Bubble Guppies Teen Years

Chapter 9: Wolf in sheep's clothing (part 2)

One day to go for Deema's play. On that day, Goby proposed to her to go out for a while to eat something. Of course she accepted. Right now he was waiting for her outside a coffee shop. Goby looked nervous.

"Very good. Invite her to a simple place ready. Dress well done. Smell good ready. And now, don't spoil it. I hope the guppies were not wrong to give me those tips" Goby said that to himself. But somebody surprised him for behind.

"And who were you talking to?" It was Deema. Goby jumped in surprise.

"Ahh Deema! You scared me" Goby said.

"Hahaha it was funny!" She giggled "By the way, Shall we eat there?"

"Doesn't it bother you that it's just a simple cafeteria and not a restaurant?" Goby asked nervous.

"It does not matter. The important thing is that we have a good time. Also, I'm hungry" Deema said that.

"Okay" Both of them decided to enter in the cafeteria "Ladies first"

"Hehehe Wow but how chivalrous" Deema answered with a smile.

At that time they both took a table for two. They both ordered two cups of coffee and a sandwich. While they waited for their order. They decided to talk a little more.

"You chose a good place. I love the decoration" Deema said.

"Yup. Gil recommended it to me" Goby confessed.

"You know? I wanted to get out of my house right now. My younger brothers drive me crazy and my parents can be a problem" Deema said.

"Your parents?" Goby asked.

"They usually don't get along. I don't even know why they got married in the first place" Deema said.

"Well….If it wasn't for them, you wouldn't be here. Despite the type of parents they are, we must love and respect them" Goby recommended.

"It is easy for you to say it. You have no problems with your parents" Deema answered. Goby stayed quiet for a long time "Goby?"
"Deema…..I see I didn't tell you before but ... I only live with my father. My mother ... died a few years ago" Goby said that sadly.

"Oh no no no. I just screwed it up. Seriously I'm sorry. I did not know" Deema said that quickly very desperate.

"It´s okay. That already happened. I will not deny that I miss her. But I think I enjoyed my mom's company when I could" Goby said "That is why I advise you to treat your parents well despite everything. You don't know if you're going to have them for a long time"

"That is very wise of you. Thank you" Deema said.

"No problem" He answered. In this moment, the waiter brought them their order.

"Thanks!" Goby and Deema said.

"By the way, tomorrow is your great day. Right?" Goby said.

"That´s right! I hope you will be in first line giving me your support" Deema said.

"You know that I will be there. I promise" Goby answered.

"A toast to good friends?" Deema asked in a funny way as she raised her cup of coffee.

"To good friends" Goby answered raising his cup of coffee too. Their cups collided a little, and then they drank their coffee. And they kept eating and having a good time.

After a while, they left the cafeteria and were ready to say goodbye.

"I had a great time with you. This helped me calm down a bit before tomorrow's show" Deema said.

"I'm glad to hear that" Goby answered. For a few minutes they were quite uncomfortable in silence. Deema, to break the ice, decided to kiss him on the cheek.

"See you tomorrow!" Saying that, she quickly left. Hiding her sudden blush. Goby froze when he felt that gesture from her. He blushed and was left with a silly smile.

"See….you" He said that as a fool in love even though she was no longer there.

And then that day came. The day of Deema's play. It was already 6:30 at night. In the school auditorium they were preparing to fix the stage and the actors. Deema and James were behind the scenes.

"Wow. I did not expect so many people to come. This is making me nervous" Deema said.

"Do not worry about it. You are the best actress here. You'll do fine" James answered.

"Thanks. Also, my friends are here supporting me in the front row" Deema added.

"Yeah….all of them...right?" James asked suspiciously. But she didn't notice it.

Meanwhile, in the first seats in the auditorium were Gil, Molly, Oona and Nonny.

"This will be very interesting. It is a play of drama, suspense, mystery ... and romance" Molly said that as she put her head on Gil's shoulder. He just put his arm around her neck.

"Deema will play a great role" Gil said "By the way, you guys know where Goby is?"

"I just texted him and he said he was on his way" Oona answered.

"I hope he comes soon if he wants to make her happy" Molly said.

Now we will see where Goby is. He was quickly going to school. Seemed to be in a hurry.

"Come on, I can't be late. Nothing will stop me" Goby said that to himself. But in this moment….

"Excuse me young man. Could you help an old lady like me cross this street?" A strange fish woman with white hair said it. Goby could not refuse that favor. It was a helpless old lady. Because of his morale, he decided to help her cross the street. That took a long time

"Okay. I have to quickly go to the school auditorium. Goodbye" Goby said.

"Wait, young man! You should take that shortcut over there. You will come faster if you take this path" The old lady said that. Goby was very doubtful, but the rush of the moment did not allow him to think clearly. So he decided to take the recommended path.

"Thank you, old lady" Goby said that quickly and went away.

"No. Thanks to you" The old lady said. When Goby left, the "old lady" took off her white wig and was James's friend fish "Very good. Goby goes to your position. You guys take care of him" The fish told his companions thanks to a hearing aid.

It didn't take long for Goby to reach a dark alley. He was moving forward carefully

"I do not like this place. It looks dangerous. I better move faster" Goby thought that. But at that moment, a mysterious silhouette appeared in front of him. And two others behind him. All three had black masks to hide their faces. They began to surround Goby.

"Give us the money!" One of them said that by pointing a gun at Goby.

"I have no money. I swear" Goby answered nervous.

"Mmmmm okay. So give me your phone" The masked man said. Goby decided to gave him his own phone "Okay, nice boy. Guys, hit him"

"What?" Goby asked. In this moment, the three thugs hit him. It was three against one, Goby could not do anything. Finally, they took a stick and hit him on the head. Luckily, they just knocked him out. They decided to tie his hands with adhesive tape and put him in a large garbage three thieves took off their masks while laughing at what they did. They were James's other three friends.

"Mission complete" One of them said.

"Should we worry about him?" Another asked.

"Nah. Dumpsters will find him soon. They pick up the garbage in a few hours. It will be late for Goby" The last one said. At that time, they were satisfied to meet their goal.

Several hours later, Goby's eyes widened slightly.

"He finally woke up"

"What a relief. I thought it was a corpse"

"Huh? What happened?" Goby asked.

"You do not remember? We went to collect garbage. This container was a little heavy and when we checked it you were in there tied with your hands. Luckily we removed the adhesive tape but you were still unconscious" They were two municipal workers who collected garbage.

"What time is it?" Goby asked confused.

"Its 3am. You should go home now. It's late" One of the workers said "We must go. Be careful" And they went away.

"Mmmmm I remember. I had to get to the Deema play but those guys assaulted me" Goby said that. In this moment, he noticed some suspicious objects. His cell phone was on the floor. He took it and it seems they called him countless. Calls from Gil, Oona, Molly, Noony, some from his dad and a few from Deema. That was not all. The pistol they used in the assault was lying on the ground. Goby took it and discovered something. The gun was not real. It was a plastic one, but the color and at first glance seemed very real

"That's weird! They teased me, but they left my phone here. This makes no sense. As if they wanted to make me waste ... time" Goby began putting the pieces of this strange mental puzzle together. And so he managed to draw conclusions "That son of a…...!"

It was the next day at school. Four of the guppies were gathered chatting when Goby arrived.

"Hi, guys" Goby said.

"Hey, buddy! Why did you never get to the play last night?" Gil asked.

"Yes. Where were you?" Oona asked.

"Guys, I promise I will explain everything to you later. But for now I HAVE to speak to Deema. Where is she?" Goby said worried.

"She is with James. At the school auditorium. She doesn't look very good" Nonny answered.

"Thanks! See you!" Goby ran away.

"I have a bad feeling about this" Molly said.

"This will not end well. Remember how she was last night after the play" Nonny said. The rest nodded.

Goby arrived quickly. But she saw how Deema looked sad and James next to her comforting her.

"Come on, Deema. I understand that Goby did not come, but the safest thing is that he had ... better things to do" James said.

"But he promised me. He would never lie to me like that" Deema said that sadly.

"Sorry, reality can be cruel. But don't worry so much about him. The rest of your friends were there, and so was I. Even if I didn't have to act I would have been there" James comforted her.

"Maybe. Thanks , you are a good friend" Deema hugged him.

"I will never fail you, I assure you" James said that. It was the last straw, Goby was already angry. I knew he set up a trap for him and he fell right into it. He decided to approach them immediately.

"Goby? What are you doing here?" Deema said that without wanting to talk to him.

"Wow Goby! I didn't imagine you would have the nerve to see her again after leaving her when she needed you the most" James smirked. But without letting him go, Goby hit him in the face.

"GOBY!" Deema gasped.

"Wow what a force!" James replied while rubbing the blow area.

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS TO YOU?" Deema asked annoyed.

"Why don't you let James tell you? Confess, I know you set me up so I couldn't get to the play last night. You sent your friends to do your dirty work" Goby said that angrily.

"Please, Goby. And now you are a liar. That idea is just ridiculous. You seriously think I would make a complicated plan to screw you up. Pfff. Stop blaming others for your own incompetence" James answered while he rubbed the blow.

"It's obvious that it was you" Goby answered angrily.

"And ... do you have proof?" James said. Goby was silent. He had no proof.

"Goby. I don't know what the hell is wrong with you. First you ignored my messages last night, you did not fulfill our promise and now you have the gall to accuse a friend of mine" Deema said that annoyed.

"Deema, I know he is a bad person. Is lying to you" Goby answered.

"Ahh yes of course. While you were "who knows where" I felt hurt the fact that you did not go to my play. It was very important to me and it seems like you didn't care. James was comforting me last night and today" Deema started crying, but only tears came out "You are important to me, but am I important to you? First the egg and now this. I don't know what to think of you"

"Deema….Let me explain you" Goby was sad now.

"I don't want to hear you! I do not want to see you! GO AWAY!" Deema cried. James just comforted her. But he smirked at Goby.

"Don't take it personally, Goby. But I told you, you are not good for her" James said that "Deema, let's go. I do not want to see you like this. We go for some water and something for this blow" Saying that, Jame took Deema and they put Goby aside. He left him like he was the bad guy.

He felt bad. That guy was manipulating her without anyone else noticing. Goby had to regain his honor. And you can only do it if you can reveal the true face of James. He was smarter, and most likely, he didn't do it alone. So Goby decided to seek help to face James.

"All right, James. This means war!" Goby expressed seriously.

To continued…

Things only got worse. We all know that James is a bastard. How long will James keep up his deception? What will Goby do? Who does Deema love? All this in the next chapter of Teen Years. Stay tuned and I hope you liked it. See you!
