She'd managed to hold it together the rest of the night, shocking Toby as he waited for the waterworks. Spencer was annoyed by this, feeling like he was always waiting for her to fall apart, and waiting to put her back together. But rather than start an argument, Spencer cozied up and they enjoyed a few hours of cuddles and kisses and fooling around with the soft glow of the TV playing a sitcom re-run in the background.
Toby didn't leave until close to 3am, and because of this, Spencer slept in late the next morning. With graduation the next day, Toby's family would be coming into town today and tomorrow, and they would have a full house. He'd invited her to come over, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to go and if she would feel out of place.
She sleepily walked into the kitchen around 10, setting the coffee maker in a zombie-like trance, before she realized Melissa sitting at the table. "Morning, sunshine… you look like Hell. What happened last night? You ran out of here."
"Just a thing for school…" she yawned and popped two pieces of bread into the toaster. The last person she wanted to confide in was Melissa, that her father had stood her up for the dance and she was secretly panicking that neither one of them would come home for graduation, either.
"Oh, did you talk to Wren last night?"
"No… why? I didn't even know you guys stayed here last night."
"Mom and dad asked me to come and fax over some papers for them and it got late so we crashed, plus the renovations aren't so homey these days… but Wren was sleep talking and said your name, I assumed you bumped into him downstairs."
"No… that's kind of weird."
Melissa shrugged "You were probably just too loud when you came in."
Spencer blushed, remembering the pounding against the wall that ensued as they barely entered the house last night, assuming they were alone. "I guess so… I bumped into the book case and knocked some things over."
"Typical Spencer," Melissa got up and rolled her eyes.
Spencer rocked on her toes as she got the butter for her toast. "Do you know if Mom and Dad are going to be back in time for graduation tomorrow?" she bit her lip. "Or are you and Wren coming?"
"No one mentioned anything." She shrugged "But I think we're busy." She walked off, and Spencer got chills down her arms.
So many people will be there. You won't even notice if they come or not. It's a stupid piece of paper anyway in an ugly, fire hazard of a robe. She was less optimistic than the night before. She wanted to be strong, but that didn't stop her from fixating on the issue while drinking her coffee, on the verge of tears. Everyone knows how pathetic I am, that I came alone to a family event because my family doesn't think I'm important… they don't accept me as part of this family and they never have. Everyone knows it now. They just pity me, that's the only reason I have anything. The only reason Toby's father danced with me, and the other parents staring and making small talk. Just like how my friends caught me by myself at the picnic when they were looking for Toby. They saw everyone walk right by me. Like I might as well have been invisible. How can I face another event where I am alone? She ate her breakfast and went upstairs to get ready for the day. She turned the corner to her bedroom and literally ran into Wren, who was coming back from grabbing towels from the hall closet.
"Spencer," his lips formed a creepy grin as he looked her up and down. "have a good time last night?"
"It was fine," she went to walk away.
"I'd wager to bet it was more than fine." He chuckled and walked away. She shook her head and made a disgusted face. He was so crude.

Spencer's phone buzzed on the passenger's seat as she pulled into the parking lot at the store. Hanna's name lit up the screen and she smiled.
"Get together at my house tonight with everyone, maybe a girl's sleepover after – let me know. And bring your yearbook!"
"I'll be there." She responded promptly, happy to be out of the house that night. She liked when they included her in girls nights, because it made her feel like it wasn't only the fact that Toby brought her around that made them be friendly with her. It crossed her mind that maybe it still could be, but either way, she enjoyed girls' night.
She slowly walked down every aisle of the store, trying to find the perfect gift for Toby for graduation. She knew him so well, and yet, she wasn't sure what gift to give that would mean the most. She had already gotten him an engraved pen with his name, but she realized it was a silly kind of gift only a Hastings would enjoy, and she wanted something nicer. She decided on a set of Pennsylvania pint glasses, a set of California pint glasses, a "homesick" candle, and a picture frame. Is it presumptuous of me to print a picture of the two of us? She thought, wondering if he would proudly display her photo in his dorm room, or if he would keep it tucked away in a drawer. Or maybe, just keep it a secret with no physical evidence all together. As the cashier rung up her things, it was like the harsh reality set in of how far away California actually was. But the line at the self-service photo counter was long, and so she decided it was a sign to nix the photo idea.
She got home, and rummaged through her drawers, looking for her gel pens and art supplies. As she emptied the drawer, she moved junk papers and old tests to the side and a notebook fell on the floor. She picked it up. Her 'happy' notebook. She smiled, remembering the most recent entries of when Toby made her feel whole. She took a minute to thumb through the beginning pages, and when she lifted the front cover, a folded-up, crumpled piece of construction paper fell out. She unfolded it and saw a faded, hand drawn birthday invitation she had made for her birthday party in kindergarten. It had fireworks and smiley faces and little stick figures playing. She remembered drawing it because her mom said she didn't have time to throw her a party, and so Spencer took it upon herself to make an invitation her mom could just copy and send. She remembered her mom crumpling it and laughing at it, telling her it wasn't good enough to be a real invitation. When her birthday rolled around, her classmates never came, and her parents went to the country club's first annual 4th of July tournament, and she sat home with the babysitter wondering why she didn't have a cake or presents on her birthday that year, just a card with a check in it that meant nothing to her at the time. She remembered the next year asking for another birthday party, and her parents re-hashing what had happened the year before and helped her come to the conclusion herself that no one would come and play with her. She never asked for another birthday party again. With another birthday around the corner, Spencer folded it back up and shoved it into the drawer, staring at the matching adolescent scribbles from the same time period. I wish Melissa was still my friend because no one at school wants to be. She didn't even want to play with me on my birthday. But I still love her and Mommy and Daddy and will try to be gooder this year now that I'm 7. She shut the book tight. I hate birthdays, she thought.
She finally found her art supplies and traced little designs on the edges of the paper before writing the words. "We look at the same stars, and exist in two places – here, and wherever you are."
She slide the paper into the frame and attached the card to the back and printed the QR code for a shared playlist. Here are some songs that remind me of you. Add the ones that make you think about me, or think about home, or just like and want to share. Listen to this playlist before bed and I promise I will, too.

After relaxing a little while by herself, she finally got ready and stopped by Toby's. She knocked on the door and as the door swung open by an unfamiliar 30-something blonde woman with a baby on her hip, who couldn't be much bigger than a year old.
"Uhm… Hi, I'm Spencer, I'm looking for –"
"Toby," the woman interrupted and yelled back into the house. "Where's Toby? His girlfriend's here."
She blushed, wondering how this woman knew, or even who she was. "Sorry to interrupt…"
"Don't be silly," the woman was loud and rowdy, that was for sure. Spencer wasn't used to this kind of family gathering. Hers were always more buttoned-up, and formal, and a lot less fun. Her house was all suit jackets and court cases and catered dinner with hired help, but here, everyone was running amuck, cooking, laughing, and making a mess. She kind of liked that. "Why don't you come in while we get him." She pulled Spencer inside and she looked around.
"You all came for graduation?" Spencer smiled a little.
"Well we only see each other a few times a year, so another reason to come and give Hell to my brother… we gotta take advantage." She teased, looking over at Toby's dad who was all the way across the house. "We spent a lot of years not talking, so now we don't waste any opportunity." She confided and looked over at the older children in the kitchen getting their hands into the container of sweets meant for later. "Ethan, Karissa, what do you think you're doing?" she yelled across the room, but the children just giggled. "I'm sorry, do you mind?" she shoved the little girl on her hip into Spencer's arms and went to go reprimand the children.
Spencer's eyebrows raised as she wondered what she'd gotten into, and the baby started to wail. "It's okay…" she bounced the baby at her side and rubbed her back and soon, the little girl was fine, giggling and playing with Spencer's hair and touching her face, and then snuggling into her neck. Spencer couldn't help but smile at this, and kept moving back and forth in the comforting motion that was calming the baby.
She heard a key in the door and saw Toby walk in with an older man, a little younger than their parents, carrying bags of ice.
"Oh, there he is," the blonde woman sang as looked up from cutting fruit to give the children a snack. "I totally forgot he went with Martin. My bad." Martin was her husband, and they were equally ditzy.
"Spencer," Toby smiled. "I just gotta put these in the back, I'll be right back." He disappeared to put the ice into the freezer and came running over. "Sorry, it gets crazy around here with my aunts and uncles… I see you've met Chloe," he laughed making faces at the little girl who got all excited, kicking and laughing at him. This made Spencer smile wider. "I can take her if you want, sorry about that." He put his arms out.
"I'm okay… she's my new little friend." She scrunched up her nose at the little girl and smiled. "I didn't mean to stop by while it was so busy… I just wanted to see if you wanted to go to Hanna's together later… and I have a little something for you for graduation, and I didn't know if you wanted it tonight, or if we would see each other tomorrow."
"I'm glad you stopped by… we can go together, but I'm only going to go for a little while… I have to be here with everyone tonight. Is that okay?"
"More than okay… Hanna invited me to sleep over with her and Aria anyway."
"Perfect." He smiled and kissed her cheek, making faces at Chloe again. He liked seeing Spencer smile and he liked seeing her with his family. She was so cute holding the baby. "You can stay for lunch if you want."
"I don't want to intrude… you see me every day, you don't get to see them often."
"I like seeing you every day." He reasoned "I want you to get to know my family."
"I know… and I will… but maybe tomorrow is better."
"Don't you have plans with your family after graduation? I figured I'd see you at night, I mean my family will probably still be here, but they won't party all night…"
"Honestly, Toby, I'm not even sure they will be home tomorrow." She focused her attention on the little girl in her arms instead of looking at Toby, it helped her keep it together. "And I know you're just going to get mad at me and mad at them for expecting anything… from the dance, and for tomorrow…. I told myself I would try until I turned 18 and could leave, I have always said that from the time I was 7 years old. I told you that. I'll be 18 in a few weeks and then it'll be over. I know nothing will change. The only reason I'm still planning to even walk tomorrow is that I volunteered to be there early to make sure all the diplomas and everything are in order, and I want to see you walk…and all of our friends."
"Spencer –"
"Toby, I don't want to talk about it. Just like I didn't want to last night. I'm okay…" she finally made eye contact. "I promise."
"I was just going to say you should come to dinner with my family after graduation if you're going to be alone. My dad got the back room at Mama's Old Italian, and after we're just going to come back here for cake."
"Oh…" she smiled. "Yes… I'd like that. And I can give you your gift… and we can do our yearbooks."
"I think Hanna said to bring them tonight… but we can do ours tomorrow if you want."
"Doesn't matter." She smiled, as Toby's aunt came and scooped Chloe back up.
"Thanks Sweetheart… are you joining us?"
"For a little while." She smiled.
"Toby and my brother have not stopped talking about you… you must be special."
"I'm not that special."
"She is, actually." Toby put his arm around her. "And I definitely wouldn't be graduating on the honor roll if it wasn't for her."
"Wait, you made the honor roll?" she spun around to face him and smiled. "Are you serious? Oh my god!" she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. "I told you!" she hit his arm playfully.
"Well sit next to me later, I want to hear more about that miracle." She teased Toby and went back to her screaming children.
Toby quickly introduced her to everyone else and brought her downstairs to help bring up drinks and the food they put downstairs to get out of the way. As soon as they got down the stairs, she kissed him. "I am so proud of you."
"It's all you," he let his hands wander up her sides.
"Tobyyyy," she whined, "your whole family is upstairs waiting…"
"So what's a few more minutes?" he smiled.
"Later." She pulled away from him and grabbed one of the sternos to bring upstairs, biting her lip. "Promise." She went up the stairs, leaving him to watch her.
XX
After they ate, they quickly jumped into Spencer's car and headed to Hanna's. Spencer had butterflies in her stomach for some reason.
"I have to tell you something." She said as they sat in front of Hanna's house, the music from her backyard filling the background and seeming to vibrate the car.
"Okay…" he raised an eyebrow, and looked her up and down. "What's wrong?"
"I bought little gifts for everyone… I was at the store and not really thinking… but now I feel really stupid… not because they didn't get me anything, because I don't care about that… I don't like people getting me anything anyway… but because they might feel bad… and also think I'm weird because we've only been friends for less than a school year… and because of you… and I don't want them to think I'm weirder than they already might because I all of a sudden think we're best friends or something and also I don't want them to feel sorry for me for being pathetic."
"First of all… they don't think you're weird and they like being your friend… with or without me." He tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. He just wanted to hug her and bring her home and snuggle her, but he knew he couldn't, and it would be better to be with friends to reassure her anyway. How long has she felt like this, like they aren't her friends? Did something happen that I missed? Why is she spiraling?
She nodded but wouldn't look at him.
"And you aren't pathetic… why are you so down all of a sudden? Is this about your parents?"
"No!" she raised her voice, and then settled when she realized she yelled. "Because Hanna asked everyone to bring their yearbooks and I am afraid of what everyone will say when they realize mine is completely blank."
"What do you mean blank?"
"I mean you don't have any room left for us to even sign and no one signed my yearbook or asked me to sign theirs. It's like it could be returned to the box with all the extras and no one would know the difference."
"Oh, sweetheart… no one is going to think…" he was breathing heavy all of a sudden, it was like her loneliness finally hit him. He knew she was lonely before him, and she didn't have all that many friends, and she was afraid to engage socially because she thought she wasn't good enough… all of that, he knew well. But you didn't have to be someone's best friend to sign a yearbook. He finally understood, at least in part, what she meant when she said that she felt invisible, like if she didn't exist anymore, no one would notice.
"See! You're looking at me like… like you feel sorry for me being pathetic. I know it's pathetic. But I really want them to sign my yearbook. So they'll have to find out."
"I'm not looking at you any way." He made a face when he realized she was annoyed because he really did look sad. "Okay… I was making a face. But I just feel sad… not because you're pathetic… but because you feel that way. No one cares how many signatures you have."
"If they say anything to you… can we go home?"
"I promise. But they won't. That's not what friends do."
"Okay fine." She agreed, and took the bag of gifts with her as they walked around back.
"Spencer, Toby!" Hannah smiled and ran over and hugged them both, with a Smirnoff bottle in her hand, splashing around as she hugged them. Spencer smiled and waved at Caleb, Holden, and Aria as she walked in. Caleb was already pouring her shots of Fireball. "You up for more again?" he smiled as she got closer.
"Uhm… yes, but before everyone gets too drunk I just have a little something…" she pulled the little boxes out of the bag and handed them out to everyone. She got a notebook with prompts in it for Aria and for Caleb, who were more the creative types, and she got coffee tumblers for Hanna and Holden. "Just something little for graduation… it's no big deal." She felt her cheeks turn red hot, she was afraid of their reactions as she played with her sweatshirt zipper.
"Oh my god, I love this!" Hanna yelled, nearly tossing the glittery tumbler in the air.
"This was so thoughtful…" Aria was flipping through the pages.
"You didn't have to do this…" Caleb also looked through his book.
"Awesome… thank you."
Caleb handed her a shot and Toby gripped her shoulder, leaning in close. "Told you." He whispered.
"You've just all been really great friends this year… it really, it's the least I could do. But enough with being sappy. We can go back to drinking now." She smiled and took the shot from Caleb, and they cheers'd, and shot it back.
"Wait wait wait… not done being sappy yet. Yearbooks! I almost forgot!" Hanna ran inside to grab hers, and put it on the patio table. "Everyone put out your books so we can all take turns."
Spencer gulped. "Okay," she did, and grabbed one from the table to write in herself. She slowly flipped through Aria's, and saw the pages filled with short notes to have a great summer, and good luck in college. Then she flipped to her own picture among the hundreds of senior portraits, and sucked in her breath when she saw her named crossed out, with a fat marker writing "PROSTI-TUTOR" over it. She looked around, no one else seemed to notice anything. She bit her lip, afraid to burst out crying, and embarrassed for when Aria finally saw it. She was sure Aria didn't do it, but someone did when she passed it around at school, and it pierced right through her. She took her own pen and tried to cross it out, but instead she just flipped past it quickly and wrote the message she'd thought about since the other day – the one that thanked Aria for her friendship and encouragement this year, for standing up for her, and being such a good friend. And how she knew she would thrive at art school, and couldn't wait to see what the future held – for her, and for Holden with her.
As she flipped through the yearbooks, she was relieved to see Caleb and Holden's didn't have the same message defacing her portrait. She signed their yearbooks with inside jokes from the last year, telling Caleb to always bring the Fireball and Holden to keep his free spirit and parties were always more fun when he was around. But when she got Hanna's, the same message appeared. She ignored it and signed the yearbook anyway, chugging back drinks and ignoring the laughing and chattering around her, zoning in on the book. She wrote to Hanna about how happy she was that they'd become friends, and how she couldn't wait to buy clothes with Hanna's label on it, because she knew she would make it big designing. She loved her, and her free spirit and protective nature, and knew they'd be friends for a long time.
And then she got Toby's, and she frantically flipped to her portrait page to see in even bigger letters the same "PROSTI-TUTOR," along with "UGLY SLUT" and "LYING WHORE"
She shut the book and quickly excused herself into the house. After a while, Aria came inside to use the bathroom and found Spencer crying inside. "Hey… what's the matter? You've been quiet all night." She sat on the edge of the tub next to Spencer, who was sitting on the toilet seat. She rubbed Spencer's back.
"I'm fine" she quickly got up and splashed water on her face.
"Is this about Toby leaving for camp in a few days? I know it's sudden but it's only for like, a week and a half. We can hang out like, every day. You won't even miss him. Well, barely."
"No, no… it's fine. I'm not upset about that." She chewed her lip. "Someone… maybe Alison, maybe someone else… wrote in all of your yearbooks that I'm a prostitute tutor, because of the rumors about Toby and I… and… I don't want to be remembered for just that. I was really excited to sign yearbooks and then I saw that…"
"That's horrible… but Spencer, we won't remember you because of a stupid yearbook. We're friends. We're not going to have to look in a yearbook, you'll be here."
For now, Spencer thought, knowing that they'd all make new friends, and one day she would be lonely again. That they felt bad for her. That all anyone saw when they looked at her was the girl that tricked Toby into fucking her. And she liked being invisible better than that.
"I just didn't expect to see it… it's in Toby's too. He's going to freak out."
"Probably, but that's not your fault." Aria shrugged. "Come back outside, we'll put the books away and talk about something else. I think Hanna has cards and chips for poker.
She nodded. "I'll be out soon." She stepped out to let Aria use the restroom and rummaged through the kitchen looking for a snack or something to keep her mind off of everything. When Aria left, Toby came inside.
"Aria told me everything… you don't think I'm mad at you, do you?" she could tell he was fired up.
"No… but you are mad."
"Of course I'm mad, I'm not going to be okay with people calling you names."
"I'm just embarrassed… not only did they all see that no one else wanted to sign but that the whole school still thinks…" she teared up. "I don't care if people think I'm a slut. I fucked you before we had even gone on one date, when I thought there was no way in hell you'd ever like me… we hooked up for a loooong time before that. So if that makes me a slut, that's fine… that doesn't bother me. I can live with that. But I'm so tired of people assuming that the only reason you could ever be with someone like me, is if I put out so much, and did such kinky things that you couldn't resist…" she was full blown yelling and crying now, she might have been a little drunker than she meant to be. "I know how it looks with a jock dating someone whose invisible, and I know I am very lucky to have you… but I'm a person. I am a person just like everyone else and I deserve companionship too and it shouldn't be so hard to believe that someone wants to give it to me… I mean why do you think it was in Hanna and Aria's books… someone is legitimately mad that they are my friends… why is everyone not only shocked but hate me…can't accept that I'm not skipping lunch because the cafeteria gives me too much anxiety anymore."
"Shhhh… Spencer calm down." He rubbed her back. "I don't know why either… but fuck them. After tomorrow, they won't matter… not that they matter now, but you won't have to see them again… and they'll be the losers in 10 years when they realize their peak was when they were 17 years old."
"Why do you have to make sense…" she furrowed her brow. "I'm sorry it's childish, but I don't care that tomorrow is graduation… I still am just so… angry."
"Well I wish I could do something to change that." he kissed her.
She kissed back and dragged him upstairs to Hanna's bedroom and locked the door. "I think I can channel my energy somewhere else…"
"We shouldn't be here…" he looked around the Pepto-Bismol pink bedroom.
"Ooops," she raised an eyebrow, unbuttoning her shorts and wiggling them down.
"Well we did say later… and we'd both feel better." He kissed her and pushed her back on the bed, pulling out his member and rubbing it up and down her slit, becoming wetter and wetter with each move.
"Stooop," she whined, and he quickly pushed inside all at once, causing a yelp from her mouth with a little, pleased giggle. "Ooooh…"
"Is that what you wanted?" he gripped onto her breasts for support and leaned down to kiss her neck and face as she nodded and grazed his elbows and then his thighs as he stopped inside of her as moved his thumb down to rub her clit, quickly emitting small, quiet moans as she put her lip, and he finished, with her still locked tightly around him, quivering. They took a minute to breath, with him still resting inside of her as he came down, her center still pulsating from the quiet orgasm she was riding out.
"Toby… Spencer?" they heard yelling from downstairs and she looked up at him with a sly smile. "I think we better go downstairs before we get caught." She squeezed his arm. She made a small noise as he pulled out, and grabbed some Kleenex to clean up before quickly shimmying on her shorts. He kissed her and held her tight. "Better?"
"Much…" she smiled a little and they ran downstairs, running into Hanna at the bottom of the stairs.
"Oh god…" Hannah started uncontrollably laughing, and fixed Spencer's hair. "I found them… and on that note… I think it's time for the boys to go home."
Spencer fixed her own hair and bit her lip. "Sorry…" she said softly. "We were just…"
"Don't worry about it… just… tell us everything later." She smiled and pushed Toby out the door with Holden and Caleb.
"Spencer… stop worrying. I'll see you bright and early." He came back to kiss her forehead, whispering "Always" in her ear before waving to the rest, grabbing his Yearbook from Holden and heading out.
XX
Spencer took an extra long time in the bathroom, just breathing, before coming out to meet the girls in Hanna's room.
"Han, I'm so sorry about…"
"Hey it's not a party until someone gets laid." She shrugged. "But I did change the sheets… because, well, I love you guys and all but… ew."
"If it makes you feel better we didn't get in the bed… and it was like five minutes… okay, we can stop talking about this." She grabbed the cup Aria was holding out to her of Vodka and Sprite and took a big sip.
"Noooo… we want the details. And since you used my room, I think it's only fair."
"It's nothing… I was just a little tipsy… and we were teasing each other before we got here… and then I was upset and we got to kissing and he wanted to take my mind off… plus he's leaving in a few days."
Hanna grinned "Well you certainly did look happy, so I guess he's still pretty good?"
"Very…" she blushed and took another big sip.
"Well thank you for cleaning up after yourselves… I didn't find anything gross… like last time someone decided to leave a used condom in the tree house."
Aria blushed and made a face "Hey! I apologized for that already… and it was one time… a long time ago." She hit Hanna with a pillow.
"I'm just saying if you don't want to get caught take a hint from Toby and Spencer."
"I mean we did get caught, to be fair." Spencer laughed. "And we haven't been… I'm on the pill. So less to clean up." She blushed. "Which is also why we've been a little reckless with where we're… it wasn't premeditated or anything." She looked at Hanna and then to picking at the carpet.
"Spencer!" Hanna howled and Aria shook her head.
"Hanna why are you like this." She shook her head. "You're obsessed with everyone's sex life."
"Because it's juicy! Is it amazing?"
"It kind of is…" Spencer blushed and took another big sip. "Except in the movies and in the books they don't tell you that sometimes you feel like you're leaking for like a half hour after… and sometimes it's still a mess. Why don't they tell you that?" she laughed a little "Not that anything leaked on your bed."
"Like I said… I cleaned the sheets." She smiled "I'm on the pill too, but Caleb is paranoid that it doesn't really work since I was taking it before we were dating for my skin."
"Well I think it works… but we were a little paranoid too for a while." She chewed her lip. "Tell him you'll be fine."
"I'll just tell him to talk to Tobes…" she laughed, and Spencer blushed.
"I mean, Caleb is a good friend… but I don't want him to know…about… that stuff."
"I hate to tell you they already talk about sex… they all do." Aria piped in. "Holden told Caleb and Toby when we hooked up before my pants were even on." Aria laughed.
"Uggggh," Spencer covered her face.
"It's okay," Hanna laughed "It doesn't mean anything bad, its not like it's a one night stand… and even then, who cares? But you guys are like… really in love."
"We've only been dating for like…"
"More than half the school year, and flirting and hanging out before that." Aria interrupted. "You don't have to downplay it, we know how you guys are… and it's #goals."
Spencer blushed. "Yeah, until he goes away…"
"It's just for a week." Aria smiled. "He'll be back."
"No…we're all going away to school. He's going to be across the country. You're going to be almost an hour away, Hanna and Caleb will be in New York…Holden'll be a few hours away… I'm just nervous about it all."
"Spencer, your relationship is like… rock solid." Hanna raised an eyebrow. "I would hate it if Caleb weren't coming with me, but I wouldn't be scared. I've never seen anyone as protective as Toby is over you. He wouldn't cheat on you or anything."
"And we're all gonna still be friends… we aren't that far apart. We'll still hang out." Aria chimed in, quickly.
"I know… I just… I'm not good at making friends. And I just got used to not being lonely." She took another big swig.
"Spencer… I wouldn't be happy about you having sex in my bed if we weren't real friends… and you and Toby wouldn't still be so all over each other after all this time if it weren't real… you're practically attached at the hip. Who cares about new people? You have us."
"I guess so… so why don't we play a round of cards." Spencer changed the subject. The difference is that you all will make new friends, and I will be alone. And we'll all get busy. And Toby will be so worried about me every five minutes… that's why I'm nervous.
They dealt the cards, but ended up too drunk to play correctly and fell asleep, laughing about it, instead.
