Part of Their World
Watching the two young mermen swim away, were two sort of half-eel & half-human creatures, both staring & smirking creepily at the 2 young mermen. One of them had a height of 5'5 ft, & male. His hair is brown with dyed purple strands next to his heads. He has purple-blue eyes & very light-tanned. The other is 5'4 ft in height & is also a male. His hair color is turquoise, which is a sort of half-oval shape that reached above his ears. His eyes are blue, behind yellow-circled glasses. These two are named Rex & Weevil, also known as Unagi & have been known to have a magic that allowed them to show their master what they see with each of their one eye. They were also known for being mischievous, un-trustworthy, liars, & backstabbing.
Both of their one eyes glowed, Rex's left eye & Weevil's right eye, which is projecting Yugi & Malik swimming. But, it showed them also projecting on a crystal ball in a dark cavern lair.
"Yes, hurry home little prince. We wouldn't want to miss dear grandpa's celebration, now, would we?" A powerful voice said, in a small hole that was able to hold a few body's in it.
The person continued to stare at the glass ball that still showed Yugi & Malik swimming, with worried expressions on their faces.
A 'tsk' left the voice's mouth. "Ha! Celebration, indeed. Oh, bah! In my day, we had fantastical feasts...when I lived in the palace." The voice said, grabbing a piece of frightened shrimp to his mouth & ate it.
The voice had waved away the crystal ball & sighed, while the crystal ball descended down to the ground onto a spike table, that allowed the crystal ball to remain afloat, still showing Yugi & Malik swimming away.
"And now look at me. Wasted away to practically nothing. Banished, exiled, & practically starving, while he & his flimsy fish folk celebrate." The voice said, as it climbed out of its hole & descended down to the ground.
This creature is seen as a half-human & half-octopus, also known as a Tako, & seen as a male. This man has a tanned muscular, but pulsating body & stands at a height of 6'8 ft. His appearance contains dirty blonde, red eyes, & a light blue jewel embedded to his forehead, along with a small strange light-blue straight pyramid around his neck, like a necklace. His upper body contained a clothing of; A black cape attached to spiked padding which were held by strings, along with gray shoulder pads on his shoulders that which'd to the near bottom of his black tentacles.
His name is Anubis, most commonly known as the 'Sea Sorcerer'. He once lived within the Palace along with King Muto, in their youth. But, power & obsession to control the merpeople, had gotten the better of him & he studied forbidden magic. As a result of that, he was charged against merpeople laws & thrown into exile forever, until the day he dies.
"Well, I'll give 'em something to celebrate soon enough. Rex! Weevil!" Anubis shouted at the crystal ball that was connected to Rex & Weevil.
Rex & Weevil jumped at the shout of Anubis, which caused them to slam their heads on the rock that they had hidden in. They both groaned in hurt & annoyance at Anubis's voice, but they never had the guts to say that they were annoyed with Anubis, that guy is terrifying.
"I want to keep an extra close eye on this pretty little grandchild of his." Anubis ordered, through the crystal ball.
Rex & Weevil smirked evilly at each other, knowing their master had a plan.
"He may be the key to Muto's undoing~" Anubis says, with an evil smirk on his face, his hands.
Malik had sighed sadly & looked from the pillar he had stood against, then looked behind him, to see the 'Family Drama", only to turn back around. The minute that he & Yugi arrived at the castle, they tried to sneak in & not get caught. Sadly, they were caught in not even a second. The moment they entered the castle, they were caught by Yusei, with his arms crossed, one of his left fingers tapping on his right arm. The moment, however, that Yusei spotted his baby brother, with no injuries, he rushed over to him & pulled him into a hug.
Malik then began to shiver in fear, as he remembered what had happened after they had been caught. Especially, what Yusei said while he was hugging Yugi.
FLASH BACK
"I'm sorry that I worried you, Yusei.." Yugi says, in an apologetic tone, filled with sadness & regret.
"I'm just glad that you are okay, Yugi. Don't worry...it's not you, that I'm mad at..." Yusei said in a sort of slow voice at the end. While he is hugging his brother & staring at Malik with his famous "I'll kill you stare" directly in his eyes.
Malik gulped quietly & smiled nervously at Yusei, fearing that he was already going to die. While, Yugi was completely oblivious to what was happening behind him.
END OF FLASHBACK
Malik couldn't help, but shiver in more fear & horror, knowing the implications behind Yusei's words & Yusei's glare on him.
(As much as I am terrified of Yusei & what he might do to me...I think Yugi has got it worse than me...) Malik thought as he turned his whole body, as he stared at the royal family in the throne room, & seeing Yugi slightly afraid of his grandpa's wrath.
After Yusei had found Yugi, his other siblings & grandpa followed Yusei, then King Muto ordered his grandchildren into the throne room for a 'Talk'. They all followed their grandpa, Yugi looking slightly afraid.
Yugi stood before his grandpa, who had taken a seat at his throne, & his siblings, who all had a mixer of worry & irritation in their faces.
"I just don't know what me & your siblings are going to do with you, Yugi." King Muto says, irritation in his voice.
"Grandpa, I'm sorry. I just forgot." Yugi said, trying to reason with his grandpa
"As a result of your careless behavior..." King Muto started to say, not having his grandson's excuses, but was interrupted by a certain musician.
"Careless & reckless behavior!" Rebecca said, her voice filled with anger.
"...the entire celebration was, uh..." King Muto started again, but was again cut off by Rebecca.
"Well, it was ruined! That's all! Completely destroyed!" Rebecca said, swimming towards Yugi as she continues to speak.
King Muto just sighs, as he looks at Rebecca & his grandchild, watching as Rebecca continues her rant. While Yugi's siblings just rolled their eyes, & looked at their baby brother with pity, especially since it's Rebecca.
"This concert was to be the pinnacle of my distinguished career, Yugi-bear...Now, thanks to you, I'm the laughingstock of the entire kingdom! Didn't you care how you made me feel, Yugi-bear?!" Rebecca said to Yugi, in a harsh voice.
"I-I..I'm sorr-" Yugi said, trying to apologize, but was cut off by his best friend.
Malik saw from where he had been, & was not about to take anymore of Rebecca. Especially, since it was making Yugi more upset about himself, than he already was. No one is allowed to hurt his best friend. So he left his area & swam up to Rebecca.
"It wasn't his fault, so lay off Rebecca!" Malik said, straight up to Rebecca's face.
Rebecca backed up a bit in shock, & Malik realized that Yugi's grandpa & siblings look at him in curiosity, along with a glared expression at him for an explanation, mainly Yusei & Jack.
"Laughs nervously* Uh, oh, first, uh, there was this shark chasing us-" Malik began to say, only to be cut off by two overprotective brothers.
"SHARK?!" Yusei & Jack screamed, only to be shushed by their grandpa, before his grandchildren could interrogate(murder) Malik.
Malik huffed out in relief, before continuing their story.
"Yeah, yeah. And then we tried to...but we..or, um, I couldn't & Yugi...then*Growls*..& we..whoa!" Malik tried to explain, but left so much out.
King Muto just stared at Malik with his right hand on his cheek, while looking at Malik, with slight boredom in his expression. Rebecca looked at Malik in irritation with her arms crossed over her chest. Arthur looked at the merman with pity, seeing how Malik is failing miserably at telling them what happened. Yugi had a slight smile on his face as he looked at his best friend, who was kind of bad at explaining where they had been. While Yugi's siblings had a variety of faces; Yusei & Jack had their usual blank faces with their arms crossed, Mai had an eyebrow raised also having her arms, Alex had a slight smile on her face, & Jaden was having a hard time not to laugh as he watch Malik make a fool of himself.
"*Sighs* But, then we were safe. But, then Marik was like, 'This is this, & that is that &..." Malik almost finished saying before, getting cut off.
King Muto opened his sleepy eyes & was shocked at the name he heard, coming out of Malik's mouth.
"Marik?" King Muto asked in surprise.
Malik quickly covered his hands over his mouth, realizing what he had said. But the damage had already been done. He quickly hid behind Yugi, even though he is taller than him, & looked at Yugi with an apologetic look. Yugi looked back at his best friend & slightly smiled in reassurance, & turned back to his shocked grandpa.
"What? Oh! You went up into the surface again, didn't you? Didn't you?!" King Muto says, seriousness in his voice as he swam closer to Yugi, with Malik behind him as he slightly quivered in fear.
"Nothing happened." Yugi says, trying to reassure his grandpa.
But, his grandpa wasn't having it.
"*Sighs*Yugi, how many times must we go through this? You could have been seen by one of those barbarians, by one of those humans!" King Muto exclaimed, trying to reason with his grandchild.
"Grandpa, there aren't barbarians!" Yugi said, trying to counter his grandpa's statement.
"They're dangerous! Do you think I want to see my youngest, & most innocent, grandchild snared by some fish-eater's hook?! Or see the humans using you in unspeakable ways?!" King Muto says, while putting his hand under Yugi's chin, making the young merman look him in the eyes.
"I understand that you're worried grandpa, but I'm 17 years old now! I'm not a child anymore." Yugi says with a bit of attitude in his tone, while slightly pulling away from his grandpa's hand under his chin.
"Don't you dare try that attitude with me, young man!" King Muto exclaims.
Yugi tries to explain further, but was cast out as his grandpa continued talking.
"As long as you live under my ocean, you'll obey my rules!" King Muto says.
"But, if you would just listen...!" Yugi tries again, only for it to fail.
"Not another word!" King Muto shouts, turning his back to Yugi & startling Yugi with his shout.
The rest of Yugi's siblings, who were watching on the side, looked at Yugi in pity & sadness. Yugi's was rarely the one getting shouted at or disobeying the rules. He only got in trouble for things like this, which had been rare, or being pulled into his siblings' crazy swim adventures. (Mainly Jaden & Mai, sometimes Alex)
"You are grounded, so go to your room & I better not see you out! And I never, never hear or see, you going to the surface again! Is that clear?!" King Muto exclaimed, turning back to Yugi, looking for an answer.
Yugi looked at his grandpa with his head held up high, but anyone can clearly see tears about to fall from them. Yugi nodded his head shakily, before swimming away in near tears, with Malik following behind him.
King Muto swam back to his throne, sighing sadly & putting his right hand back on his cheek, with his eyes closed.
"Oh my..." Arthur says, in a sort of pity tone as he watches the young merman swim away.
"Do...do you think I was too hard on him..?" King Muto says in regret, as he is looking at his oldest friend & his grandchildren.
"I understand what you were trying to say, but...grandpa, you know how Yugi is when his mind is set on something." Yusei says, trying to have his grandpa understand
"I agree with Yusei. My friend...Yugi is like you when we were young & wanted to go to the surface, you know that." Arthur explains to his old friend.
King Muto only sighed in sadness, with his eyes closed. He definitely knew how he used to act at Yugi's age; wanting to explore abandoned ships, finding human objects, & wanting to see a human. But, that was all gone now.
"I do, it's just...you know how humans are, especially the greedy kind. I just don't want Yugi to be hurt or..." King Muto says, before stopping himself, knowing that he didn't want to say it out loud.
Yugi's siblings, Rebecca & Arthur understood what the King was saying & why he stopped himself. Anyone could see Yugi as the most beautiful creature in all the land, his innocence & purity along with his slight feminine features only add to his beauty. And, any human could see this & wanting to take Yugi for themselves, in any way horrible.
Yusei clenched his teeth when the mere thought dared enter his mind. Yusei had despises humans, ever since that incident, he made it his mission to keep his family safe. Especially Yugi, because he knew what humans would do to his baby brother. Any human that would dare try & taint or hurt his baby brother in unspeakable ways would...
A hand was carefully landed on his tense shoulder, trying to comfort him. Yusei thought it was one of his sisters, but the hand felt muscular. He turned his head slightly to look behind him, only to be surprised to see Jack. Yusei knew that Jack wasn't exactly the comforting type, but Jack had a look on somewhat reassurances for Yusei, as if telling him that Yugi is safe. Yusei sighed softy & looked back at his brother with a slight smile, who had returned the smile.
King Muto saw this & smiled. It was kind of rare that Jack & Yusei would have moments like this, but it brightened his heart seeing those two get along. He sighed once more, not in a sadden way though, & got up from his throne.
"Alright, it has been a tragic & long day. I'll say that we eat in awhile & then call it a night." King Muto says, as he looks at his grandchildren, Rebecca & Arthur.
They all nodded in agreement, even though the sun had just set, they rather have a bit of dinner & head to bed. King Muto saw that Yusei started to head into the direction where Yugi had swam away. King Muto gently grabbed his eldest grandson's shoulder, stopping him from swimming away. Yusei looked up at his grandpa in confusion, before his grandpa had to say.
"It's..best if we wait a bit. I doubt Yugi would want to come down for dinner anyway. Let's just...give him a couple of minutes..." King Muto says with slight hesitation in his voice as he looks at his grandson.
Yusei wanted to argue, but ultimately agreed & sagged his shoulders. Even though he hated the idea of his baby brother in distress & sad, he knew it was better to give Yugi some time alone.
King Muto released his hand on Yusei's shoulder, before smiling sadly at his eldest grandchild, before turning around & swimming away to the dinning hall. Yusei & his siblings, along with Arthur & Rebecca followed the King to eat. As they were swimming to the dinning hall, none of them noticed two figures swimming in the opposite direction of them, except for one.
Rebecca dialed back a bit & she definitely saw something swim the opposite of her. Rebecca looked forward & saw that nobody else saw anything, she then proceeded to swim where she saw the figures. Rebecca was able to catch up to the figure a bit, to see that they were mermen, but quickly dove behind a pillar as she saw the merman's stop & look behind them. When Rebecca was sure that they heads were turned back forward, she looked up & quietly gasped to see Yugi & Malik swimming away into a far distance.
(Hmmm? What is Yugi-bear up to..?) Rebecca thought, as she began to swim in the two merman's direction, carefully being out of site.
Rebecca had to be very cautious when she began to swim behind Yugi & Malik. She noted that they were traveling for about 20 minutes, & that the two mermen were going very far away from the palace & the city.
(Geez, how much farther..?) Rebecca thought as she had hidden behind another rock & panted from exhaustion.
She almost missed Yugi & Malik stopping, along with checking from side to side, as if to make sure that they were alone. Rebecca had pulled her eyes a bit up from the rock to see what they were doing. She saw Yugi & Malik pulling on a rock-like door, which opened to a cavern & they both proceeded to swim into it along with moving the rock-like door. Rebecca's suspicion grew more, as she waited 3-5 minutes, before going to the rock-like door. She had tried to gently open it, as to make sure that she wouldn't make a sound.
Rebecca had managed to fit herself into the hole, that she could manage to open from the rock-like door. As soon as she was inside, she saw a glass filled with sand.
(Interesting…) Rebecca thought as he made a move to grab it, before something shined into her eyes.
Rebecca looked up, only to gasp as she saw objects that she had never seen before. But, before she could look at it more, she heard shushed voices & looked down to see Yugi & Malik. She quietly swam lower to hear them & quickly hid behind one of the cavern's little holes, as she began to listen to what they were saying.
"...Yugi are you ok? I'm sorry for what happened." Malik apologized to his best friend, as he saw Yugi laying a small stone rock, that was long enough to hold his tail, which went slightly up, like a hill.
After the fight with his grandpa, Yugi swam up to his room, but didn't go in it as Malik came from behind him. Malik suggested that they go to Yugi's treasure room to cheer him up a bit. Yugi had obviously agreed, needing to get away from the palace a little bit.
"I'm okay Malik. It's just...I wish, I could get him to understand. I just don't see things the way he does." Yugi explains, as he looks the dinglehopper in sadness.
"It might take more time Yugi...he has known humans longer than we have.." Malik said, trying to explain to his best friend, but knowing that Yugi is slightly right.
"I know, it's just...I can't see how humans that makes sure wonderful things, could be bad..." Yugi says as he looks up & begins to sing.
Rebecca looks from her hiding spot with her left eyebrow raised as she looks at Yugi.

Yugi sings, as he puts the dinglehopper on a candelabra, as Malik just watches him.

Yugi sings as he looks up at his many treasures that he gathered & swims up to his treasure as Malik follows behind him.

Yugi sings, as he grabs any of his treasure, before showing a box full of thingamabobs (Wine openers) to Malik, who looks at it in fascination. But Yugi then sings in a more sad tone.

Yugi sings as he puts down the box & looks up at the small hole that allowed light in the cavern. While Rebecca was looking at Yugi in more interest as to what he was going to sing next.

Walking around on those...what do you call them? Oh, feet.
Yugi questions, before Malik shoves his tail in Yugi's face playfully & Yugi playfully pushes it away. Yugi continues to swim, as Malik giggles & Rebecca sighs in annoyance in her corner.

Yugi sings as he swims a bit around Malik, before grabbing Malik's hand with a smile & pretending to have a stroll with him.
"What was that word again?" Yugi says, still holding onto Malik's hand.
"Ummm...ah! Street!" Malik exclaims, finally remembering the word.
Yugi looks at Malik with an appreciative expression, before singing again.

Yugi sings as he swims a bit more up to the hole where light shined through, sings of what he truly wanted. Before, swimming back down & kept singing, but with more excitement & happiness in his lovely voice;

Rebecca gasped in shock, especially hearing Yugi's bold claim of what he truly desired.

Yugi sings, as he was swimming descending, & laying on the watered sand & pretending that it's warm. Malik followed his lead by trying to bury himself beneath the sand. But, Yugi quickly sat up & sang again, but his sadness returning a bit.

Bet they don't reprimand their grandchildren.
Bright young men, sick of swimming
Ready to stand!
Yugi sings again, happier as he swims in a loop, before continuing to swim up & grabbing one of the many books that he had collected. He looked at Malik, who swam up with him, & sang to Malik of what he wanted to do, if he had the chance to meet a human.

Rebecca could only look at Yugi in shock & hurt as he sang about the humans in such a loving way. As Yugi sings, he looks through the book, before putting it down & swimming to a painting of a burning candle.

Yugi sings passionately, he looks back at the hole of the cavern, showing the bright streak of light, & swims up to it, as he continues to sing. Malik looks up at his best friend as he sees Yugi swimming to the bright light.

Yugi sings as he swims to the hole & puts his arm through it, as if he was trying to reach something or feel something. But, only felt sadness as he realizes that he couldn't have a chance to be on up there, with humans. Yugi starts to float down, & sings in sadness, barely noticing Malik having a sad expression on his face as he watches him.

Malik watches as his best friend floats down & sits back on his small hill rock with his head still staring at the hole of the cavern. Malik can't help, but feel sadness & helplessness as he watches, his best friend's dream to be with humans can be nonexistent. Out of everyone, Malik knows that Yugi deserves his chance at his dream.
Malik quietly swims to Yugi & gently puts his hand on his shoulder. Yugi looked behind him & smiled gently at his best friend, but Malik knew that smile contained traces of sadness in it.
"Yugi...I-" Malik started to say, but was cut off by a ruckus & a similar girl screamed from behind his back.
Rebecca was still in shock as she heard Yugi sing, not noticing as she leaned forward, she slipped on a plate. Which caused her to fall over over things, in the process getting tangled with string-objects & she had let out a scream.
Yugi & Malik looked behind, only to be faced with a tangled & angry Rebecca Hawkins.
"Rebecca?!" Yugi says, surprised & shocked that she is here.
While Malik on the other hand, is very much afraid to deal with an angry Rebecca, especially since it looked like she had been here for a long time. Meaning she heard, everything.
"Yugi-bear, what are you...How could you...Oh! What is all of this?!" Rebecca said, somewhat demanding as she started pulling on the stringed-objects that were tangled on her arms.
"Oh! It's..um..i-its just m-my...collection..." Yugi says, hesitation clearly in his voice as he is rubbing his arms as he waits for Rebecca's reaction.
"Oh..I see. Your collection, hmm?" Rebecca asks, her eyes closed while holding up a wedding ring.
Yugi chuckled nervously, thinking that maybe Rebecca is slightly ok with this. While Malik is slightly waiting, in fear, for her to burst.
"...IF YOUR GRANDFATHER KNEW ABOUT THIS PLACE..." Rebecca screams as she rips everything tanged off of her, but is interrupted by Malik, who looks almost equally angry.
"You can't tell him! This is Yugi's one place to feel like himself & like all of his human things! I swear if you tell his grandfather, I will rip-" Malik began to threaten, actually scaring Rebecca a bit, before his arms were grabbed by softer ones.
As much as Yugi didn't want his sanctuary to be discovered, he didn't want Malik to hurt Rebecca. Yugi quickly got off his small rock hill & grabbed Malik's arms, pulling him away from a slightly scared Rebecca, before putting his hands together in a pleading motion along with a pleading voice as he looked at Rebecca.
"Oh, please don't tell my grandpa, Rebecca! He would never understand. Please, this is the one place I feel like I wouldn't be ashamed of my interest in human things." Yugi says, pleading with Rebecca, making his voice sound like a small, fragile child.
Rebecca could only look into Yugi's big, amethyst eyes & sigh in exhaustion. Even though she knew that she should tell the King, she couldn't betray Yugi like that. Rebecca could only hope that she could get Yugi's mind off of his silly dream of humans.
"Okay, I won't say anything. But, Yugi, I think you might be under a lot of pressure right now, especially after what happened at the palace & it doesn't help with being down here. So, come with me. I'll take you home..." Rebecca says, as she grabs Yugi's hand & starts to swim back to the entrance.
Yugi reluctantly follows Rebecca, although thankful that she won't tell his grandpa about his secret cavern & his collection. Malik grumbled a bit in disagreement, but reluctantly followed behind the both of them out of the cavern.
"...& I'll make you something warm to drink. Your favorite drink, if you want!" Rebecca finishes, still holding onto Yugi's hand.
But, before they could reach it, a shadow cast over the hole in the cavern, making Yugi look up in interest. He saw the shadow pass away from the hole, as it looked to heading in a straight line.
"What do you suppose...?' Yugi asks, before releasing his hand from Rebecca's & swimming up towards the entrance of the cavern & opening it up. Before, swimming up to the surface.
"Yugi? Yugi!" Rebecca exclaimed, no longer feeling Yugi's hand in hers & looked to see him pass her & open the entrance.
Rebecca quickly swam to follow him & looked up to see Yugi swimming to the surface. Rebecca tries to catch up with Yugi, along with Malik, as them try to get to Yugi.
Yugi only pays attention to the shadow of a large thing, floating on the sea.
(What is that?) Yugi thinks, as he continues to swim up.
Not knowing that this is the moment that changes Yugi's life forever & discovers what it means to be in love, but also having that love be a 'forbidden love'.
Ohhh, Yugi! You don't realize what's about to happen!
