Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh
Yami was awkwardly standing in the Motou living room while Yugi's grandfather, Solomon was starring at him from his seat in the well worn recliner while Yugi's mother bustled around in the kitchen clearly just trying to keep herself busy while she worked off some nervous energy. A digital camera resting with easy access on the counter.
"So, tell me Yami. What exactly do you and my grandson have planned for tonight?" Grandpa Motou asked the nervous teenager.
Yami cleared his throat in an effort to get rid of the lump that had lodged itself there. "Umm, well I thought for tonight that Yugi and I would just keep things a bit on the simple side. Just go and check out the school carnival. Play some games, eat some food. That sort of thing." Yami replied. In Yami's mind a dinner date and a movie was a way overdone cliché when it came to dating. Not only was it very expensive it honestly didn't scream to him as something either him or Yugi would want to do. Both him and Yugi did love games so the chance to play all the different games at the school carnival would be a lot of fun. And all the money Yami was going to wind up spending would be going to a good cause.
"Ah. And how long do you and my grandson intend to be out?" Grandpa Motou asked.
Yami didn't know if he should be more nervous or not by Mr. Motou not giving his feedback on what he thought of Yami's plans. By not commenting was Mr. Motou implying he thought it was a good plan or did he think it was a terrible idea? Oh great, now I'm worried that Yugi is going to hate what I have planned. "Ummm, well I know it isn't a school night, but I uh...I was still planning on having Yugi home by around nine. I have a 930 curfew of my own." Yami replied.
"Right. And it would be highly irresponsible of you to not have Yugi and yourself both home at a decent hour. Don't you agree Yami?" Mr. Motou asked, again the tone he was using putting Yami on edge for an inexplicable reason.
"Uh, yes Mr. Motou. You're absolutely right. That would be highly irresponsible." Yami replied.
Grandpa Motou nodded once in what Yami hoped was approval since he couldn't for the life of him think about what could possibly have been wrong with his answer, before he leaned forward his aged plum colored eyes narrowed as he fixed Yami with a hard stare, "Now, I think we've had enough easy questions. Why don't you begin by telling what exactly your intentions are with my grandson?" Mr. Motou asked.
Yami froze as his mind raced. His intentions towards Yugi? How was he supposed to answer that question? He and Yugi were friends. And yes, he thought Yugi was cute. And funny. And Yami thought it was a good idea to see if Yugi and him could end up being more than friends. But...that didn't really explain what exactly his intentions were towards Yugi. Is Mr. Motou looking for me to say that I'm in love with him? That I want to marry him? What is he even looking for as an answer because to be honest I don't know. Yami thought to himself as he mentally panicked. Were first dates always supposed to be this stressful? He was sixteen years old and believe it or not this was the first time he'd EVER been out on a date before.
"Ummm." Yami muttered as he tried to think of something to say.
Mrs. Motou chose this moment to reenter the living room, shooting Yami a kind smile not unlike the bright smiles her son was known for giving. "Dad, don't you think you're being a bit hard on him?" Mrs. Motou asked.
Solomon snorted although he had yet to look away from the fidgeting teen standing in front of him. "Of course not Katou, I'm looking out for Yugi's best interest. If Yugi's father were still here no doubt he and Yami would be having this conversation while he was cleaning his pistol at the table." Solomon said, pausing briefly before he addressed Yami once more, "And don't think I haven't noticed you didn't answer my question." Mr. Motou growled.
Mrs. Motou chuckled before she called up the stairs, "Yugi, are you ready yet? If you take much longer your grandfather is going to drive you date away."
"I'm coming mom. Tell Yami, I'll be right down." Yugi called back.
Mrs. Motou turned her attention back onto Yami, "Yugi will be down shortly. I will tell you he is very excited about going out with you. Hasn't been able to talk about much else since you asked him out on Tuesday." Mrs. Motou said.
Yami nodded, his gaze flicking away from Yugi's grandfather to rest on Yugi's mother, "I've been really looking forward to this to. We should have a lot of fun together." Yami said.
"I'm sure that you will dear." Mrs. Motou said.
"But not too much fun." Grandpa Motou interjected.
Yami could not help it, his face flushed a brilliant shade of red at the inference. "Uhh, well...uh...of course we won't...ummm" Yami sputtered out what he hoped was some sort of a semi coherent reply.
Yami was saved further humiliation by the sound of Yugi's feet pounding down the stairs. Yami finally felt like it was both safe and appropriate to fully turn his back on Yugi's grandfather to watch as Yugi came into the living room. Yugi was dressed in a nice, form fitting pair of dark wash blue jeans and a black t-shirt with the slogan 'Just Duel' on it. Yugi also, it appeared had gone through the effort of putting on eyeliner which further accentuated his gorgeous amethyst eyes.
Yugi smiled at Yami, not his normal bright smile that lights up a room, no this one was a bit more reserved. More shy. "Hey. Do I look alright?" Yugi asked, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink at the question.
"You look beautiful." Yami replied although when he heard Mr. Motou clear his throat Yami quickly amended his statement after awkwardly clearing his throat, "Uhh, I mean. You look great." Yami said.
Yugi smiled brightly, this time. "You look pretty handsome yourself Yami." Yugi replied.
Yami nodded as he fought to try and get the blush off his face. "Yeah, well we should probably get going." Yami said.
"Not before I take some pictures. It isn't every day that my baby goes out on his first date." Mrs. Motou interjected.
"Moooom!" Yugi whined, his cheeks turning a dark red color.
"Its just a few pictures Yugi. There is no harm in that. Now come and stand next to Yami and then you two can be on your way." Mrs. Motou replied.
Yugi sighed before he shuffled over to stand beside Yami. They both smiled for the camera as Mrs. Motou took several pictures before she was finally satisfied. "Alright, you kids are free to go. Be safe, and I'll see you when you get back." Mrs. Motou said.
"And I will be waiting for you." Mr. Motou growled.
Yami nodded, "Right. Yugi will be here by nine. I promise." Yami replied.
"Good. He better be." Mr. Motou growled.
Yugi rolled his eyes before he slipped his hand into Yami's and tugged him over towards the door. "Come on Yami, lets go." Yugi said.
The two walked somewhat awkwardly down the street towards Domino High School it seemed that for once neither boy knew exactly what they were supposed to say. Being on a date was so different than just hanging out with a friend. There was a pressure there that they had never dealt with before.
"So, uh...did you see the Duel Monsters Quarterfinal match that was on last night?" Yami asked. Duel Monsters was always a safe topic of conversation with Yugi since Yugi was completely obsessed with the game.
Yugi nodded, "Yeah. I did. It was absolutely amazing, and Bandit Keith when he flipped over that trap...I almost fell off the couch. I thought Mako was done for. Still don't know how he managed to turn it around. But man, that was a duel." Yugi said.
Yami chuckled, "And let me guess, you are still rooting for Mako to go all the way." Yami said.
Yugi nodded once more, "You BET I am! Mako is one of the best duelists in the entire world and he duels with such class. I'd love to see him finally win the world title." Yugi said.
Yami chuckled once more, "I don't know...I still think that Siegfried has a real shot this year." Yami replied.
Yugi nodded, "Yeah. His Valkerie deck is pretty amazing. I mean, I think a final match between Mako and Siegfried would be amazing." Yugi replied.
"Without a doubt." Yami replied.
The good news was that once they had managed to start talking it was like all their nerves had just faded away and the evening didn't really feel any different than the many other times they had hung out together, although come to think of it they had never hung out together just the two of them before.
Yami nodded, "the school is just up ahead. And if I remember correctly the carnival was set up in the cafeteria." Yami said.
Yugi nodded, "Yup, and its supposed to be a ton of fun." Yugi said.
Yami chuckled, "That was why I decided that we should check it out tonight." Yami replied.
Yugi gave Yami a cheeky grin before he started darting down the sidewalk, "Last one there is a rotten egg." Yugi called out over his shoulder. Yami chuckled as he started racing down the sidewalk after Yugi, with his longer legs it didn't take much for him to catch up to Yugi and ultimately overtake him in the race. And the pout on Yugi's face when he finally came to a stop beside Yami who was leaning casually against the wall was absolutely adorable.
"No fair, your legs are longer than mine." Yugi mumbled.
Yami snorted, "And you had a head start." Yami pointed out.
"Not that it was enough." Yugi replied.
Yami chuckled, "Maybe in the future it might not be a good idea to challenge people to a foot race Yugi. Running is most definitely not your strong suit." Yami said.
"Noted. Now, lets get inside and check this carnival out." Yugi said as he grabbed Yami's hand and began to tug him into the school.
The school carnival was certainly nothing really fancy. The different classes had all voted on and designed their own stalls and the staff had also designed a few of their own. The point of the fundraiser was to raise enough money to hopefully redo leaky roof over the gymnasium. "So, what do you want to check out first Yugi?" Yami asked as he glanced around the cafeteria.
"Lets check out the games first Yami!" Yugi declared.
Yami chuckled, he really should have guessed that would be Yugi's suggestion. Yugi loved games. Duel Monsters may have been his all time favorite game, but Yugi loved games in general. It didn't matter what game it was Yugi loved it. The first stall the pair made their way over to was a giant wall of balloons which was being manned by a bored looking Atemu.
Yami grinned, "Hey Ate, you got the opening night shift?" Yami asked.
Atemu nodded, "So it appears. I still don't know how I let myself be volunteered for this but whatever. Not like I had anything better to do tonight." Atemu replied.
"True." Yami replied.
Atemu just shook his head in fond bemusement, "So, how many darts would you two lovebirds like? Its 1 dart for a quarter 5 darts for a dollar." Atemu rattled off.
"I guess we can do ten darts to start." Yami replied before adding, "Five each."
"Okay. That'll be two dollars." Atemu said as Yami dug out his wallet and handed Atemu two dollars. Atemu shoved the two dollars into the donations box that had been set up on the stand before he counted out ten darts. "Prizes are determined by what color paint comes out when you pop one of the balloons. And before you ask, no I don't remember what color paint is where." Atemu said.
Yami nodded, "Sounds interesting. Well, Yugi, you throw first." Yami said.
Yugi nodded as he stepped up so he was standing right next to the edge of the booth, his eyes screwed up in concentration before he tossed the first dart, which barely missed a yellow balloon just off center on the board. Yugi pouted briefly before he picked up his second dart and took aim once more, this time just missing a red balloon. "This game is harder than I thought." Yugi muttered.
Yami chuckled, "Carnival games often are. They look simple but they are deceptively challenging." Yami replied.
"I'll still win." Yugi vowed before he threw his third dart, missing once again.
"So close." Atemu commented as he watched Yugi throw the darts.
"That's enough out of the peanut gallery." Yugi muttered before he tossed his fourth dart and missed again.
"Its alright Yugi, you can still win a prize. All it takes is one dart. I believe in you." Yami said.
Yugi nodded, "Right. I can do this!" Yugi muttered before he tossed his fifth and final dart...missing once more.
"Better luck next time. Next up." Atemu called out.
Yugi pouted, "Dang it! I wanted to win that Dark Magician Plushie." Yugi muttered pointing to the dark magician sitting in among the stack of prizes.
Yami sighed, "Fine. Then you'll get it." Yami declared before he stepped up to the line himself. "What color paint do I have to reveal to get the Dark Magician plushie?" Yami asked.
"Black or purple. And there is one black filled balloon and two purple ones on the board." Atemu replied.
"Okay. So, I just have to get really lucky then." Yami replied before he tossed his first dart. His first one was a little bit wide, missing a yellow balloon.
"You can do it Yami!" Yugi declared.
Yami threw once again, and this time his dart found its mark, popping a red balloon, which was filled with yellow paint. Yami threw his third dart, nailing a blue balloon at the top of the board but that one was filled with red paint. Yami's fourth dart missed. "Come on, purple or black!" Yami muttered before he tossed his last dart...popping another blue balloon, this one filled with blue paint.
"And we have a winner. Nice throwing." Atemu declared.
Yami shot Atemu a dark look, "very funny." Yami muttered before he dug out his wallet and pulled out two more dollars, "Ten more darts! Yugi wants that Dark Magician and I'll win if for him." Yami vowed.
And so it continued. Yami only hit 6 out of his next ten throws and still didn't reveal a balloon with purple or black paint. Two yellow paint filled ones, another blue, a green, a white and a pink. Yami dug back into his wallet and pulled out two more ones. "Another ten darts Atemu." Yami said.
Atemu rolled his eyes, "You do know that other people might want to play this game right, and I'd rather not have to change out the board tonight." Atemu muttered as he handed Yami the ten darts, a few of which were paint splattered.
"Well, tough because I'm not leaving until I win Yugi that prize." Yami declared.
Atemu just shrugged, "Its your money but fine. Go ahead." Atemu replied.
And so Yami continued playing. He spent 16 dollars in total before he finally popped a purple paint filled balloon. "Yes!" Yami shouted when the green balloon gushed purple paint down the board.
"Well, would you look at that. Looks like you won your prize." Atemu said before he handed Yami the Dark Magician plushie. Yami grinned before he handed the Dark Magician over to Yugi who smiled brightly as he hugged the stuffed animal tightly to his chest.
"Thank you for winning this for me Yami." Yugi said.
Yami shrugged, "No problem. Now, what would you like to check out next?" Yami asked.
"Umm, I'm kind of hungry. Maybe we could go and grab something to eat." Yugi said.
Yami nodded, "Okay, lets go check out what food they have." Yami replied before he lead the way over to the food stalls, Yugi's hand once more slipping into Yami's as they walked the other firmly gripping the hard won Dark Magician plushie.
"Alright Yugi, it looks like our choices are: popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes, or corn dogs." Yami rattled off as he glanced around at the food stalls.
"Hmmm, we should probably grab a corn dog before he get something sweet." Yugi said.
"Okay, two corn dogs, coming up!" Yami said before he walked up and after waiting in a short line bought two corn dogs for five dollars each. "Alright, here you go Yugi." Yami said as he handed Yugi the corn dog and the two took a seat at one of the cafeteria tables that was still set up.
Yami bit into his corn dog and was relieved that it at least tasted halfway decent. He would have been disappointed if he had spent ten bucks on a rubberized corn dog. "So, are you having fun Yugi?" Yami asked.
Yugi nodded, "Yup, I sure am! This was a great idea Yami. I'm glad you suggested it." Yugi said.
Once the two had finished eating their corn dogs they got back up to explore the rest of the carnival. Yami chuckled when he pointed out a haunted house set up in the corner of the cafeteria. "Will you look at that?" Yami said.
Yugi rose a brow, "Isn't it a bit out of season for a haunted house? I mean...its April. Don't they know Halloween is in October?" Yugi asked.
Yami nodded, "I'm sure they do. But if you look at whose running it maybe you won't be so surprised." Yami said.
Yugi glanced over again and paled slightly, "Akefia and Marik's class actually let them design a HAUNTED HOUSE. Are they nuts?" Yugi asked.
Yami chuckled, "Akefia and Marik? To be honest I have wondered that myself." Yami replied.
Yugi lightly knocked his shoulder against Yami's side, "Be nice Yami. But yes, I do know that whatever haunted house they designed is going to be scary." Yugi said.
"So, do you want to check it out? Or would you rather pass?" Yami asked.
Yugi seemed to think for a moment before he said, "I mean, it can't hurt to check it out." Yugi conceded.
Yami nodded before he slung an arm around Yugi's shoulders, "And don't worry. I'll protect you from whatever Akeifa and Marik managed to put together. You'll be perfectly safe with me." Yami declared.
Yugi nodded, "Good. Knowing those two I'll need it." Yugi replied.
The two made their way over where a bored looking Ryou was sitting out front, "Hey Yugi! Hey Yami! How are you guys doing tonight?" Ryou asked.
"We're doing good. So, how much to walk through Akeifa and Marik's hall of horror?" Yugi asked.
Ryou sighed, "Ten bucks. Each. And before you ask, yes I know that's insane. But the deranged duo set the price and crazier still people have actually paid it. I've raised more than 100.00 so far tonight." Ryou said.
"Well, you have two more victims." Yami said as he dug out twenty bucks which he handed to Ryou.
Ryou nodded before he shoved the money into the donations box before he stood up, "Alright, follow me." Ryou said as he led Yugi and Yami through the black curtain and into a room that was pitch black. "Not that will really make too much of a difference but I have to ask you guys to put on these blindfolds. Don't ask, Marik and Akefia came up with the idea. Malik will lead you guys through the haunted house. Just hold onto the rope and I can either have a rope go between you two or you can hold onto each other. Up to you." Ryou said.
"I'll just hold Yami's hand Ryou." Yugi said.
"Okay. Blindfolds on. Good luck." Ryou replied before Yami heard his footsteps fade. He squeezed Yugi's hand in reassurance.
"FRESH MEAT!" Malik shouted before he began to tug on the rope leading Yugi and Yami through the haunted house.
Yami was confused to be honest. The point of a haunted house is to freak a person out with jump scares and surprises around every corner...but by blindfolding them they were taking away the whole point of a haunted house.
Or at least that was what he had thought a first before the tour had begun. By robbing them of their sense of sight they were forced to rely solely on their hearing to know what was going on around them. Which meant that the jumps were even more intense, since in addition to the creepy music someone would just suddenly shout or in some cases hiss boo right next to them and they didn't even know they were there.
Yami thought Akefia actually ended up getting lucky that Yami didn't end up hitting him when the bastard screamed right next to him without any warning. At the very least he certainly jumped a foot in the air.
It didn't take them two long to go through the haunted house and Yami would be lying if he said he wasn't relieved to be back out in the light again.
"So, did you guys enjoy it?" Ryou asked once they had exited.
"It was actually scarier than I was expecting. Why the blindfolds?" Yami asked.
Ryou shrugged, "Akeifa and Marik said it was a low budget way to up the fear factor without having to worry about a ton of creepy props or costumes or messing with the lighting too much. No one in there is wearing any costumes but you get just as big of a fright as you would in a traditional haunted house just by taking away your eyes." Ryou said.
"That...is really clever actually." Yugi said.
"What can I say, the deranged duo is quite proud of this little idea of theirs." Ryou replied.
Yugi and Yami waved good-bye to Ryou before they headed back over to the food section where Yami bought them two funnel cakes for another 5 dollars each.
"So, is there anything else you would like to check out while we're here?" Yami asked. It was right around 8 o'clock, so they still had a little bit of time before they had to start walking back to Yugi's house.
"Ummm, we can start to head back if you want. You've already spent a ton of money as it is tonight." Yugi said.
Yami shrugged, "It hasn't been too bad." Yami said.
"You've spent almost 60 dollars so far." Yugi pointed out.
Yami shrugged once more, "The money goes to a good cause. Besides, that isn't really any less than I would have spent if we'd gone to get dinner and then see a movie." Yami replied.
Yugi sighed, "I guess you have a point." Yugi said.
The pair finished up their funnel cakes before they headed back towards Yugi's house. Yugi came to a stop however and tugged Yami's hand across the road, "But, since we still have time, maybe we can take a loop through the park before we walk back." Yugi said.
Yami nodded, "We can do that." Yami agreed.
So, the pair detoured through the park, walking hand in hand. It was very peaceful and Yami found himself really enjoying the quiet, just him and Yugi walking under the star filled sky. Sadly, they didn't have as long to enjoy the walk through the park as they would have liked because they did need to make sure Yugi was home by 9.
They came to a stop outside Yugi's front door at 856 pm. Yugi gave Yami a bright smile as he hugged his Dark Magician plushie to his chest. "I had a great time with you tonight Yami." Yugi said.
Yami smiled, "I had a lot of fun too Yugi. We should do this again sometime." Yami said.
"Agreed." Yugi mumbled.
"Well, have a good night Yugi." Yami said before he turned to walk away. Yugi lightly grabbed Yami's wrist, making Yami turn back.
"Yugi?" Yami asked.
"You aren't really good at this dating thing, are you Yami?" Yugi replied before he leaned up on his tip toes and pressed his lips against Yami's. This kiss was simple as it was sweet.
However, the moment was shattered when Yugi's grandfather yanked open the door, "What do you two boys think your doing?" He had growled.
Yami shook his head, trying to force the thought from his mind. Yes, he and Yugi had been great when they first started out. And Yami loved spending time with his Little Aibou. But, the fact remained that that time was over.
"Are you alright Yami?" Atemu asked.
Yami nodded, "Yes, I am. I just got lost in my thoughts." Yami said.
"You were thinking about Yugi, weren't you?" Atemu said.
Yami sighed, "Yes. I was and before you say it I know its stupid. Yugi and I are done. We're in the past and I'm not saying that is a bad thing. When we were good together we were good. Great even. But when everything fell apart it really fell apart. And there was no fixing it. I know I'm not one to normally give up but even I had to recognize that Yugi and my relationship was broken beyond repair." Yami said.
Atemu was quiet for a few moments, "So, have you put any further thoughts into what is going to happen after you get released?" Atemu asked.
Yami sighed, "You mean when I finally get released from here. Who knows when that'll even be. I mean right now I can't even stand up, I have no feeling in my legs as well as my several other injuries and I'm so high on painkillers its a miracle that I can even function." Yami said.
Atemu sighed as well, "No one said that this was going to be easy Yami. The best things in life rarely are but together we can get through this." Atemu said.
Yami rolled his eyes, "I have no idea what part of this situation could be considered to the best things in life but fine, I'll bite since you clearly want me to ask. What do you think I should do once I finally get released from here?" Yami asked.
Atemu was quiet for a moment, "Well, I was actually thinking that you could stay with me. I have maintained the rent on my apartment even though I had been staying with my dad for the last few months. Seto said that he is doing great with the home health aide which means that I don't have to stay there with him. If you stay with me Yami I'll be able to help you around the clock." Atemu said.
Yami sighed, "And that is a really sweet offer, really Ate it is. But, honestly you don't have to do that. I'm sure that I'll be able to just stay with my parents and you can come by and visit every now and then." Yami said.
Atemu paused for a moment, "You are welcome to stay with your parents if that is where you would feel more comfortable Yami. It is of course up to you. I just thought that...never mind. Like I said, its up to you." Atemu said.
This time it was Yami who fell silent for a moment while he thought about what Atemu had offered. On the one hand Yami didn't want to be a burden to his friend not to mention if any of their former friends found out that Yami was staying with Atemu Yami was absolutely certain there would be hell to pay for Atemu. But on the other hand, did he really want to constantly be putting his parents through hell as they tried to help him through what would no doubt be a daily struggle. "Is that what you really would want Atemu? You know if any of the others find out about it that they'll give you hell." Yami said.
Atemu shrugged, "Let them. Joey and I are long overdue to hash things out between us anyway. You are my best friend and it is my apartment. It is MY choice to have you stay with me and no one else has any right to tell me that I can't have you stay with me. Besides, as a physical therapist I'll be able to help you with all the daily exercises you'll need to do. And I think I might be better qualified to provide you with the in home help that you'll need than your parents would. Nothing against them, I just think I would be more qualified." Atemu said.
Yami sighed once more before he nodded, "Fine, Ate. You win. If this is really what you want to do then I'm not going to refuse. Looks like you've got yourself a roommate." Yami said.
Atemu grinned, "That's great. I know Bastet will be happy." Atemu said.
Yami rolled his eyes, "Of course as always everything comes down to that blasted cat." Yami muttered.
Atemu snorted, "And you know you love that cat almost as much as I do. And don't you deny it." Atemu said.
"Fine. I won't bother." Yami muttered.
"Great." Atemu said before he pulled out his phone and quickly sent a text before he pocketed the device.
"Who did you text and why?" Yami asked.
"If you must know, I texted Seto and told him that you agreed to stay with me and to please get a spare bed set up in my apartment and also texted him some other things that I'll need. I figured that you wouldn't want to share my bed so like I said, Seto will pick up a nice spare one for you." Atemu said.
Yami quirked a brow, "What is Seto your errand boy now?" Yami asked. He did his best to ignore the comment about sharing a bed with Atemu, since he knew that Atemu was just teasing him. But for some reason the comment made his heart beat that little bit faster in his chest. He had not forgotten about the dream he'd had back in April either. And he'd be lying if he said he hadn't thought a lot about Atemu in the five months that he'd been gone. But, he and Atemu were just friends. Nothing more, nothing less.
Atemu snorted, "No, my cousin is not my errand boy. More than likely I give him the list of things I need and he'll send Isono or one of his other staff to actually run the errands. But still, I consider it the same as him doing it himself." Atemu replied.
"You are so demanding." Yami muttered.
Atemu chuckled, "Would you have me any other way?" Atemu asked.
"You mean other than a demanding, bossy, arrogant ass? No, I guess not. Then again, I've never known you to be any different." Yami teased.
Atemu burst out laughing and after a few minutes Yami couldn't help but to join him. It felt good to be able to laugh with Atemu like this. It almost made it so he could forget what a mess his life was right now.
There was a time when he was younger where he believed that with Atemu beside him he could have faced any challenge no matter what. And that childish belief was making a comeback.
He just hoped that he wasn't wrong and that he really could trust his friend. Atemu did have a point, helping people recover from injuries such as these WAS sort of his job. But, he just hoped that this wasn't going to be one of those things where even Atemu wasn't able to achieve the impossible.
