Chapter 13: The Perfect Date
Sometimes ... when you plan something, it turns out completely different. To his bad luck, Gil happens to him often. But nothing compares to what will happen to him. It was a day like any other at school. Gil was talking to his friends.
"Do you want to go to my house to see some movies?" Goby asked.
"Yes" Nonny said.
"I´m sorry, buddy. But tonight I will date with Molly" Gil answered.
"Really?" Goby said. Gil nodded.
"But this date will be different. It will be the "perfect date" for Molly. This time I have everything planned. And nothing will go wrong like the past ones" Gil said.
"Like the time you bought her flowers and she was allergic to those kinds of flowers" Goby giggled a little.
"Or like the other one that you ran out of money and had to travel ALL over the city to return home" Nonny added.
Hey! This time everything will be okay for me and for Molly. I know it" Gil was determined.
That school day felt eternal to Gil. He wanted to get out fast to get ready for his date with Molly. Finally, the time came. Gil had his suit ready for his date. He was confident that everything would work out for both of them. But the problems are only about to begin. It all started when Gil went through Molly.
"Hello, honey" Gil hugged her and kissed her cheek.
"Hi, Gilly! I'm ready for the date" She smiled.
"Nice. I will call a taxi to take us to a restaurant. I chose a very elegant restaurant. I know you always wanted to go to one" Gil took his phone.
"Oww Gilly, that´s a nice detail for you" Molly was happy. But Gil not very much.
"Damn! How come a damn taxi isn't available right now? What happens? Is everyone on vacation or what?" Gil was upset a little.
"Gil….We can walk. I don't have problems" Molly said quietly.
"Well. I suppose walking is more romantic" They started to walk to the restaurant hand by hand. Finally, Gil and Molly arrived at the restaurant after a few long minutes of fun chats. They were received by a restaurant host.
"Welcome to the Restaurant "Le goût de l'amour". Can I help you with something?" It was a crab in an elegant suit with a small mustache. The tone of his voice was French.
"I have a reservation for a romantic dinner. A table for two" Gil said politely.
"Ejem...Your name, monsieur" The host asked.
"Gil, Gil Gordon, sir" Gil said.
"Sorry, monsieur Gordon. But I don't have a registered "Gordon" The crab said.
"What? It must be a mistake. I'm sure I made a reservation. I confirmed it before bringing my girlfriend" Gil said a little annoyed.
"I'm so sorry, monsieur. But you know what it means" The host said.
"I know I know. (sigh) To the tail of the row" Gil rolled his eyes bothered.
"Well….We just must wait some minutes" Molly tried to be optimistic.
"Sure" Gil said that not very convinced. They spent half an hour down the line and because of its speed.
"Alright next" The host said.
"(Here we go again)" Gil thought bothered "It is me again. I'm sure I did have a reservation HERE"
"You´re Gordon. Right? Please allow me a moment to review the other reservation list just sent to me, please" The crab started to check the another list "Oh...ejem...Excusez-moi monsieur. It seems that you do have a registered reservation. Table for two. Je m'excuse" The French host was ashamed.
"Do not worry. Anyone makes a mistake. Right, Gilly?" Molly was considered with him.
"Yeah...sure (It seems someone deserves to be fired)" Gil saved the last sentence to himself.
"This way, monsieur" The host said that before he politely led them to their table.
"Thanks" Molly said. Gil didn't want to say anything. The host left them.
"Ejem….Sorry for the inconvenience, I promise that the rest of the night will be perfect" Gil said giving a smile.
"Hehehe It's nice of you to have brought me here. It's very elegant. I did not imagine such a place on your part" Molly said.
"You know I would do whatever it takes to make you happy" Gil smirked a little.
"I know" She blushed a little.
"Excuse me, you two. What are going to order?" The waiter asked.
"Mmmmm let´s see. I want an order of onion steak with onion rings. And what the lady wants" Gil winked his girlfriend.
"Hehehe okay. I just want lasagna, please" Molly said.
"Alright, I'll bring it to you right away" The waiter left them.
"Tell me, Molly. How was your day?" Gil started a topic of conversation.
"Today was great. I passed the exams" Molly told him.
"That good! I still have to make an effort to pass the next ones. I didn't do very well in these" Gil said.
"Gilly, did you study well for those exams?" Molly asked with a suspicious look.
"Yeah…?" Gil answered nervous.
Flashback (Days before the tests)
"Very well, a few more games and I will study" Gil said that while playing video games. And we know that video games make us lose track of time.
End of Flashback
"Well….Maybe I am a little ... distracted" Gil scratched the neck from grief.
"You could ask Nonny to help you study. Or you can even ask me" Molly recommended.
"Thanks, Molly" Gil answered.
"You're welcome" Molly said that.
"Your order, sir" The waiter said that giving Molly the lasagna and Gil ... well …
"Excuse me, sir. This is soup. I ordered something else" Gil said.
"Sorry, sir. I will bring your or…." The waiter accidentally slipped his soup bowl and fell into Gil's suit.
"Ahhhhh….It's hot!" Gil shouted.
"Excuse sir...I…." The waiter tried to apologize.
"Ugh….you ruined my suit and my dinner" Gil was angry.
"Gil!" Molly tried to calm him.
"Grrrrr" Gil growled.
"Don't worry, sir. I will bring you your order and as compensation the house invites" The waiter was a little scared.
"Gilly, try to calm down. Not so bad" Molly said that.
"(sigh) Okay" Gil was already a little frustrated. But he decided to hide it with a small smile. Molly noticed it but didn't want to bother him anymore. So she decided not to tell him about it.
Despite the misfortunes, dinner went relatively well. Finally, they finished their dinner and left the restaurant (Gil decided not to tip) They decided to walk a little.
"What did you think of the dinner?" Gil asked.
"I liked it a lot. Thanks, Gilly" Molly answered with a smile.
"And that's not all. Look at the night sky. It is full of stars. Perfect for going to the park on a romantic night" Gil took Molly´s hand like a gentleman.
"I love that idea" Molly said happily.
Without wasting any more time, they both walked to the nearest park. With almost no crowds, they could have a good time alone. They both sat on the grass next to each other. They could both see the starry night with that beautiful moon and with the lake of the park in front of them.
"Oww Gilly. This is so romantic" Molly put her head on Gil's shoulder. He put his arm around her.
"Yes my love. It is very quiet. With you by my side, what more can I ask for" Gil kissed her forehead. The moment was very romantic until ... the park's public lights went out.
"What was that? Perhaps a blackout?" Molly asked worried.
"Wow, it got really dark. At least you can see the sky better. This can't get worse" Gil said very confident. But in this moment, a thunder was heard and unexpectedly it starts to rain "Damn!"
"We should go. Before we get more wet from the rain" Molly recommended.
"I'm not going to ask for a taxi again! Let's go quickly to the bus stop. There is one near the park" Gil said before they started to run away from the rain. They saw that there was a bus there. There was a long line "It has to be a joke. There is a big line"
"We have no other choice. We have to wait" Molly said. Gil just crossed his arms and waited resignedly. Finally, it looked like they could take the bus.
"Finally...Here we…." Gil said before something interrupted him.
"Sorry, guys. The bus is full. I can no longer carry more passengers" The driver said that before closing the bus door in his face and started driving.
"AGH That b*stard!" Gil was fed up.
"Gilly, calm down!" Molly said that nicely.
"No! Don't tell me to "calm down." In case you didn't notice, the whole date was a complete mess. First the damn taxi that didn't show up, then the damn restaurant host who should be fired by an idiot. Then the other idiot waiter who ruined my suit and my food. Personal note: don't go back to that crappy restaurant. Then the damn rain ruined our moment together and now we are drenched here because of an incompetent driver. So don't tell me to calm down." Gil said that very angry.
"I admit it wasn't the best, but ..." Molly said.
"Oohhh so you say that I only make disastrous dates" Gil said more bothered.
"I never said that!" Molly responded defensively.
"The safest thing is that you think that about me. Just because I'm a fool, isn't I?" Gil added.
"But what the hell is wrong with you, Gil? Why do you suddenly care so much about this date?" Molly asked.
"Because...because…." At that moment, he took a deep breath and calmed down a bit. He stopped being angry to being disappointed "(sigh) Because I wanted this date to be perfect. Something normal and romantic only. There is always something that ruins dating. I wanted to make it perfect for you. But with my terrible luck and that EVERYTHING goes wrong ... it will be difficult. I am the worst boyfriend in the world. I can't even make a good date" Gil dropped his gaze.
"Gil…..You shouldn't feel like this. I like that you always try to make me happy. I admit that our dates are not the most normal and romantic. But that doesn't matter much to me. The fact that spending time with you, the person I love the most, is enough. Sometimes you get very complicated on our dates. Just going to my house to watch a movie or order something to eat is more than enough. Because I do not care about the appointment itself, I care about being with you whenever possible" Molly explained.
"Really?" Gil asked. She nodded her head.
"I love you because you always do EVERYTHING you can for me. Although everything goes wrong. To me, you are the best boyfriend. And I wouldn't trade you for any other" Molly added with a tender smile.
"Molly….thanks. You are the best girlfriend. And you know I'll keep working hard to have a decent date at least. All for you, sweetie" Gil touched her cheek. At that moment, they both kissed passionately in the rain. All the bad feelings are gone. They now enjoyed each other's company. Then they both separate for air.
"We should go home. If we're still here, we'll have a cold" Molly recommended.
"Okay. A race to your house" Gil proposed and he started to run fastly.
"Ohhh I get it. I will defeat you, Gilly. I'm faster than you" Molly followed him.
"Prove it to me!" Gil said before they raced each other. They giggled during the race.
Maybe it was not the best date, but having each other. And dating the person you love the most in the world, that automatically becomes the best date in the world. And Gil and Molly knew that very well
God, the best date in the world (or something like that hahaha) But at least everything went well in the end. I know, this subplot did not last two episodes, but I want to save the best for later. I hope you liked this chapter. Leave your reviews to know what you think. I thank everyone who supports this story. I love you very much and prepare for what is coming
