"Mondays suck."
That was always the first thought in Adam's head everytime he woke up on a Monday morning. It didn't matter that the day still hadn't done anything wrong. It still sucked. It always sucked. It would continue to suck each week.
The thought popped up several times during a Monday. He knew he wasn't helping by never giving Mondays a decent go. They sucked and no one could convince him otherwise. He just had to get through the day to get to Tuesday that always seemed to be alright.
He tried making Mondays more tolerable by doing things he liked. It never worked because the thought of how much they sucked continued being there. Still he tried. He wanted Mondays to become good. That was why he sat in his favorite coffee shop this Monday, trying to enjoy his favorite coffee beverage. He kept looking around to see if anyone would smile at him but everyone seemed busy doing their own thing.
"Mondays fucking suck. You knew this would happen. You knew nothing would change."
"Is this seat taken?" A woman asked.
He looked up and saw a beautiful woman smile at him. Her auburn brown hair was put up in a messy bun on top of her. A few strands had made their escape and made the hairstyle look even more messy. It was a cute look on her. She was wearing a pair of light blue denim shorts and a white, lace crop top. Her baby blue eyes looked straight into his while she waited for an answer.
"No, please, sit down," he said.
He smiled back at her while she sat down. A smile that didn't feel forced at all.
"Maybe this Monday won't suck as much as the others."
She took a sip of her iced coffee and let out a humming sound of satisfaction. Clearly she enjoyed the taste.
"That good?" He asked.
"The best," she answered. "This is by far the best coffee shop in town."
"I agree," he said.
There was something about her that made him not able to take his eyes off her. He wanted to sit there and talk to her all day if she would let him. He still couldn't wipe the smile off his face. It stayed because of her.
"Mondays don't suck. I like this Monday."
He had to take the chance. He knew it would seem crazy to ask her out but he had to get to know her.
"I'm Adam," he said.
"I'm Evette," she said.
He didn't think his smile could grow any bigger but it did. Having a name to that beautiful face made him feel warm and happy inside.
"Okay, I know this is crazy," he said. "But I was thinking..."
"Hi, Evette," a man said.
They both looked up at the bald man with a long beard that was braided and reached his chest. He looked like a viking but not any of those Adam knew from WWE. Adam didn't know this man at all but clearly his new found passion across from him did.
"Hi, pumpkin," Evette said.
Evette stood up and pecked the man's lips. He smiled at her. The same smile Adam just had on his face. Clearly she was spoken for. Adam's smile dropped while Evette picked up her iced coffee.
"An iced coffee with pumpkin syrup for Halfdan!" The barista called.
"You ordered already?" Evette asked.
"I saw you when I walked in here," Halfdan smirked. "Should we go to the beach?"
"Yes," Evette looked at Adam. "Oh, you were saying something. What was it?"
"I forgot," Adam lied. "Have a nice day."
"You too," Evette said.
Adam watched as the couple held hands and left the coffee shop together. A happy couple about to have a beach day together with an iced coffee each. They were happy together. He never had a chance with the beautiful Evette. Her love for Halfdan had been showing all over her face, and the viking looking dude had shown just as much love back.
"Stupid pumpkin syrup. Mondays fucking suck!"
