It was midmorning in Rorikstead as Ana worked on fixing her ripped-up armor. She grumbled angrily and slammed her hands down in frustration, the metal clinking together. A head popped in, looking at her with a sheepish smile.
"No luck?" Valmorren asked as he slowly made him way into the room with snacks Mralki supplied them with during their stay. Ana sighed as she spun around, slumping into the chair.
"Nope."
Valmorren chuckled as he set the tray of snacks down on the table next to the poorly sewn armor.
"Eat. I'll try fixing it," he said, placing a hand on Ana's cheek, running a thumb over the matching scar they shared. Ana looked up at him, smiling warmly in response. She placed her hand on his, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
"Alright," she admitted as she got up, "I'll let you fix it, Master of The Threads."
Valmorren snorted. "Master of The Threads?"
"What?" Ana asked as she popped a piece of sweetroll into her mouth, "You're much better at doing this than I am."
"Years of medical experience does that," Valmorren said, laughing. He picked up the armor and began to undo the threads Ana has sewn in. "By the way, even Mralki can't believe you fell so far and only got scratched up."
"I bet so," Ana said as she rolled her eyes in amusement, "Even I'm surprised, I'll be honest."
"I told you to watch your step."
"And I saw something odd in the distance."
"Doesn't mean almost kill yourself, hun," Valmorren chided as he gave Ana a sideways look. Ana giggled and kissed the top of his head.
"You're right, and I'm sorry for scaring you," she apologized. Val turned his head and kissed her.
"At least it makes for a funny story, right?" he asked with a grin. Ana laughed and nodded.
"It sure does," she looked back at the armor, "I'll leave you to this while I go talk to the old man myself, alright? Surely, you didn't tell him all of our adventure, did you?"
"Of course not! That's your favorite part," Valmorren teased.
"Be honest!"
"Okay, okay- I told him my favorite parts. That was it."
Ana rolled her eyes.
"So, you told him, huh?" she said, giving him a knowing look. Valmorren looked away sheepishly, continuing to fix up the armor. Ana shook her head in amusement and placed her hand under his chin, slowly turning his face towards hers. She kissed his forehead before kissing his lips.
"I love you."
"I love you more," Val challenged.
"Oh really? I think I actually love you more," Ana retorted.
"Nu-uh, I love you more!"
"Nope! I love you more."
"Lies. I love you the most," Valmorren announced loudly as he set the armor down and stood up in a swift motion. He grabbed ahold of Ana and kissed her, his hand moving to cup one of her cheeks. Ana placed her hands on Val's chest, slightly gripping the collar. Ana broke the kiss for a second to look up at him with a smile.
"How about letting the armor and Mralki wait? We have all day for that," she whispered to him, nodding toward the bed behind them. Val's cheeks turned red and, he grinned. He picked her up, slowly back up towards the door to shut it before heading towards the bed.
The two lovebirds were always so inseparable.
