Chapter 15: Lost Memories (part 2)

It took a few days for the doctors to allow Deema to return home on the condition that she receive family and friendly therapy. Gil, Molly, and Goby were walking to Nonny's house to meet to execute their plan. It was a bit uncomfortable, Goby did not look very happy. Molly recommended Gil to refrain from loving gestures in front of Goby. That could sadden him by reminding him of his girlfriend's situation. Finally, the five guppies got together.

"Do you have what I asked for?" Nonny asked.

"Uh huh...All the photos I have" Molly said.

"I brought some pictures that I had saved when we were kids" Gil added.

"I brought some more recent photos. From when we meet again until the beach day" Oona said.

"Very good. Ideally, we order the photos in chronological order to help Deema refresh her memory" Nonny explained.

"Chronological?" Oona asked.

"Ejem….time order. From oldest to newest" Nonny answered "Anyway, The photo album should be done for today and so, we can visit Deema"

"It is the best idea of all. Isn't it, Goby?" Gil asked exciting. But Goby didn´t share this feeling "Emmmm...buddy?"

"Something is wrong?" Oona asked.

"(sigh) What happens if Deema is not the same again? She will never be the friend we know again. She won't ... be able to love me" Goby said sadly.

"Do not say that. We will do our best to make her remember. And if not, we will make her our friend from scratch" Molly comforted him.

"Yeah...And on the other hand, you shouldn't worry about the relationship. If you managed to make her fall in love once, I know you will do it again. You can do it like you did before. But let's think about the best, she will remember you. I'm sure" Gil added.

"Thanks, guys….I don't know what I would do without you" Goby smiled.

"That's what friends are for" Oona said.

"All right. Let's start with the album" Nonny said.

Immediately, the five guppies started making the photo album for Deema. They sorted the photos from oldest to newest. The book had been decorated with images of many striking things such as flowers, colors, among other things thanks to the work of Molly, Oona and Goby. They finished the album and decided to visit Deema in her own house.

"Hello!" The five guppies said. Deema received them.

"Oh hi guys! Nice to meet you again. Come in!" Deema said nicely. They entered the living room of the house.

"We bring you a surprise" Molly said.

"Ohhh a surprise? I love the surprises. What is it?"Deema asked happily. Nonny showed her the album.

"This is a memory album. We did it with the photos that the things we did together. Maybe that way you remember things better" Nonny said.

"Well….I admit that the cover is very pretty" Deema admitted.

"Well...What are we waiting for? How about we take a look at the book" Gil proposed. The six got together to see the album they made "That day was when the six of us met. The first day of class of the kindergarden. He is Mr. Grouper, our best teacher" Gil sain pointing of a picture.

"That one was when we worked in a pizza restaurant" Oona said.

"That day you participated in a play like the fearsome big bad wolf" Molly pointed another picture.

"That other one is good. Here we met again after so many years" Goby added.

"Mmmm…..For some strange reason ... This all sounds very familiar to me ... I think I am beginning to remember some things ... But only events, I have no clear memories of you yet" Deema admitted.

"I guess that is enough for now. At least it is an advance. She remembers the events a bit" Nonny recommended.

"How about we watch a movie together?" Molly proposed. The rest agreed with it.

The group enjoyed some comedy movies. In addition to being accompanied by snacks during the movie. Then, the five guppies left Deema's house some time later.

"She still doesn't remember us" Goby said.

"We made good progress today. Little by little she will remember everything. Don't give up yet" Nonny comforted him.

"That´s a good point" Goby answered.

"If we continue like this, it won't take long to get Deema back" Oona added.

A few days later, Deema was able to return to school with her friends. Luckily, Deema didn't have much trouble catching up on school stuff thanks to Nonny. In one of her studies.

"... And if you do this procedure again ... the result will be 75X-8. It is not very difficult once you master those kinds of equations. Any question?" Nonny explained.

"No. This is easy. Thanks, Nooners" Deema answered. Nonny was a little surprised.

"How do you call me?" Nonny asked doubtfully.

"Nonners. That's what I call you if I'm not mistaken. I know you´re Nonny. But I called you Nonners" Deema answered.

"(She….remember me! It´s a good signal)" Nonny thought. He smiled a little.

The five met again at one of their breaks.

"Guys, Deema remembers me" Nonny gave this good news.

"Really? Cool! This will be easier than I thought" Gil said confidently.

"By the way, where is she?" Goby asked. As if it were pure chance Deema appeared ... but with someone else. The worst is that they walked hand in hand.

"Hi, guys! I don't know if you know James" Deema introduced him.

"Yes of course. I already had the pleasure of meeting you, right?" James smirked. Goby was bothered.

"Yeah….we also" Goby said reluctantly.

"I'm glad you already know each other. It is good that my friends and my boyfriend get along" Deema expresed. That was already ridiculous for Goby.

"Wait a minute! I'M her boyfriend. Not you, James!" Goby was angry.

"I don't know, ask her" James answered pretending ignorance.

"He already explained it to me. And I remember it. Goby ... you are my ex-boyfriend. And it looks like James and I are dating" Deema answered.

"WHAT?" The five guppies were shocked.

"That's not true!" Goby shouted.

"Goby is right. We are witnesses. You are Goby's girlfriend. And James is just a faker and a liar" Molly added.

"And now it seems that his friends turned against me. Well, in the end it is Deema who decides" James smirked. It was an awkward moment, everyone was looking at Deema for her answer.

"...(sigh) I'm sorry, guys. But I hardly know who you are. I only remember Nonners a little. But James I remember him very much and I trust him" Deema decided.

"You look….stressed. You better go drink some water" James recommended it to Deema.

"(sigh) Maybe you´re right. My head hurts me a little. See you, darling" She kissed his cheek and she left them. When she left, they decided to speak.

"What have you done with Deema?" Goby asked angrily.

"Nothing. I just refreshed her memory a little" James smirked.

"With fake memories" Gil added bothered.

"What's true and what's false? Everything is relative, you know?" James expressed.

"What are you talking about?" Molly asked.

"Let me explain. "If you can't remember something, it's like it never happened. Likewise, if something never happened, you can't remember it. Try too hard to remember, and your memory might lie to you." James explained with his confident smile.

"I see. You make her believe that false memories are real. Since she would assimilate it as truth. You tricked her memory" Nonny analized it.

"And the best thing is that everything went well for me. She does not remember the past incident. It is an opportunity that I am willing to take advantage of" James smirked.

"Why are you doing this?" Goby asked.

"Hehehe...Revenge. I wanted Deema, but you and your friends had to get into my plans. Now that she's mine, there's only left ... that you suffer, Goby. You must feel helpless. There is nothing you can do for her. I bet you feel miserable. But don't worry ... I will make her happy in your place" James said that wickedly. It was already the last straw. Goby approached him and grabbed him by the neck and hit him against the wall.

"Shut up, miserable! And I thought I had enough with you" Goby was angry.

"Goby, stop! Violence will solve nothing" Oona intervene.

"Do you want to hit me? Do it, but that won't change anything" James said.

"I hate to tell you, but he is right about that" Gil said. Goby sighed and released him.

"You must accept the truth. I beat you this time. See you" James left them.

"AGH...I hate him. Why does he just want to make my life impossible?" Goby said angrily.

"You should calm down a little. We will plan something to remedy this. But we can only do something if we calm down" Molly recommended.

"How can I calm down in a situation like this? That guy LITERALLY stole my girlfriend and there is no way for her to recover. James thought about it very well. He is smarter than me" Goby complained.

"Goby, listen to me what I have to tell you. I will ask you a single question. You still love Deema, right?" Gil asked.

"And that has to do?" Goby asked confused.

"Just….answer me! Do you love her?" Gil raised his tone a little.

"...Yeah" Goby answered.

"I didn't hear you, buddy. YOU LOVE HER?" Gil shouted it.

"YEAH!" Goby said.

"Then you will do anything for her. Neither her situation nor that fool James have to stop you. Because if you really love her, then you will fight for recover her" Gil inspired.

"Also, you will not be alone. You never have been it. We stopped James once and we will again" Molly added.

"Goby, what is your choice?" Gil asked again. Goby was quiet for a long time.

"...You….you are right. James will not get away with it again. He made the mistake of picking on me again. It's time for a second round" Goby was decided.

"And the truth ... is that James is putting the rope around his neck" Nonny expressed that metaphorically.

"Huh?" The rest asked.

"Have you seen how Deema has been? Her head is constantly hurting. I don't want to start making assumptions but her memories are starting to flow. She already remembers me. But it takes more for her to start noticing the fallacies of James" Nonny explained.

"And what can we do?" Oona asked.

"What we have been doing. Continue therapy. But we must try that she is not close to James. False memories could spoil everything" Nonny said. The rest agree with that.

It was time for the counterattack. Deema and James were walking together, but Molly came to interrupt them and asked Deema if she could go with her for some important things. Deema accepted and went with her. Molly and Deema went to the school lockers. Molly took something out of the locker.

"What is that, Molly?" Deema asked.

"We did two of these. Look" Molly showed her the object. It was a yellow bracelet with blue stripes. It had a few initials engraved: "M&D. BFF"

"M&D. BFF?" Deema asked confused.

"Molly and Deema: Best Friends Forever" Molly answered "We did two of these in kindergarten" Deema squeezed her head a little for a slight migraine.

"Yeah…..I remember it….Molly….Oh yeah….Molly, we were best friends. Right?" Deema finally remembered Molly.

"We still are friends, Deema" Molly answered.

"Yeah...I remember you now. You and I get along. You are a good friend and if I'm not mistaken, you have a boyfriend. The one with light blue hair, I don't remember him well yet" Deema tried to remember.

"Well….yeah. It is good that you have remembered me" Molly said.

"The things that you said to me in the hospital begin to have sense. For now, I remember Nonny well and now you" Deema analized a little.

"(Very good. She already remembers two of us, three are missing. And when that happens you will be finished, James)" Molly thought that.

Finally, Deema already remembers Nonny and Molly well. But there are still Gil, Oona and Goby. Will Deema remember them? Will she remember her true love? What does James intend to do? The guppies will work hard to help Deema and nothing and nobody will stop them ... We hope so.

And so we come to the end of this chapter. This time I don't have a smart comment so I just say goodbye and see you in a new chapter.
