Chapter 16: Lost Memories (part 3)

During the following days, the group tried to spend more time with Deema so that she is not with James. Most of the time they succeeded, but others did not. Luckily for the guppies, in those days they made good progress.

"Something new?" Nonny asked.

"Well….yeah…..She already remembers Gil and she's already trying to remember Oona" Molly reported.

"Nothing about me, I imagine" Goby asked. Molly just signed.

"She already remembers three of us. I do not think it's difficult. Or am I wrong?" Oona asked.

"Well, I don't want to be pessimistic, but it will be difficult for Deema to remember Goby" Nonny confessed.

"Can you explain me?" Goby asked confused.

"Unlike the others, James changed her image of you and replaced it with another. The one that James wanted" Nonny explained. The rest still confused "In other words, James told her lies about Goby and not about us"

"And what can we do about it?" Gil asked.

So Goby started flirting with Deema. He started to approach her like a friend, but she was a little uncomfortable. Since she continues to believe that he is her ex. Goby had a hard time convincing her to date a little, since she believed James was her partner. But she accepted since it was a "friendly date". They both went to a cafeteria, the same one we know. They asked for coffee and sandwiches.

"It is one of the best cafes in the city" Goby commented.

"Well…." Goby was thinking that he could tell her. Since they never actually broke up, it was all James's fault altering memories of her after the accident "We better not think about the past. What is in the past is past and what matters is the present, right?"
"You´re right. For friends?" Deema raised her cup of coffee.

"For friends" Goby raised his cup too.

Strange as it seemed, Deema did enjoy Goby's company. Although her memories of him are somewhat distorted. He decided to accompany her home.

"Thank you for accompanying me to my house. You are very kind" Deema said.

"It is not a nuisance. For me, you have never been a nuisance" Goby said nicely.

"Hehehe. Well…..I have to go home….See you" Deema was going to go home, but Goby stopped her holding her hand. She blushed slightly, but was confused "Huh?"

"Sorry, Deema…...But I can't hide what I feel for you" At that moment, Goby took Deema's face and kissed her on the lips for a few seconds. Deema was surprised. She ... felt something.

"I...I...I….Good Bye!" Deema left him alone.

"(sigh) That was so stupid" Goby facepalmed to himself.

Deema entered her house. She was confused. But still, for some reason she ... liked that kiss. She felt different when she felt that Goby kiss. It wasn't the same when James did it. A few days later. Deema seems to remember Gil, Molly, Oona and Nonny well. Most of her memories began to return. But memories of Goby, James, and a certain incident remained in doubt. Deema was dating James, but she didn't seem very focused.

Meanwhile, the five guppies reunited again.

"And good? Have we made any progress?" Gil asked.

"Deema remembered me finally" Oona answered.

"And I'm trying to make her fall in love with me. It seems to be working a little" Goby added.

"It´s good. What about James?" Nonny asked.

"Deema told me that she decided that they both take time. It seems like she's already realizing James's lies bit by bit" Molly answered.

"We are beating James like we always do" Gil smirked.

"We must not let our guard down. James is smart. He will know how to cope to us if we are distracted" Goby clarified.

"We must remain alert. Deema is recovering well and we cannot allow James to intervene" Nonny added. The rest agreed.

It didn't take long for Goby to visit Deema. They were supposed to see each other in the park. Goby arrived but Deema had not yet arrived. So he decided to wait for her, but someone appeared.

"I see that you are stubborn. You can't accept the fact that she should be with me and you decided to get between me and Deema" It was James.

"How curious. This description is the same one that defines you. You couldn't accept that Deema and I were dating. And of course, you took advantage of the fact that she suffered from amnesia to make her your toy. If that's not totally evil, I don't know what to think" Goby explained.

"She must have been mine in the first place, nigga!" James shouted.

"First of all, that was very racist on your part. Second, it's not my fault that Deema doesn't feel the same way about you. You were her friend and you thought about manipulating her like you do now. She has every right to decide who she loves, and she decided to love me" Goby explained.

"She will be mine! With or without you on the road!" James shouted angrily. At that point, he pulled out a taser ready to get rid of Goby.

"What the….!" Goby was surprised. James didn't hesitate to hit him with the taser on. Goby managed to dodge it luckily. Goby began to grapple with him, avoiding contact with the taser. "You are completely crazy!" Goby said loudly.

"Crazy? Madness is relative, my friend. You would do the same in my place, right?" James smiled evilly.

"Grrrr. I have to stop you now!" Goby added. James managed to hit him with the taser causing Goby an electric shock "AGGHHH"

"HAHAHAHA It is funny. When you are no longer on my way, I will be with her" James smirked.

"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING HERE?" A female voice was heard. James and Goby saw the source of the voice again. It was Deema.

"Deema…." Goby was a little nervous.

"Deema...I...can explain this. He turned against me. He wants to ruin our relationship ... This ..." James got up just like Goby. But...

"Enough, James! I saw it and heard it all. How is it that you have been manipulating me all this time?" Deema complained.

"Well ... hehehe ... this is just a misunderstanding" James tried to explain.

"My friends had the reason all this time…...What kind of person are you? I trusted you" Deema said.

"Are you okay, Goby?" Deema asked confused.

"Goby ... I'm sorry I doubted you. I'm still confused. Now I know that they are my friends and that James was a bad person ... but ... I don't know what to think about this ... My feelings are still confused" Deema explained.

"So ... let me explain ... with this" Goby approached her, he took her by the waist. They both looked into each other's eyes and blushed lightly.

"Just….relax" At that moment ... they both kissed each other on the lips again. This time, they lasted a long time in that kiss. The two separated a little and saw each other again.

"DEEMA! Oh no! Not again!" Goby was worried. He decided to call an ambulance.

"What happened to Deema?" Molly asked worried.

"Luckily it was not serious. She only fainted from constant headaches. For now we do not have a logical explanation of what happened, but she is already better. Come with me" The doctor said. The rest followed him. Deema was resting on the hospital gurney. She was slowly opening her eyes

"UGH...my head" Deema complained.

"(sigh) Deja vu" Goby commented.

"What happened, guys?" Deema asked confused.

"Mmmm wait a moment? Do you know who they are?" The doctor asked.

"What kind of question is that? Of course! They are my best friends" Deema said with happiness.

"WHAT?!" The guppies shouted.

"So...Do you remember us?" Nonny asked.

"Yeah...I remember everything. Hey ... although ... I'm confused about what happened after the accident" Deema said.

"Hurray!" The guppies were very happy.

"Come here! Group hug!" Deema shouted. The rest hugged her.

"I'm glad you're the same as before, Deema" Oona commented.

"I still try to remember what happened after the accident" Deema admitted.

"Well…..It have been a long day. We should go, right guys?" Gil said. The rest were confused. Gil immediately pushes Molly, Oona, and Nonny to leave Goby alone with her. Gil winked at his best friend.

"So ... you remember everyone ... Including me?" Goby asked nervously.

"Well….who are you?" Deema asked confused.

"(sigh) Well...I tried it" Goby was sad. But before he could do anything, he felt Demma slap him on the shoulder in a friendly way.

"Don't be silly! It is not possible to forget my best friend ... and at the same time my boyfriend. I remember a few things, I'm sorry I dated James. I didn't remember anything" Deema said.

"It does not matter. I care that we are here together. May you already remember your friends, family and me. You don't know how much you worried me" Goby confessed.

"And you did your best to help me. And that's why I love you" Deema saw him with love eyes.
