I AM ALIVE! Enjoy!
Along the way to the Skelebros' house, Papyrus and I chatted. He was doing most of the talking because I didn't really feel like talking at the moment. No surprise there, I just killed someone! After I specifically said that I wouldn't!
We eventually got to the house. The tall skeleton held the door open for me, and I walked in. My eyes swept over the interior of the building. It's been a while since I've been here, it has been a long… long time since I've done a Pacifist Route. How many Resets has it been since I've last done one? As I tried to count, Chara started speaking.
"You know, you should even try to count. You know it's been sooo long, it's impossible to count by now~!" I stopped counting. I knew they were right.
Papyrus must have noticed the change in my posture. "HEY, HUMAN. ARE YOU OK?" I vigorously nodded. He shouldn't have to worry about me. It was then that I noticed that the shorter skeleton was also in the house. Sans was sitting on the couch, his eye sockets still dark. Papyrus also noticed him in that moment.
"S-SANS?" It seemed that the skeleton hadn't noticed us walk in because he jumped a bit. He looks at us, the world flashed black and white. He was gone. The remaining skeleton deflated a little. He turned to me.
"FRISK, WHEN SANS SAID THAT HE WAS D-DEPRESSED… YOU DIDN'T SEEM SURPRISED. WHY WAS THAT?" I was a bit surprised at the question. Had he really noticed that?
"Papyrus, I would say, I really would, but… I know this might not make any sense, but it's also the same reason why Sans is in the condition he is in now." Papyrus looked a bit confused at that. But the confusion soon mostly faded away, leaving somewhat understanding.
"I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN, BUT IT MUST BE SOMETHING THAT CAN GO EITHER WAY, RIGHT? IT COULD AFFECT YOU WELL, OR BAD, RIGHT?" I paused for a second.
"Yeah, you could put it that way… Just… Don't ask about it, okay? Neither of us is comfortable with it yet, and… I really, really hate myself for it right now." I put a weak smile on my face. "It'll be fine, Papyrus. Just trust me… and Sans on this. Ok?" Papyrus smiled.
"NYEH HEH HEH! OF COURSE, HUMAN!" his voice was a bit quieter at the next thing he said. "JUST… PROMISE ME THAT YOU WILL TELL ME EVENTUALLY?" I immediately answered.
"Of course. We'll tell you eventually. I promise."
"Are you sure you're going to tell him?" Chara's voice didn't sound criticizing to me. Were they actually concerned? "…Of course I am, Frisk. I don't want you going around making promises that you won't keep. So, let me repeat. Are you sure about that?" Yes. I would never break a promise. Especially not now.
Chara quieted after that, but their words were still on my mind. They sounded genuinely concerned. For Papyrus? Or for me? It doesn't matter right now, though. I'll think about it later.
"HUMAN? ARE YOU THERE?" I jumped back to reality. It seemed I had spaced out while talking to Chara.
"Yeah, I'm here."
"GOOD! WE NEED TO MAKE DINNER! DO YOU WISH TO HELP ME, FRISK?" I nodded vigorously. "WELL, COME ALONG THEN!"
I followed the skeleton to the kitchen. Everything was the same as when I had last seen it… I mentally shook my head. Don't dwell on that now.
I then remembered that Papyrus was probably going to make spaghetti… And according to a lot of people, it was not really the best. "Hey, Papyrus? Can I show you the way Humans make spaghetti?" He turned to me. "VERY WELL, FRISK! SHOW ME!"
We made spaghetti together. It felt weird to be doing this again… As I was stirring the pasta sauce, my mind wandered back to a long, long time ago, with my family.
"Frisk, honey? Could you grab a couple of onions from the cellar?" Eight-year-old me jumped to my feet. "Yes, Mama!" I ran down to the cellar and came back with the requested onions. "Thanks, sugar."
I grabbed a footstool from beside the wall and put it beside my mom. I stepped onto it. "Mama, can I stir the sauce? Can I?" My mother laughed. "Sure, sweetie! Just be careful. It's hot."
She handed me the wooden spoon and put her hand over mine to guide it as I lowered the spoon into the sauce. I stood there, wide-eyed while I stirred.
"HUMAN? ARE YOU OK?" I jumped a bit. I subconsciously wiped the tears from my eyes. "I REALIZED YOU STOPPED STIRRING, AND WHEN I LOOKED OVER, YOU WERE CRYING." I laughed a bit for some reason.
"Yeah, I'm ok Paps. J-just missing my family…" I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up, and Papyrus was there with a wide smile on his face.
"DON'T WORRY, HUMAN! YOU WILL SEE THEM AGAIN! I'LL MAKE SURE OF IT!" I smiled at grinning skeleton. "Ok Paps. Thanks. Now let's finish this spaghetti!"
Soon enough, we were done. Papyrus and I set up the table. I looked over at him. He was looking at the door, worried expression on his face. He was obviously thinking about the other resident of this house.
"Don't worry, Papyrus. He'll be back soon." He looked over at me, smiling a bit, but still quite obviously worried.
"I KNOW HUMAN, IT'S JUST THAT…" He sighed. I patted his back a little.
"He will be fine, Pap. If anyone knows how to take care of themselves, it's him." Papyrus looked over at me a bit incredulously.
"…IF YOU SAY SO." He paused a little. "BUT NOW WE SHALL EAT THE HUMAN-STYLE SPAGHETTI WE MADE!" We both sat down. "Let's!" And we dug in.
Papyrus finished his plate very quickly, then immediately getting himself some more. I laughed a bit. "Enjoying it?" He nodded enthusiastically. "I'm glad."
After finishing our meal, we both sat down on the couch, and watched Mettaton's latest show. Soon enough, it was late, and the clock said it was 11 PM. Papyrus looked at the clock almost at the same time as me. He opened his mouth, about to say something, when the door banged open. We turned to look.
The punny skeleton had walked in, still looking like crap. Papyrus immediately stood up. "SANS?" Sans then did something I haven't ever seen him do, even with all the Resets. He ignored his brother. He didn't even look at us, going to his room. A second after the door had shut, I heard a click.
"…WHY DOES HE ALWAYS LOCK HIS DOOR?" The tall skeleton sighed. I shrugged.
"It's getting late, maybe we should go to sleep." Papyrus looked at the clock again.
"YEAH, MAYBE WE SHOULD…" He stood up, and walked to the stairs, before turning around. "GOOD NIGHT, FRISK."
"…Good night, Papyrus." We both hesitated for a moment, something passing between us, before we each turned around and went our respective bedding places for the night.
I lay down on the couch, thoughts swirling. Papyrus, Sans, what were we going to do?, our current situation, my promise to Papyrus, where I was, my LV, Papyrus…
An with that last thought, I drifted off.
I'm so sorry for disappearing! I had writer's block, and I'm a naturally lazy person! So, so sorry! I'll get started on the next chapter right away, expect it today, or tomorrow! Probably tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
