Chapter 4 Little Danny
Kenickie looked at the time, then back at Danny."Wanna try to go back to sleep" Kenickie calmly asked him."Nothing much else we can do I guess" Danny said. Danny and Kenickie fell back asleep in Danny's bed. Hours later, Kenickie woke up, refreshed. Kenickie looked down to see that Danny was still laying in bed. Kenickie sighed, a sigh of relief. Kenickie started to gently shake Danny to wake him up."Danny. Hey Danny" Kenickie quietly said. All of the sudden, he heard sobbing."Come on, please wake up, Zuko" Kenickie pleaded as he continued shaking the crying boy next to him.
Danny woke up. Kenickie stopped shaking him."Zuko?' Kenickie said. The rest of the T-Birds came in the room."Hey, wanna go to the Frosty Palace?" Doody asked. Danny screamed like a small frightened child and continued to cry. Kenickie started to gently rub his leader to calm him down."Hey, It's okay, Danny. They're not gonna hurt you. They're your friends" Kenickie reassured him."Friends" Danny said in a small voice."Oh no. Is he in his childlike state again?" Putzie asked.
"I guess so" Kenickie sighed. Kenickie helped Danny sit up.
"Danny this is Putzie, Doody and Sonny. You remember them, right?" Kenickie asked. Danny shrugged.
"Oh no, he doesn't remember us" Putzie cried.
"Well, I guess we'll just have to make him remember you. Come on lets play with him" Kenickie suggested.
Downstairs the guys decided to play 'hot and cold' with Danny. Kenickie got a cookie and showed it to Danny. Danny made grabbing hands because he wanted the cookie. Kenickie pulled it away."Not yet" Kenickie told him."I'm gonna hide the cookie somewhere in this room and your job is to find it" Kenickie started to explain. Danny nodded his head, understanding."Doody. Care to explain the rest of the rules?" Kenickie asked.
"Sure. When you look around the room, we're gonna say weather your hot or cold. If you wonder away from the from the cookie. We'll say you're cold. If you're getting closer to the cookie, we'll say you're getting warmer until you're actually next to the item it's hiding and then we'll say you're hot. Understand?" Doody explained.
"Yes" Danny said in his small voice as he nodded."Good. Now, close your eyes" Kenickie instructed.
Danny closed his eyes as he put his hands over them."No peaking" Kenickie told him.
Kecnickie hid the cookie behind a pillow on the couch."You can open your eyes now" Kencikie told him as he was now further away from the couch. Danny uncovered and opened his eyes."You can look for the cookie now, Danny" Putzie said. Danny searched the living room as the guys told him if he was close to the cookie or not. Danny touched a vase that was on a small table by the couch."You're getting warmer" Kenickie told him. Danny finally walked to the couch and touched the first pillow."You're hot" Sonny cried. Danny looked at the pillow to see no cookie. He looked back up at Sonny with puppy dog eyes.
"It's behind it, little buddy" Sonny chuckled.
Danny pulled the pillow away to find the chocolate chip cookie and grabbed it, happily. Danny ate the cookie."You did it. Good boy" Kenickie praised as he ruffled Danny's hair. Danny laughed. Then, all of the sudden, the adult Danny came back to reality!"Guy's. What's going on? Why am I here?" Danny asked in his normal voice."Zuko, you're back! You were in your childlike state because you were scared by your dream again" Kenickie explained.
"Oh no" Danny groaned."Why do I taste a chocolate chip cookie?" he wondered."We played hot and cold with the little you, so you could remember, Doody, Sonny and I. You didn't seem to remember us. So, Kenickie hid a cookie behind that pillow on the couch, so you could play" Putzie explained."Okay" was all the leader could say."Danny? What did you dream about?" Kenickie asked.
"I was in bed with you. You were sleeping, then… the lady came. She took you away from me, Kenickie. I heard hard breathing. I knew it was her and she took me too. She asked me to choose between you or her. I picked you and she had her husband take you away, and take your soul. The thing is she wanted me to choose her. She just wanted her husband to take you away" Danny explained. Kenickie sighed."I'm sorry, Zuko" he apologized."Do you wanna go out with us, Danny?" Sonny asked. Danny nodded."We can head over to the Frosty Palace right now if you want" Putzie said. Kenickie rolled his eyes."Sure. Let's go" Danny agreed. All the T-Birds left to go to the Frosty Palace.
