Sakura stared down at the negative pregnancy test in front of her. She'd been so sure that she had been pregnant, so sure that she was finally going to bear Sasuke a child. It had been Sasuke's goal since they had gotten married a few short months ago to get her pregnant as quickly as possible. Sakura knew that Sasuke wanted a baby, he wanted to beat his brother to the punch before Itachi's wife (if you wanted to call Deidara that) to the punch. The two Uchiha brother's had always been competitive growing up so Sakura really wasn't surprised that Sasuke was competing in this as well. She just wished that she could have given Sasuke some better news. Maybe there was something wrong with her? Maybe a reason why she couldn't give Sasuke the child that he so desperately wanted.

Tears welled in her eyes, she wanted nothing more than to be the wife that Sasuke deserved, but if she couldn't provide him with a child what use was she? Maybe once Sasuke discovered that Sakura apparently didn't have the ability to have children he would leave her for someone else. That thought stung, she loved Sasuke even though she knew that Sasuke didn't necessarily love her in return. He just wanted to beat his brother to making a child, Sakura didn't think she understood why, but she had wanted nothing more than to be able to do that for Sasuke. It was in the contract that she'd signed when she'd married Sasuke, she was to provide a child within the first year of marriage or the marriage would be annulled. Sakura wasn't one to allow her dreams go down the drain so quickly, so she tried everything in her power. Clearly nothing was working though because she still wasn't pregnant. Would Sasuke despise her for never giving him a child? She had hoped that the Uchiha would come to love her so that even if a child wasn't born he wouldn't through her away.

"Sakura," Sasuke's voice filled the hallway and Sakura grimaced at the sound. She didn't want to tell him that she'd failed yet another pregnancy test.

"I'm in the bathroom." Sakura called out hoarsely, she couldn't help but be afraid that Sasuke wouldn't want her anymore.

"Are you pregnant?" Sasuke asked bursting into the bathroom to find Sakura sitting on the toilet staring down at a pregnancy test. Sakura shook her head.

"I think there's something wrong with me." Sakura admitted. "I can't get pregnant it would seem."

"Maybe you should see Lady Tsunade." Sasuke suggested and Sakura could hear the disappointment in his voice. "I'm sure that she'll know of something that would help you conceive."

"I shouldn't have to go that far." Sakura muttered. "I should be able to easily get pregnant without help, I'm twenty years old much too young for fertility issues."

"Tsunade is good at her job, she can probably help figure out what's causing you to have your issues." Sasuke said, it was no lie that he was disappointed in her lack of ability to give him a child, but he supposed that he would still have to be a man and take care of her even if they never had a child."

"Have you ever thought of possibly asking Naruto if he would bare a child for us?" Sakura asked quietly, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke's best friend and coworker were one of the rare types of men that could bare children. Sakura wasn't exactly sure how it worked, but she knew that Naruto would likely do anything for Sasuke.

"It shouldn't be his job." Sasuke said and Sakura grimaced, she couldn't agree more but if he wanted a child he was going to have to take some measures to ensure that it happened.

"You do know that in order for him to get pregnant, I would have to fuck him?" Sasuke asked turning towards her. "That's the only way that a child would be conceived was if it was in the natural way."

"I don't care for the idea but if he can give us a child at this point why not try it?" Sakura asked. "Until I can find out why I'm having such problems trying to conceive."

"I don't know." Sasuke said. "He's never mentioned wanting to have a child with anyone." Of course, most people couldn't stand being around the rambunctious young man, most people hated him because he was an orphan and they feared him trying to encroach on their life out of his loneliness. Naruto was never one to force himself to be around people that didn't want to be around him so Sasuke really didn't understand that particular fear. Naruto had a good heart and was willing to do anything for those that he cared about, which is why Sasuke was sure that Naruto would likely accept Sakura's proposition without much thought.

"Of course you have to consider that he might get attached to the baby while he's carrying him or her." Sasuke said. "And might not want to give it up once it's born."

"Make him sign a contract that says he has to give the baby over." Sakura said. "Naruto doesn't exactly make a lot of money so I'm sure if you pay for him he'll jump on the opportunity." Sasuke grimaced at the thought, Naruto wasn't a gold digger he often struggled and wouldn't ask for help even though Sasuke was rich and could easily help Naruto out.

"Naruto isn't a gold digger, you should know that." Sasuke reminded her. "He has trouble paying his bills all the time, and he never asks for help."

"I know he's not." Sakura replied. "I didn't mean to imply that. Naruto has a good heart and I know that he'd be willing to help us."

"Get checked out by Lady Tsunade first and then if it comes to that, we'll see." Sasuke replied. "I don't know if that's something that Naruto will want to do." Sasuke wasn't sure that that was something that he was willing to try, he wasn't attracted to other males to begin with so having sex with Naruto wasn't exactly something that Sasuke wanted to try, but he supposed if it meant that he could get a child before Itachi, he would have to try it. It also meant that if Sakura wasn't able to conceive that he would be able to leave their marriage, he still wasn't sure that that was something that he wanted to do. He liked Sakura, he just wasn't sure that he loved her and trapping her in a loveless marriage didn't seem to be fair to her.

"I don't want you to leave me." Sakura said quietly. "I know I signed a contract that said our marriage was to be annulled if a child wasn't produced in the first year."

"That was something my father wanted to happen." Sasuke replied. "Whether I actually go through with that is up to me. My father can't control me for the rest of my life." Sasuke really didn't know why Fugaku Uchiha had made Sakura sign such a ridiculous contract to begin with. Sure Sasuke wanted a child, and he wanted to beat Itachi to getting one, but putting a time on Sakura's ability to birth a child was ridiculous and Sasuke wasn't going to stand for it.

"Why is he so desperate for a child to be born so soon?" Sakura wondered. "And did he make the same contract for Itachi and Deidara?"

"I don't think Father actually expects for Deidara to give birth, so I'm pretty sure that Itachi didn't have to sign anything." Sasuke replied. "Which is unfair to you."

"Maybe your father just really hates me." Sakura muttered.

"If it makes you feel any better, he hates Naruto more." Sasuke said. That was the understatement of the year. Fugaku Uchiha absolutely despised Naruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke didn't understand why. Growing up, Naruto used to spend the night with Sasuke but he'd always end up leaving early because his father had made some nasty, and rude comment about Naruto's lack of parents. Sasuke really didn't understand why Fugaku Uchiha hated Naruto so much, his lack of parents wasn't his fault. Something told Sasuke, that once Fugaku found out that Naruto had the gene that allowed him to get pregnant from another male, all hell was going to break loose. Sasuke didn't really think it was fair to ask Naruto to be put through that when his life was difficult enough already wasn't really fair.

Sasuke sighed, he didn't really know what to do, he wasn't sure that Naruto would even accept something like what Sakura was proposing. Sasuke wasn't even sure that he was willing to go so far to get a child just to please his father.

"You're father seems like he's in an awful big hurry for a grandchild." Sakura said quietly. "I wonder why. He's not so old that he and your mother can't try for another child if they wanted."

"I don't know, but I think there's somethings that he isn't telling me." Sasuke said. "And I kind of want to know before we proceed with anything. But I think it would be a good idea for you to to make an appointment with Tsunade to see what's going on." Sakura nodded, Tsunade was one of the best fertility doctors in Konoha so if she couldn't figure out what was wrong with Sakura no one else could.

"I'll see if I can't make an appointment with Tsunade." Sakura said quietly. "But you really should talk to Naruto about possibly being a surrogate." Sasuke nodded, he would do that, but first he would discuss the situation with his brother first. Itachi might know something more than Sasuke did about what was going on with their father.
