A/N: So, it's been a while since I've written anything fanfiction... like close to a decade since I first wrote my initial story. So it's been a long while, to say the least.
For anyone hoping I'm gonna update my first story, sorry to disappoint you I won't be doing that.
It's a story that's hard for me to look back at as one of my early works as a writer... it's kind of awkward to continue because looking back at it is very cringing to me like looking back at a drawing I drew as a child.
The reason I've been gone so long is that I've been trying to find myself through different career paths that didn't pan out, the one I'm currently on is in a good place because as of a month ago I'm a journalism graduate on the honour roll.
Anyway enough about me, there has been an idea that has been brewing in my head recently that I want to put on 'paper' and has gotten to a point that I need to write.
It's an RWBY x Naruto story seeing how I'm posting this under those categories but there will be elements from other works I want to incorporate.
I can't say if this will be good or not and how consistent I'll be but I just want to start writing and have some sort of creative outlet/satisfaction. For right now, I'm just writing this for myself.
The story itself will have an element from my previous story like the main character, I still like the idea of the story's main character being focused on Minato Namikaze's fictional younger brother in my story, Naruto Namikaze.
I'm not a huge fan of Naruto's character but the idea or concept is what I enjoy. So what you'll see is a combination of my interpretation of him plus a little myself and more.
Naruto won't be happy go lucky, he'll be snarky, more aware, a little jaded and when the situation calls for it a bit of a badass.
Going to go a little multiverse theory approach to how he gets to Remnant (which I'm still trying to figure out) but I hope it's enjoyable.
With that said, let's get into this, shall we?
All Naruto and RWBY references are owned by Shonen Jump/Masashi Kishimoto and Rooster Teeth/Monty Oum respectfully.

Volume 0 Chapter 1: Indra's missing?! Remnant is calling
~ 3rd Person POV – Somewhere outside the walls of Konoha ~
It was a normal afternoon on a Tuesday of all days and Naruto Namikaze could be seen napping in his favourite tree outside of Konohagakure.
The 13-year old youth could be seen relaxing with his hands behind his head with his eyes closed.
Looks-wise Naruto's similarities to the fourth Hokage and his brother, Minato Namikaze were unnoticeable, when his eyes weren't close you would see his iconic cerulean blue eyes that anyone would find themselves lost in.
The teen was dressed in the black shirt under a sleeveless crimson red hoodie, the lower part of it had dancing white flames; a design that was reminiscent of his brother's iconic Hokage jacket, only the colours were reversed. He was wearing a pair of generic black shinobi pants and sandals.
Naruto had spiky blond hair like his brother but a bit on the shorter side, he didn't like growing out his hair too much, it irritated him to a point. He didn't know how Minato could stand it.
He was also, sporting a Konoha headband tied around his right bicep and a pair of trendy blue-lensed non-prescription glasses he liked wearing. While standing Naruto stood at a solid 5 feet.
If only he knew that his nap would be cut short. Fate had something in store for him very soon, which would change his current way of life... literally.
~ Naruto's POV ~
I like to think I'm no one special but that's hard when your older brother is the Fourth Hokage.
I got a lot of people expecting great things from me because my brother is the fourth Hkoage, a war hero and fastest man to grace us with his presence, so much so he earned the moniker of Konoha's Yellow Flash.
Expectations are that I'll carry that moniker as the 'second coming'... even though I don't want to do that. I want to create my legacy not hold onto the baton my brother gave me.
I said 'is' previously when I referred to my brother but I meant 'was.'
He sadly passed away but that jack ass had to go out like the badass ninja he is. I mean was, it's been six years and I haven't accepted his death.
Back then I was six-years-old at the time, an unknown assailant released Konoha's Biju, the Kyuubi no Yoko, a sentient beast with Nine tails who was made entirely of nature chakra. Even though it's a fox it has ears like rabbits for some odd reason.
Commentary aside, it was released from its host at the time, Kushina Uzumaki... my annoying sister-in-law. I know all this not from hearing about it but because I was there that night... I saw everything, including my precious older brother dying in my hands.
It still haunts me to this day but there was nothing I could have done to save him. He made the ultimate sacrifice, for the sake of the village... more lives would have been lost if he didn't do what he needed to do and for that, there is no doubt in my mind that he was and still is Konoha's greatest hero.
He's still shit at naming things, but no one... not even me can question is heroism.
To seal the fox away, he had to put seal it into a new host which was his newly born daughter, Mito Uzumaki, named after the First Hokage's wife and Kushina's jinchuriki predecessor.
The sealing was done through an Uzumaki sealing technique that has a huge asterisk to it.
Anyone who uses the Dead Demon Consuming Seal technique sacrifices their life to the Shinigami with his soul keeping the death god company for all eternity.
I get goosebumps thinking of thinking back on that day, it's not what I call a happy memory.
Not everything was sad about that day I guess. If Kushina was not an Uzumaki she would have died from that fox being sucked out of her. Must be nice to have some never die attitude type of genes.
After the yang part of the fox was sealed into my brother, moments later the fox aimed one of his claws for the couple. By instinct I pushed her out of the way, it was like I saw a vision of it in my head before it happened.
I could only save one and knowing at the time, my brother's life was already forfeit, it made sense at the time because I would be damned if Mito didn't grow up without having at least one parent in her life.
Both of them finished the sealing and the Nine-tailed fox attack was over, but lives were lost. Both Kushina and I said our emotional goodbyes to Minato... a lot of tears were shed that day.
Kushina thankfully recovered from that experience and was able to raise Mito right even without a father, she's a pain sometimes but Kushina turned out to be a great mother for Mito.
Too bad her uncle isn't that motivated to be a part of her life or serve Konoha as a shinobi. When I graduated from the shinobi academy, I climbed through the ranks to Jonin easily but that path I took was not for myself but to make 'him' proud.
'Pride'... what even is that? I don't have it... let alone pride as a Konoha shinobi.
I just wish I could find a new path... the shinobi path is not a path for me. The second that thought came to mind, something really weird happens. I opened my eyes to the sound of something forming down below. I immediately jumped from my nap tree.
In my thirteen years of existence, I've seen a lot of things but I don't think seeing a floating white-clothed, dried mud brown-skinned alien-looking guy appearing out of nowhere was one of those.
The more I looked at him the more I noticed his weird looking doujutsu like eyes, weird horns, brown hair, a long-ass beard and he holding some weird staff... man he looked like something that was out of this world.
You know I'm not much a believer of faith or the unbelievable like religion, ghosts or otherworldly celestial beings. Scratch the latter of that now anyway because one is staring at me right now for the last 10 minutes.
"...," I said nothing.
"...," the otherworldly celestial being equally said nothing.
"What the heck are you?" I said out of the blue.
"You aren't mute, huh? I was wondering when you would speak Ashura" the otherworldly celestial being said.
"Ashura? Who's that? You're not talking to me, are you?" said our hero.
"I am. I had two sons and Asura was one of them and from what I can see from your chakra, you are his reincarnation," the floating person retorted.
"Huh?" Naruto said with not a lot of surprise in his voice.
"You don't seem that surprised," the otherworldly celestial being said.
"No... not really because I don't think I'm still napping. I mean I should be with a floating... whatever the hell you are is holding a conversation with me revealing facts about myself I believe to be true," Naruto said.
"Why is that?" He retorted.
"Hmmm... well, I have a couple of talents, not a lot people know about, one of them being is telling when someone is lying to me. I can tell or like I can see it when someone is lying solely from their aura... it kind of flairs up and I don't see a flair coming from you," Naruto explained.
"Interesting you have a unique talent, young one," the ghostly figure said.
"Naruto," our hero followed up.
"Hmmm?" the otherworldly celestial being retorted.
"It's my name, Naruto... Namikaze Naruto," Naruto said with a smirk while pointing his thumb to his chest.
"Yes it is, I apologize Naruto-kun. Since we are exchanging names, I'll introduce myself as well I am-" the otherworldly celestial being began to say his name before being interrupted.
"Stop... just stop for a moment. I think our connection is telling me exactly who you are" Naruto said with wonder while tapping his chin with his index finger.
'This boy... he is Ashura's most unique reincarnation yet. Are Ashura's memories giving him a hint to Shinobi's world's true origin,' the white-clad man thought.
"But I question not just why but how you are here floating like a motherfucker... Rikudo Sennin-san," Naruto said in a mocking tone.
"Hmmm interesting, I'll be honest I did not expect you to know... yes you are correct I am who Ninjutsu users refer to as the Rikudo Sennin. Back to my NAME introductions so don't interrupt this time Naruto-kun," he said teasingly.
"Ughhh... fine go right ahead jii-chan," Naruto said.
"I'm this world's first jinchuriki, the creator of the Biju, the founding father of ninshu and as you said currently floating like a 'motherfucker right now. I am the Rikudo Sennin, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki," the sage said.
During his introduction, Naruto randomly looked up at the sun wondering how long this introduction will take.
"*yawn* you done... cool, now that answers my 'who' but not why/how you are here. Aren't you suppose to be dead?" Naruto said.
"Well, do you want the long answer or the short one?" said the Six Paths "The short one... I don't exactly have all day, I got places to be," Naruto said.
"After I died, my chakra was never truly destroyed but I can cross the plains of the spiritual world and the physical world but I am very limited in that way. I only do this for moments I need to interact with your world, specifically talking to you, Naruto-kun," said the Sage.
"Why? Why now?" Naruto asked.
"We as in the Shinobi world have a problem? Indra's reincarnation doesn't exist in this world." Hagoromo says.
Naruto's eyes widen.
"...Indra? Is he your other son?" Naruto asks.
"Yes. Thanks to my linage and their power, every generation or so they get reincarnated into newborns, one of them happens to be you. It's something I didn't think possible but my sons get a new start but no matter what they don't get along that well by the end of any reincarnation cycle sadly," the sage says in a depressing tone.
"Kids, am I right," Naruto says sarcastically.
"Yes quite so, the cycle created a balance as the of them and by proxy the clans that sprung out from them. That being the Senju and Uchiha clan," The sage explains.
"Senju... I mean I guess that checks out, Kaa-chan did tell me I'm like the third cousin of main clan members like Tsunade and... one other," Naruto trails on with a hint of sadness.
Hagoromo catches that but moves on.
"Well the reincarnation cycle is almost randomized but as long as there is a connection to Ashura, it works out no matter how small the connection is. Don't worry Naruto-kun, there is no doubt you are a descendant of my precious son but will say you are a bit sarcastic then Ashura ever was," Hagoromo says.
"Well, when you have a genius of a brother who couldn't give someone or a technique a good name to save his life. Heh, sorry dark joke... situations like that is when nature stops and nurture takes over plus I take after more like my Dad then my mother, who Minato was a carbon copy of... RIP tou-chan and nii-chan," Naruto says sadly.
"They were good to you, I take it?" the sage asks.
"Yeahhhhh, they always said they were lucky to have me as a son/brother. They're wrong... I was lucky to have them, they are the reason why I am the way I am," Naruto said with a smile on his face.
"That's good to know, having those bonds with family is important. I never had that with my mother but back on topic," the sage asks.
"Yeah...so Indra I assume was suppose to be someone I grew up with like Itachi or Shin-chan but he's not here, why is that?" Naruto asks.
Hagoromo slowly points his finger to Naruto.
"You are a part of the reason Naruto-kun, you were born too early," the sage says bluntly.
"I may be a technical bastard but are you saying I'm a mistake?" Naruto said in a matter of fact tone.
"That all depends on your perspective, you were suppose to be the child of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki," says the six path sage.
"Huh Kushina as my dotting mother instead of my annoying and possessive sister-in-law, now that's an image," Naruto wonders.
"This is no joke," the sage angrily retorts while slamming the bottom part of his staff to the ground.
"I know I know, relax old man, you said I was part of the problem. What or who is the other part?" Naruto asks.
"Indra's previous reincarnation, Madara Uchiha, he passed away one year before Kurama was controlled by the Uchiha who attacked your village," the sage revealed.
'Kurama? I guess that's the Kyuubi's actual name. Also, Uchiha?! I know I heard rumours that an Uchiha set the Kyu-... Kurama free but I wonder if he/she still lives in Konoha or is somewhere out there... a wildcard maybe, huh?' Naruto thought.
"Wait... Madara but he's from the First Hokage's generation, he had to be over 100 years old when he died. How did he survive that long?" Naruto asked while scratching his head.
"Hmmm... let's just say he had his ways after his fight with Ashura's reincarnation at the time, who you know as the first Hokage Naruto-kun," Hagoromo said.
"Hmmm... interesting, well this has been all good and informative. I can assume I'm the only one alive who knows about this but what do you want me to do about it old man? I'm just a kid," Naruto said.
"A child you may be Naruto-kun, but you are one with an important destiny in your hands and the means and opportunities to fulfill it," Hagoromo says with purpose.
"Destiny, huh?...not a believer but you know where his soul is, don't you? You're on borrowed time, aren't you? You wouldn't risk talking to me, if you didn't know where Indra's soul was," Naruto said.
"Yes, I am and I do. It's in a place literally out of this world," the sage said.
"Humour me then, where exactly?" Naruto asked.
"Indra's soul has been reborn in a woman but where she is in another reality in a world called Remnant," The sage reveals.
Naruto's eyes widen once again.
"Heh... you gotta be fuckin' kidding me," Naruto said while laughing.
The sage raises his eyebrow and stares at the Fourth Hokage's younger brother and his enjoyment of that fact.
"You've heard of it, I take it? How?" the sage asked.
"Let's just say I have a cookie obsessed roommate who is very familiar with the world," Naruto reveals with a smile.
~ 3rd Person POV – Somewhere in a room at the Uzumaki household ~
A 30-year-old woman could be seen napping in her room dreaming of who knows what. She could be seen relaxing in nothing but her undergarments, it was a hot summer day in Konoha and the extra layers weren't helping her.
Her defining features were her pale white skin, silver eyes, long black hair that went five inches down past her shoulders with a hint of red in it and her D-cup breasts. Her height when standing was five foot and five inches.
The woman in question was Summer Rose, who just woke herself from her beauty sleep by a random sneeze.
"*achoo*... ugh, I knew I shouldn't have stayed out that late too long doing that mission maybe I caught something... or Naru is talking about me again," the woman says with a smile on her face.
The shinobi world has been her home for the last two years and she was so lucky she found a place with the Uzumaki family.
How she found herself here is a story in itself, during a mission – that almost resulted in her death – Beacon Academy headmaster, Professor Ozpin assigned her.
The mission had to do with confronting Salem, the Grimm Queen who 'killed' her... well almost did just before she assumed death 'something' sucked her up.
That unfortunate event left her unconscious, she would later learn what sucked her up was the result of the space-time continuum ripping, an ultra-rare thing to happen from what she hears from experts.
When she woke up it was dark out, in the darkness she saw two pools of ocean-like eyes were looking at her with the moonlight shining a light on the person's eyes. The person who found her was Naruto Namikaze.
The 10-year-old was adorable and the concern on his face had her inner self screaming in 'cute' delight.
If only she knew at the time that meeting would lead to her finding a place in Konoha. The boy oddly spoke in an ancient language, Nihon which she knew very well, thanks to language elective she took at Beacon where she learned how to both speak and write in it.
She concluded that she wasn't in Remnant any more. The fully formed moon was the nail on the coffin of that fact.
Naruto was very knowledgable on space and time understanding thanks to his brother being a master of techniques relating to it and his notes on it. That previously mentioned expert was mostly referencing Naruto.
A lot of it when over her head if she was being honest, but she slowly accepted that going back to Remnant was an impossibility. That being said, Naruto promised he would find a way to get me back home.
She didn't accept it right at the start, she wanted to go back home and give her significant other, Tai and her two daughters in Yang and Ruby the biggest hug possible. She didn't care if Yang wasn't technically her daughter, she raised her way better than Raven would have... if she was committed to being a mother.
She wanted to go back but she accepted her new place here in the Shinobi world. Summer was grateful to Naruto and his family helping her situate herself in their home, they never told her to find a place of her own, probably because they enjoyed her company, either that or they liked her baked cookies.
She didn't go after a new relationship in this world, if she was being honest there were no guys – or girls, Summer could go both ways depending on the person – here she could see herself going after. Even if she was in a different world, she wasn't going to cheat on Tai with some nobody.
Naruto... though he wasn't a nobody, he did look like a cuter version of Tai, given some time maybe but she took those thoughts and locked them somewhere deep inside.
'Bad Summer, no indecent thoughts. You're a married woman buuuuttt heh heh,' Summer thought while unconsciously licking her lips.
"SUMMER ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING? IT'S LIKE TWO IN THE AFTERNOON, YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO BANG ANYONE BY SLEEPING IN," a voice from downstairs yelled.
"Why do you have to be so loud Kushina? What if your kid was here and she heard you say that?" Summer said to herself as she sat on the side of her bed.
"AT LEAST ANSWER ME DAMN IT," the now-named Kushina yelled once again.
"YEAH I'M UP NO THANKS TO YOU," Summer yells back.
As that almost daily comedic moment with the former jinchurriki was over, Summer got up but something grabbed her attention. It was a framed photo, specifically a recent photo of her and Naruto together.
"The two could be seen posing together in the picture with Summer behind Naruto.
She was in the usual attire of her long-sleeved combat like corset blouse/skirt hybrid outfit and her white cloak.
She was leaning down behind him with her chin resting on his shoulder with a cheeky smile on her face with her hand wrapped around him.
Naruto was in his usual attire with his hood down with his trademark glasses folded up and hanging from his black t-shirt. He was smirking at Summer's action while looking into the camera lens.
"...Naruto," Summer said to herself with an emotional smile on her face. That smile slowly evolved into one of appreciation and love.
To her, Naruto was like a little brother she never had, but if you asked Naruto she was a little too possessive of him.
~ Naruto's POV – Somewhere outside the walls of Konoha ~
"So what do you want me to do about all this? Crossing dimensions, let alone realities or worlds is sadly not in my skill set, Hagoromo-san," I said in a blunt yet depressing tone while lowering my head to the ground.
I want to reunite Summer with her family, they must miss her.
"You may not, but I do know how you can Naruto-kun," the sage said with a smile on his face.
I raised my head in shock with a look in my eye that screamed 'HOW?' to the sage.
"There is a certain undiscovered item in the remains of Uzushiogakure that will help you in my request. That is if you're willing to take it on, Naruto-kun," Hagoromo said to me with hope in his voice.
"... can you give me some time to think this over? I can't just drop everything and leave, I have a life here... friends and family too," I said with a little regret on what I'm about to do.
"I can give you one day to think it over but is this something you want to do?" the sage inquires.
"What you're asking me to do isn't a question of 'if'... I can. I'm 90% sure I can, but I need to be 100% sure so I need that last 10% to do this with no regret," I said with determination in my eyes.
"You're more like Ashura than I initially thought. I'll take my leave for today, in 24 hours, meet me back here. I'll talk to you then, Naruto-kun. Ja ne," The sage says as pieces of his 'being' began to dissipate into the air.
A minute went by as I stared at the ground.
"*sigh*... Nii-chan, I'm going to have to carry on your legacy after all, aren't I? I've been avoiding something, one of those things is learning the Hirashin from the notes and guides you left behind for me," I said to myself as I started walking back to the village.
While walking the Hokage monument came into view with Naruto's eyes focusing on the fourth face on of the mountain.
"If I'm going to stay in Remnant for a couple of years I'm gonna need that extra edge, I'm no jinchurriki so any advantage would help me greatly.
First thing, I need to do... is tell Summer," I said with purpose in my voice.
A/N: And that's the chapter, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. I honestly had the intention of writing a 10,000-word chapter from the start as I did with my last story.
After going through my writing process and how this ends at a good point,
I'm gonna try and aim for 3,000-4,000 words per chapter, now that could be more or less depending on the chapter.
Depending on the reception I could have the next chapter up in a good amount of time depending on if my other responsibilities don't get in the way too much.
Now obviously, Naruto is not in Remnant yet and I feel like a lot of exposition is needed to get there.
I initially wrote Naruto as all-knowing, but I thought it was 'cheap' for him to know everything for the sake of knowing, so my 'cop-out' solution was using Hagoromo as a storytelling device to move the story in the direction I want it to go in.
To stay in Remnant, there is a motivation I've set up for Naruto to stay in RWBY's world.
I want to make it a journey (not a long one) worth it and one that's earned while bringing Summer back to Remnant and the start of Naruto in-direct and direct introduction to the world and cast of RWBY.
As far as pairings go, I might go the Harem route just because I read a lot of stories that go down that path plus choosing one is hard.
