A/N Firstly, I'm really sorry it took me this long to update this story again. What can I say, life got in the way and my writers block still has not vanished. But even though I'm struggling with writing on itself, I made the decision to at least finish this story no matter how long it might take me. I own it to y'all and to people whom are going through the process Oliver is going through, all of it that's he going through.
Secondly, while this chapter is very short, I think I managed to finish it in true Cabson - style. Don't kill me if I indeed manage to do it again, finally I would almost say. As for what it will be? I plead the fifth... Ha ha
Back to the story itself, kept y'all waiting more than long enough for it.
Chapter 59
"You can't move mountains by whispering at them." - Pink
~~~ A A A ~~~
It was 5 minutes after Oliver and Jane had left the oldest Detective's room. At first Alex and Abby wanted to protest but one look at their respective better half's had made them to keep their protests for themselves. Kathy had stayed with the two ADA's. All three women hoped that trouble one and two would manage to stay out of trouble this time, although the looks on their faces when they'd left didn't predict many good things.
"Have I done the wrong thing by saying who it was?" Kathy asked, more to herself than to the two women.
One blonde and one brown eyebrow raised and both women looked at Kathy.
"If you'd like to be at the other end of Liv's wrath or have a death wish, I'd say yes, but based on an educated guess, I assume you aren't that stupid and surely have you been at the other end of it at least once in your life. Jane, usually, isn't as bad as Liv, not that it is much better, however coming to Oliver, she's probably just as bad as he is," Alex answered.
Kathy, involuntary, shuddered before she replied back to the beautiful blonde.
"I value my life and more importantly that of my children too much for that," Kathy said.
"Why do ya think Alex and I didn't say anything? Even we are not that stupid, and they are our husband and girlfriend," Abby drawled.
"While Abby makes an excellent point here, my main reason to allow it, so to speak, is that once he's back, I have a slight chance of actually keeping him in his bed for the rest of today and if I'm really lucky tomorrow morning as well," Alex added.
Both Abby and Kathy snickered after Alex was finished. Both women knowing very well that it would have been easier to have cranky toddler picking up and putting away his toys than to get the stubborn Detective stay in his bed for even one hour.
"Good luck with that Benson, you and I both know it ain't that easy if not nearly impossible. But hey a girl can dream right," Abby winked at the blonde ADA.
"While you would have been right about a year back or so, now I have some blackmail material on him. He might still be stubborn as hell and hardheaded, he does have one soft spot as well, yours truly, in the end he still doesn't want me to worry about him too much. And he knows perfectly well that if he won't stay in his bed, I'll worry about him. Also, I know for sure he doesn't want to stay one minute longer than strictly necessary, and he knows that I'll make sure he stays here way much longer than he wants if he won't stay in his bed. So you tell me, Counselor, do you really think my dear husband stays in his bed or not?" Alex finished, as if she was defending one of her motions.
"Well when ya put it like that, then yeah he'll stay in his bed, eventually," Abby drawled.
Kathy snickered softly before she clasped her hands in front of her mouth. But of course the oldest blonde in the room was too late and both ADA's had heard her already.
"Something you'd like to share with the rest of us, nurse Kathy?" Alex asked,
and while the younger blonde used her courtroom voice there was a light undertone in it.
Kathy shook her head while she verbally added, "I plead the fifth, Counselor Benson,"
Abby and Alex looked at each other and Alex winked at Abby, causing the Texan to get a mischievous smile on her face.
"Would you like to correct that answer on a second thought, Kathy?" Alex asked.
Kathy, of course, wasn't born yesterday, and saw the short interaction between the two attorney's and knowing at least Alex well enough, knew that she'd better speak up instead of keeping her mouth shut. If she not wanted to hear it afterwards for years to come once the other two had gotten it out of her involuntary. And she couldn't deny to herself at least, that she would be the one laughing in the end for a moment at least.
"Well, how many times have you seen me trying to keep either my ex-husband or your husband in their hospital bed, begging them and threatening them with everything I could come up with, and still have them walk out of the hospital way too early for our liking?" Kathy smiled.
Both Alex and Abby looked at the older blonde and then at each other, their smiles quickly left their faces and both women frowned.
"We're screwed," Both women muttered.
"Well at least I know what you'll be facing," Kathy added.
"Yeah like that's gonna be helpful," Alex mumbled.
"Oh it could be a bit helpful, Benson, at least now ya know what ain't working," Abby quipped.
All Alex did was glaring at the Texan, knowing it was useless to reply to her. Then the blonde ADA decided to change the subject of their conversation back to trouble 1 and trouble 2, as they called them, although it was more like a sweet nickname they'd like to tease the Detectives with.
"I just hope they won't get themselves into trouble, with the look on their faces when they left, I think we might be happy if it won't get that far that we have to do some serious damage control," Alex pensively said.
"I would like to say that Oliver has just been going trough surgery so that he won't do anything stupid, but I know better than that, and I sure do know him better than that," Kathy said.
"Well that and then there's my girlfriend as well, I swear those two always seem to either find trouble or trouble finds them. But the one thing I have to admit is that usually they get into trouble when they are somehow defending either Blondy here or myself. And we all know how protective both of them are when it comes to the both of us," Abby replied to both women.
Alex and Kathy looked at each other and couldn't help but smile and shake their heads.
"Tex got a point there. She's right, usually that's what gets them into trouble," Alex laughed.
"I've known Oliver for quite some years but it's true most of the of time it's about you one way or another, Jane I don't know that long or that well, but seeing as he is much like Oli, I know you both are right about her too. It seems like he just can't help himself and your honor or defending you for that matters, are like a red flag on a bull. All bets are off, immediately. It's like some sort of add, want to piss off Detective Badass Benson, just insult Alex Benson and you get more than ya asked for," Kathy smiled.
"Oh my God, you're bad Kathy," Abby laughed.
"What?! It's true and ya know it!" Kathy said, but laughed about it herself as well.
The three women talked and joked around a bit more for a while, when Alex looked at the clock on the wall in Oliver's room.
"You know it's been over an hour, and they still aren't back, if they won't be back in the next 5 minutes I'm gonna look for them myself," Alex said.
"Me too," Abby replied.
"Me three," Kathy added.
Both women looked at the oldest blonde with their eyebrow raised.
"What? It's not like you couldn't use all the help you can get when they're not back and in trouble, besides I know how Oli is and have the illusion that I know at least a bit how to calm him down," Kathy said.
"True on all counts. But on the other hand, when we all go look for them, and they come back here to an empty room, let's just say that trouble will be taken to a whole new level. Maybe it's wiser for you to stay here and wait to either one of us comes back, Kathy," Alex answered.
"Well when ya look at it like that, then it's you who should stay here, Benson. Cause what you're implying will most certainly happen when they come back here and you're not in the room. So maybe it might be better for Kathy and I to go and look for trouble 1 and 2, and for ya to stay here," Abby replied.
Alex was about to respond to Abby when the door of Oliver's room opened and both Detectives walked back into Oliver's room. Although, it was more like on a snails pace in Oliver's case. All three women looked at the dark haired Detectives and to their surprise, there were some kind of satisfying smiles on the corners of theirs mouths. Throwing off all three women completely. Oliver walked to his bed and, stubbornly, slowly climbed into his bed on his own after he pecked Alex on her lips of course, then he patted on his bed and it took Alex less than 5 seconds to get onto the bed and nestled herself against her husband.
"So here we were thinking that we soon should have start looking for both of you. And then the two of you are walking back inside with somehow a satisfied smile on your faces, care to explain that to all of us, Detectives?" Alex asked.
Oliver and Jane looked at each other and both were thinking the same thing.
'Nah let's wait a minute or two and then the looks on their faces will be priceless'
"I think I'm gonna rest for a very short while first, now," Oliver answered, as he closed his eyes.
It took the Detective all he had to keep his face straight but being on the force for years and at SVU as well, helped him to be able to keep off the smile of his face.
"Well I'm not gonna explain anything when Detective Badass is gonna rest, we all know how rare it is that he's voluntarily doing that," Jane said, her tone as serious as Oliver's voice had been.
Now the three other women were really shocked, and of course they suspected something. The problem was that none of them had a clue about what it was that was going on.
"You two have been gone for over an hour and now is the time that you decide to rest first instead of telling us what is going on?" Alex asked.
"Yup that's correct. So you all just have to wait for a little while longer, and then we'll explain it all and answer the many questions you probably, no, most certainly will fire at us. All two or three of you," Oliver answered, with his eyes still closed.
The Detective tried to get as comfortable as possible, at this current moment, and made a silent statement with it. They all knew that they were not getting anything more out of him right now. Alex, Abby and Kathy looked at Jane and instantly all three of them knew that they weren't getting anything out of the Italian Detective either.
Just like Oliver and Jane thought it was just a couple of minutes later when there was a knock on the door of the Detective's hospital room.
"Come in," Oliver answered.
The door opened and three heads went up and looked at the door, looking at whom it was that entered the room. Three jaws dropped on the floor, and they looked completely shocked at Oliver and back to the person that just had entered Oliver's room.
A/N2 Oops …... I did it again.
