Chapter 4: Teamwork Misfortune (part 1)

A new week of school had begun. The Bubble Guppies were excited to see each other once again. Better still when after several messes with the schedules and the groups, they realized that the six would be in the same class. From the first day of school, Gil and Molly started coming and going together from home to school and back. Thus, the six met in the classroom that would be their first class that day. The teacher was not yet, there are still 10 minutes to start.

"UGH... Having known that the teacher had not yet arrived. I would have slept more" Gil said a little annoyed.

"Don't be so irresponsible, Gil. Punctuality is important" Molly said rolling her eyes.

"You should listen to her. The last time you were late you were begging the language teacher to let you in" Goby added with a smile. The rest started to laugh

"Hey! That only happened once!" Gil said annoyed.

"One of several times" Deema corrected. The rest still laughed until the teacher arrived. She was a lobster with a brown wig.

"Good morning, everybody" The teacher said.

"Good morning, Mis. Michigan" Everyone answered.

"Today we will start with an important topic. It will be important both for the exam and for life" Mis. Michigan said.

"(Ahh..Here we go again!)" Gil thought very boring.

A few minutes passed as the teacher explained a rather ... interesting topic. It seems to be something important and a little ... traumatic?

"And this is how babies are made in general" The teacher ended her explanation.

"Ruined childhood" Deema commented.

"Please. We already knew that. Not only in class do you see that" One random student said that.

"You are right about that. But although everything that most of you have seen is not everything. You must understand the enormous responsibility that can carry" The teacher said.

"And that is precisely the task that I will leave you at this moment" Ms. Michigan took a basket and showed the students that there were some eggs in it.

"What are we going to do with all those eggs? Will we make a huge omelette?" Gil asked. His friend giggled a little.

"Hehehe no, Gil. All of you will have to take care of an egg throughout this coming week. You must treat the egg as if it were a baby as if it were your child. That will be an experiment for you to understand paternal and maternal responsibilities" The teacher explained.

"This is ridiculous. This homework seems like school" One student said.

"Mmmm you're right. I should send them another assignment. A report of no less than 10 pages on all parental and maternal responsibilities" The teacher said maliciously. Students react immediately.

"THE EGG! THE EGG! PLEASE!" All the class shouted.

"(Mmmm I have no problem making that report)" Nonny thought.

"Very good. This work will be done in pairs. A boy and a girl sharing the roles of father and mother respectively. You can choose your partners" Ms. Michigan offered.

"(Yes. It will be the perfect excuse to have Gil by my side for an entire week)" Jane thought somewhat wickedly. But it seems that someone got into her plans.

"Hey, Gilly! Do you want to be my partner?" Molly asked first.

"Of course, Molly!" Gil answered with a smile in his face.

"(Grrrr...You won this round, Molly Gentilella)" She thought as she clenched her fists and gnashed her teeth. Jane was scary.

And likewise, Goby and Deema form a couple. Like Oona and Nonny. Finally everyone ended up with a partner

"Now that everyone has a partner, we must clarify the rules. First of all, it is a team effort. You have to take care of the egg together. Second, you cannot let your egg break. If that happens, both will lose the work points. The egg will be like your child, treat it like it really is. That is the idea of this work" The teacher explained.

"Agree!" The students said.

"Well, it's time to go out. All couples take an egg. And remember, it should last until next week" Ms. Michigan said. Every student took an egg. The Bubble Guppies decided to talk about it with each couple.

"It is just an egg. I think we could decide on the name of the egg" Molly recommended.

"Oh Gilly!" Molly rolled her eyes in a funny way.

"Hello, Gil Jr! I'm your daddy Gil and she is your mommy Molly. We'll both take good care of you, my little champion" Gil told it to the egg Gil Jr.

"Awwwww. That was very sweet, Gilly!" Molly said while she took the egg and carried it like a little baby "Let's go get something to eat"

"Sure. I will be the best father in the entire world!" Gil said very excited.

"Don't take it too seriously hehehe" Molly giggled. Someone was spying on them.

"(Grrrrrr I curse you, Molly Gentilella)" Jane thought it will all her angry. Now, with the rest.

"Mmmm all right...all right...Boy or Girl? Mmmmm" Goby was thoughtful.

"A girl would be a good idea, right?" Deema said. Goby was agree with that "Mmmmm I like the name of Amber"

"I like it very much. She is Amber now" Goby said that while he took the egg.

"Can I have it?" Deema asked. Goby got a little nervous.

"Emmmm maybe after….I promise" Goby said that fastly.

"Okaaayyy?" Deema said confused "(Why he reacted like that?)" Now with the other couple.

"A boy or a girl? I like both options….What do you thing, Nonny?" Oona asked. He was reading a tiny book. He didn't say anything. He looked focused.

"You can choose the one you want" Nonny answered that without taking his eyes off his reading.

"(Is he really paying attention to me?)" Oona asked herself a little sad "Well….she will be a girl…..Do you at least want to name it?" Nonny was thinking that. He got a cute name in his mind.

"...Kyomi…"Nonny said.

"Huh?" Oona asked.

"It means: pure and beautiful" Nonny said that without stopping reading that book. "...like you" Saying that ... he covered his face with the book. Obviously hiding his sudden blush.

"Wh..wh..what do you said?" Oona asked surprised. She blushed.

"Nothing! Nothing!" Nonny said a little nervous.

"(I shouldn't tell him that I do hear that)" Oona thought.

"(What was that? It was sudden and I didn't think about it. I hope she hasn't noticed)" Nonny thought it himself.

A few hours later, the Bubble Guppies gathered to chat about their coworkers. In a group were Molly, Deema, and Nonny.

"Gilly looked so cute when he treated that egg like it was his real son" Molly giggled "I just hope it doesn't go to his head"

"And what did you call it?" Deema asked.

"We decided he is a boy. He called him "Gil Jr" Molly said that.

"Hahaha typical of him" Deema said with a funny look "Goby and I decided the name of Amber. She is a little girl"

"Oona and I called it "Nyomi". A girl name" Nony said quietly.

"I trust Gil will do a good job. For now here I have it" Molly said that showing her friends the egg.

"You're lucky Gil trusts you. Goby doesn't seem to trust me" Deema confessed with a sad look.

"Really? Why do you say that?" Molly asked with some worry. Nonny stayed quiet as he usually is.

"So far, he has not wanted to give me the egg. What does he think of me? That I will make it omelette?" Deema asked a little angry.

"Calm down, Deema. You will see that this week he will let you help him" Molly comforted her.

"Thanks…..I hope so" Deema answered "How is your work with Oona, Nonners?"

"It's okay…...I was reading this" Nonny showed them a little book. The same one he was reading when he was with Oona. It had a title "Basic Guide for New Parents"

"Awwwwww" Molly and Deema said.

"Wait! You know it is not a real son. Unless you guys are hiding something from us" Deema said naughty. Nonny ignored her gesture

"I just want to do a great job with this" Nonny said that quietly. Although inside he was dying of shame.

Elsewhere were Gil, Goby and Oona.

"You know? I will be the best father that an egg could have" Gil said that very excited.

"Sure, leave Molly some work" Oona giggled.

"What should I do? I'd better leave it with me" Goby said while he took the egg "Don't worry, Amber. Your mom loves you ... only she's ... a little crazy"

"What are you talking about, Goby?" Gil asked.

"I don't know why I asked her if she wanted to be my partner. She is Deema, she is not very careful and I am afraid that she could do something to that egg" Goby confessed.

"I think you're exaggerating a little" Gil said.

"It is easy for you to say it. Molly is very careful like Nonny" Goby said that "I really don't know how Molly trusts you"

"If you want to know my opinion, you shouldn't underestimate Deema. You should give him a chance. You don't know what she's really capable of" Oona recommended. She knew more about Deema than Goby

A few days passed since they started the task. Gil and Molly took turns caring for the egg. Goby decided to take care of the egg by himself, without giving Deema much chance. Oona and Nonny so far had no problems. One day Gil and Molly were walking in the park. Of course they had the egg. They had decorated it with fake eyes and a little blue wig like Gil's hair.

"Oh no. I have to go home. I have many things to do" Molly said.

"Are you sure?" Molly asked. He just gave her a smile.

"Come on! It will be time of charity father and son" Gil said.

"Hehehe okay. If you want" She giggled "Just take care of it. In about three days it must be delivered"

"You can trust me" Gil said with confidence.

"Okay, Gilly. See you!" Molly said.

"Bye, Molly!" Saying that, she left and left Gil with "Gil Jr". So Gil was thoughtful "Very good. It's time for us to have a good time. I'll show you how cool your father is"

At that moment, Gil took "his son" to eat ice cream, play ball (of course, the egg was in a very small backpack that he carried) After all, he had had a good day.

The dogs barked a little menacingly until they got bored and left "Uffff that was close" Gil said that before another misfortune happened to him. A bird appeared and took the egg from him. Either it believed it was its son or it was food "Oh come on! Give me back!" Gil climbed down from the tree and started following the bird. The weight of the egg was more than the bird expected. So he released it at a considerably high height.

"GIL JR! YOUR DADDY WILL SAVE YOU!" Gil screamed before he tried to catch the egg. After some tension minutes, he finally capture the egg "Uffff That was very close. Imagine what would happen if it had…" Before I could continue talking, the egg slipped from Gil's fingers and fell to the ground. Breaking in the process "...broken..."

Oh oh. Now Gil looked worried and scared.

"Oh no no no no no no...Gil Jr...WHY?...That´s very bad! Molly will kill me! What should I do? What should I do?" Gil was saying that to himself as he panicked. At that moment, an image of his imagination appeared. It was a little version of Gil, it was a little angel. His entire body was blue. He had a white robe, little angel wings and a halo.

"Mmmmm maybe you´re right" But at that same moment another image appeared from Gil's imagination. It was another version of Gil but his skin was red. He had black clothes. It had black bat wings and had a pair of horns on its head. In addition to having a red trident

"Please, Gil. Are you really going to believe that silly angel? If you tell Molly what happened, she will be mad at you. And you will lose the opportunity to be with her ... FOREVER!" Devil Gil convinced.

"But but….What I can do?" Gil asked worried.

"Listen to this" Devil Gil whispered Gil´s ear. It will be a interesting idea "Get it?"

"It´s a good idea!" Gil said very excited.

"Ah man...You know that everything he proposes ends in disaster. I don't even know why I bother, you always listen to him before me. do not say I did not warn you" Angel Gil disappeared.

"Nah. Just do what I told you and everything will be fine. Devil Gil out!" Devil Gil disappear too. Obviously all of that was a production of his imagination. But that does not remove the fact that he would pay attention to the bad side of his conscience.
