Chapter 17: Hidden Sorrow (part 1)

It seems that things have improved. Deema has successfully regained her memory and is back to being the same outgoing and fun girl as ever. The group's love relationships were going well. Everyone was fine since the last incident ... at least ... it seems. Today we will focus on the quietest guppy of the six. Yes, I'm talking about Nonny.

He was quiet at home reading a few books. That relaxed him a little. At that time, he noticed that a text message came to him on his cell phone. It was Oona, his girlfriend. He decided to check what she needed.

Oona: Hi, Nonny!

Nonny: Hi, sweetie pie!

Oona: Hehe...I wanted to ask you if we can go out on a date together today.

Nonny: Sorry, sweetie. But I can not. I am busy with some homework. Maybe another day.

Oona: Okay? Nonny, we have the same school assignments. As I remember we don't have that many

Nonny: Well…..I got a little behind with my homeworks. I was helping Deema and Gil to study. Remember?

Oona: You're right. Sorry. Good luck. I know those tasks will be easy for you. You are the smartest and cutest boy I know.

Nonny: Thanks, Oona. I'm a little busy. I love you. See you.

Oona: I love you too. See you.

Checking the last message on his cell phone, Nonny regretted saying that to his girlfriend. He wanted to date her that day, but he knows he couldn't. And it wasn't because of homework, since that wasn't difficult for someone like Nonny. There was something else there, but what was it?

Not long afterward at school, the boys met for one of their typical recess talks.

"Hey Goby! What do you think if after school we go to my house to play video games? I have to sweep the floor with you" Gil proposed.

"You are not excluded in this, Nonny. Do you want to go play with us? You are very good. It will be a challenge to play against you" Gil asked.

"Yeah. Come on" Goby added.

"Sorry guys, but I can not go. I have many things to do at home" Nonny answered quietly.

"Please, Nonny. Do you really have so many things to do?" Gil asked.

"Really, buddy. It won't be the same without you" Goby added.

"I will be very busy. Do not worry about me. You guys can have a good time without me" Nonny answered again.

"(sigh) Okay. If you have no problems, that's fine" Gil said not very convinced.

This would not be the last time Nonny would turn down an offer to be with his friends. Another time Molly, Deema and Nonny had come out of a class and were talking to each other.

"Today we can go to the Shopping Center to buy a few things and eat something. What do you say?" Deema proposed exciting.

"Sounds good for me. Do you want to go with us, Nonny? It would be a good idea to have a male opinion with us" Molly asked.

"And why don't you ask your boyfriends?" Nonny asked confused.

"Gilly can't stand spending time in stores" Molly giggled a little.

"And Goby told me that he will be busy helping his dad" Deema added.

"Maybe a next time, girls. I´m busy in these days" Nonny answered and left them. The girls were not convinced of what Nonny was saying to them.

This situation was constantly repeated. Nonny didn't hang out with the guppies after school. That already started to worry his friends and they decided to talk about it without Nonny.

"Let me guess. I'm not the only one who notices that Nonny is acting very weird" Deema said.

"Yes... Something happens to him" Gil analized.

"Maybe ... he just wants to have some time alone. Normally Nonny is one of those guys who is very reserved" Goby answered.

"But this is different. I know him well. Although he likes silence and calm a little ... he does enjoy being with us. I'm worried. He didn't want to tell me anything. Or what things is he doing" Oona explained worried.

"But you are his girlfriend. He hasn't told you anything about it?" Molly asked.

"He answers me in a strange way. He gives me many excuses but he doesn't go into details ... As if he was hiding something from me" Oona answered and thought about it.

"Nonny is a boy who keeps many things to himself. Wouldn't it be normal for him?" Goby asked.

"No, I think this time it is something very serious. We should find out what Nonny hides" Molly proposed.

"Just a moment! Not all of us are going to spy on Nonners 24 hours a day" Deema expresed dramatically.

"It is not necessary. We just have to follow him after school and we'll find out" Molly planned.

"I don't think it's right to get involved in Nonny's private life. Is not correct" Oona intervene.

"I don't like doing this either, but this is already worrying. Do you want to know what happens to Nonny? Then we have to do it" Molly answered.

"Hehehe That's my bad girl" Gil smiled mischievously at Molly.

In this way, the group decided to spy on Nonny on a specific day. When that day came, everyone was acting normal when he was with them. Luckily for them, Nonny didn't notice if they were acting suspiciously. Finally, it was the end of the day. Nonny went home like any other day. Only this time, the five of them were sneaking up on him. He was at his house for a few hours and the group did not notice anything suspicious.

"Mmmm It seems everything is right" Molly said.

"It seems that nothing strange happens, but then why has he been avoiding us after school?" Oona asked.

"Euh...guys...There is movement in the area" Gil pointed Nonny´s house. It was Nonny carrying his backpack ready to leave home "Mmmm suspicious"

"We have to sneak up on him now!" Deema ordered. The rest followed Nonny.

And so the group began to follow Nonny. He walked through much of the city until he came to a house. It was strange, they did not know who lived there.

"Whose house is that? And what is Nonny doing here?" Goby asked.

"You guys stay here. I'll get closer to see better" Gil proposed. Gil sneaked up on Nonny. The guppy with glasses entered the house. Gil decided to look out the window. What I would see would not be very pleasant. There were other guppies there, they seemed to be older students. The most important was a boy with short gray hair with certain muscles and clothes that made him look a little rough.

"Well, do you have what we ask you?" The rude guppy asked. Nonny just nodded.

"Yes. Here you have" Nonny showed him some papers. The guppy checked it.

"And everything is correct?" The guy asked.

"Yeah. I checked all the answers more than three times. I am sure the answers are correct" Nonny answered.

"Hehehe good. I told you, friends. This guy would save us a lot of trouble. No, four eyes?" The guy said that to his friends. Nonny ignored this comment.

"You are right, Nate. I don't have to worry about my homework anymore" One of the guppies said.

"By the way, nerd. Mid Year assessments are coming up, that means more homework is coming. You know the deal. You have to take care of my tasks and incidentally, that of my friends too" Nate said.

"Euh…..That will be a little difficult. They will also send me many assignments" Nonny answered nervously.

"Is that an excuse?" Nate asked intimidatingly.

"Nonono...I'm just saying to you that I also have my own personal life" Nonny tried to explain.

"We know that and do you think that matters to us? You know what you have to do. Go on with our tasks if you don't want anything bad to happen to you or your clumsy friends" Nate punched Nonny´s arm lightly.

"Ouch….I will do it" Nonny answered adjusting his glasses a little.

"Oh by the way. Congratulations nerd. I didn't know you already had a girlfriend. Her name is ... Oona, right?" Nate asked. Nonny gulped a little.

"Ehh...yeah...We have been dating for a few weeks" Nonny answered quietly.

"Well. If you know what suits you and her ... well …" Nate said.

"I know….I won't tell anyone about this" Nonny sighted. Gil saw all of that and sneaked over to the guppies.

"Well, Gil? What happened there?" Molly asked. The rest approached.

"It really is a very bad thing ..." Gil started to explain everything he could see and hear. It seems Nonny was in trouble related to students taking advantage of him. The rest were surprised.

"This can not be. It is an obvious case of bullying" Molly said.

"That explains everything" Deema added.

"But there is another problem. We must help Nonny. We can't let those thugs keep pestering Nonny" Goby said.

"I'm going to talk to him. Maybe he has more confidence in me" Oona proposed.

"If we can help you with something, count on it" Molly said. The others returned to their respective houses.

They already had to do something about it. On a normal day for everyone, Oona and Nonny were walking on the school campus. They both seemed fine

"Nonny, our first month as a couple is approaching. And I was thinking that we could go out to eat just you and me. What do you think?" Oona asked. Nonny thought a lot about that offer "That would be for next week"
"Mmmmm I'm not so sure. I have important things to do next week" Nonny said.

"Those things are very important? More important than ... our relationship?" Oona asked a little annoyed (although she was pretending a little)

"I never said that" Nonny answered quickly.

"So can you tell me what those things are that are so important?" Oona asked Nonny stayed quiet "Is….something bad?" Oona asked worried a little.

"Is personal. I can not tell anyone. Not even you" Nonny confessed a bit.

"But Nonny, I am your best friend and at the same time your girlfriend. You can trust me" Oona took the hand of her beloved boyfriend. But he pulled away from her a little.

"I'm sorry, I can not….Just….No" Saying that, Nonny walked away from her quickly.

"Nonny, wait!" But it was too late, he was already gone. She sighed sadly. And at that moment, the other four guppies arrived. It seems that they tried to see everything secretly.

"And he said something to you?" Deema asked. Oona just shook her head.

"It is normal for him to act like this. Nate has him threatened" Goby analized.

"But we must do something about it. Nonny needs our help now" Molly said. The others began to propose ideas. But Gil was not paying attention. He clenched his fists in annoyance thinking about what he saw that day. Without saying anything to his friends, he separated from the group "Gilly, where are you going?"

"Speaking things, we will not solve anything. I will do something about it" Gil expressed bothered.

"But what the hell are you planning, buddy?" Goby asked. Gil said nothing more and left, avoiding his friends from intervening in his crazy idea.

"Oh oh….Whatever he has in mind, nothing and no one will get that idea out of his head. That's Gilly, that's how stubborn he can be" Molly was worry. She knew her boyfriend well and she knows that he is going to do something stupid that could make things worse.
