Another story begins. Another universe shows itself.
Reimu Hakurei, the Shrine Maiden of Paradise, dressed in her usual red and white garb, is walking down the road to the Human Village.
She and her best friend, Marisa Kirisame the "Ordinary Magician" dressed like a western witch as usual, heard about the sightings of shady men dressed in unusual clothes. She was going to ask around about these sightings.
She didn't like it, this sounded like the beginning of an Incident.
At Suzunaan, the local book rental store where one can find some of the most unusual tomes out there, Reimu and Marisa were talking to the girl who works there: Kosuzu Motoori.
"I saw them. They came here and read many books." Kosuzu said.
"Really? What books did they read?" Reimu asked.
"These books over there." Pointed Kosuzu towards a small pile. Which Reimu was quick to look over. The kind of books in the pile greatly concerned her.
Many were books about how to deal with youkais, others were about information regarding many key areas such as the Scarlet Devil Mansion, the Myouren Temple and even the Underground Reactor. "Why would they read about that?" Reimu wondered out loud. "Maybe they're just going sightseeing?" Marisa mockingly replied. "If they're just sightseeing, then why would they read this book?" Reimu asked as she showed her friend a book titled All About Escapology. "Okay, maybe they didn't read these book for some sightseeing." Marisa admitted.
Reimu then decided that she should get a good description of these men from Kosuzu.
From what Reimu could gather from Kosuzu's description, they must've been from the Outside World. They were also all wearing masks except for one man, who was wearing a trench coat.
And with that, she and Marisa were off. But not before warning Kosuzu to be wary of these men.
By the time they made it back to the Hakurei Shrine, the Sun was already starting to set.
"So what now, Reimu?" Asked Marisa. "We question the uninvited guest at the shrine" Said Reimu as she turned to where reality was opening itself in a tear that was stitched on the edges by a pair of ribbons. Inside the hole was a void full of eyes that were staring right at them. And out of that hole came a blonde lady with a mob cap with a red ribbon on it. She was wearing a white dress with a purple tabard. Her name was Yukari Yakumo, and she was the Youkai of Boundaries and one of the more publically active Sages of Gensokyo. And since she's STILL super secretive, that's saying something about the Sages.
"Well since you were doing your own investigation, I might as well go straight to the point, Reimu." Said Yukari while leaning out of her gap.
"You have every right to be suspicious about these newcomers. See this?" She said as she held what seemed to be a strange metal dart.
"I think I saw one of these at Kourin's place. Didn't take him long to figure out that it was meant to be shot from a gun." Marisa pointed out. "I think it's supposed to have some kind of liquid inside. So what was in it?"
"A powerful sleeping drug. Enough to even put me to sleep for at least three days. I don't know where they found that, but I know they intended to use it on me. But I saw it coming and caught it in a gap. But I still faked being hit to not raise suspicion from them. This allowed me to learn about their plans without their knowledge. Listen well, we cannot allow even their first move to be a success." Said Yukari as she urged the two girls to listen.
"They're planning on destroying the peace you two and us Sages have worked so hard to attain before destroying Gensokyo itself in it's entirety. They will start by striking fear into the hearts of the residents by striking at many well known spots and crippling many powerful factions. Their first target will be the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and I need you two to make sure they never make it to the gates." Informed Yukari.
"What? You believe they don't stand a chance against them or something? I never thought you expected so little of them." Said Reimu.
"If the younger sister gets involved in the battle, I doubt the invaders would stand a chance. But I am not worried that they might take them down. I am worried that they will attract too much attention." Yukari's eyes narrowed. "It would be better if you make sure no one would ever know what they were up to...I believe you both know what I mean and that you will do the right thing when the time comes."
Reimu and Marisa knew EXACTLY what Yukari meant. And they weren't going to hesitate. They did this before, many times in fact, and they are willing to do it again. For the sake of Gensokyo and it's peace.
That night, many masked men and a man in a trench coat were just about to launch an assault on the notorious Scarlet Devil Mansion. They were loaded with guns, explosives, garlic, powerful water guns and a couple of silver knives and a shotgun for the leader. They were already boarding their truck.
"Tonight, they will finally see the truth. We will destroy this lie they call peace." Said the leader.

"I Don't think so, pal. Master Spark!"
But then, a huge beam destroyed the truck and killed everyone inside. The resulting explosion killing and mortally injuring many more.
"WHAT?!"
Reimu and Marisa then landed and proceeded to kill all the masked men. Reimu by throwing needles into their throats and Marisa by cutting them in half with lasers. Finishing off the wounded while they were at it.
"KILL THEM ALL!" Yelled the leader.
When the four got too close, Reimu crushed the skull of one with her Gohei before knocking another one's head off with a swing of her Gohei while Marisa made one swallow an explosive vial before throwing him on the other. The explosion also took out the remaining masked men.
And just like that, there was only one left. And he was PISSED!
"DAMN YOU!" Yelled the leader as he pulled his shotgun and a knife. Firing in the two girls' direction.
But they flew out of the way and Reimu threw a homing amulet on the shotgun, jamming it.
"GODDAMN YOU!" Said the leader as he rushed in to fight them in close quarters.
He swung his now useless shotgun at Reimu's head three times, but she blocked it with her Gohei all three times before striking back with enough force to break the gun in half.
He then swung his knife at Marisa's neck, but she ducked out and knocked the knife out of his hand with her broom.
"You BITCH! You'll die for this!"
He then grabbed the small witch, ready to slam her down on his knee to break her back. But Reimu punched him right in the solar plexus, making him drop Marisa who wasted no time kneeing him in the face.
"Why you little bitch, I was saving you last! You'll WISH you were dead!"
When he tried to grab Reimu to try the same trick, she just flew out of reach. Marisa did not hesitate to punch him in the face while poking his eye with her thumb Dio style.
"ARGH!"
Reimu then followed up with a flying kick to the back of his head, knocking him towards Marisa who then gave him an uppercut to the chin.
"GAH!"
As he was still reeling from the pain, the two girls proceeded to beat him senseless before snapping his arms and legs.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGHH!"
And with that, he was at their mercy.
"Argh...You do realize you just proved my point, right? That good is an illusion and that humans are all naturally evil. And certainly, youkais aren't any bet-" But Marisa decked him in the face, interrupting him.
"Huh? I don't see any youkais around. And if you think we're the definition of what humans are, you must've been living under a rock!" Mocked Marisa.
"The definition of what humans are? That would be me, the one who made the wise choice to stop pretending to be good and embrace the truth called evil. You will know me as the Outside World knows me: I am-" But Reimu kicked him in the face, interrupting him yet again.
"What are you talking about? Two killers killed over a dozen more killers. Nothing about your twisted ideals were proven tonight. I admit, we both are murderers just like you, but we don't define what the other humans are like. Kosuzu is kind, you should know since you read her books. And Marisa is right, there are no youkais here, only humans. And the best part? No one will know what happened here, no one will even know you existed. Admit it, you lost." Said Reimu.
By then, he was fuming with rage. He tried to bite them in the throat but it was useless, he couldn't reach them. All of his cold demeanor from before the fight was gone, all that was left was an inhuman, raging beast. And that is when the girls went in for the kill.
"DAMN YOU, GODDAMN YOU! YOU BI-" SNAP Reimu and Marisa both snapped this sociopath's neck.
And just like that, he fell to the ground. Dead.

The next morning, Reimu and Marisa were enjoying a nice morning sake to celebrate a job well done.
"By now, no one will be able to tell that a truck was destroyed or that people died back there. You can thank me later." Said Yukari as she showed up.
"With that only you two and us Sages will ever know they were here. Not even Chen will know." Said Yukari.
"What about Yuyuko?" Asked Reimu.
"...Only you two, us Sages and Yuyuko will ever know they were here. Not even Chen or Youmu will know." Yukari corrected herself.
"But this is only the beginning, I know that many more foes will appear and attack Gensokyo." Yukari says.
"Well there's been many newcomers attacking, lately. So they should be no trouble." Reimu replied.
"But the newcomers you're talking about cared about the Spell Card Rules. The next newcomers couldn't care less about the Rules. And they will be much more powerful than the guys you just killed. Not helping matters is that they will target specific factions, including you and me. I don't know if you will have the time to assist the others. This will be a difficult trial for all of Gensokyo. I do hope that all of you will be able to overcome your respective foes. As for me, I have already planned how I'll deal with who I face." Said Yukari.
"Well they better remember that they will have to go back to the Rules once this is over..." Said Reimu with a sigh.
