Chapter 19: Gaining your trust (part 1)
There are various types of relationships. Some are very affectionate, others not so much. Regardless of the type of romantic relationship, what matters is mutual love. There are also couples ... peculiar. This is the case of Molly and Gil. One day, they both wanted to do something different at one of their lunches together. They were at Gil's house at the time. They were both preparing something in the kitchen.
"Gilly, are you sure about this? Have you ever made homemade pizza? We should look for help on the internet" Molly asked worried.
"Don't worry, Molly. I have everything under control. The pizza is done. It just need to stay a few minutes in the oven and everything will be fine" Gil smirked. But in this moment.
"...Emmm Gil…..something is burning" Molly smelled.
"Oh no. Nononononono...The pizza!" Gil gasped. Gil quickly turns off the oven and wears oven mitts to pull out the pizza that was now black from long high heat "Gosh...Not now! Ugh...What luck is mine" Molly giggled a little.
"Well….At least we tried. We better order pizza before you decide to eat the burned pizza" Molly used her cellphone to order a pizza.
Half an hour later the delivery man arrived and then the couple enjoyed the "normal" lunch. At that moment, Gil noticed that his girlfriend was a little distracted. Gil decides to break the awkward silence.
"Is something wrong with you, Molly? You are distracted. What happen?" Gil asked worried.
"Gil, we have to talk something important" Molly said. At that moment, Gil felt the true terror. Usually when someone says the phrase: We have to talk. It doesn't usually mean anything good.
"Molly ... is it a bad thing? Whenever girls say that it means bad things. I swear I haven't noticed anyone else, I just want you" Gil said that quickly.
"Euh...Gilly…."
"If it's because of the failure of the pizza I swear I'll improve next time" Gil started to get hysterical.
"Gil….."
"Very good. I recognize that our dates are a mess, but I do my best to make a normal date" Gil continued to say random things until…
"Gil Gordon! Can you let me speak for a moment?" Molly was bothered buy she calmed down. Gil just nodded his head "What I've been trying to tell you is that our relationship has progressed well. And that's why I wanted to propose something to you. I want us to take the next step" This caused Gil to turn red as a tomato.
"WHAT?!...Molly, I….I….I don´t think I'm ready for this….Do you really want to do "that"?" Gil asked nervously. Molly understood this.
"Oh...No, Gilly! I did not mean "that"!" Molly blushed too.
"So what do you mean?" Gil calmed a little.
"I want to formally introduce you to my family as my official boyfriend" Molly proposed.
"Molly, your mom and younger sister already know me. I do not understand" Gil said confused.
"It is true. But I want to introduce you to my grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins ... and ... (sigh) and maybe finally introduce you to my dad" Molly said sadly that last sentence.
"Your dad? You have never told me about him" Gil was more confused.
"Sorry, Gil. It is that he ... is almost not much at home. He works all the time. But I know something. This weekend my family will go to my grandfather's house. It's a family party and I want you to come with me. There you can meet my entire family" Molly explained.
"Mmmm okay. I will go. I want to meet your family. Since in theory I'm from your family ... or at least I will be in the future" He said that with a mischievous smile
"Gilly!" Molly blushed a lot. In this moment, he interrupted her with a cute kiss in her lips. Then they started kissing each other.
Finally the day came. Gil went to Molly's house. She was waiting for him with her mom and younger sister Mia. She greeted him with a hug.
"Hi, Gilly! I'm glad you decided to go with us" Molly said happily.
"I wouldn't miss this for nothing, love" He kissed her check "Ejem...Hi, Miss Gentilella!"
"Good morning, Gil. I'm glad to have you here with us" Molly's mom said that. She liked him. She knew he was a good friend and boyfriend for her daughter.
"Gil! Gil! Gil!" Mia hugged him "Here's the clown Gil hahaha"
"Ahhh I see, little one. Do you want to challenge the great Gil? Come here!" Gil played a little with Mia. He was ready to tease his sister-in-law with tickling.
"HAHAHAHA STOP GIL!" Mia said happily. He stopped "Hey! When are you and my sister planning to get married? Awww would be so cute. Live together. Having babies ... but now that I think about it Where do babies come from?" Mia asked very happy with the innocence that every child has. Molly and Gil blushed intensely at the awkward question. Molly's mom stepped in just in time.
"Mia, we've already talked about that. They lack a lot of time for that. But now we had better go to the grandparents' cabin. Punctuality is a virtue of our family" Molly´s mother said that.
"Hehe now I know where you inherited that" Gil smiled at his girlfriend.
Without wasting any more time, Gil, Molly and Mia got into the car. Mrs. Gentilella started driving towards Molly's grandparents' house. Gil felt a little nervous but tried to calm down a bit. After an hour and a half later they arrived at a beautiful cabin in the middle of the forest, a little far from the city. The group got out of the car and a couple of older adults greeted them. It was Molly's maternal grandparents.
"Grandma! Grandpa!" Molly and Mia hugged them.
"Look who you are. Our favorite granddaughters" The old man said giggling.
"Hi mom! Hi dad!" Mrs. Gentilella said.
"Wow! Who is that blue-haired boy?" The old woman asked.
"Hello. I´m Gil Gordon. I´m Molly's boyfriend. Nice to meet you two" Gil said politely.
"Molly has a boyfriend? Wow, time flies" The old woman said.
"This is life. Glad to meet you. Come on, enter the courtyard, the family is waiting" The old man offered.
They went to this place. It was beautiful. It had grass, trees, picnic tables, barbecues, and a large pool in the middle. It was filled with Molly's huge family. Both paternal and maternal.
"Wow! Molly, you never told me that your family was very large. Too many" Gil was shocked.
"Relax! They will like you….Except uncle Davis…..He doesn't like anyone" Molly said. That guy were reading a newspaper with a sinister look. He was grumpy. Gil gulped a little.
Molly introduced Gil to her paternal grandparents, various uncles, aunts, and cousins. They had all kinds. Very happy, funny, jokers, weird. Molly, Gil and Mia played a lot with the other cousins in the family. Everything was going well until ... someone else came to the party. Molly's mom (by the way her name was Miriam) received the "unexpected" visit.
"Oh ... Hello, honey. You finally arrived" Miriam greeted.
"Yeah. The boss finally left me on vacation after my business trip to Austria" It was him...The father of Molly. His name is Robert.
"Daddy!" Mia shouted happily.
"Dad!" Molly said that happy. The two girls hugged him.
"Dad? Oh oh" Gil gulped.
"How are my two beautiful princesses?" Robert said happily.
"Dad. I'm older now" Molly said.
"Hehehe I know. But you are still my princess" He played with his daughter´s hair. Molly just giggled.
"Well, Molly. Is there something important you want to say to your father?" Miriam asked. Molly understood it.
"Oh yeah...ejem...Dad...he is Gil, my boyfriend. Gil, he is my father" Molly introduced Gil to her father. Her father's joyous expression changed radically. He looked uncomfortable and perhaps annoyed. Gil noticed that and gulped on nerves.
"Emmm...Hi, Mr. Gentilella….I´m Gil….Nice to meet you finally" Gil smiled nervously and he was sweating a lot. He stared at him like he was a policeman inspecting a criminal. If that sounded exaggerated, well that's how poor Gil felt.
"Mmmmm...So….So you are the famous Gil that Molly has told me so much" Robert asked with a acid tone.
"Oh...you….heard of me before?" Gil asked nervously.
"Yeah...A boy with the worst luck in the world. Well, I'm not surprised. After all, very strange things have happened to you. Chased by pigeons, chickens, bulldozers, and even Jupiter itself" Robert analized.
"Oh...yeah...But that was in the past when I was a kid. Now I have better luck" Gil said that before a scrap of pigeon fell on his head. Gil was trying to stay normal in front of him. Although his face did not convince him.
"Yeah...as you said" He rolled his eyes. Molly and Miriam noticed the tension between them.
"Okay. We have to continue with the party. Enjoy!" Miriam said trying to intervene.
"(I have a bad feeling about this. He doesn't like me)" Gil thought.
The party was still going on. Gil was trying to get along with Molly's father looking for topics of conversation, a few jokes, whatever it was to break the ice between them. But nothing convinced Robert. He ignored Gil or simply responds curtly. Also, the expression on his face didn't help. It was there when Gil decided to talk to his girlfriend.
"Molly, I have to talk with you" Gil said.
"Let me guess. You don't get along with my dad. Is that?" Molly asked.
"How do you know?" Gil asked surprised.
"I thought so. Women sometimes see some things that men don't. Also, that's kind of obvious" Molly answered.
"(sigh) Molly, I really try. But he just hates me. Why doesn't your dad like me? I haven't done anything wrong to him" Gil was sad.
"Hmmmm I see. Just give him time. My dad can be tough on others. But when you know him well, he is a good person. You will see, he will love you" Molly said with confidence.
"Are you sure?" Gil asked. She nodded "Thanks, Molly. I know I can trust you in anything"
"You're welcome, Gilly!" They hugged.
It was lunch time. Everyone was eating and telling various stories and fun things. Then there was a family karaoke. Molly of course participated and she was one of the best singers in the family. At that time, Gil was with Miriam, Mia and Robert.
"Gil….Can we talk in a more private place?" Robert asked seriously.
"Euh...sure, sir" Gil said a little nervously "(Oh oh. The talk with the father-in-law. I didn't expect it to be now)" Gil thought this.
"Finally Robert decided to speak to Gil. It is admirable. Things are arranged by speaking politely and civilly. I hope everything goes well" Miriam said with a smile to herself.

"Yeah. They are my best friends too. We went through many things but despite everything, we are still together. I did not imagine that I would end up falling in love with Molly" Gil explained.
"Hmmmm like Miriam and I….ejem...Nevermind, Do you Know something? Of all Molly's friends, you are the person who cares most about her. And that can be good and bad" Robert said.
"Excuse me?" Gil asked confused.
"Look, Molly trusts you a lot. And I don't know how she does it. You're a very unlucky boy and you often get in trouble. And that tends to lead Molly to not very good situations" Robert explained. Gil already began to feel the pressure.
"Look sir. I know I'm not the best boyfriend in the world. Our dates are a bit disastrous and everything has happened to us. But I am sure about something. I love Molly more than anything and I will never allow anything or anyone to hurt her. I do my best for her and her happiness. Like you, I say, you are her father" Gil explained. Robert was somewhat surprised by his response. It was a wise answer. But he still wasn't convinced.

For now, I don't think you're dating my daughter. If you know what's good for her, you'll know the right decision for everyone" Robert explained it in a harsh tone. Gil thought about it and was silent for a time. He loved Molly, but what her father said was partly true.
"I...I...have to go….Thanks for the talk" Gil said running to the restroom. Robert ignored him.
Gil washed his face a little from the stress of the moment. He felt that Robert just wanted to separate him from Molly. But doubts came to his head for a moment.
"What if what he says is true? Am I good enough for her? Does she really love me like that? How can I take care of my own misfortunes?...(sigh)...Wait! What stupid things am I saying? Of course Molly loves me. And I love her! She loves me despite everything that happens to us. So we are still together, because it is true love. And I have to fight for her happiness.
