Ch.3: Thanks,Class Rep
A/N: Chapter 3! I wanted to tie-in Iida into all this because I feel that he is someone Ochako can also intrust in. Hope you like it! I'm going to try my best to get more stories out!
The knock on her door made her jump from her bed. Ochako fumbled for her phone to expose what time it was. 11:18 AM.
"Crap! I'm going to be late!" She shrieked before throwing herself off her bed.
"Uraraka?" she heard a male voice from behind her door.
"Just a minute!' she yelled out loud, while rummaging her closet. Should she wear a dress? No that was too much, maybe a skirt? She eyed a blue jean skirt thinking of what could pair with it. Looking above was her yellow sweater she had only worn one time. "That'll work." she said, snatching it from the hanger.
Another knock came from the door again sounding more persistent.
"Uraraka?!"
"Just a minute!" She yelled back, sounding a little annoyed now. Jeez, when did Deku get so impatient.
She threw on some black socks and white sneakers. She started making her way just before she caught a glimpse of her reflection from her small vanity. Her brown strands were frizzled all the way to the back of her head. She couldn't go out like this! Grabbing her brush, she brushed her hair with a yanking force trying to get it at least decent.
"Can you at least let me in?" The voice came again. Ochako rolled her eyes. For a boy that she was head over heels for, he sure had a weird way of annoying her now.
"Jeez Deku, could you at least give me one second to get ready?" she marched over to the door, swinging it open.
Miraculously, it wasn't him.
"Iida?" Ochako raised a brow, "What are you doing here." She swung the door wide, letting the class rep in. Two weird things were going on. One: that Deku wasn't with him ,and two: that Iida was breaking one of the school's dorm rules on entering a girls room. This had been serious.
She felt foregin in her own room with him there. She bounced back on her bed, hoping he wouldn't find her mess of laundry piling up under her bed.
"What's up Iida?" she finally said, trying to make herself comfortable. He kept eyeing at her posters and scanned the looks of her room like a cop. Was this all he was here for? She felt like he was going to call the fire marshall on the wall hazards she had posted in her dorm.
Before she could even open her mouth, Iida turned to her.
"Why are you acting all strange all of a sudden?"
Ochako flinches. Had her sudden change in attitude seem that obvious to everyone. Nothing was really going on with her. Her whole 'dilema' wasn't even that big of a deal compared to the grand scheme of things. She had to play it off, she didn't want him sniffing out the truth behind her feelings towards Deku.
"I-I'm not acting weird." She stammered, "What makes you say that?"
"You've been acting either quiet or frantic since we came back from the class operation. Honestly, It's not just me that's worried, everyone's seeing it." Iida said, crossing his arms in front of his chest. His face looked stone cold, the way it always did whenever he was serious. Ochako gulped back. "Nothing is going on." she says looking away from him.
"Really? Nothing is going on at all? You haven't walked with Deku or I together to class or lunch, which you always do. You're usually the first one up and now we barely see you till noon. In class, you're constantly out of it which is why Aizawa gave you detention last week."
Ochako winced. That horrible detention day was nothing but endless scrubbing and gum scraping. Maybe her actions recently were so subtle.
"Uracka, what's really going on." Iida says, sounding more concerned, "Is there something that happened back at the operation we don't know about?"
"No!" Ochako snapped. She folded her arms closer to her, feeling horrible for blurting out like that. "Sorry," she says instantly, "Nothing happened back at the operation."
"Well you're going to have to tell me or I'm going to have no choice but get the teachers involved. As the class rep, It's my duty to advocate for my classmates. Right now, everyone's concerned about you, so if I can't help..maybe someone else could."
Ochako bit her lip. "I didn't think it would get that serious."
"Well then," Iida sighed taking a seat next to the gravity heroine, "all you have to do is just talk to me."
Ochako sits there quietly. She didn't really want anyone knowing too much about the way she's been feeling recently, but if people were taking notice of her odd behavior, was her feelings much of a secret? She exhaled deeply, looking up at Iida. He was another good friend, and definitely another person she could trust. If she told him the truth, she knew it would never leave his lips.
"Alright." she turned towards him with her bright big eyes. "I'll tell you."
"Thank you Uraraka." Iida gently smiled back.
"Under one condition. You have to swear not to tell any of this to anyone! Not a soul! Not even the old man you sometimes come across at the park you always seem to talk to on your morning jog."
Iida crossed his heart with his finger and winked. "Not a single soul."
"Alright." Ochako breathed. "Let's take it from the beginning."
She hadn't even realized it was almost twelve thirty before she heard another knock on her door. Iida had left several minutes ago, reassuring her that he would not tell anyone what she entrusted him with. Still his reaction seemed off-putting to her. Instead of being all surprised like she had though he would be, he boasted into laughter.
"I knew it!" he slapped his knee, trying his best not to laugh too loud.
Ochako could feel her face burn with the amount of truth she exposed. Iida's reaction didn't seem to help too much.
"Shh! Don't be so loud!" She flailed her arms at him.
"I'm sorry, but this is why you're acting differently?"
"Yeah," Ochako picks herself up from her bed. "Why? Wouldn't you if you were in my shoes?"
"No!" he said, joining her up. "It's Midoriya we're talking about. He's not someone to be so timid about. Honestly, I think he's more nervous around you than you are of him."
"I know that!" Ochako paces around her room, "It's just that, he's the one that's been acting differently with me. He hasn't really wanted to talk or barely even looks at me. It's like we're barely even friends."
Iida chuckles, but nothing said was funny. This had to be the most vulnerable she's ever been with a person, and this was their reaction? She reaches over for one of her fluffy pillows and buries her face into it. That's it. She wasn't going to be telling anymore of her secrets if it meant this.
"Do you want to know what I think?" Iida began to say, his voice a lot softer.
"Sure." Ochako muffles through her pillow.
"I think he does have feelings for you, Uraraka. He's just too afraid to say it, let alone show it. I think right now isn't the best time to be getting involved with anyone romantically, but I do believe there will be a day where you two can chance it out."
The brunette peers up at him slowly.
"You think so?"
Iida nodded. "That's just what I think, but try not to let this get to you. Afterall, you two are still friends. He may not know how to act around you either after what happened during the operation."
He made a valid point, but she wasn't going to start back up on that conversation.
"Well, I better go get ready myself if i'm going to join you all shopping." he started making his way over to the door. "Just hang out with him for a bit. I bet you, things will start feeling normal."
She walked him out. "I'll try," she says with a smile, "Thanks Mr. Class Rep."
"Anytime."
And just like that, another person knew her secret.
The second knock on the door shook Ochako off from her daze.
"Uraraka it's Deku, are you ready to head out?"
The brunette smiles and races to swing the door open.
"Ready!" She says with her eager grin looking back at her freckled friend.
"Alright then, let's go!"
"Right!"
