Every time he looks at her she feels like she's never seen such kind eyes on him. Every time he embraces her she feels like she's being held like a treasure. Every time he kissed her she really feels like she's being loved. Can she really assume that he actually loves her she wondered? She was always so anxious and cautious towards her and other people's feelings for the sole reason of not wanting to get hurt that she tried to keep her feelings locked up deep in her heart. But right now she felt like they are to burst out every moment and every second that she held them in any longer is crushing her heart and suffocating her. Haru probably knew it all along. She just didn't want to admit it and Hayato didn't make it easy for her to believe in him. And to be honest it was really dumb of him. Making up all kinds of excuses to stay with her but never getting to the point with his feelings.
Haru chuckled as she thought back on that path that those two have went through and gently stroked his hair while she watched him sleep in the morning.
"Hayato… Gokudera Hayato…" She whispered his name. His expression was so quiet and peaceful. He looked like a baby to her. "You idiot." If only he was always this quiet. Now that she thought about it there was never a quiet moment with him. In most of her memories they shouted at each other, calling each other names and fought over meaningless things. But she never hated it. It was their own way to communicate. And in their own way did they understand each other.
She sighed thinking of the foolish picture that the two of them made. Then she stood up from the bed to pick underwear, a light t-shirt and shorts from her wardrobe and went to the bathroom. After she finished washing up she went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Looking into the fridge there wasn't much she could do. So she put some toast into the toaster and took out the eggs to fry them. While she was setting the table she wondered if how long Hayato will sleep and of she should wake him up.
He must've been very tired from the journey that's why she was very reluctant to wake him up. It was because of her as well as because of him that those two were so tired. If only the two of them weren't so stubborn. If they were to be honest and opened their hearts to each other instead of building walls all the hardships would've probably never happened. Just saying what's really on their mind. Why is it that the truth and words of love are always the hardest? Is it because it is too precious? Because they were afraid to lose it? Because they were afraid of rejection? Or is it because of pride? What is the use of pride when you gain nothing from it? They knew it all along. That they were playing a useless game and dragged it out for too long. But Haru wanted to believe that all the experiences also brought them together for them to share a stronger bond than before.
"Haru…" His voice called her name from behind her ear and his arms wrapped around her waist pulling her body closer to his. His heartbeat was so strong and fast that she felt it on his back. Strands of his hair brushed over her skin that it tickled her neck. "I'm sorry…" He whispered as he put his head on her shoulder and tightened his grip. Her shoulder slowly felt wet through her t-shirt. "I'm sorry that I'm like this… please don't leave me."
"Hayato? Why-?" She was confused by his words. From these few words there were many questions she wanted to ask but didn't let her speak.
"I-I know… I'm an idiot, I'm not worthy of you. But… I can't be without you." He repeated in different words with the same meaning. "Don't leave me."
Haru slowly understood. She sighed and grabbed his wrists to loosen his grip. "Hayato." Then she turned around to face him putting her arms around his shoulder. He was crying. Gokudera Hayato, self-proclaimed right-hand man of Vongola tenth' mafia boss, the storm guardian, that foolish man was crying in front of her. Even though she wanted to hear it so much from him first. Even though she wanted a confirmation first. A rope to hold on before falling. But that foolish man just wouldn't give it to her. She understood that he has his own ways. A way of expressing his feelings that only Gokudera Hayato could. That's why she won't ask for it anymore and accept him the very way that he is. "I think I told you yesterday but I guess you were too busy with something else to hear me." She giggled. "Gokudera Hayato. I, Miura Haru, love you."
Instead of easing his tears they drop out of his eyes even more. He looked at her for a while not believing what her heard. He knew he was a fool for not telling her the truth much earlier. But for a long time her heart and her mind was with someone else. But now she was just there in front of him, in his arms and looking as beautiful as ever, with a smile on her face that made him wish time could stop, that they could remain in that moment forever. But no, the time is ticking. He could clearly hear it from the clock in the kitchen. The time passes as well as the picture of them together. Time became too precious. Too much precious to waste it on anything else than her. Every moment in his life he wished for it to be with her. The woman he thought whose heart he could never have, was finally his.
"I love you Haru." The words he thought he could never tell finally escaped from their cell inside his heart. "I love you." Suddenly, after the first time, it became so easy. "I love you." Words so precious that he held them back for a long time, suddenly became so easy to say that he had to repeat them over and over. "I love you."
"Yeah, I love you." She smiled while tears started rolling down her cheeks.
Gokudera Hayato and Miura Haru love each other.
