This is just a fun idea I had bouncing around in my head for a while. I thought up some OC's a bit ago and decided to write them into a TMNT fanfic for fun! Let me know what you think, this is just the beginning of the story. I don't know how long it'll be, it depends on if I decide to continue it or not.
I'm trying to keep romance out of the story but it may not stay like that for long. If this does change, it'll be kid-friendly, no *cough cough* scenes or anything. Just cute crushes n such. No TCest, swearing, or excessive gore.
This is also my first time posting any of my stories out in public so thank you for reading, I appreciate it :)
Reviews and constructive criticism are very welcome

This takes place right after they meet Kurtzman (from the 2012 series)

Disclaimer: I do not own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (although that would be awesome if I did)
I only own my three OC's: Jade Olsen, Ethan Butler, and Lilith Collins

"So..." April said as she jumped over the turnstiles. "Kurtzman?"

The four turtles and April had just returned to the lair after an exciting night out. April was still trying to form the events into a list to process it all. A lot happened. Like, a lot.

Kurtzman... she thought. He knows about the Kraang, the guys, and... me? She glanced up at Leo who was in an argument with Raph - nothing new there. How did they not know he had been watching them? All this time?! She would be lying if she said it didn't freak her out a little. A complete stranger had been following them around taking pictures, notes, documenting information about them from the very beginning! A scheme he had been able to pull off for months, if not years, without their knowledge. It just seemed too wild. And creepy.

"He was kinda cool!" Mikey shrugged from the couch, already staring glass-eyed at the TV, clearly unaware of the Leo-Raph fallout happening two feet behind him. "I mean, kind of creepy how he's been watching us 'n stuff but kinda cool too." He gasped. "He's like a spy!"

April found that even more unsettling. What if he was a government spy who had been sent to collect data on them? Does the government know about the Kraang and the Turtles? Why haven't they been doing anything? Did he know they were living down here illegally? Did he care?

So many questions raced through her mind, it was hard to find a logical answer for any of them. The old man had explained everything to them not even an hour ago, yet it seemed wrong. Like there was more to his reason than simple curiosity. After thinking about it for a few seconds she concluded that Kurtzman couldn't be a spy. At least not a government spy. The military would've stormed TCRI already if that were the case. But if it wasn't his job to spy on the Kraang or the Turtles, then what did he benefit from it? It must've been important to him to stalk the four turtles brothers and risk a throwing star between the eyes.

Speaking of throwing stars...

Raph and Leo's argument was getting heated. April wondered if she was going to have to step in soon.

"I'm sorry, O' Great and Fearless Leader!" Sarcasm dripped off the nickname. "I didn't realize independent thinkin' was illegal in the Kingdom of Leo!" Raph spat.

Leo was used to the names and insults his red-clad brother was throwing and calmly replied, "You can think freely, but when we're out on a mission or in a battle, you need to listen to me. I'm the leader!" Raph seemed to get angrier at this and it was painfully obvious how much Leo failed to notice. Judging by his next sentence or two, he was completely oblivious to the steam shooting out of his hot-headed brother's ears. "I'm the leader, you're the follower. You do what I say and nothing else! Or is even that too complex for a meathead like you to understand?" Not good...

April half, no fully, expected Raph to tackle Leo right then and there. But, surprisingly, he just grunted and stormed off to his room, locking the door loudly behind him.

"Hothead," Leo mumbled, staring at Raphael's bedroom door. His face was a mix of frustration and bewilderment, like his brother's behavior was an unpleasant surprise. Unpleasant, sure, but there was nothing new about Raph's refusal at following Leo's orders. It wasn't exactly surprising. Leo turned to April as she walked up to him. "Hey, April. Sorry about Raph, he's..."

"I know," she said. "So..." she started, unsure how to continue.

"So...?"

"So I was thinking."

"About?"

"Kurtzman."

He nodded. "Me too."

"It's just too suspicious. Why would he be spying on you four?! Maybe a few pictures here and there because you're related to the Kraang, but a whole board?!" She folded her arms. "He gives me the creeps."

"I know, April, but his explanation was solid, his reasoning for following the Kraang was justified, and since we're trying to defeat the Kraang, it would make sense he'd have a lot of information on us." He seemed to be contemplating something, his deep blue eyes staring into space as if it had the answers he was looking for.

"But why purposely follow you guys around? It seemed like he was investigating you guys."

Leo's eyes came back and met hers. "Wait." Maybe space did have his answers after all. "That hatch Mikey tripped over before the Kraang broke in... Did we ever open it?" (There was no hatch in the actual episode, I added this for the sake of the story)

Come to think of it, no... April didn't recall anyone even acknowledging the hatch after the battle until now. She shook her head, "No, I don't think we did. Do you think he was hiding something under there?"

"I don't know..." the turtle turned around, facing Donnie's lab. "Donnie!" he called.

Not even two seconds later, the purple-bandanna clad turtle peeked his head out of the lab, donning a welding mask. "Yeah, Leo?"

"The hatch in Kurtzman's... Did your scanner pick anything up underneath it?"

Donnie shook his head. "Nothing it could recognize, at least." He fully stepped out of the lab, lifting his mask and taking his gloves off. "Unless he had a brand-new substance we've never before or a mutant under there, it was empty."

Leo nodded slowly, staring at the floor for a second. Without moving his gaze, he ordered, "Don, get Raph. We're going back over there."

Donatello nodded and tossed his welding gear into his lab, running off to fetch his hot-headed counterpart.

"April. Mikey." The two looked up when their names were called. "I need you to get ready as well," Leo added, turning back around to face her again. "Be prepared for anything. I have a feeling he was hiding something under there."

"Of course," she responded, knowing full well what he meant. She sensed something under there, one or two presences, but the Kraang's storming of the apartment distracted her long enough to forget about it. And if she was being honest, she wanted to know what was under there. Badly.
