Takes place around Harry's fifth year.
Two people on two different continents were celebrating birthdays. One was in America the other in England. In London England, Remus Lupin celebrated his birthday in his room at Grimmauld Place looking at an old family album. A picture of his younger sister Lizzie in her Hogwarts school uniform made his heart clench. She had been twelve when she died killed in a Deatheater attack during winter holiday of her second school year. She looked so happy and full of life. Remus brushed his fingers across her face, as he wished he could her see in person again. Turning the page, the next picture was of the two of them blowing out the candles on their wand shaped cakes. They were six years apart, but their birthdays were the same day. The picture below that one showed Lizzie holding her wand for school. It was her birthday present from Remus. It was 9 inches long made of cypress wood and cored with a tuft of Remus' werewolf hair. Setting the book down, he reached for the wand inside the box. His hand gently caressed it as his mind focused on the memories. A single tear ran down his cheek.
While Remus was shedding a tear over the loss of his sister on the birthday they shared, Buffy Summers was enjoying her birthday in England at the Watcher's Council. They had come to realize that if the party wasn't on top of the Hellmouth and nobody used the word wish, parties went fine. The party goers were Willow Rosenberg, Rupert Giles, Xander Harris, Faith Lehane, and Oz who had been a surprise guest. Willow came in from the kitchen carrying a cake while everyone sang Happy Birthday.
"Blow out the candles but remember not to make a wish." Willow reminded her.
"I won't." Buffy said taking in the number 30 candle on the cake.
Buffy went to blowout the candles, not knowing that deep down inside her, her heart was making a wish for what it most desire.
As soon as the candles had gone out everyone had been shocked when a large portal opened near Buffy. Giles being the closest to Buffy quickly pulled her back and away from the portal not wanting to chance that it would pull Buffy in. Before Willow could try and close the portal a body shot out of it hitting the floor hard. The portal closed allowing everyone to see the person on the floor before him. Buffy was staring at the man who lay before them trying to figure out why he looked familiar. The dam blocking the memory suddenly burst open and Buffy began to fall clutching at her head.
"Buffy!"
Giles called out as he caught her and kept her from hitting the floor. The others all looked toward her except for Faith and Oz who were keeping their eyes on the man on the floor who was setting off their senses. Buffy didn't answer the others when they asked if she was all right because she was too busy sorting through memories of people and places that had been long forgotten.
"Remmy?" Buffy called out. The man lifted his at the name that he hadn't heard anyone call him in years.
"Lizzie?" Remus asked staring at Buffy before getting to his feet. "Is it really you?"
Buffy nodded and the two moved toward each other quickly and were soon embracing each other tightly. Remus swung her around once before returning her to her feet. Neither one wanted to be the first one to break contact. Remus stroked her hair and soon had kissed her forehead and Buffy just took in the feeling of having her brother holding her.
"They told me you were dead. I thought I would never see you again." The two said at the same time.
"Lizzie, my dear sweet Lizzie. I've missed you so much. What are you doing here? Why didn't you come home?" Remus asked releasing her just enough to look in the face.
"I was told you were all dead and that I had to be taken some place safe for my own safety. I think they used a memory charm on me. You kept my wand? I can't believe you kept it after all these years." Buffy said seeing the wooden stick in his hand.
"Buff?" Xander finally interrupted. "I've got two questions. Who is he, and what do you mean by your wand?"
Buffy and Remus looked sheepishly up at the crowd having forgot they were there. The two turned to face everyone.
"This is my older brother Remus Lupin. Remmy this is Willow Rosenberg, Rupert Giles, Xander Harris, Faith Lehane, and Oz. You and Oz have a lot in common when it comes to full moons."
They all knew what Buffy was getting at without her having to say it.
"You and I should talk later." Remus suggested and Oz nodded.
Remus greeted them all and then Buffy suggested they get more comfortable before explaining what's going on.
With everyone sitting comfortably in the chairs they were using for the party Buffy began telling them about Remus.
"So, like I said this is my older brother Remus and I am actually from right here in England. I was born Elizabeth Joan Lupin, and this is my wand. I'm a witch and Remmy is a wizard."
Did you go to Hogwarts? Which house did you get sorted into?" Giles asked.
"Yes, I did, and I got sorted into Gryffindor. You went to Hogwarts?" Buffy told Giles shocked he knew about the Wizarding world.
"Yes. Both Ethan and I did. We were in Gryffindor. Lupin? I remember hearing something about a family called Lupin. The youngest was believed to have been killed in an explosion. Good lord. You're their dead daughter." Buffy nodded.
"Witch and Wizard and what is Hogwarts?" Xander asked.
"Willow and I are both witches but we're different kinds. Willow draws her power through the earth where my power comes from within and I harness my power through my wand." Buffy told them.
"And Hogwarts is the school where young witches and wizards learn about magic for seven years. Lizzie was only halfway through her second year when she supposedly died." Remis told them. "We were on winter holiday and we had gone home. It was the middle of the night when Deatheaters attacked the house for some unknown reason. The Ministry must have been expecting it for Auroras arrived seconds later."
"Aurors? Deatheaters?" Faith asked.
"The short explanation is Aurors good wizards Deatheaters bad." Buffy told them. "I was startled awake by all the noise. On instinct I grabbed my wand. I looked out my door and saw the fight going on below. I went back to my room, transfigured myself a ladder and climbed out my window. I thought I would sneak up behind them when I was hit from behind. I lost consciousness. When I awoke, I was confronted by a man in a tweed suit. Now that I think about it, I think he might have been from the Watcher's Council Giles." She turned to look at her brother. "He told me that you were all killed in an explosion. That's the last thing I remember."
"I wouldn't put it past the council to have placed a memory spell on you. It would have made it easier for them to manipulate you." Giles told her.
"The ministry told us that you were dead. They supposedly found your burnt body and your wand." Remus told her his eyes beginning to tear up at the memory.
"It's alright Remmy. I'm here now." Buffy hugged him.
Buffy and Remus held each other tightly. No one said anything until they were sure the two had their emotions under control.
"What I want to know is why now?" Faith asked. "Don't get me wrong. I'm glad B's got her brother back especially after what happened to Little D buy why now? Both of you thought the other was dead until now."
"If I had to guess I'd say because it's our birthday. Remus and I were born on the same day."
"That could be. I was looking through an album that survived the explosion. It was one the only thing of Lizzie's I had left besides her wand. I take them out and look at them every year on our birthday. I was holding her wand when I was pulled into a portal."
"How do you like our gift Slayer?" Everyone turned when they heard an unknown voice speak.
"You mean Remus? The Powers sent Remus to me?" Buffy asked.
"They wanted to give you a present for being the oldest slayer on record as of today. Happy Birthday Slayer."
"Thank You." Buffy whispered knowing that both Whistler and the Powers heard her. With that, Whistler left leaving the group in awe. Several tears of happiness trickled down Buffy's cheek.
"You're the Slayer?"
"Yep for twelve years."
"My little sister is the slayer. The one girl in all of the world who fights the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness."
"That pretty much sums it up except for the one girl part. Now there are over two hundred slayers fighting darkness all over the world."
"What? How is that possible? I thought there could only be one chosen one at a time."
"That's how it's supposed to be, but thanks to the spell Willow did, there's more than two hundred."
"Yeah Willow is one bad ass Wicca witch," said Xander.
Willow blushed slightly at sudden focus that was on her. Remus looked at her in amazement.
"Give him a little show Will." Xander suggested.
Willow nodded. Looking toward the table where the cake was at, she pointed at the cake and it began to float to her. Once she had the cake in her hands, Willow chanted a spell and Remus's name appeared underneath Buffy's on the cake. She showed the cake to Remus.
"Amazing." Remus said.
"Thank you."
"What about you Buff? Let's see what you can do," said Xander.
"Okay. It's been a long time since I've done any magic." Buffy reminded them.
Taking her wand from Remus, Buffy relished the way it felt in her hand. She took a moment to think of a spell. She aimed her wand at an empty chair.
"Expelliarmus!" The spell hit the chair and it flew back. "Wingardium Leviosa!"
Buffy levitated the chair in the air for a few seconds before sitting down back in its correct position.
"Very cool." Oz told her.
"Thanks, so what do you guys say to some cake and ice cream?" Buffy asked and everyone was ready for cake.
After having finished off the cake and ice cream Remus used Buffy's wand to clean up the dishes while Willow cleaned up the party area. Once the party was mostly cleaned up, they all went into the sitting area to talk. Remus, Buffy, and Giles were trying to answer everyone's questions about the wizarding world. Remus was in the middle of answering a question when there was a popping noise in the middle of the room. A man with short black hair, extremely good looking, very thin, and wearing jeans with a white shirt looked around, his wand drawn.
"Remus. Finally. I've been looking all over for you. What are you doing here?"
"Snuffles? Is that you?" Sirius froze at the sound of her voice. Sirius looked toward where the voice came from to see Remus sitting next to a familiar blonde.
"Squirt? I can't believe you're alive." Sirius cried out in shock.
He ran over and hugged her, picking her up and spinning her around, and then kissed her on her forehead before hugging her tightly again.
"I've missed you so much. I don't think you've gotten any taller since the last time I saw you." She smacked his shoulder lightly.
"No short jokes allowed. I'm not the same little girl you guys used to test your tricks on."
"She's right old friend. My little sister is a slayer." Remus said as he came to stand by his two favorite people.
"The Slayer? But she's so tiny."
"I've been told I'm tiny but spry. Guys let me introduce to Remmy's best friend Sirius Black. Sirius this is my Watcher Rupert Giles, our Wiccan witch Willow Rosenberg, Xander Harris, Oz, and Faith Lehane the other slayer, and the last of the originals."
"Damn B, where are you keeping all these hotties. First your brother and now this one. It's your birthday and I feel like you've given me a present." Faith said eyeing Sirius with a look that said given the chance she would eat him alive. Sirius gulped a little nervously.
"It's nice to meet all of you. Remus, I brought something you might want." Black reached into his cloak and pulled out Remus's wand. "I found it on your bed."
"Thanks, Padfoot."
Later that night after the party had finally ended Buffy took Remus and Sirius to the flat, she stayed in when in England and didn't want to stay at the council. The three sat in the living room talking about what had been happening since her supposed death. Buffy told them about Dawn and what had happened with Glory. How she had tried to stop Dawn from jumping and they both fell. They had been shocked upon hearing that she had been dead and brought back. Buffy wept upon hearing about the death of her real parents and of James and Lily. Remus held her tightly.
"They have a fifteen-year-old son named Harry. He reminds me lot of James," said Sirius.
"I know this is happening sort of fast, but have you-?"
"Yes." Buffy said cutting her brother off. "I want to go home with you."
"Buffy? Are you sure?" Remus asked wanting to be sure.
"Yes. I want to spend time with you and Sirius. I can't believe we've been this close to each other the past few years and never crossed paths. Besides, it sounds like you could use a slayer or two. For the right incentive I'm sure Faith wouldn't mind coming along."
Buffy said wagging her eyebrows at Sirius. Sirius gulped at that. In his younger years Sirius wouldn't have hesitated jumping into bed with Faith, but now he had to think of Harry.
"Maybe one day, but for now I just want to spend time with you, Remus and Harry."
They talked for a little bit longer that night making plans. The day after next Remus and Sirius would be taking her to Grimmauld Place where she would meet the Order, the Weasleys, Hermione, and Harry.
