Chapter Fifteen – Diamond in the Sky

South Central LA, Los Angeles, CA, 12am

Charlotte tied with Montez after running down the hill through Compton crashing into a red thunderbird. As they caught their breath Charlotte raised her hand in victory.

"I beat you!" she said to Montez who disputed her victory and took her hand out of the air.

"No we tied you did not beat me," Montez said and the thunderbird headlights suddenly came on. Charlotte looked down at the car as they backed up from the lights.

"I wonder whose car this is?" she asked Montez and the car's owner emerged from his house and he was not happy. In fact he was so not happy he had a gun in his hand.

"That's my car blondie and I suggest you get on outta here unless I repaint it with your blood," the man said pointing the gun at Charlotte. Montez stood in front of her to protect her but Charlotte didn't like that at all and she put herself back in harm's way.

"No Charlotte get back you're a target out here," Montez said getting back in front of her.

"Why because I'm white?" Charlotte asked offended.

Montez didn't have to answer because barrelling down the hill like a braided flash came Bianca Belair. She saw the gun man and whipped the weapon out of his hand with her braid.

"I dare you to point that gun at me," E S T warned him and Montez ran over to his wife.

"I'm sure this has all been a misunderstanding, we didn't mean to touch your car sir. If we can all calm down and you go back inside we can all leave in peace," Montez said and the man went to pick up his gun bu got to it first.

The gun man looked at her like she was crazy. "Were you really gonna shoot Ric Flair's daughter?" Belair asked the man.

"Ric Flair, the 16 time world champion Ric Flair?!" the man asked looking over at Charlotte who was waiting by the car by herself. She was so offended that she was a target of hate because of the colour of her skin that the last thing she wanted was to go home in peace. "I had no idea!"

The man came out of his house now a smile on his face and he headed towards Charlotte while Belair kept his gun under her foot.

Montez hugged his wife passionately, "Thank God you came after us Bianca, that could have gotten real ugly, real quick. He was going to shoot Char-Char,"

Bianca waved off the temptation to tell her husband that she wanted to shoot Charlotte too but for a completely different reason.

"I know that's why I came after you guys. This is not the safest place in the world for an inter-racial couple," Bianca replied but her husband corrected her.

"You mean a fake inter-racial couple," he reminded his wife.

"Yeah but he don't know that ya'll are pretending to be a couple, all he knew is there was a pretty white lady standing in front of his car with a handsome black man. That makes you target zero for racists, that's the ugly world we live in babe," Belair said.

"Charlotte Flair is Ric Flair's daughter we have got to school her on race relations, this cannot happen again or we could all get in trouble. Looks like my idea for you guys to spend more time together was a good one right babe?" Montez said to his wife and Belair nodded despite her stomach being sick with despair over her husband's impending adultery.

"That's right babe I need to spend more time with the woman I hate more than death," Bianca replied darkly and Montez laughed at her choice of words.

"That's just for the storyline babe, if we were getting to know Charlotte when we were engaged I have no doubt that she'd be your maid of honor at our wedding," Montez said and Bianca choked on her laughter at her husband's comment.

"Wow, I gotta tell Seth how funny you are," Bianca said stepping off the racist man's stoop to look for Seth who was sailing through the sky on his prayer shawl about to descend. She waved at him and he came over to the racist man's house while Charlotte signed an autograph for him by his thunderbird.

"Hey guys sorry I'm late I got caught up talking to Alexa about something Bayley wrote in her diary. How are my two favourite lovebirds doing?" Seth asked Bianca and Montez.

Montez grabbed his wife and squeezed her lovingly, "We're doing great Seth, my wife just saved Charlotte from an inter-racial hate crime,"

"Now the man's getting Charlotte's autograph," Bianca said nodding to the gun under her foot and Seth grimaced at the sight of deadly weapon. "The only reason he didn't try to shoot her again besides me getting here and threatening him is because he found out she's Ric Flair's daughter. Could you imagine what could have happened if she was just a regular white person? What kind of sick world do we live in Seth?"

Seth took up the gun and prayed. Seconds later it disintegrated into tiny little particles of dust.

"The world is a better place because you're in it E S T. You put your personal feelings aside and you chose to do the right thing and protect one of God's children. She's hurt you so much and she will continue to hurt you and yet you still saved her life. You're right she could have died tonight because she was seen with a man a different colour from hers but she didn't because of your integrity. I'm so proud of yo you are more than fit to be my Treasurer," Seth commended Bianca who in-spite of how bad she was feeling on the inside couldn't help but smile as Seth did what only he could do when she was feeling blue.

"Thanks Seth," she said earnestly with a smile.

"That's some wife I got right Seth? I told Bianca she should spend more time with Charlotte and look at how it turned out? Charlotte's not dead and I'm still happily married, we all win!" Montez said and he kissed his wife lovingly while Seth flew over to Charlotte who was now having an in-depth conversation with the racist man in his thunderbird.

"So you think that meeting me in person has changed the way you feel about inter-racial couples?" Charlotte asked the man as Seth took a seat in the back.

"They're not a real couple," Seth stated firmly. "They're just pretending to be one on TV,"

"Who are you, her real boyfriend?" the man asked Seth who shook his head.

"Would you feel better if he was?" Charlotte asked the man who nodded.

"Actually I would; I'm a racist darlin' I don't believe in inter-racial relationships. I believe that white should be with white and black should be with black, that's the natural order so why mess with it?" the man replied.

Charlotte got emotional not just because the man she was talking to was a legit racist but because of her very real feelings about Montez Ford.

"Sometimes you gotta mess with it, the colour of someone's skin could be the very thing you find attractive about them. I remember the first time I saw Monty I thought wow Bianca's husband is gorgeous. Then as I got to know him I realised that there was even more to like about him. If I had just dismissed my feelings because of his skin colour, then I would never have gotten to know what a truly amazing and talented human being he really is. God didn't give us racial backgrounds to keep us apart from each other, he gave us racial backgrounds so we could cross them. It doesn't make me any less of a person if I find a black man more attractive than a white man and it pains me that you would accept me being in a relationship with Seth Rollins over Montez Ford just because our skins look alike," Charlotte said and Seth decided to chime in to protect Bianca's reputation.

"I must stress again that Charlotte and Montez are not a real couple but I agree completely with what Charlotte said. My wife is from a different racial background and if she was with Montez instead of me you probably wouldn't have a problem with that would you?" Seth asked the man who nodded.

"Get out of my car," he said to Seth who hopped out and opened the door for Charlotte to get out too.

"Can I pray for you before we go? I think you should find out for yourself how God feels about your racist attitude, what do you say you give Jesus a chance to weigh in on your belief system?" Seth asked the man whose face hardened at Seth and Charlotte.

"You see those two people kissing on my doorstep?" the man said pointing at Bianca and Montez. "That's a couple I can accept; two people from the same background totally in love. Now if you two don't get out of here right now I'm going to run you both over with my car,"

The man's hatred for Seth and Charlotte was chilling but Seth just felt sorry for him, Charlotte was far more upset about the incident and she let her feelings show.

"This isn't your car anymore Sir, its mine," she said.

"What are you talking about blondie, this is my car. My father gave it to me when I was sixteen years old," the man replied proudly.

"I own it now," Charlotte said and she drug the man out of the car and got in his face. "I want this car because you tried to kill me and if you don't give it to me I'm going to tell the whole world what happened here tonight. This car will be destroyed before your next birthday after the media and wrestling fans get a-hold of you, now give me the car keys!"

"You want my car so you can drive your n word friends around in it?" the man said to Charlotte.

"I don't have any n word friends, my friends have real names and they have put up with way too much s*** from people like you for way too long. You don't deserve to drive this thunderbird so give it to the woman who actually deserves respect in this town!" Charlotte said forcefully.

"I'm not giving you a damn thing you blond piece of trash," the racist man said to Charlotte and she had heard enough. She locked him in the figure 8 until he cried out in pain. "Okay-okay, you can have my car. Let go! Let go!"

Eventually Charlotte let go and he gave her his car keys.

"Get in guys!" Charlotte called to Bianca and Montez who eyed the man now grabbing his ankle with pity. They got into the thunderbird but Charlotte told them to take the front seats, "You guys sit in the front that's where you deserve to sit, Seth and I will sit in the back,"

"Wow Charlotte I appreciate the civil rights call back but we don't want you guys to sit behind us.
The guys can sit in the back we'll fit right in the front," Bianca said and Charlotte nodded.

"You got it sister," she said to Bianca with a smile even though she had been nothing like a sister to Bianca recently. "You sit with the greatest Women's Champion of all time,"

"I'm the greatest Women's Champion of all time now Charlotte," Bianca objected and Charlotte handed her the car keys.

"You might be the greatEST friend of all time but you are not the greatEST Women's Champion of all time E S T," Charlotte said confidently.

"Yes I am and I'll prove it to you at the next pay-per-view!" Bianca said and Montez rubbed his hands together excitedly as his wife pulled out leaving the racist man clutching his ankle in pain and humiliation.

"I love this rivalry don't you?" Montez asked Seth who was smoothing out his prayer shawl thoughtfully.

"I like the rivalry but I love this car," Seth replied admiring the thunderbird.

"I want you to have this car Bianca as a token of our friendship and our commitment to civil rights. I know that if I ever fell in love with a black man you'd support me so you deserve to drive a car like this, not that piece of crap from South Central LA," Charlotte said and Bianca felt it hard to breathe.

"Is there a black man you have in mind?" Belair asked her knowing the answer to that question but her husband was still completely oblivious to Charlotte's unseemly intentions towards him.

"I wanna know who this dude is, he can't be as gorgeous as me!" Montez said and Charlotte felt her heart flutter admiring Montez's good looks while Bianca felt her stomach flutter with nerves. If there was ever a time for her to sit in the back it was now because she needed Seth's support as her marriage was about to crumble right before her eyes.

Charlotte pulled up in front of Rocky's house and Seth and Montez got out. "You can drive the car back after I go to my hotel," she said to Belair who didn't know where to put her head; it was full of so many emotions. Eventually she replied to Charlotte's words.

"Let's get you back to your father," she said to Charlotte observing her hair, "Maybe he can tell me where he got those diamonds you got weaved into your hair,"

"My father knows a thing or two about diamonds," Charlotte said and she waved at Montez and Seth, "I know a thing or two about diamonds myself and I think I found one I'd like to share my life with,"

Bianca gulped, "Let's go," she said and Seth prayed for her to be strong. It was imperative that she not let what she knew about Charlotte and her husband out of the bag, not until God gave Seth a strategy to find out what was going on between Stephanie and the Flairs. Montez knew something that Seth didn't and maybe when he found out what that something was, it would give him enough ammunition to go to war against Stephanie and Charlotte and possibly save Belair's marriage. It was the most troubled marriage he knew about and if he could save it he would. What Seth didn't know was that there was another marriage in trouble and he was a lot closer to it than he realised.
