Chapter 6 The Break Down
Danny is now driving Greased Lightning on Thunder Road, he figured it would be a great spot to clear his head. He couldn't believe this was happening to him. Sure he dreamed about this lady for a long time, but a lot was happening with him now. He even dropped into his childlike space in public! He's not sure how much more of this he's gonna take. He wants to sleep. He wants to be a normal person, but he can't because of this lady. Danny doesn't even know the women's name! He wants to get rid of her once and for all , but he feels like he can't do it alone. He needs his Greasers to help him on this one.
Maybe he can find this women's weakness and break it. Then, maybe he could get rid of her. Even though he has to do whatever she says. He's willing to twist something around that. He's Danny Zuko! The tough leader of the T-Birds! He should be able to do that. After a while, Danny decided to just drive back home. He entered to find Kenickie sitting on the couch watching tv."Hi" Danny greeted."Hey Zuko" Kenickie greeted with a small smile. It was dark out now.
"How was your drive?". Danny shrugged."It was fine. Did the others go home?"."Yeah" Kenickie replied. Danny sat down next to Kenickie. Kenickie smiled a small smile at the leader."Hey, I'm sorry again about earlier" Kenickie apologized. Danny shrugged again."Forget it". Danny sighed and laid back."I don't know what to do anymore, Kenick's". Kenickie looked at Danny."You mean with this dream lady?"."Yeah. I'm stuck. I never dreamed about her every day before"."Maybe you should get some help" Kenickie suggested."Nah" Danny replied."No one else has never gone through this with this crazy lady before"."Maybe not. But, people have gone through none stopping nightmares" Kenickie told him.
Danny sighed a sad sigh as if he was about to cry."I don't know what to do anymore, Kenickie" Danny said, sadly.
Kenickie put a reassuring hand on his friends shoulder."Hey, you're gonna get through this. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But, you will get through this".
Tears started to stream down Danny's face. He stood up and turned towards Kenickie, and started shouting."But I don't know when! I don't know when! Do you know what it's like to be me!? Nightmare after nightmare, after nightmare and no idea how to stop it!? As you know I dreamed of this lady ever since I was in a crib. A crib! Then, I act like a big cry baby over it! Well, it's her fault, not mine! I'm sorry, but, I just can't take it anymore" Danny cried and started sobbing.
He dropped to his knees as he stated to cry. Kenickie ran over to his crying friend. He rubbed his back as he sobbed."I'm sorry, Danny. I am so sorry. I don't want you to have another nightmare, but you should lie down and rest. You're not getting enough sleep, and it's got to be bothering you. I'm worried for you". Danny continued crying."Shh, it's okay. I'm here. I'll make sure nothing hurts you".
Danny calmed down, then looked up at Kenickie."But, that's my job. I'm the one who's supposed to look after you guys. I'm the leader".
"That doesn't mean we can't look after each other. Come on,. Let's watch a little tv, then go to bed".
Danny nodded. After the two watched tv for a while, they went to bed. Kenickie looked at the sleeping form next to him. Danny looked a little more peaceful, he hoped that was a good sign. He hoped Danny could sleep normally soon. Kenickie closed his eyes and let the dream world take over him. But, what Kenickie didn't know was that something was waiting for him.
