Chapter 8: Wolf in sheep's clothing (part 1)

It was a quiet day. Two weeks have passed since Gil and Molly started dating. Things seem to be going well for them. But ... how about we talk about the rest of the Bubble Guppies. First we will look at a couple of friends who were walking around the city. It seems that they were going to a specific place.

"I thank you for deciding to come with me to the first audition for the school play. The others could not come" Deema said. Gil and Molly are dating, Oona is where her grandmother is and Nonny has to study.

"You´re welcome. You can count on me in everything" Goby commented.

"Yeah, I know. I always knew we should go out more often" Deema said "Just you and me"
"(gulp) Seriously?" Goby was nervous.

"Well of course! After all we are very close friends" Deema smiled him "Oh oh...We're late! We must hurry up!"

"Hey, slow down! Goby chased her. Deema decided to swam quickly. She had to be on time for the audition. Finally they reached the school auditorium. It was a Saturday, so there was practically no one.

There were several students. Various candidates for the roles of the characters in the play. For some reason, Deema was feeling a little nervous.

"Are you okay, Deema?" Goby asked.

"Is that ... what if I'm not that good? They are many actors and they look good. I don't know if I can really get the lead role. I'm already panicking" Deema said.

"Calm down, friend! I know you well and you are the best actress I have ever seen. Just focus on doing it right and they will see your talent" Goby comforted her.

"Are you sure?" Deema asked.

"Do you think I would lie to you?" Goby smiled her.

"Mmmm thanks. I needed to hear that" Deema said.

"Deema Wahler. It's your turn. Come here!" The director of the drama club called.

"Good luck!" Goby said.

It took a few minutes for the theater director to take note of the performance of Deema and several students. It seems that they took a long time evaluating and classifying who entered the work and their roles. And at the same time those who don't. Deema was nervous when they started evaluating. Goby was just trying to calm her down.

"Very good. We have analyzed and evaluated all possible actors. Next we will tell you the students admitted to the school play" The director said. "James Graham as Count Burne - Andrew Hopkins as The Mayor - Jonathan Brecker as Count Wesley - Kimberly Pinewoods as The Secretary - Deema Wahler as Duchess Lexington…."

"I can't believe it! I got the role!" Deema said very happy. She will be the female main character.

"I told you, Deema. I knew you would make it" Goby commented very happy for her.

"Congratulations, Deema. You was accepted" One boy said that. Deema recognized him.

"Oh James. You have a role too" Deema hugged him.

"You know I am an excellent actor. You should know that my acceptance was assured, darling" James said that playfully. Goby was confused.

"Oh...Oh my manners. Goby, this is Jame. My best partner from the theater club. James, this is Goby. One of my best friends from my childhood" Deema introduced them.

"Nice to meet you, James" Goby said without problem.

"The pleasure is all mine. Deema told me about your friends. Including you" James answered politely.

"I hope she said good things to you about me" Goby giggled a little.

"Yes. Many good things indeed" James answered.

"I see that you are getting along. What do you think if the three of us are going to eat somewhere?" Deema proposed.

"Sounds good to me" Goby answered.

"It's fine" James added.

Then the three of them went to eat at the mall. They ordered different foods. Deema ordered a piece of pizza and a soda. Goby a burger with fries and a soda. James ordered a turkey and bacon sandwich.

"Mmmm delicious" Deema said "I will be back. I have to go to women restroom" Saying that, she left the two boys alone. Goby tried to find a topic of conversation to start talking to him.

"So you are also a good actor" Goby said.

"You are right. It is a talent that I like to share with Deema" James answered.

"I may not have good acting skills, but I'm a bit creative. I really like construction. I would like to be an architect" Goby said.

"Wow ... you two are very different. Both in ... your appearance, and in your personalities" James said a little suspicious.

"So is. I think the differences are good. The important thing is respect" Goby commented.

"Yeah….but…." He changed his normal tone to a little sinister "You are not good for her".

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Goby asked confused.

"Well ... to begin with I know your secret. You like Deema don't you?" James smirked.

"Than? We are just good friends. That's it" Goby answered a little nervous. James just laughed.

"Hahaha...Are you trying to fool me? I see how you look at her. Your face hides many things. They say that the eyes are the windows of the soul. And yours ... notice her" James answered. Goby decided to stay quiet "I see that I am right. Too bad you won't have a chance with her"

"And why do you say it?" Goby asked confused.

"Because ... you're not the only one. Just so you know, I've been interested in her too. Since I met her at school. So I won't let anyone ruin my chance with her. Not even a person of your ... race" He smirked.

"Wow….that's rude! I don't want to have problems with you" Goby tried to convince him.

"In that case, if you want to avoid problems with me ... stay away from Deema. I know what is best for her" James said that with a evil smile.

"The best for her? Or for you? You're taking away her decision to choose" Goby confronted him.

"Perfect! So begins this unexpected plot twist. Two protagonists, rivals each other to get the same prize. It would be a performance that would interest me" He explained with a poetic tone.

"I don't get it" Goby answered.

"If you want her heart, you will have to win me. We will see which of the two manages to make her fall in love" James challenged him.

"No! Deema is not a prize to be won. She is a person who will make her own decisions. She has to choose her boy on her own" Goby confronted him again.

"In that case, you have already lost. You shouldn't underestimate me, Goby" Drastically, he changed his sinister tone to a friendly one. Well Deema had already returned.

"Sorry for the delay. There were many women in the restroom" Deema said.

"Don´t worry. We had a pleasant conversation. Isn't that so, Goby?" James said with a nice tone. Goby wasn't comfortable with that .

"Yeah….very nice" Goby answered with a tone not very convinced.

A few days later, the six Bubble Guppies were reunited in one of their free time in the school. Deema looked excited.

"Guys! They gave me an important role in the school play" Deema said that very happy.

"Great to hear that!" Molly said.

"It will be in two days. At 7 pm" Deema advised "And I want you to be in the front row giving me your full support"

"You can count on that" Gil said.

"You don't even have to ask for it. We will be there" Goby added.

"Thank you all. This play is very important to me. And I want you to be there. You are very important to me" Deema said "Molly, can you come with me for some stuffs?"

"Sure!" Molly answered.

"Be careful, honey" Gil said. She giggled.

"It won't take long. See you, Gilly" Molly kissed him in his cheek and she went with Deema. Gil, Goby, Oona and Nonny decided to talk.

"I'm still glad that you two are officially dating" Oona commented.

"Thank you. I'm happier with Molly as my girlfriend" Gil confessed.

"Just don't screw it up and everything will be fine" Nonny said.

"Hey!" Gil said. The rest giggled. Goby was thoughtful about an important subject for him.

"Something happen?" Oona asked.

"Well…..I've been ... thinking about certain things" Goby said.

"About what?" Gil asked.

"Well ... since we met again I have been closer to Deema. More than in our time in kindergarten…..I think ... that ... I'm in love" Goby blushed a little.

"That's cute!" Oona said.

"That's not what I expected" Gil confessed.

"Mmmmm I calculated 50% that this would happen" Nonny commented.

"Yeah…..but I have a problem. I'm not the only one who has noticed her. A boy from the theater club named James also seems to be in love with her" Goby told that.

"And why does that worry you?" Oona asked.

"Because the two of them have more things in common than she and I do. I don't think she would be interested in someone like me. James is definitely more compatible with her than I am" Goby said that sadly.

"And does that matter? Molly and I are very different and look at us, we are in a relationship and we are happy" Gil expresed.

"Gil is right. Besides, you don't know how she really feels about him ... or about you" Oona said.

"And another thing. We can help you if you allow us of course" Nonny added.

"Thanks, guys. But still. How can I show her that I care about her? And besides, that James could be a problem" Goby asked.

"Why do you worry so much about that guy?" Gil asked.

"Like….(gulp)...Jane" Gil said that a little scared.

"I'm not sure. But I felt very uncomfortable with him" Goby answered.

"For now just focus on making her happy and showing her that you care about her. Forget about James" Oona said.

"I think you have a point" Goby said.

"Well….You can try with this" Gil started to whispering an idea that could help Goby start winning Deema's love.

The problem is, Goby isn't the only one with plans to earn her love. At that time, somewhere else. James was meeting with four other boys. Three of them were crabs and the other was a large fish. They seem to be friends from the same theater club.

"Greetings my friends" James said.

"Hey, Shakespeare!" One of the crabs said that.

"I see you managed to get the lead role. Unfortunately none of us made it" Another crab added.

"Thanks for the compliments. But now we have more important things to discuss" James said.

"I'll guess, it's about Deema right?" The big fish asked.

"As smart as ever, my great friend. But apparently, I have competition. A boy seems to be interested in Deema just like me" James answered "Hehehe finally a worthy opponent"

"But that will not be difficult. You are smarter, more attractive and more cunning than that boy" Another crab said that.

"Maybe….But I don't have to underestimate that boy" James thought.
"Well it's easy. Just go out with her, buy flowers and chocolates from time to time, compliments and she will fall madly in love with you" The fish recommended. But James laughed a little.

"You know? I want to play this with another strategy" Jame smirked.

"What are you planning to do, boss?" One crab asked.

"She could take a closer look at me ... If I make it seem like Goby doesn't care about her" James said that with a evil smile.

"Wow….That's rude…..I like it" The big fish said.

"It is simple. This will be like a play. You will be key actors for my success. The end must be that Deema ends up being with me." James explained metaphorically.

"And what makes you believe that we will help you in this? We always do your dirty work" One of the crabs asked.

"Because you guys are the best actors I know. You have come this far thanks to me. So do me this favor for the good old days" Unfortunately, James is good at convincing people. He has good persuasion skills.

"Mmmmm okay. We will help you" They said.

"Good. A good warrior is not one who attacks his body or mind. He is the one who attacks the heart. We have to make Goby suffer, we have to make him want to be dead. WE MUST FIRST ATTACK HIS HEART! HAHAHAHAHA" James said that before laughing maliciously "Ejem….Do you think I exaggerated a little?" His partners nodded. "Well…...This is what we are going to do. Goby won't know what awaits him"
