What's a Date?
AN: (One of my friends suggested listening to the Benny Hill theme while reading the bit with Farrah chasing Sanjay last chapter and I thought I'd pass it on to y'all)
Another Shadowwolf1997 request. Also, heads up, if y'all have requests, feel free to PM me. Please. However, please note, though that I do have some guidelines:
-I don't take requests for full-length chapter stories like "Born of End Darkness and Celestial Light," "Obsessed," or "The 25th Grand Magic Games," because those stories take a long time to plan, and outline, and write, and if I took a bunch of those types of requests I'd never get through them all.
-I don't take Mature or X-rated requests. As y'all have seen I will hint at certain martial relationships happening, but I don't write lemons. Just my personal choice, not hating on anyone who does, but that's not my scene.
-I don't take requests for OC's. Of course, when you guys say you want another baby for one of the couples I'll listen, but I don't take requests that specify an exact name, an exact age, an exact back story, etc. etc. Coming up with original characters is something I enjoy doing on my own. If I have someone telling me exactly what to do it kind of takes the fun out of it for me. Also, if you have that much figured out for an OC write the story yourself! Have fun with it! Take a risk! You'll never know if you're a good writer if you don't try.
Anyways, moving on with this one-shot.
Isla was confused. Her little brow furrowed as she sat at her table, kicking her feet beneath her, her doll in her lap. Farrah and Benedict were acting weird. Really weird.
Before they acted like all the other kids acted. Playing around, being goofy, just normal kid stuff. But now when they were together they acted more like a Mommy and Daddy than kids.
But they weren't a Mommy and Daddy. They were just kids like she and the others.
So why were they acting funny?
The question plagued her until she made it home that night and was sitting in her room scribbling in her coloring book. She filled up one page and then turned to find another picture to color.
She gasped as she found a picture of a prince and princess getting married. Was that it? Had Benedict and Farrah gotten married? Was that why they were acting funny? Why had she not been invited to the wedding if that were so?
Standing to her feet she scampered out of her room and into the living room where her mother was listening to the radio as she tidied up the coffee table. Isla could hear her father cleaning the kitchen as she walked to her mother's side.
"Mommy?"
"Yes, baby?" Wendy asked.
"Did Farrah and Benedict get married?"
Wendy giggled. "No, sweetie, they're too young for that."
"But they're acting funny," Isla said. "They act like a Mommy and Daddy, but they're just big kids."
"Acting funny, how?"
"They're all kissy, and huggy, and they make those big eyes like you and Daddy do when you see each other."
Wendy smiled softly. "That's because they're dating."
"What's that mean?" Isla asked.
"Well, when two people think they might be in love, but aren't ready to get married, they'll date so they can get to know each other better."
"Oh," Isla nodded. "So they aren't ready to get married yet, but they'll get married later."
"Maybe," Wendy said. "We'll have to wait and see what happens."
"What do you do when you're dating?" Isla asked.
"You go on dates, of course, silly."
"What's a date?"
"It's when two people who are dating go to do something nice to learn more about each other. They'll usually go out to eat, or go see a show, or go on a walk."
"Did you and Daddy go on dates before you were married?" Isla asked.
"We sure did."
"What was it like?"
Wendy smiled softly at the memories as she sat down on the couch. Isla climbed up and sat in her mother's lap.
"Well, there was our first date…"

"She's just so cute!" Wendy cooed as she sat next to Lucy, a three week Nashi tucked into her arms. Nashi gazed up at Wendy with giant brown eyes that looked just like her Lucy's and cooed. Wendy's smile widened.
"Hi, Nashi, it's your Auntie Wendy," she crooned as she rocked the baby. Nashi giggled as she played with the edges of her blanket, smiling at her auntie.
The door of the guild hall opened as Natsu and Romeo returned from a picture.
"Top of the morning!" Natsu announced, setting his bag down.
Nashi quickly turned her head at the sound of her father's voice and began to whimper.
"Uh-oh, she heard Daddy," Lucy sighed.
Natsu grinned as he bounded to his whining daughter and gently took her from Wendy.
"Hi there, baby," he whispered and he gently bounced her. Nashi stopped crying and smiled up at her father, reaching up to him with her tiny hands. Wendy smiled at the sight.
Natsu was a dad. That goofy, thick-headed teenage boy she met all those years ago was a father. He'd grown up. So had Lucy. So had she. They had all grown up.
It all made her think of her own life. She'd just stepped into womanhood. Her life had truly begun. But…
...what was ahead of her? What adventures was she about to embark on as an adult.
"Hey...um...Wendy?"
Wendy turned to find Romeo standing next to her. "Hi, Romeo."
"Oh, yeah, uh, hi. Weny, hi, it's, uh, nice to see you. Uh...hi."
"Hi?" Wendy arched an eyebrow, confused at his strange behavior.
"So, um…" Romeo rubbed at his neck again, rocking back and forth on his heels. "So, there's this, uh, festival going on in the park tonight…"
"Yeah, I heard about it," Wendy nodded. "Lots of local craftsmen are going to sell their wares there."
"Yeah, right, and uh...I thought...maybe, I don't know? You think you'd want to go?" Romeo asked shyly.
"Sure. It sounds like fun, and I'd like to see what everyone's made," Wendy said.
"Yeah?" Romeo tugged at his scarf. "You think so?"
"Yes…" Wendy's eyes narrowed, curious and slightly confused.
"You think you'd want to go with me?" Romeo asked.
"Oh!" Wendy gasped, surprised.
"Y'know? Go with me? Just...just me? Maybe?" Romeo's voice kept getting higher and higher the more he talked.
"Romeo, are you asking me on a date?" Wendy asked.
"Uh...yes…" Romeo's face turned red. "Yes, I am. Do...do you want to go on a date with me? Please?"
Wendy's widened and she giggled. "Yes."
"R-really?" Romeo's eyes brightened as a smile appeared on his face. "Really? Wow, okay. Yeah. Great! Thanks."
Wendy giggled again. "So, do you want me to meet you at the park, or do you want to pick me up?"
"I'll pick you up," Romeo said. "Uh...6:30 sound good?"
"Yeah, sounds good to me," Wendy smiled.
"Okay, great, so I'll see you then?" Romeo asked.
"Yeah, see you then," Wendy answered as she stood to her feet. "I'm going to go get ready!"
"But...it's just now 1:00…" Romeo said as Wendy skipped out of the guild hall.
"Oh, let her have fun," Lucy called from where she was still sitting. "She's excited for your first date."
"You think?" Romeo asked, eyes brightening.
"I know," Lucy winked at him.
"Yeah, way to go, pal!" Natsu cheered, fist pumping as best as he could with his infant daughter in his arms.

Wendy applied a pink gloss to her lips, smacking her lips as she stared at herself in the mirror. She tucked her hair behind her ears and then adjusted the necklace around her neck. She took a step back and examined herself, gazing down at her floral sundress and leather sandal heels.
Was she dressed well enough?
Overdressed?
Should she change?
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Wendy jumped at the sound of someone knocking on her door. Well, it was too late for her to make any changes to her outfit now. She smoothed down her hair one last time then went to answer the door.
Romeo was waiting on the other side of it, dressed in a white button-up shirt and black pants, on hand hidden behind his back. His eyes widened when he saw her.
"Oh, wow, you look nice," he said.
"You think?" Wendy asked, blushing slightly as she pushed her hair behind her ear.
"Yeah!" Romeo smiled. "Oh, right, almost forgot."
He pulled his hand out from behind his back, holding out a bouquet of blue, pink, white, and yellow daisies.
"These are for you."
"Aw, they're so pretty, thank you," Wendy smiled as she took the bouquet from him and smelled the flowers. She slipped back inside to set them in a vase on her table before skipping back to Romeo's side.
"Alright, let's go!" she cheered, taking Romeo by the arm.
"Okay," Romeo smiled, blushing slightly about the fact that Wendy was holding his arm as he led her towards the park. The sun was just beginning to set by the time they arrived. Strings of lanterns hung all across the park, lighting Wendy and Romeo's way as they walked through it. Wendy gasped as she stared at the shining lights, the decorated booths, the numerous people walking back and forth and smiling.
"Wow!" she breathed.
"See anything you want to check out?" Romeo asked.
"Um…" Wendy looked about. She quickly noticed a booth where an older woman was weaving girls' hair into elaborate braids. Romeo followed her gaze and smiled.
"You wanna try that?"
"Oh, um, maybe?" Wendy blushed.
"Well, c'mon, let's go," Romeo said, taking her hand and leading her towards the booth.
"Which would you like?" the lady asked as Wendy took her seat.
Wendy looked through the pictures of braids before pointing to one that looked like a rose on the back of a girls' head. "Can I have this one, please?"
"Of course," the woman said as she began braiding Wendy's hair. Romeo whispered to Wendy that he'd be right back. She nodded at him and then sat patiently as she waited for her hair to be done.
It only took a short while for the woman to finish the do.
"How's that?" she asked, holding the mirror up for Wendy to see.
"Oh, wow, that's really pretty, thank you!" Wendy smiled.
"Hey, Wendy ," Romeo called as he returned, with two cones of cotton candy. Wendy smiled as he passed one to her.
"Aw, thank you," she smiled as she took the cotton candy, stood to her feet, and slipped her hand into his arm again.
"You're welcome," Romeo smiled.
The two began walking through the festival again, Wendy skipping happily and gnawing on her cotton candy. Romeo couldn't help but smile at her. She was just so cute!
After a bit of wandering they stumbled across a live pottery class.
"You think we could do that?" Wendy asked.
"We might end up with a blob instead of a bowl," Romeo warned.
"It would still be fun, though," Wendy said.
"Alright, if you want to," Romeo shrugged.
The two made their way to the tent to take their seat. Literally. One seat. All the other spots were already filled by the time they made it.
"Uh…" Wendy mumbled.
"Here," Romeo said, sitting down and then gently guiding Wendy into his lap.
"Oh," Wendy said, blushing. She was sitting in Romeo's lap!
"Is this okay?" Romeo asked.
"Yeah, it's fine," Wendy answered as the lesson began.
It went well at first, Wendy able to mold the clay with a fair amount of ease, while Romeo just constantly watched her. Giggling at the cute way her brow furrowed in concentration, the way her nose scrunched up. He leaned forward, setting his chin on Wendy's shoulder and setting his hands on her arms.
Wendy jumped slightly, her face heating up. He was so close! His hands were so gentle. And he smelled good. Was he wearing cologne?
As Wendy got distracted, she lost control of the pottery wheel and splattered clay onto herself and Romeo.
"Oh, sorry!" she cried.
Romeo just laughed. "It's fine. It was kinda my fault, anyway."
Wendy still blushed. "Can we maybe go somewhere else?"
"Sure," Romeo said, frowning in worry as he stood to his feet and led Wendy away.
"Are you okay?" he asked once they left the pottery tent.
"Yeah, just a little embarrassed," Wendy said, wiping a bit of clay off her face.
"I'm sorry," Romeo said. "I didn't mean to mess it up."
"I know, it's okay," Wendy replied shyly.
Romeo frowned, trying to think of a way to make things up to her as he looked about. He saw the park fountain just a few steps away. He smiled, took off running, and jumped into the fountain.
"Romeo!" Wendy gasped as she raced to where he was climbing, sputtering out of the fountain. "What did you do that for?"
"There," Romeo coughed. "Now you don't have to be embarrassed anymore."
Wendy just stared at him. Then blinked. And then laughed.
"Oh, my goodness! You're such a goofball!"
"Yeah," Romeo chuckled. "Did it help, though?"
"Yeah," Wendy smiled. "It did."
IIIIIIIIIIIIIII
"And what else did you do?" Isla asked, still seated in her mother's lap.
"We just walked around a little bit more, you're Daddy bought me a necklace, then he walked me home and we said goodnight," Wendy answered.
"Did you kiss?" Isla asked.
"No, not that night," Wendy said.
"But you kissed on the next date?"
"No, I think it was our fifth date before we kissed."
"Oh," Isla nodded.
"And then five years later, we got married," Wendy continued, causing Isla to smile. "And four years after that our little girl, Isla was born."
"And now I'm five years old!" Isla cheered.
"That's right," Wendy smiled.
"So it's time for me to have a little brother or sister, right?" Isla asked.
"Oh!" Wendy gasped. "Well, I don't know about that."
The clock down the hallway struck eight.
Wendy smiled as she stood, Isla in her arms. "But I know it's time for our little Isla to go to bed now."
"Aw," Isla whined. Still, she let Wendy carry her to her room, tuck her in, and kissed her forehead.
"Good night, Isla."
"Good night, Mommy," Isla yawned as Wendy tiptoed out of the bedroom and closed the door. She began to make her way back to the livingroom to finish cleaning up the coffee table, but someone caught her wrist.
"Wait, wait, c'mere," Romeo said, pulling his wife towards him.
"What?" Wendy asked as Romeo wrapped his arms around her waist.
"What? It's been a while since I've gotten to hug you, that's what," he replied.
Wendy smiled and wrapped her arms around him, laying her head on his chest.
"So?" Romeo asked. "Isla wants a little brother or sister?"
"Oh...I guess you heard that…" Wendy said.
"Yeah, I did," Romeo answered. "So…"
"So…?"
"How about it?"
Wendy nibbled on her lip as she thought. "Well...I guess it is about time, isn't it? I mean, she's five now. She can feed, clothe, go to the bathroom on her own. But she's still young enough that they would be able to get along well."
"So...you're saying you want another one?" Romeo asked, a wide smile on his face.
Wendy smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I am."
"Alright!" Romeo cheered before throwing Wendy over his shoulder.
"Romeo, what are you doing?" Wendy asked.
"We are going to make a baby!" Romeo answered as he carried Wendy to their bedroom and closed the door.
