One Night
A/N: Hey everyone! Just a little drabble that came into my head! I'm trying to write my chapters shorter and see if it helps me concentrate more on the story's focus and outline. Sorry if there's any grammatical mistakes . I've been writing a lot of formal essays for school so it might be weird lolz. Anyways! I wrote three chapters in a night so yay! :3
Background/Summary: Coming back from their class mission, things seem off between Ochako and Izuku.
"So…"
Ochako peers up from her milkshake that was quickly melting. "Yeah?" she replies back at her froggy friend. She already knew what she was going to say, since it had been the exact question being asked every day after their class mission.
"Did he ask you?" her smile let her nose crinkle.
"No," Ochako sighs, "Because he's not going to."
Izuku was brave in so many ways, but asking a girl out was not one of them. After their class mission, Tsukauchi and the rest of the police force wanted to give Class 1-A and 1-B a huge thank you for all their efforts. Specifically both Izuku and Ochako as they both were surprisingly one of the front runners of the whole operation together. Aizawa dropped the news once they returned back to their normal academic schedule that a formal invitation was extended to them. Since then, she's seen less of Deku than usual.
"Ochaco," Asui exhales letting the gravity heroine take a sip of her drink. "You know what this means right?"
She decided to ignore her through the loud slurping of the straw. Tsu was one of her closest friends, and any idea or thought she had on her life meant a lot, but this was something even she couldn't understand.
"He's probably thinking of something major. You never know, maybe he's out there plotting it out right now."
As amazing as that sounded, there was no point in getting her hopes up, especially since there were plenty of chances for Izuku to do something to hint back his feelings. It just never did. Asui and the others kept insisting that he has feelings for her, but if he was so interested, why not say something? Let alone, anything.
Feeling a pit in her stomach, she took one last sip from her drink trying to force down any forming lump happening in her throat. She hated that a boy was making her feel this way, especially since it wasn't just any boy. It was Deku.
"Next Topic!" Ochako finally blurts out.
Asui playfully rolls her eyes at her friend, knowing she got out of this conversation this time. "Fine." She says, folding her arms across her chest. "Has Gunhead reached back to you?"
More bad news
Ochako cringes, "Well, not really."
"What do you mean, 'not really?"
"Well, he emailed me back saying he would consider it, but that was pretty much it."
Ochako sheepishly smiled, "But I'm not too worried about that. I'm sure I'll get another chance to intern with him again."
"Ochako, but it was one of the top training of the year, and it's completely limited! The fact that you could get a chance to participate is phenomenal!"
It was true, Gunhead was particularly known for his combat martial arts, but every few months he would offer a stealth and in depth crash course on combat training. Since Ochako loved interning with him, she thought it was worth a shot to see if he would be willing to let her participate. She hasn't heard anything back yet, but she's sure one day she'll be able to sit in again in one of his classes.
After walking to the metro together, Ochako spiced up the conversation by asking more about Asui's life. How were her siblings, Is she thinking about applying again to intern, how was she doing during the class operation.
"You know, being that in a new time of age, girls are asking guys out more often than our parents' generation ever did." Tsu persisted with the first conversation. Ochako shook her head. Nothing stopped her friend from making her point.
"Noo!" Ochako laughed at the idea of even asking out Deku. She would probably get so worked up, she would float into orbit, or worse, throw up rainbows all over the floor. "Not a chance!" she said before both entering to go back to their school.
It was quiet between them up until they reached their dorms. The boys were nowhere in sight, which probably meant they were all at the gym together. It was for the better, especially if it meant not seeing Deku.
Reaching their rooms, the girls offered a goodnight to each other. Asui told Ochako not to think about the whole situation with Deku too much, which made her laugh inside. She's been running on five hours of sleep a night trying to get him out of her head the past few months. This was not a new challenge for her. "I'll try not too," Ochako kindly smiled before closing the door, "Goodnight Tsu!"
"Goodnight Ochako!"
The gravity hero collapsed on her bed surrounded with laundry she intended to fold and put away. Sighing, she fumbled out her shirt and shorts, leaving her in her comfy state of girl boxers and undershirt. She rolled them up into a tight ball as best as she could. Ochako propped herself back up on her bed, and eyed her hamper. If the universe could give her a sign, let it be this one. If her clothes made it in, It meant Deku had feelings for her. If not, she would move on from the idea of them together entirely.
Suddenly she felt the importance of her making this shot. The pressure was on. If she made the shot, maybe it was their chance to finally try being together. If it doesn't….
She positioned the ball of clothes tightly in her hand.
She examined the range it would take to make the score.
She prayed to the universe, "let it be real, let it be real. Please!"
She readies herself for the toss and releases.
It makes the shot.
