Chapter 1

An Unusal Problem

Percy took a deep breath of the fresh air of Camp Half-Blood. Although he spent most of the last months in Camp Jupiter`s College studying together with Annabeth he still sees Camp Half-Blood as home. As Percy and Annabeth finished their first year of college, they decided to spent the next week in the Camp. Because it was summer the Camp is filled with people, some of which are new Demigods and others are Halfbloods that have been there for years.

It was quite late at this point and everyone was probably sitting around the campfire singing songs and making marshmallows they still decided to go tot he main building in case Chiron or Mr D were there. Because it was unlikely to meet either of them they were confused as they saw both Chiron and Mr D. sitting at a table looking very concerned. „What do you think they are talking about?", Annabeth asked, as Chiron normally is with the other campers at the campfire. Percy shrugged his shoulders as they approched them. Before they were in hearing distance, Mr D stopped talking and Chiron turned around, putting up a smile but still showing great concern in his eyes. „Percy, Annabeth", he said. „We didnt think we`d see you two before tomorrow" „Well, I`m sorry to disappoint you", Percy answered with a big grin on his face. Chiron looked like he was about to say something, when Annabeth interrupted him: „What were you and Mr D talking about?" Chirons grin disappered. „You had a long journey. You should really go to bed now."

In the next morning, after being greeted by everyone and almost being hugged to death by Tyson Percy and Annabeth decided to ask Chiron about hi stalk with Mr D. „Chiron", Annabeth said. „Why did you seem so concerned yesterday?" Chiron sighed. „I wasnt thinking you would leave it be with yesterdays conversation-"

„conversation?", Annabeth said. „We barely even talked!"

„-but I didnt want to tell you bad news right at your arrival. But i might as well tell you now: We havent been attacked by monsters for the last four days."

„Isnt that a great thing?", Percy asked. „I dont see a problem with all monsters being gone."

„That is the problem, Percy", Chiron said, still with very much concern in his voice. „They are not gone. They just go to a certain spot in Brooklyn. "

„All of them?", Annabeth asked, now also with concern. Chiron nodded. „Yesterday Mr D and I were talking about sending a few campers over there as we expect quite a large group of Halfbloods being the reason for all of these monsters."

„We can go!", Percy said, not thinking about that this was Annabeths and his free time they wanted to spend in Camp Half-Blood hanging out with their friends. He looked over to Annabeth, but she seemed OK with it. „We were thinking about sending three campers over", Chiron said. „And we already have Will wanting to go over there in case some of them are severly injured."

„I never was any good at Math", Percy said. „But Annabeth, Will and me are three people. So is Argus driving us over or…" „Yes, indeed. You better start now as we dont know how long the whole operation will take."

A few moments later they sat in the back seat of the car together with Will Solace. Percy decided to start a conversation: „So… anything interesting happened while we werent there?"

„No, not really.", Will replied. Not the greatest start to a conversation ,Percy thought.

After a bit more aquward silence they arrived at their destination: A big brick building. As they left the car they saw yellow dust everywhere, telling them that this was not a peaceful area. As they came closer tot he entrance of the building the amount of yellow dust increased. „This is not good", Will mumbled. As soon as they entered, a moody, death-like smell hit them. They heard a child crying upstairs. „This looks like a trap.", Annabeth said. Percy activated Riptide as they all slowly peeked around the corner they heard the noise from. To their surprise there really was a boy, who couldnt be above twelve years old sitting in the corner of a room, that at some point could have been his bedroom. As soon as the little boy saw Percy, Annabeth and Will (and probably Percys sword) his eyes filled with shock. Annabeth, who as always was several steps ahead of Percy started talking. „You dont have to worry", she said, trying to sound as nice as possible. „We are here to help you" The boy looked reliefed, although Percy still saw the fear in his eyes. The boy stood up and emerged from the shadow. He was about the size Percy was when he was twelve, but way skinnier. He had short and dirty brown hair, pale skin and a lot of scratches covering his face, arms and hands. „Whats your name?", Annabeth asked. „M-My name is Benjamin",stuttered Benjamin. „Are you good? Any bad injuries?", Will asked. „N-No." Percy didnt even had to ask himself if he had a Demigod standing in front of him. Even he could feel immense amounts of power this little boy had. „No worries, Benjamin", Percy said, smiling. „There is a place for people like you. People like us. A camp for Halfbloods."
