about" Danny wondered. The lady smiled."This is your new room, dear" she told him. She walked towards a rocking chair that was sitting in the corner."Come here and I'll rock you to sleep as I sing to you" she said.
Danny walked towards her."Come on, sit on my lap, dear" she insisted as she sat down. Danny took a deep breath."You're not real. None of this is. This is all just a dream" he said calmly and slowly. The lady glared at him, then pointed forward. The bed room door closed and locked. Danny gasped as she locked the door behind him. He was trapped!
"But, of course I'm real, baby. You have no idea how real I am" she cooed, creepily.
She patted her lap."Come, sit on my lap" she insisted again.
Danny did as he was told and sat on her lap. She pulled him close to her and hugged him.
"You can never get rid of me that easily, Danny Zuko. So, sit back and relax… and enjoy the show".
