Summary: Just read the first chapter...

Well, here's the awaited chapter. It took me three days to make this. To those who guessed the Servant right, congrats. I don't have a prize though. Anyway, enough mumbling for me. Let's just go ahead to the story.

Disclaimer: You guys should already know what I mean, no need for a repeat...

Chapter 1: It's coarse, rough, irritating and it gets everywhere

Thinking about what just happened still felt unbelievable for me. Because, things like that only happens in fiction. Sure, I may believe in the afterlife. But for what that old vampire showed me is definitely far from normal. And, I'd rather not delve deeper into it. I don't want to go crazy.

I felt myself lying on a soft, rough, and warm surface and the rays of the sun shining upon me. 'Where am I?' was the first thing that came up on my head.

I stood up from my position and my eyes wandered around to look. Nothing but a barren landscape full of sand, broken soil, shrubs, and cacti spread out. 'I'm in a desert?' I thought. 'What the hell am I doing in the middle of a sandy wasteland?'

I trekked the land and there was nothing but dry earth. Scorpions and rattlesnakes roamed the area, hunting for food. "Damn it. I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. "

While walking the dry wasteland, I found myself swimming in my thoughts. 'Why am I alive? What caused such being like Zelretch to take my soul out of the purgatory? Surely it's not just on a whim or some sort of entertainment to take it this far.'

I chuckled to myself. 'I mean, I'm talking about a guy who made sentient magical wands that transforms prepubescent girls into magical girls.'

A funny thought came to mind. 'Why do I feel like one of those isekai novel protagonist, am I some sort of butt monkey in the eyes of the gods?' I shook my head. 'Nope, let's not go there. That place leads to insanity territory.'

I looked into the azure, clear sky and talked to myself. "What should I do, now that I'm alive? I really need some answers here please!" I shouted, and nobody answered. I lowered my head and sighed to myself. "What am I supposed to be? I'm just someone who got a lucky draw."

I gingerly touched my chest. And something came to my mind. "A Caster Class Card huh? Isn't that one of those Servant Cards from a certain parallel universe where the Heroic Spirits are encapsulated on such objects to be used by the Holy Grail Wars participants to fight in it by themselves?"

I clenched my fist and spoke. "Does this mean that I have that power as well? I don't feel any different though."

I shook my head and said. "Never-mind that. I'll think about it later. I really need to find civilization fast. The heat of the sun is getting to me." And so, I walked the dry, empty road absentmindedly.

After a few hours of walking under the hot desert sun, I then saw far away a kingdom built from sand and clay. Like one of those artworks about mythical cities that has come to life.

I felt a strange pull in myself from that direction. Curiously, I walked towards it. 'What is this strange feeling?' I thought to myself.

Eventually, I reached the city gate. It opened upon me when I was mere meters away, as if it was expecting me.

And there, I saw the bustling streets full of people. They were busy with their work. Judging by their clothes, I stood out with my outlandish outfit not fitting the setting.

A simple white button up shirt, partnered with a red and black vertical lined tie, black slacks, and dark leather shoes. I am still apparently wearing my office clothes, the outfit I was wearing on the night I died. I shook my head, not minding about it.

The people noticed my presence though it did not bother them and went on to their work. A few glances from here and there and gossips flying around yet quiet enough not to annoy me.

I walked ahead to where this strange force is pulling me. I looked ahead and saw a grandiose palace in the middle on the city, obviously belonging to a king.

Though, looking at this place made me feel nostalgic. It made me think that I should know where I am.

"Uruk." I muttered. The kingdom of a certain Babylonian king. The home of mankind's oldest known hero. "But, that's-" Impossible, nothing more than a myth. Yet it exists, and I am currently standing on it.

'How did I get here? Did the card do this?' I questioned to myself.

I continued my path towards the palace, seeking for answers. The feeling became stronger and stronger as I eventually reached the palace.

After climbing up the stairs, I reached the halls of the palace. From there I saw a golden haired man with blood red eyes wearing old-style Mediterranean clothing fit for a king, holding a split slab that looks like a book with shimmering golden runes hovering above it.

I took a step forward, and his gaze landed upon me. His eyes felt like he could see my very being, and it gave chills to my body. Yet I continued to move forward, and stood right in front of him.

"... well, isn't this peculiar. Surprising, but not something I wouldn't expect. With these eyes of mine, I can foresee everything." He said with a regal tone to it.

I stood there upright, not kneeling in front of a royalty. "You're-" "I know who I am, mongrel. But who are you supposed to be." He cut me off with his arrogant questioning.

"I-I'm-" "I care not for your name; I already know what it is. What I wanted to know is why you are here? What is your purpose? What do you truly desire?" He asked with an observant gaze.

"I-I, wanted to live." I said, unsure of my thoughts. He simply stared at me, and gained a disappointed reaction to my words.

"Really, is it living what you only desire? Are you truly just afraid of death?" He stood up from his throne.

"Are you really that pathetic? Like an ant simply following orders from its queen, is that what think you are?" He flared angrily. I stood there numbly, my mind reeling in what he said.

'Am I simply just that? Wait-' "No! That's not it!" I shouted. "I came here looking for answers."

"Is that so?" He said thoughtfully. He sat back down. "Then tell me, what is it do you seek for?"

I calmed myself, and spoke. "Why am I here? Why did I get this chance to live once more in the land of the living?"

He stared at me and suddenly, he laughed. "Why do you need such answers to stupid questions like that?" He held his face to hold down his amusement.

"Why do you question such things when it is freely given to you?" He said. 'Well technically, that crazy vampire just shoved it to my face with no fucks given; but still...' I mentally mumbled.

"... Humanity has been given free will by the gods, should you not do what you want to as well?" He brought forth a goblet filled with wine through a golden ripple in the air, and drank from it.

"Gain wealth, cause destruction, dominate the people, bring peace; such are the many choices you could do in this world. And it's up to you on what you will do."

He stared at me in the eye and said. "That old bat already gave you a hint on what you can possibly do, and it's on you whether to take the first step to it. Your fate lies between your palms, and no one can stop you. What I am is simply someone who will help you achieve it."

I looked at my hands and thought. 'My choice, my destiny...' I clenched my palms, and spoke with conviction. "I will."

"Do you truly believe that you are worthy of holding my powers, boy?" He glared, mocking me.

A surge of adrenaline filled my veins, giving me courage to stare back at such a legendary figure. "I can't say surely, but I will prove to you that I am by facing the obstacles headfirst not backing down."

We glared at each other steely for a while, and his face morphed into an amused one.

"Well then..." He stretched his right arm to his side, and opened up his gate. There came out a strange golden key-shaped sword, and fell to his hand.

"Catch." And he threw it towards me.

I was surprised by his gesture and found myself fumbling to catch it. I stood up straight once more, holding the object between my hands and staring at it. "Th-this is-" Bab-ilu, the Key of the King's Law.

"Wait, don't I already have access to the Gate." I said. "Yes, but you simply unlocked only the surface. This is needed to open the Gate further beyond, unlocking the most powerful weapon I have that I sealed within the Gate."

Hearing that gave chills to my bones. 'He's giving me Ea?'

He looked up in the ceiling and spoke. "Normally, I would not do this; giving away my treasury to a mere mortal like you. But sometimes, exceptions like this can be made. Doing this will not make me disappear from the throne of heroes."

He continued his speech. "Mankind needs more heroes. And whether I like it or not, it has to be you to raise wave the flag of humanity's hope and be their king. My time has since passed in this world, and new heroes are born to carry on the title."

"I am not the same person as I was before. Arrogant, someone who was given everything and do not know the value of bonds and human mortality." He smiled upon me and said. "Use it wisely, my successor. You shall now carry the burden of bearing my name by holding my treasuries within your hands. My spirit will live on you. Make use of it to pave way for mankind's future."

'For him to do this much for me, why did he do so? What has his eyes seen for giving such faith in me?' I thought about it. Staring at the object in my hands, it felt heavier than before. I was speechless. All I could do was nod slowly at what he said.

'I don't know if I could do this now...' I mumbled silently.

Then suddenly, the ground shook. And I wobbled on my footing. "W-what's happening?"

Gilgamesh simply said. "You're walking up. It's time for you to leave."

The place continued to shake and the ceiling crumbles, debris falling to the ground as it continued to quake.

"Go on, boy. And make a mark in the annals of human history. We will meet again soon." It was the last thing I heard from him as darkness envelops my sight by the broken walls and ceiling covering me.

...

...

...

My eyelids flutter to open, seeing different scenery. The smell of antiseptic and rubbing alcohol fills the air and the beeping of a heart monitor beats the silence of the room as I lay in a comfortable bed.

I looked at the window and saw the sun slowly rising up in the sky, shining its rays of light through my window. "It's morning..." I mumbled.

My mind clears up and found myself in an unfamiliar yet nostalgic setting 'I'm in a hospital? Wait, who brought me here?'

I heard footsteps behind the door, and it swung open; revealing a man who definitely is not a doctor from the clothing he wears.

A dark haired man with a goatee and blonde bangs, he looked like someone in his twenties and his hair looking natural which is very strange. Wearing gray button up shirt, red tie, black waistcoat, faded-purple slacks and navy blue knee-length coat, he looked very dashing and expensive.

On his right hand he carries a plastic bag filled with assortment of food and beverages. And on his left was a stack of familiar brown cards he carries casually.

"So, you're awake." He states. I dumbly nodded, still staring at the cards he is holding. He placed the bag on the table at the side of my bed, and took a nearby stool to sit beside me.

"You looked better than you did yesterday." He casually says, trying to make a conversation. "Uh-huh." I answered absentmindedly.

"Well, now that you're conscious, let's just go straight to the point. Tell me, what are these cards supposed to be?" He raised his left arm which holds the said object.

'Oh crap.' I cursed in my head and sweat-dropped.

Author's Note: Originally, this and the prologue was supposed to be one whole chapter. And no, it did not look like this, I had to write a new chapter based on the original one I made on paper. Tell me what you guys think. I try to make the hero not too much of a Mary-Sue but it's really hard to keep him on a level fine enough not to be one. I'm trying to regress my past works that made me cringe really bad, leave those bad memories behind and use them as an inspiration to be better. If it's a bit too dramatic and more people talking, I'm sorry but it's just how I write. I'm not that great of a writer. Not everything has to be a fight scene y'know, and I could probably barely do one but I'll try.

[I tend to edit some stuff from here and there if any word is out of place even when it's already posted. I tend to make some typos here and there. And I'd rather not get a Beta Reader, I feel embarrassed enough already]

Well, I got nothing to say anymore. So, see you in the next chapter.

Somewhere, in a place where no normal man or magi could access; there sat the Wizard Marshall himself on his chair, alone in the abyss watching the kaleidoscope of various worlds through his eyes like a television.

Footsteps echoed the place, hinting another person walking in on such an empty place known only to few people.

"What have you done this time now, you old bat." A female voice called out to the Old Man of the Jewels himself, as if this was something he occasionally do.

"Hmmm? It's nothing, just a small and simple experiment my dear Justeaze." He casually said offhandedly.

"I felt it through the Holy Grail. When it's you, it isn't just a 'small and simple experiment' as you said it." The woman, named Justeaze angrily counters what the Old man spoke. Her irritation shown from her finger tapping her elbows while cross-armed.

"Don't get your panties in a twist woman, I simply brought a man back to life and sent him to a different world." He said.

The sole female in the room blinked, flabbergasted by his words. "Not this again." She said. "Just, don't make it go beyond irreparable by any means. I'd rather not deal with your so called 'experiment', especially when it affects my side of magic." She shakes her head.

"Sure, sure. Go bother someone else; I'm trying to watch here." He said, making a shooing motion with his hands.

And she stormed off angrily, disappearing after a certain distance like how she appeared out of nowhere. The Old Man continues to watch excitedly, and said. "Now, what will you do boy? Will you be the cause of mankind's doom, or its salvation?" He impishly grinned, excited of what comes next.
