Regina opened her eyes. Why was she awake ? She heard a little noise. A scream coming from the guest room. Emma ! She got out of bed, looking at the time. It was three in the morning. She had slept during three hours, that wasn't bad...She ran to the room where she had left Emma for the night. Opening the door, she found a panicked Emma trying to get out of her blanket, but only rolling it more around her legs instead of pushing it aside. Regina removed the cover and Emma got startled. Regina apologized instantly, blaming herself for having forgotten that Emma couldn't see her in the darkness. She told her not to worry, that it was only her. Emma laid down again. Regina asked her :
- Did you have a nightmare ?
Emma answered :
- Yes, it was about a huge beam of white light coming from me. It scared me.
- A beam of light ? Interesting…
- What ?! What do you know ?
Emma had also forgotten that she had powers, and Regina had not told her about that, not wanting to have to explain that to someone who had never seen magic before. So she just said that maybe it was something she had seen in a movie. She had herself seen a movie where there was something similar. Emma seemed to doubt her words, but she didn't try to dig further. Fortunately. Regina knew that Emma had this « superpower » which told her if people were lying, but she wasn't sure if this Emma without any memory still had it. She reassured her and she told her to go back to sleep, that she would be tired in the morning. It felt like she was talking to their son. Well, for now and until Emma got her memory back, it was technically her son. But she couldn't bring herself to be happy about that. Emma and her had been through a lot together, and she appreciated her. She wanted the real Emma back. The one who remembered everything.
When she tried to leave the room, Emma shyly asked her to stay. Since the guest room had only one bed, a king size bed, Regina accepted and she laid down beside her friend with no memory. But as she was going to close her eyes, her phone rang. Oh why, WHY did she bring it here ? Why didn't she leave it in her room when she came to see if Emma was in trouble ? And who on earth called at three, no sorry, now four in the morning ? Nobody in their right mind, that was for sure. She groaned, reaching for the annoying device.
