Chapter Nine – To Catch a Flair
Flairs' House, Charlotte, NC
The Shield faced off against Jeff Hardy and Stephanie McMahon Hardy waiting to strike after Roman Reigns Superman Punched all the drones taking them all out of commission.
"Where's Beth? She needs to be with us or else we'll be outnumbered," Jeff Hardy said flying over to the Flairs' house where Beth Hardy was hiding in the bathroom.
"We're outnumbered anyway but since I'm three times richer than all of you I can make up the difference," Stephanie McMahon said and she gestured to Bayley to join her. "You're on my side Bayley get over here and join me and Jeff so we can take these Shield morons out together,"
"Stephanie I told you I'm good now, I'm sticking with the Shield and I have no problem taking you out," Bayley said and Stephanie pulled Roman's hair.
"Ow!" Roman said. "Get off me!"
Seth tickled Stephanie and she had no choice but to let go.
"She pulled my hair Seth," Roman said and Seth stroked Roman's hair before he turned to Stephanie indignantly. "do you know how sensitive my scalp is?"
"I'm sorry Roman I didn't know you were such a girl," Stephanie said sarcastically as Jeff waited for his daughter Beth to join them in the air.
"Beth get out here Steph and I need you!" Jeff Hardy said.
Beth pulled at her hair in frustration, "I'm not attacking Uncle Seth, leave me alone daddy!" she cried back.
"Elizabeth Hardy get out here now!" Jeff said firmly and Beth knew she couldn't say no now that Jeff called her by her first name and she Transcended herself next to her father.
"That's my girl, let's go join Steph," Jeff said when Bayley came out of nowhere and smashed Beth shoulder first against the house and she slid down to the ground in a heap holding her sore arm.
"Come at me b***!" Bayley yelled at her and Jeff flew down to his daughter while Bayley flew back to the Shield on Seth's Prayer Shawl.
"Now that we've taken the Hardys out all we have to do is get rid of you now Stephanie McMahon," Dean Ambrose said rubbing his hands together as Stephanie looked at Bayley horrified at what she did to Beth.
"After everything I did for you, this is the thanks I get? We had a deal Bayley!" Stephanie said and she went to pull Bayley's hair but Seth tickled her again. "Damn it!" Stephanie said unable to launch a sustainable attack.
"This is pointless let's go find Charlotte and deal with her new crush by crushing it with our bare hands," Roman said when Renee Young appeared out of nowhere.
"What the Hell?" Dean Ambrose said as Renee held onto him terrified.
Seth looked down at Beth Hardy who was looking up at the sky, she mouthed the words "I'm sorry" and Seth realised that her father Jeff made her Transcend Renee from Los Angeles.
Dean held onto Renee but she was terrified, mostly because she didn't have any Shield gear on.
"Renee listen to me I need you to jump on my back and don't let go," Dean said to his wife.
"Okay," Renee said but Stephanie pulled her by her hair dragging her away from her husband and Renee screamed. "Let go of me!" Renee yelled elbowing Steph.
"Make one move and I'll drop her!" Stephanie said and Roman and Dean were trapped.
"Beth Transcend her back to LA!" Seth yelled to Beth who was an emotional wreck.
"No Seth she's gonna stay right there until you end this fight and get Stephanie's jewels back," Jeff Hardy said flying back up to the air.
Stephanie had Renee in a chokehold but Renee was trying to pull her hand from under her neck, "What is he talking about?" Renee asked Dean.
"You know those gems in Bianca Belair's hair? They belong to Stephanie McMahon," Dean said.
"No they don't they belong to the DX family and you are not getting them back Stephanie," Seth said and he looked down at Beth again. "Beth I'm not going to tell you again, Transcend Renee back to LA!"
"Don't bark orders at my daughter!" Jeff Hardy said and he slapped Seth around the face hard. "She's my daughter, not yours!"
Roman Speared Jeff through the air into a giant oak tree taking Jeff out of commission, the move activated Jeff's own Gift from God and all the wild forest animals advanced on Roman Reigns in Jeff's defense.
"Get him," Jeff said to the animals which included bears, hawks and wolves. "Rip him to shreds!"
Jeff passed out as the animals pounced on Roman. Seth saw the attack and he landed by Roman and as his feet touched the ground the animals backed off.
"Go in peace creatures of the forest," Seth said to them lovingly and they returned to the forest leaving Roman alone. "Come on Big Dog we got a lot of fighting left to do,"
"I think I'm bleeding internally," Roman said and Seth unzipped Roman's Shield vest and looked at his ribs where a giant bruise was appearing. Seth knew he had to do something quick.
"Stay here Roman I'll be right back," Seth said but Roman grabbed his arm as he went to leave to get help.
"No don't leave, all you do is leave just stay here with me," Roman said and Seth shook his head.
"Roman I have to get help and I can't do that sitting here and talking to you," Seth said.
"Do not leave me!" Roman cried and Seth sighed. He turned towards the Flair house where Beth Hardy was looking at him with tears in her eyes, hopefully if he yelled loud enough she would hear him.
"Beth, Transcend E S T!" he cried. "Do not disobey me!"
"Stop giving my daughter orders!" Jeff Hardy groaned holding onto his side and Seth rose up and put his foot on Jeff's neck.
"Okay!" Beth Hardy cried out not wanting Seth to Stomp her father's head off.
E S T appeared next to Roman and Seth smiled at Beth Hardy who nodded unable to hide her joy at doing the right thing in the end.
"Roman needs healing," Seth said to Bianca Belair showing her Roman's bruised ribs.
"I got this," E S T said as her healing lips activated and she leaned over and kissed Roman on the ribs instantly healing him. "Feel better?" she asked him dusting off her hands proudly.
"I sure do!" Roman said sitting up with a Big Dog smile, "I'm even a little turned on,"
Seth hugge and turned back to Beth, "Okay you can send her back now,"
"What?! But I just got here!" E S T protested but her protest was in vain as she returned to Los Angeles as quickly as she arrived.
"I can't risk you being turned on by anyone except your wife and you can see her after we're done," Seth said and he pulled Roman up to his feet and called for Shawl who was still carrying Dean and Bayley.
"I think your Prayer Shawl is carrying too much weight," Roman said.
"It's a prayer shawl Roman it only knows how to carry weight, it was built to support me when I'm doing spiritual warfare," Seth said.
"Isn't God supposed to have angels fighting this battle for you too? Where they at?" Roman Reigns said and Seth shrugged.
"I never asked this is the biggest spiritual battle I've ever fought," Seth replied and he prayed for God to despatch angel to Flair Country. "God asked me if I'm sure,"
Roman frowned at Seth, "I nearly bled to death, Jeff Hardy's passed out from a Spear and Stephanie McMahon has got Renee in a chokehold, you need angelic assistance right now!" Roman said.
"God said the angels are as big as the sky so I'm just gonna pray for one," Seth said and the sky cracked open and a huge wing appeared in the clouds.
Stephanie dropped Renee in fear but Shawl swooped down and caught her before she hit the ground.
"Hold on auntie Bayley!" Faith Star called running out of Ric Flair's house.
"Where have you been Faith Star?!" Bayley asked the Shield's youngest member.
"I was taking a nap but I'm all rested now, can you tell Shawl to swoop down and pick me up?" Faith Star said.
"This fight is a little too big for you Faith Star," Dean Ambrose said holding Renee who was trembling with fear.
"I don't know Uncle Dean I think your wife looks a little nervous, I think we should switch places," Faith Star said.
"I don't want my wife anywhere near that house," Dean Ambrose said.
"Shawl come get me please?" Faith Star said and the angel reached down and picked her up. "Nevermind I got a better ride!"
The angel put Faith Star in Renee's arms and LC and Cameron's baby girl brought the Canadian journalist much needed comfort.
"You brought a baby into this war?" Stephanie said appalled, "Does Hunter know his granddaughter is up here in the middle of a fight?"
"She insisted on coming, I guess she knew my wife was going to need to have faith to get through the day after your step-daughter Transcended her," Dean Ambrose said to Stephanie fiercely.
"Faith Star you cannot be here right now," Stephanie said as the angel brought Seth and Roman over to Dean, Renee and Bayley.
"She's right where she ought to be, you can't win a fight without faith," Seth Rollins said.
"And you can't take what doesn't belong to you either Seth, you all need to go get my jewels!" Stephanie said.
"Are you talking about the gems in Bianca's hair?" Renee asked.
"Those aren't yours, they're mine," Faith Star said proudly.
"They belong to the DX family, aren't you a Hardy now?" Renee said. "Wow you really are in love with Hunter aren't you? The only reason you want those jewels back is because they remind you of when DX were the most precious thing in your life. Quit living in the past Jeff and Beth are awesome, why don't you focus on them instead of messing with your past?"
Stephanie looked the Shield up and down with scorn, "You're talking to me about living in the past, the Shield is a lost idea and here you are all dressed up in your gear like anyone gives a damn about your brotherhood. You're nothing but a bunch of fanboys and fangirls, when are you guys gonna get real? This is my business and you are just living in it, wake up and join the winning side. Getting my jewels back would be a good start," Stephanie said.
"So you're okay stealing from Faith Star, Aurora, LC and Carla? Don't those girls mean anything to you?" Seth asked Steph.
"Stay out of this Seth, you need to get those gems outta your newest flirtation's hair and back in my hands where they belong!" Stephanie said and Seth shook his head.
"If you want the jewels so badly why don't you get them from her yourself?" Seth asked Stephanie simply. "Or are you too much of a coward to fac one-on-one?"
Stephanie gulped, "That is one fight I do not wanna have," she said fearfully. "Fortunately for me I've already found someone who is not afraid to snatch the braid right out of that muscle head's skull,"
"You'd be better off ending this fight now because you ain't never getting those jewels back," Seth said confidently.
"There's not one battle I haven't won, your new God girl's going down Seth. E S T will be defeated but not by me, by the one she loves. Now if you'll excuse me I have a husband and stepdaughter to take care of," Stephanie said and she looked at Bayley. "Love the new look Bayls, I hope it gets you closer to that thing you want the most,"
"If you're talking about real friendship then I hope you're right, that's something I never got from spending time with you," Bayley said.
"Don't worry Seth, she'll be pulling that vest off in no time and you'll remember how hot she looks underneath it all," Stephanie said pinching Bayley's cheek. "Call me when you get those gems back,"
"I'm not helping you anymore!" Bayley declared as Stephanie descended from the air to check on Jeff Hardy. Seth watched as she knelt by her husband's side and Beth Hardy remained by Ric Flair's front door. She didn't go to her father's side and that left Seth with a dilemma. He asked God for wisdom concerning Beth Hardy. "Father, do I take her under my wing or do I leave her with her demented parents?" he asked God.
The only people I left my Son with were Mary and Joesph, I don't think Jeff and Steph measure up to that high standard. Go get her, God replied.
"Could you ask the angel to go get her? I don't really feel like breaking up a family right now," Seth said and the angel extended its wing to Beth Hardy and she allowed the angel to bring her over to the airborne Shield.
"Welcome to the family," Seth said to her and Beth looked down at her dad and stepmom.
"This is going to be trouble," Beth Hardy said and she kissed Seth and hugged him. "I know this is the right thing, I can't live with those monsters anymore,"
"Seth I don't know about this," Bayley said knowing Steph and Jeff were going to freak out if they found out Beth was with Seth now. "If Steph and Jeff find out you turned Beth against them they'll come at you with a vengeance,"
"If you're scared Bayley you ain't got no business being up here with us," Seth said. "This is a war now you need to pick a side, either stay up here with me or go down there with them. The choice is yours,"
Bayley nodded and she put a firm hand on Seth's shoulder, "Seth Rollins, I choose you!" she declared and Seth smiled.
"That's my girl," he said proudly and Renee gave Bayley a dark look.
"What's wrong pretty lady?" Faith Star asked Renee, the one person in the group she didn't know.
"Remember how Judas betrayed Jesus?" Renee said.
"Yeah, I mean I wasn't there in person but I read about it in my baby Bible," Faith Star said. "What does that have to do with the way you're looking at auntie Bayley?"
"I don't trust auntie Bayley," Renee replied.
"Have faith pretty blond lady, you'd be amazed at what can happen when you believe that people can change. I need changing all the time," Faith Star said and Renee rocked Faith Star back and forth. Dean Ambrose looked on observing his wife's interaction with Faith Star.
"I think it's time we had a baby of our own," Dean Ambrose said.
"I think it's time we went home this is the worst weekend of my life," Renee replied before kissing Faith Star. "I guess there is one good thing that happened to me today,"
"Sorry Renee but we ain't going home until we see Charlotte and Montez, I can't go back to LA until I let those two know how much trouble they're about to be in with God," Seth said and Bayley was still hugging him.
"Alright that's enough," Roman said pulling Bayley off of Seth.
"He just smells so good, like champagne and gold truffles," Bayley said and she realised she had complimented Seth, "I mean when was the last time you showered?" she said screwing up her nose.
"I showered this morning with my wife. I was naked in the shower...with my wife," he said fondly then he shook it off. "Come on guys focus now let's go get Charlotte and Montez, Beth you can go to LA with Renee and Faith Star. I think those two need to spend the rest of the day in a much more peaceful place,"
Beth hugged Seth and Transcended Renee, Faith Star and herself to the Rock's house in LA leaving the Shield with Bayley to finish the fight they started.
"Bayley you take Charlotte, we'll deal with Montez Ford," Seth said.
"Can't I take out Ric Flair? He's a dream opponent of mine," Bayley replied.
"I think Ric would like that too much, you take the Queen," Seth said and they entered Flair's house to see where they were hiding.
As the angel and the prayer shawl hovered outside they kept an angry Steph and Jeff Hardy from getting in allowing the Shield to deal with Charlotte and Montez uninterrupted.
They found the Flairs sitting around the dinner table like nothing horrible had happened and the Street Profits were playing online video games again.
"Are you done making all that noise outside?" Ric Flair asked the Shield and Charlotte patted the table seat next to her.
"Come sit down and join us, I think we all need to talk about what happened in Orlando between me and Bianca's husband," Charlotte said and she was very calm, too calm for the Shield.
Seth looked over at Montez and Angelo, it was like they were back at home. The truth was ever since Charlotte Flair approached them they felt right at home in Flair Country. It broke his heart to see Montez so chill when Bianca's heart was breaking. Roman and Dean had a much less subtle take on the situation and they powerbombed the Flair's television set causing Montez and Angelo to jump back.
"Arghh!" Montez cried out as Angelo got to his feet angrily.
"What the Hell is your problem Roman? We were ten seconds away from whoopin Kofi's ass in 2k NBA!" Angelo said.
"New Day sucks!" Montez said.
"Not as half as you do, why you messing with Charlotte Flair?" Roman Reigns said.
"What did you just say?" Montez said like he was hard of hearing.
"I said why are you messing with Charlotte Flair?" Roman Reigns repeated.
"You hear that Angelo? I'm messing with Charlotte Flair," Montez said giggling and Roman and Dean looked at each other confused.
"Is this a joke or is he serious right now?" Dean asked Seth who clasped his hands and waited for Montez to explain himself.
"Your wife saw a video of Charlotte Flair with you wrapped up in your bed sheets behind her and she's been threatening that she's gonna steal you from right under her nose. Is this news to you Montez or have you been playing video games throughout all of this drama?" Seth asked Montez.
"Yes Seth I have been playing, this whole thing is a game and we're all playing it, including my wife," Montez said and Seth sighed.
"What are you talking about Montez?" Seth said.
"Ask my wife she'll tell you if you ask her nicely enough, now if you don't mind Angelo and I have to go and find another room to whoop Kofi's butt in – and I don't mean that literally," Montez said and the Street Profits left leaving the Shield with no choice but to apply brute force to a chaotic situation. Roman planted Montez face first onto the Flair's table while Dean Ambrose taunted him.
"Stop messing with Charlotte Flair!" Dean Ambrose warned him and the grip of Charlotte Flair's fingers pinched Dean's neck and she threw him down to the floor violently.
"Don't you dare put your hands on my future husband," Charlotte Flair said and she kicked Dean Ambrose aggressively.
"Where's Bayley?" Roman asked Seth and the Prayer Warrior saw Bayley sneaking up behind Ric Flair.
"Leave Ric alone Bayley I told you to handle Charlotte," Seth said and Bayley jumped on Charlotte back.
"You can't attack me in my own house!" Charlotte said shaking Bayley off her like a rag doll.
"Leave Montez alone!" Bayley yelled.
"You mean the way you leave Seth alone? At least Montez likes me back!" Charlotte said and she flipped Bayley onto her back. "Everybody sit down or I'm going to call the police,"
"Can we get arrested for trying to break up an act of adultery?" Roman asked Seth.
"Well technically we haven't done anything – yet," Charlotte said flirtatiously stroking Montez's head. "I'm just making my intentions known and we'll see how things go from there. If Bianca truly loves her husband she'll move Heaven and Earth to get him back. All Bianca's done so far is move in with you and Sasha, doesn't sound like she's too upset about me going after the most beautiful man in pro wrestling,"
"Excuse me?" Roman Reigns said offended. "I have never looked hotter. How dare you think I'm not the hottest dude in this room right now?"
"Bayley it's alright you don't have to vote for me," Seth said as Bayley put her hand up to say that Seth was the hottest man in the room right now.
"Every vote counts Seth," Bayley said. "and I vote for you to knock the living crap out of Montez Ford for trying to demote you as the hottest guy in the room,"
"I am the hottest guy in the room unless I'm sharing that room with my wife then I'm just Mr Bianca Belair," Ford said and Seth shook his head. He didn't even want her name to come out of his mouth.
"She's not even here are you really going to trash her behind her back? What kind of a man are you?" Seth asked Montez.
"I'm the kind of man who doesn't want to walk in his wife's shadow. I'm the kind of man who wants to be appreciated for the super hot guy I am and when I walk into a room, I don't want people asking where my wife is all the time," Montez said. "I want people to see me first!"
"And see you they will," Charlotte Flair said. "One night with me will change your career forever, is your marriage really worth more than that?"
"Yes it is!" the Shield said at the same-time.
"No it isn't, fight for me Monty. I'll do more for your career than your wife ever could," Flair said. "plus I'm single and lonely and I don't wanna go to bed alone anymore,"
Roman went to grab Montez again but he slipped behind Ric Flair.
"You wouldn't hurt Ric Flair in Ric Flair Country would you Roman?" Montez asked Roman Reigns and Seth realised that Montez was a heel, that's a bad guy that everybody hates and he was playing a role.
"Let's go boys we're done here," Seth said.
"What?" Dean Ambrose said. "We're not done here,"
"Yes we are let's go back to LA and leave the Flairs alone in peace," Seth said and Roman, Dean and Bayley headed towards the door slowly while Seth looked over at Montez earnestly.
"I know you think this is all a game and you're playing the role of a guy messing with another woman behind his wife's back, you just need to know one thing and that's Flairs play to win, they never lose and this will not end until Charlotte gets exactly what she wants. She really, really wants you, remember that the next time you trash your wife in public," Seth said and he turned and left with the Shield leaving Montez wondering just what people were really thinking was going on with him and Charlotte Flair.
"Man Seth sure sounded serious, doesn't he know this is all a work? Why hasn't Bianca smartened him up yet?" Angelo Dawkins wondered.
"I don't know but she better smarten him up soon or I will, I can't have anyone thinking my marriage is really in trouble," Montez said and Charlotte nodded. She didn't have the nerve to tell him that his marriage really was in trouble and she squeezed his arm.
"Don't we make a beautiful couple?" Charlotte Flair said warmly.
"A beautiful fictional couple," Montez added and he kissed Charlotte on the cheek.
"Let's all have dinner," Ric Flair said and the Flairs and the Street Profits sat around the table and enjoyed a real good dinner pretending to be a really happy family, at least three of them were pretending. Charlotte Flair had never been more in love.
